This yoga studio was my introduction to yoga Nidra practice and gave me the opportunity to explore restorative and meditative classes. They really do foster a sense of community here. Everybody is incredibly accommodating and welcoming from the owner to the instructors to the people at the front desk. The studio is always so clean and has everything you could need including rental yoga, mats, and yoga mat cleaning spray. They also offered 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher trainings that are registered with the Yoga alliance and are highly respected in the Denver community. It seems. I'm SO glad Samadhi is back! They are under new management but the classes I've been to so far are the same level of fabulous instruction and glorious yoga as before. I love the wide variety of times and class selections to choose from. I attended a Hatha class this morning and an All Levels Vinyasa last week. They also have Nidra classes, which are delightful if you've never tried it but totally unlike any yoga you've probably tried before. The studio space is full of light and is warmly decorated. I have practiced at two of Samadhi's four locations - this one and their Golden Triangle location. This location is clearly the most busy of the two. There is no dedicated parking lot but plenty of street parking on the surrounding blocks. The instructors here are fantastic, especially Janel and Cheryl. The prayer flags and mural in the main yoga room are beautiful and give the studio a very authentic, zen quality. Even though it's not everyone's preference, I also greatly enjoy the incense that is often burned during class. The classes I have been to were unheated, though they may have heated classes here of which I am unaware. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a heated vinyasa class in the middle of winter, but I also enjoy unheated yoga, so Samadhi is perfect for that. Yogic teachings and philosophy have been worked into every class that I have attended, and sometimes class begins with traditional breathing exercises or a short meditation. I enjoy these aspects as someone who has been practicing yoga for a long time and has always had a curiosity about various spiritual traditions. However, I will say that Samadhi may not be the place to bring your deeply devout non-denominational Christian family member or your friend who is completely unfamiliar with yoga and who has never down a downward dog or Warrior II in his or her life, for example. Just something to keep in mind. It is a wonderful and very spiritual place, which many of us enjoy, but this is decidedly not for everyone. The people I have interacted with at the front desk are very nice as well. You can check in on an iPad if you already have a class package, or speak with the employee if you need to buy classes or have a question. They also have some retail items for sale, and complimentary tea. I have very positive feelings about Samadhi overall. However, I do want to point out that every time I have been to class here at the Uptown location, it has been extremely crowded, almost uncomfortably so. I have not encountered this issue at the Golden Triangle location and prefer to practice there because of it. If you have a special spot that you typically gravitate towards in the room, it's best to get here early. I get not wanting to turn people away, but when everyone's mats are only a couple of inches apart and movement during the practice feels restrained because you're afraid of bumping into someone, it does take away from the experience a bit. read more

I must preface this by saying that I've only taken one class at Samadhi... and judging by the other reviews, I chose the wrong one to go to! I was in Denver for work, and with packed days and nights, the only free time I had to squeeze in a workout was in the early morning. I went to a 7am flow class on this past Thursday. I arrived to the studio at 6:45... since it was a studio I'd never been to, I wanted to make sure I had time to sign in, fill out any paperwork, check the place out, etc... but instead, I was met with a locked door. Hmmm... I waited five minutes, and then around 6:55, I saw a few other people pull up in their cars and one sweet girl approached on her bike. She came over and waited with me outside the door and told me not to worry, that the class usually gets off to a late start. And finally, at 7:08, the instructor came in... The studio was beautiful. The class itself was ok - not the best flowing flow class I've taken but not the worst either. The good thing is that the studio ended up waiving the $16 class fee because of my feedback and they invited me back, which I will possibly take them up on a future visit to Denver. But until then, I'm generously giving a three star / A-OK rating. Namaste. read more

Tears. I cried tears during my first yoga session here. I was so comfortable with the space and the instructor Janelle. My gratitude was overflowing and continues to spark my emotions throughout this day. I felt the 10:30 gentle flow class was moving extremely fast for my abilities and breath pattern but no-one's energy made me feel like I was holding them back or that they were in any way frustrated with me being out of flow. The space was somewhat open- everyone had full arm stretch reaching space. This was maybe my 13th or 14th yoga class over a period of 5 years so it was very gentle on my body and fulfilling. One day I will be able to get my elbows to cross and touch hands hahaha. Highly recommended! So happy I signed up for the unlimited for 30 days deal for first time visitors! They have mats for use (free!!), bathrooms have towels, mat cleaning towels- very environmentally friendly. My emotions are so full and blockages have been removed. Samadhi is exactly what you think of when you picture a yoga studio: full of incense, sanskrit murals, and lifelong yogis. I signed up for a class here via ClassPass and was met with super friendly vibes. The main room is warm and welcoming, albeit maybe a little messy (most people leave their shoes out here on the floor before heading into their class). One thing that I thought was really sweet: a gentleman dropped into the studio right when I did and told the gal at the front desk that he'd like to buy a drop in class. The instructor just smiled and said "be my guest" today and waived the fee. That's some real Denver niceness right there! I took Brittany's Vinyasa Level 2 class and really enjoyed it. It was pretty packed, but that's to be expected at any 5:30 pm class in Denver. Brittany is super kind and had a gentle but powerful voice and style about her. She made the class approachable for a range of skill levels (I'm probably on the lower end of Level 2, and there were some instructors in the class who were definitely advanced) The yoga room itself is really pretty--colorful flags and lanterns hanging from the ceiling and a wall full of windows to look out on the snowy (April) day. Parking in Uptown can be a thing, but I was able to find a free spot about a block away. Rates actually look pretty good--$99 a month for a VIP membership? I gotta say, that's pretty reasonable, especially 'round these parts. I'll definitely make my way back here soon for another class! read more

Overall, this is a very good yoga studio, and is a sentimental favorite of mine since it's where I started practicing several years ago -- but there are just a few quibbles I have that prevent me from giving it a full five-star rating. First of all, the pros: the spaces at both the Uptown and Golden Triangle locations are spacious with parking readily available. The Uptown location is rather gorgeous with excellent artwork. Two of Denver's best teachers (Jeremy and Cheryl) have been here for years -- (let me add that Santosh is also excellent). They have a designated receptionist which was a huge selling point for me when I started as I had no idea what to expect and it was very helpful to have someone there to patiently answer my questions (most yoga studios just have the instructor serve as a surrogate receptionist). All of this combines to create a kind of hazy "spiritual" sort of studio. Note that Samadhi has a very "hippie" sort of vibe to it -- definitely not a CorePower! For me, a decidedly non-"hippie" type, this is a plus as I practice yoga largely for the spiritual effects. It _might_ not be the place to break a "normie" or mainstream type of person into yoga. They seem to have (thankfully) cut back on the incense considerably in the last few years, but you can still expect a lot of dreadlocks, toe rings, talk of Burning Man in the waiting area, etc. Not a judgment, just an observation. If you really don't like chanting, ambient music, potentially lots of breathing exercises, etc. and just want a straight-up asana practice, Samadhi might not be your go-to studio. Now for the cons. It seems like a lot of the former regular teachers have left and most of the classes are taught by a less stable, rotating roster of younger teachers. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but it just seems a bit less "community-like" than it used to (again, this is just an anecdotal observation.) Also, I have to say that _I really have never liked the layout of the Uptown waiting area at all_. This might seem like a minor quibble, but there's just too much going on there with their merchandise for sale in the same crowded waiting area. It can make the place feel really compressed and will accentuate any potential "cliqueiness" that you perceive about the place being so close to everyone. Also, I must say that I really do not get the Colorado Blvd. location at all, and will leave it at that! read more

Samadhi Center is difficult to describe in a few sentences of why it holds an incredibly fond place in my heart to practice. All three studios have offered vivid and profound ignition points of growth for me personally. Outside of my own practice this is (like so many others) home. I doubted yoga and assumed it had nothing to offer before I started practicing and Samadhi with just one class made such a profound connection that I dropped all my preconceived notions and allowed many beginnings to unravel and bloom in my life. I've tried several studios in the area and Samadhi has by far been one of my favorite. Great instructors, a wide variety of classes that expose the root of the spiritual and introspective elements in yoga practice, convenient location, and beautiful decor, samadhi, like many other local studios is very expensive, and innacessible to the impoverished students, minorities, and others at risk of poverty who make up a large percentage of Denver's population. It's unfortunate they don't offer student rates and discounts for attendance like many other studios that acknowledge their privilege, unlike samadhi. read more

Argh, incense smell in here is worse. Saw people with eyes closed and meditating. Propped down my mat at the back of the studio trying really hard not to be noticed. Instructor opened her eyes to signal to me welcome. D'oh. Instructor: *closes eyes* Let us pray...to the God of Brahma...let us thank him...for creating our bodies... My mind: Who's Brahma? Is he related to Obama? *closes eyes* Dear God, thanks for making my body. Instructor: Let us meditate...open up our lungs and let air in from all sides...Feel the energy flow... My mind: I don't want a pneumothorax, no thank you. Instructor: Let us chant together...the chant of om... My mind: What's the chant of om? The whole class chants OOOOOOOOOooooooooMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm. My mind: Oh, obviously, that's what it is. Instructor: *opens eyes* Let us stretch our backs...let us twist...from side to side...Let us look at our kidneys...our kidneys do so much for us...they make us pure... *I twisted to look at my back and pretended like I can see my kidneys, too.* Instructor: This is a time...we celebrate our guru...the one who removes darkness...and reveils the highest truths...Whether your guru is a person, a flower, the sun or something else...Let us join in this powerful celebration...Let us lay down...and meditate on our own guru... *I laid down on my $1 rented mat and thought about that cute puppy waiting outside Fluid Coffee.* Instructor: Let us mobilize...our legs...We always want to work...our right side first...then our left side...The ascending colon is on the right...the descending colon is on the left...we always ascend before we descend... Samadhi is hands down, the best yoga studio in Denver. The ambiance is unmatched, and their teachers are top notch. They have a wide variety of class offerings (though most of it is based on vinyasa yoga, so if you're looking for gentle hatha or hot yoga, you won't find it here). They also routinely offer great workshops, and work very hard to keep the community aspect of yoga going with kirtans and group meditations and other similar events. The studio itself is stunningly beautiful, and has a very soothing feel. My only minor complaint is that Samadhi is quite popular, and may have outgrown the small space that it occupies. Some of the classes tend to be crowded, but this is easily avoided if you go to the non "prime time" classes (later in the evening, etc). I will say this - if you are looking for "fitness yoga," you may not like Samadhi, because they do incorporate the traditional/spiritual side of yoga into their classes. If you're the type that would feel embarrassed by chanting "OM" at the beginning of class, then Samadhi probably won't be your cup of tea - try Core Power instead! read more

Hello! I have recently just started coming to this new yoga studio. And WOW, the rooms are so beautiful, the staff is super friendly and always kind. Because the world needs more kindness. There are SOOO many classes to choose from. Including a Kundalini class, which I've been meaning to go to soon. I hope to start finding my yoga style teachers soon. Usually, I recommend a yoga studio because of awesome teachers. While Samadhi has some of THE BEST teachers in Denver what really makes this place amazeballs are the other students! The kula is alive and well here - it keeps me coming back! Samadhi has two gorgeous spaces: one to the left and one to the right as you walk in the front door. Also, there are tons of items for purchase so I suggest taking a few moments to browse. This front area can get a bit packed before and after class. There are a few changing stations to the back so if you need to swap work clothes for yoga duds there is a private place to do so. I like that you can take your belongings into the practice room so you don't have to worry about them. Just be aware that there is not a good place to leave your things outside the practice rooms. Funny enough - I like Nag Champa - but there is a bit much of it here. I love the spirit and soul that this smell embodies but there is a tendency to over do it. Just a note. Some of the coolest people you will ever know practice at Samadhi. In every class there are kind yogis of like mind who are there to better themselves. At other studios you get people who just want to sweat it out. Here, the clientele is interested in improvement of the mind body and spirit, not just a work out. Pick a teacher, any teacher and you'll walk away with that yoga bliss that most people get from drugs. Of course, this is legal and not nearly as expensive. I do find, however, that prices are a bit high compared to other studios but that's cool - it's worth the few extra dollars to add health, love, confidence and happiness to your life. I recommend Samadhi for practitioners of all levels. Beginners can get a solid base in the yoga world while experienced yogis can deepen their practice in a safe and loving community. If there is one place in Denver that is more crowded than in New York City, it is a yoga studio. There are so many yoga studios in the Denver metro area, and while I cannot speak for other studios, if the traffic at Samadhi is any indication, others are also packed. Samadhi is in the center of Uptown and very accessible to LoDo and the many surrounding neighborhoods and, having recently won the 5280 accolades (again), it is a busy, blissful yoga studio. I particularly enjoy classes taught by Jeremy, Beth S., Paul, and Sara Mesmer-- they are wonderful teachers who know the importance of the spiritual aspect of yoga as well as the physical aspects and able to provide a holistic, mind-body practice. That said, many classes that are offered during popular time slots (i.e. weekdays after 6PM, weekend mornings) have gotten VERY crowded. In a recent Candlelight Flow yoga class with Jeremy, I was pretty much mat-to-mat with the person next to me. Not a comfortable place to explore the asanas or to focus on your practice when the person next to you is practically in your space. Samadhi needs to offer smaller-sized classes more often or provide a bigger room to hold the more popular classes. read more

Great place to practice! I was in town vacationing, and this studio was close to where I was staying. The first thing I noticed about the place was the decor! I loved the vibrant colored flags and the paintings on the wall. It was very relaxing and soothing to practice in. My teacher was very friendly and explained the positions very thoroughly. I also liked that she was going at a reasonable pace and gave modifications whenever needed. It's always nice to change things up and try out different studios. This is a fantastic studio for yogis of all preferences. Everyone at the front desk is kind and welcoming even if you are only an occasional yogi like me. The teachers are very sensitive to differences in ability and/or injuries. The physical spaces are stunning, especially the large studio on a breezy day when they open the windows. I just moved here from the Bay Area and Samadhi has been a wonderful welcome to Denver for me. I'm 1 week into my unlimited classes for 30 days (only $30) and I'm completely loving it. My plan was to try out multiple studios once I arrived but I'm almost positive I'll just sign up for a regular membership at the end of this newcomer trial. So far I've attended sessions at the Uptown & Broadway locations. Both studios have beautiful energy and the instructors have all been wonderful. Samadhi Center for Yoga and Meditation is a rock solid studio that is a staple of the Denver yoga community. The space has an amazing energy that is immediately welcoming. They have recently expanded to two other locations, but I have only practiced at the original location. I completed the yoga teacher training there in 2014, and found their program to be very comprehensive and informative in a variety of subjects within the study of yoga. They have a an impressive amount of experienced instructors that each have their own unique gifts to share. They host many workshops and events and are very active in the community. They also have a nice variety of class styles from restorative, to ashtanga, to vinyasa. I highly recommend Samadhi to those who are looking for an authentic yoga experience. read more

I experienced some of the best yoga classes of my life at Samadhi. I am an instructor from Florida, and I was in town for the week. The studio came highly recommended to me by a close friend. It's so easy to tell when studios are authentic and dedicated to their work, and this place definitely fits that bill. I took two classes from Asiana, and was taking mental notes the entire time on how I could incorporate her ideas into the classes I teach back home. She conducted herself with such passion, grace, eloquence, and wisdom. After leaving the studio, I felt incredibly inspired and grateful.
