I was in the area and saw that a new malatang place opened up in this plaza. Small seating area but they do have a good small selection of toppings in a cute cat decor setting. They carry celtuce, broccoli, wintermelon, bok choy, romaine lettuce, and bean sprouts. They have 3 types of mushrooms, spam, various fishcakes, quail eggs, lotus root, tofu, bamboo, shrimp, squid, tripe, sliced beef, and pork, and wood ear mushrooms. The sauce bar had the basic with black vinegar, soy sauce, chopped garlic, cilantro, chili oil, sesame paste, oyster sauce, and shacha sauce. The broth was good, they had several types of broth and spice level. The staff is nice and the place is clean. Parking lot is a good size.

What a cute restaurant! We randomly looked up yelp for this place and decided to give it a try. The price is same/ close to other malatang places. Only difference is that they sell other dishes which we liked. Service was good, I think she's the owner (she was nice). The only thing I didn't like is the tea. They had greentea and some other tea option. I thought it was black tea at first but due to communication issue, I guess it wasn't black tea? But yeah we will definitely come back when we're nearby. The food themselves were good!

Decided to try this spot since it just opened, and wow--I'm so glad I did! The tomato broth was AMAZING. Super flavorful, smooth, and not overpowering at all. Easily a 10/10. The meat was delicious and tasted fresh, definitely not frozen. The veggies were also really good and blended perfectly into the broth. The sauce bar had all the classic options you'd expect at a hot pot spot, which was a huge plus. The fried enoki mushrooms with pork floss were incredible--solid 9/10. The kimchi was pretty good (7/10), and the wood ear salad was an easy 8/10. The popcorn chicken was okay (6/10); the breading wasn't mixed evenly, but still worth trying. They offer pork bone, beef, tomato, and malatang soup bases, so there's something for everyone. The food selection was a bit less than the ones in Rowland Heights. The restaurant is super clean, very organized, and just overall a great vibe. I'd definitely come back and can't wait to eat here again!

Good service and we love late night Malatang. My daughter and I came here after DB high open house night at around 8:30pm. The server welcomed us in and made sure we were not rushed.

Stumbled into here while looking for lunch in the area. Super cute cat themed chinese hot pot restaurant. Friendly service and helpful staff, delicious food and decent prices with lots of toppings and sauces. Basically think subway but for chinese hotpot, where there's a bar and you build your own bowl. They also have normal menu items to order; I got the popcorn chicken rice meal that came with a fried egg, and combined with the hotpot it came with free squid balls which I loved, and you can see in the photo with these amazing chopsticks :$. Good food and good portions. Would come back!

For skewers, we also ordered the squid, beef, and potato skewers which were all very tasty. Not alot of char but the meats were fairly tender. The golden pot was a pretty surprising hit at our table. The gold almost florescent broth has an interesting sour kick, almost like pickled veggies. Soup was a nice contrast to the meaty skewers and came with a variety of hot pot favorites like fish cake, imitation crab, napa cabbage, wood ear mushroom, vermicelli, and thinly sliced meat. Also when they see that you are running low on broth, they will pour some more in. This was especially helpful because they serve this over a fire which can evaporate alot of the soup. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated, and was even packed on a Monday night. Had a great experience and the food felt very familiar!

Fortunately, they serve both. We both love siomai, duck, and crispy salted squid so we ordered the trio. The siomai was fresh. Tasted as if it was just off a lunch cart. It's delicious and the serving size is quite generous. The price is unbeatable too. We really enjoyed its balanced taste. Sometimes, siomai can be a bit bland but this was packed with flavor. The Peking Duck was great too. Reminded us of our time in Hong Kong. Less oily but still delicious. The buns were great too. We both enjoyed every bite. The sauce was excellent too. It had sweetness to it from the pineapple sauce. The salted crispy squid is balanced. Salty yet a bit sweet. It's definitely more of the indulgent side of things. Best paired with rice. We skip the carbs that night, but we'll definitely order this again paired with something else. The service here is great. Everyone is welcoming and helpful. It doesn't feel like rushed service. Ambiance here feels like your typical Chinese restaurant. It's clean and you can tell it has aged over time. You're here for the good food though, not the aesthetics. The pancakes are homemade, generous marinated beef, just like what I grew up with down to the cilantro and scallion. This is where Duck Palace really earns its name. The skin hits that ideal balance--lightly crisp with a slight lacquered sheen--while the meat underneath stays juicy and flavorful without being overly fatty. It's not trying to be trendy or reinvent anything; it's just done right. The seasoning leans traditional Cantonese--savory, slightly sweet, and aromatic without being heavy-handed. I did not try the supporting dishes, but they had a good variety outside the roast duck. This is where you can tell whether a place is a one-hit wonder or a true kitchen. They had BBQ combo plates, stir-fried dishes, and various sides. Service here is efficient, is part of the charm. You're coming for good food, done well. Best to call in to reserve a duck ahead of time because they will sell out by mid-afternoon. The space itself is clean and straightforward--more casual than upscale--but comfortable enough for both quick meals and relaxed family meals. What I appreciate most about Duck Palace is the consistency. The price is reasonable for what you are paying for and the duck combo meal is enough to feed 2-3 people. Pro tips: - Go earlier in the day if you want the freshest roast selections. - Takeout holds up surprisingly well (the duck skin still has some integrity if you don't let it sit too long). - Great option when you want authentic flavors without driving deeper into the valley. - Discount for paying in cash Bottom line: If you're in Diamond Bar and craving authentic Cantonese roast meats, Duck Palace is a reliable go-to. It may not be flashy, but it delivers where it counts--and sometimes, that's exactly what you want.

It was 79 degrees inside, muggy, humid, and completely uncomfortable. We almost turned around and left immediately. The place was practically empty, which honestly should have been our first red flag. We decided to give them a chance anyway. Big mistake. My colleague and I were offered water or hot tea. We both ordered hot tea. The menu clearly says in English that hot tea is $2.99. Nowhere does it clearly explain in English that you will be charged differently depending on how many people drink it. When the bill came, we were charged $5 each. Apparently, there is some clarification written in Chinese, but how are customers who do not read Chinese supposed to know that? That is completely misleading. The tea portions were not larger, not special, nothing different. Just basic tea. The pricing felt deceptive. We also ordered popcorn chicken and chili wonton soup. Both came out in tiny portions that looked like appetizers, yet the menu does not clearly label them as such. For what we received, paying over $30 total felt ridiculous. The food itself was mediocre at best. Nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price. Because of the uncomfortable temperature, confusing pricing, small portions, and average food, we chose not to leave a tip. As we were walking out, the waiter chased us outside and pressured us about the zero tip. That is completely inappropriate. Tipping is not mandatory. It is earned. Confronting customers outside over a tip is unprofessional and embarrassing.
