Truffle mushroom pappardelle
Frank L.

Food was delicious. Love the concept of doing some Chinese/Italian/Western dishes. They have Japanese Italian fusion dishes at other restaurants so why not Chinese. I hope they lean into that a lil more but if not their food is still really great and def worth a visit. Hits: Creamy mala seafood fettuccine- so creamy and the mala flavor was perfect. Enough flavor so that you know it's there and with none of the chili oil. Sandstorm chicken wings- perfectly cooked chicken wings. The batter has a slight twist to it. Grill steak veg grain bowl- omg I didn't expect to like this dish that much but it was so good. I know the description doesn't sound like it's anything crazy but the execution on the dish was so good I gotta recommend. Other dishes: African dan dan noodles- There was def dan dan flavor but ultimately it felt like the dish was missing something. I think it needs like green onions or ground beef to like bring it out. Truffle mushroom French omelette- Def worth trying. The eggs were super creamy. I just didn't list it as my fav cause I don't love truffle so much but if you do it's a great choice. Overall, samk brings a fairly unique twist to food in the area. I hope it sticks around and I'll def be back

Located right next door to Hide Out Cafe, Pot & Wok has been renamed SAMK (after owners Sam and Kate). I personally think they should change it to SAM-K as the owner Kate pronounced it, as I had difficulty trying to initially pronounce it - I thought it was "Sam-kuh". Look for the little statue of the cool bear wearing shades and you've found it! The restaurant is on the smaller side, just a few tables to dine in. The owner is also the server as well as the pastry chef, so it's a full hands on operation, and I respect the hustle. SAMK offers fusion food, namely Asian with other entrees inspired from around the world like African Dan Dan Noodles, Sichuan Fried Chicken Sandwich, or Shawarma Chicken Bowl. My friend and I shared the Shawarma Chicken Bowl and the Truffle Mushroom Alfredo Fettuccine, and while I ordered the Elderflower Cold Brew to drink, she got the Earl Grey Milk Brew. The Fettuccine was fantastic - great umami flavor and the fettuccine seemed handmade, they were wide flat noodles, and not like the kind you get from the box. There was also a big mozzarella ball on top, which was nice to eat with the pasta. We both thought the shawarma bowl was ok. It was so colorful and beautiful with all the different vegetables, and came with 3 chicken skewers, however the chicken was dry, and overall the dish lacked flavor. It could probably be better if they used chicken thighs, so that it could be juicier and more flavorful. I decided to try the Elderflower Cold Brew as I was curious as to what that would taste like, and honestly, I didn't taste anything except cold brew. Besides having some flower pieces on the top of the drink, I couldn't distinguish any notable flavor profiles and it just tasted like regular iced coffee. I took a sip of my friends Earl Grey Milk Brew and that tasted better than my drink. We ordered a slice of sesame cheesecake for dessert. It was creamy and delicious and a great way to end the meal. Next time I'll have to try the tiramisu!

Went to check out the new Lele Tea in Rowland Heights and spotted SAMK Steak & Pasta House right across the street -- couldn't resist! Just looking at the menu, you can tell the chef actually puts thought into the dishes -- definitely not your typical quick meal spot. Every plate has its own little twist. Sandstorm Chicken Wings -- The name got me first, and they did not disappoint. Super crispy coating with parmesan cheese and golden garlic breadcrumbs. Way more layered in flavor than your usual wings -- and yes, finger-licking good! Classic Bolognese Rigatoni -- Loved this one. The meat sauce is slow-cooked for 8 hours, so it's extra rich and flavorful, with chunky meat bits. Plenty of parmesan and fresh basil -- toss it all together and it's seriously satisfying. Arugula Salad with Sesame Dressing & Orange -- I'm a big arugula fan, and this salad was such a nice fresh bite. The sesame dressing is nutty and fragrant, the orange and radish add brightness, plus the sunflower seeds and crispy noodles give it a nice crunch. South American Spiced Thick-Cut Pork Chop -- This one's a must-try! Perfectly grilled with a bit of char, served with a tangy-spicy berry BBQ sauce. Juicy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. If you're tired of the same old American fast food, this spot is a fun creative twist worth trying!

Bolognese pasta

This restaurant serves pasta with an Asian twist. I ordered the bolognese pasta which I thought was decent, but beet pricy for what they served. I definitely felt that the pasta needed more sauce because the noodles felt a little dry. Overall, the dish lacked flavor. This would be a convenient stop if you are in the area and craving Italian food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here.

Really good food!! Honestly yes Michelin quality, I will have to come back to try the desserts. I was very impressed because inside it kinda looks like a whole in the wall but the taste is there! Food might take a while but worth it. The owners are always working too so I like that, they care more!

Such a great little restaurant with amazing food and wonderful staff. Located inside the Pearl Plaza in Rowland Heights. Not a fancy restaurant setting but it definitely has a fancy restaurant taste. The grilled steak rice bowl I ordered was delicious. The veggies were fresh and steak was tender and flavorful. The Truffle mushroom pasta was also amazing. We will definitely come back for more.

Truffle Angus Fried Rice with Bone Marrow

My friends and I came here a few nights ago! I called in advance to make a reservation and we were seated outside. The girl who took care of us was attentive, giving us recommendations and answering any questions we had. I had the Truffle Angus Fried Rice with Bone Marrow. The flavors meshed so well together and I liked that it had a slight kick to it. I got a slice of the Black Sesame Basque Cheesecake on the house for my birthday, and I believe one of the owners came out wish me happy birthday when we lit a sparkler up. I'm excited to return to try their other dishes.

Truffle mushroom fettuccine

I had high expectations for this place since reading the good reviews and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, to answering our questions, to ordering and eating the food, the whole experience was absolutely delightful! The food came out within a reasonable time and portions were filling. The drinks are average but all the dishes we ordered were delicious and tasty. I'm not a fan of cheesecake, but the dessert was so scrumptious, would definitely be coming back!

All taste good :P Ordered Crispy Sour Spicy Brussel Sprouts, Truffle Mushroom Alfredo Fettuccine, Crawfish Angel Hair and Steak. You mush try the black sesame cheese cake!

Tiramisu (A must for any tiramisu lover! Light, creamy)

This place completely surprised me! We came on a Thursday night just expecting a casual family dinner. My daughter chose this restaurant, and honestly I didn't know what to expect, the menu looked different from the usual spots we go to. But every single dish turned out amazing. Who says pasta has to be best at an Italian restaurant, or that ribeye can only shine at a steakhouse? Here, the dishes feel like a thoughtful East meets West twist, and the flavors are even better than many traditional places. You can taste the creativity and the heart the chef (also the owner) puts into the food. Another thing I really love: everything was delicious without being overly salty,a detail that made the meal even more enjoyable. Simply put: everything was delicious. I'm usually a picky eater, but I'll definitely be coming back here often. Highly recommended!

A little gem in RH. It's a husband and wife owned business. Sam is the chef and Kate is a pastry chef. It's their passion to create their own delicious plates All the food taste very good with nice presentation. We tried black sesame cheese cake which is full of flavor and not too sweet

My mom and I shared a bowl of the mushroom truffle pasta and a steak & grain bowl. You get a satisfying mouthful bite from the wide pasta noodles covered in all that creamy flavorful sauce, & the steak was so soft to chew and perfectly cooked to medium rare perfection! even the rice & veggies in the steak bowl were full of flavor! This restaurant is owned by a couple and the name of the restaurant is named after them, which I thought was so sweet! I love when couples come together with their passions & they share it with the world you can tell the food is cooked with love! Thank you for the kind service & quality food you two!! I will definitely come back to try other things on the menu :)

Could not have been happier. From the moment we walked through the heavy wooden door (fancy!) until we left- the host, the waitress, server, manager and even the owner were amazingly attentive and welcoming. When it's your birthday they put a nice sign at your table and everyone stops by to wish you an amazing bday. They also check in to make sure you're having a good time and enjoying your delicious meal. Now for the food: fresh, al dente and tasty. All adjectives you want running through your mind after the first bitesss. We ordered stuffed mushroom- hot and nicely seasoned. Mushrooms not overcooked and stuffing not overly cheesy. The shrimp linguine another hit with fresh tomatoes and jumbo shrimp with a nice snap. The light seasoning with lots of garlic was just perfect. We also ordered the beef short ribs. My friend said it melted on her mouth and the fresh mash potatoes- just right. Did I mention the portions were huge! Lots of goodies to take with us. To add to the dining experience we watched as patrons steadily came and went throughout the evening. You can tell this is a favorite for many. There were High-5s, handshakes and lots of "Welcome back friends!" Just an overall beautifully decked out neighborhood restaurant with so much heart and soul. I heard that the restaurant has been handed down from their grandparents... I'm sure they would be very proud. Highly recommend.

The meal started out well with the Caprese, which was actually good. Next came our entree, the carbonara was even worse and by far the biggest disappointment of the meal--the pasta was so overcooked that the sauce completely dried up and turned into scrambled eggs. The "poached egg" on top was also completely well-done, so it literally felt like eating boiled eggs with dry, bland pasta. After that, they brought out our other appetizer, the stuffed mushrooms, which were also noticeably under-seasoned. Finally, the pizza arrived, which was decent, but it's pretty hard to mess up a pizza. The service just made everything worse. Our server told us right at the beginning that sourdough bread was coming out, but it never arrived--we only realized it after we paid the check. Our water glasses were never refilled once throughout our stay. To top it off, when the desserts were brought out, our server just dropped them in the middle of our large table without giving us any small plates and completely disappeared. Because we were seated at the large table, it was really awkward for everyone to reach and share. Since our server was nowhere to be found, we actually had to flag down a completely different server just to get small plates. Our original server only finally resurfaced when we asked for the check. Between the bland food and the total lack of basic service, we definitely won't be coming back.

Upon walking into this establishment, i got this weird unfriendly vibe. Thats fine, let the food speak for itself. I ordered the eggplant ricotta w penne, chicken alfredo, and a beef dip to go. Pasta for both dishes are mushy and overcooked. The alfredo sauce was curdled and clumpy and needed salt. I did ask for extra sauce, but this wasnt the issue. Beef sandwich was dry, but hey thats what the dipping broth is for. Unfortunately the broth/au jus was SOUR. I thought it was spoiled and the taste almost made me vomit. Like imagine youre expecting beef broth flavor and instead you get some vinegary liquid taste. I called them and they said the chef JUST tasted it and said they added too much worchestershire sauce. Ok, ill give them the benefit of the doubt that their broth wasnt spoiled since i did taste the worchestershire. BUT why isnt the chef tasting as they cook to control their food quality? I paid for this nasty, sour broth i cant even finish bc it is so gross and taste fermented. Aside from the mushy pasta, the eggplant ricotta was ok. The marinara sauce they use is way too salty. Again, must be bc they dont taste what they cook. In total i spent around $50, and the food is disappointing enough that i wont be returning.
