Every time I go up to mirror Lake, I see this little store. Over the weekend I decided to stop by. The store has all sorts of items. Anything you need is here from gifts to snacks to food to camping supplies. They also have an espresso shop. Great stop before Mirror lake. Whatever you need they got it. And they're super super nice and informative. We hit delicious sandwiches for lunch and coffees for the ride. The scenery is breathtaking but we hiked around the lake and definitely we were happy after to have a great lunch with us. They have lots of random stuff you might not know you need till you see it. Great little store on the side of the highway that serves lots of beef jerky, snacks, and even sandwiches. The jerky is made in-house and is really delicious. I haven't tried their sandwiches, but they looked wonderful. The smokehouse seems to always be pretty busy for a small place (the convenience factor probably plays in since it's right before/after Mirror Lake Highway) which is a good sign. The people working here have always been very friendly and helpful in making suggestions on food/snack items. Just a really cute place! read more

This is a little store on the side of the highway where you can stop for Jerky or a quick bite. They have fishing and camping supplies before you head up in the mountains. They also have beer and drinks for sale as well. You can grab a hoodie or a latte before you head out on the road. The cashier was super sweet and helpful and made an awesome mocha latte with mexican chocolate. Too bad I wasn't hungry because their sandwiches sounded so good. They do close kinda early (passed by at 6:30 on a Thursday and they were closed) It is worth stopping and taking a look. read more

I definitely recommend this place! Great place to grab a bite or carry food before hiking/picnic. It's around 1.5 miles on highway 150 which is is heading to Wasatch National Forest (road to Mirror Lake). We stopped there for early dinner. BBQ started at 5 PM. Great food for the area and they have food for hikers to go and simple variety of hiking / outdoor supplies. Cashier and BBQ chef were super friendly. We also bought beef jerkey, smoked trout and other great stuff. They do have a good variety of local and national beer. A tourist guide in SLC told us that the name SAMAK is the mirror effect of KAMAS. Very fitting for a restaurant situated on the way to Mirror Lake :) read more

Our family decided to drive to Mirror Lake just to get away for a few hours. As we drove, we made mental note of places we'd be interested in stopping. I noticed Samak Smokehouse on the side of the road and put a pin in it. A few hours later, I was in the store looking through the shelves. I located the jerky I craved. I'm a jerky nut. Samak had maybe ten options for jerky. I settled on Teriyaki peppered turkey and a spicy chipotle beef jerkys. $8.99 for a 4 oz package is a little more than convenience store pricing but well within range for a small batch, more artisanal, jerky. I immediately opened the bags to get a sample. The turkey was a little drier and tougher (as turkey jerky tends to be) but the flavor was rich and unique. Not overwhelmingly salty but enough to offset the pepper kick. A subtle hint of teriyaki brought it home. Sometimes, I like the tougher jerkys because you savor them a little longer and get more flavor than from tender jerky. The spicy chipotle was good. It was a flavor profile I had not experienced in a jerky. Not as spicy as I like but probably appeals to a larger segment of the population who don't enjoy jalapeno level spice on their jerky. Being beef, the chipotle was also a more tender jerky. The smokiness of the chipotle was refreshing as well. Next time we're up this way, we will have to try more of the offerings. read more

Insanely good jerky. I became a huge fan of this place back in 2004 on my way to a family camp out. I can't find any place that has jerky this yummy. I have also got it at a booth at the farmers market in salt lake at pioneer park. They sell samak smoke house jerky there. Now I just order online cuz I'm that addicted. We drive by this place all the time and never stop in. I just assume this is some crap store. But I keep seeing the word "Smoke House", so today I stopped in. Timing is everything, and it was my lucky day, the owner, a nice young man walked out of the country store with a big basket and was headed to the smoke house. He gave us a little tour of his operation and even gave the three of us a sample of turkey jerky and the beef jerky. HOLY SMOKES, this stuff was not good, it was EXCELLENT. They make it right there, using fresh meat and no preservatives etc. This is not the cardboard they sell at mini-markets. This is killer stuff. We went back into the store and bought three different types of jerky. They have a sandwich shop in this place and I wonder if the friendly gals in this place can make a sandwich as good as the jerky. I will be stopping each time I go hiking in this area. Can't wait to try a sandwich. This is the type of discovery you are looking for when you use yelp! I can't believe I drove by this place for so many years. We stopped here on the way to go snow shoeing by our guide to grab snacks for our little adventure. To our dismay the shop wasn't going to open for some time so we decided to stop here on our way back... Well after 8 miles of snowshoeing Samak did not disappoint. Great customer service. Greeted with a smile, informative and knowledgeable about the area. Tasty jerky. They do charge $1 extra then the regular recreation fee of $6 for a 3-day pass. When I looked on Yelp, the only coffee in Kamas was at the gas station!! This gem is a few minutes outside of town on the mirror lake highway. They have an Italian espresso machine and make a pretty mean cappiccino. Super nice people and delicious snacks. Make sure you stop at this great find in Utah! This was our first trip to go investigate the beautiful Uintas in winter and we stopped by here on our way back down off the hill. I didn't get the name of the owner/woman who was running the store, but she was delightful. We chatted about the quaint ambiance, her location, and her amazing selection of local foods, including their made in house selection of jerky. My husband liked the chipotle and I loved the traditional. Both were cherry wood smoked. My husband likes a little more smoke flavor, but I thought it was very good. We also bought the smoked cheddar and trout which we will try out on the big Game Day. After reading a few of the reviews, I can't wait to stop in here when they are making bar b que dinner.
