I am very surprised by the five-star reviews, but the good news is I didn't have a break out or reaction to the products for the 70-minute-deep pore facial. Sammi was thorough and communicated with me during the service which I liked. The extractions at times were painful but I didn't see any redness or welts and my face wasn't very oily afterwards. That usually happens and then I'm off to the restroom to wipe my face. I failed to review the details again beforehand but later I read about a shoulder massage. I told Sammi I just wanted extractions but she insisted that the face and shoulder massage were included and will be done. What wasn't mentioned is that a breast exam, I mean a chest massage was included. The woman who did the majority of the face and chest massage, lowered my wrap robe, exposing the top of my breast and rubbed from the neck down. At times, my body shook as she moved her hands side to side. Inappropriate. I couldn't understand the massage below the sternal. I've been getting facials for over 22 years and this has never happened! Gave me vibes of a massage parlor or happy ending. I wind up telling the woman that she can start on my facial now, then she stopped and Sammi came over. Later, Sammi said the back and front massage is for lymphatic circulation. (Shoulders and breast aren't the same) Perhaps mention that in the description as some people are private and modest. But if I have to be a whistleblower to warn others so be it. This is a no-frills kind of deal. The building is full of different services, offices and suites. When you walk in the facility there is a small area and 2 rooms. There isn't much privacy and you hear everything. Sammi doesn't close the door when talking to customers and she's conducting business as usual. When I got up she had the door open while I was changing into my shirt, and there was a sheet separating me from the next bed. This is what happens when you cut corners and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars at a real spa. If something feels wrong, it usually is. Sammi shared she found a lump in a woman's breast, yet her hands shouldn't have been there PERIOD. Women should be examining their breasts regularly. The only people who should be touching them are you, your physician and spouse consensually. I told her to add the chest massage in the title, since it's just as long as the facial massage. I found this service to be too long anyway. 45 minutes would've sufficed. My suggestion is to take your business elsewhere or stop them from getting fresh. I even hear men being taken advantage of during massages; rubbing genitals and the rest. There are too many freaks in these places unfortunately. After sharing my discourse, no apology was given. She said over 10,000 clients like the massages. A facial is a facial. Keep it clean. read more

What a Cute Little Diamond of a Skincare Studio I found. Sammi Beauty Studio is Woman owned and operated. It's small and quaint but clean and warm feeling. My facialist was Jessie and she had the touch of an angel. I usually despise extractions but her touch was firm and not to jabby (IYKYK). I highly recommend the Gua Sha facial add on. I was so impressed I went for a package of 5 sessions. I will do monthly visits. Another added bonus is the location- right next to Herald Square.....So, this studio is a win on soooo many levels. I first discovered Sammi Beauty Studio on Groupon and made an appointment! I really like how they add a shoulder massage along with a facial, as I am in need of a massage occasionally. The place is located in the heart of K-town. The service is really sweet and their studio is very comfortable. They have blankets when you lie down and also provide water (if needed)! Their facial is very thorough and they do great extractions. Granted, extractions hurt but the results are so worth it! They also give your neck and arms a massage as well. Lash lift. Don't do it here. I laid there for half an hour and my lashes don't look lifted nor tinted lol. I know they're short, but usually when I've gotten them done at other places, they still have a curve where if you're looking from the front you see lil lashes poking up above my eye. Not here idk maybe the silicon thing they put on the eye to help establish the curve wasn't C enough. read more

Sammi's is located on the 16th floor of a business building right next to hmart. I was browsing the pulsd website and saw good reviews on yelp, so I called to check availability for the 70 minute facial with shoulder massage before I bought the deal. She told me not to get the pulsd deal, and instead she'd honor the price in person. It's very easy to make an appointment since she communicates with you via text The room is very no frills, which I don't mind because that's usually what my facial and massage experiences are like anyways in Chinatown. The whole facial was very relaxing and seemed thorough - cleanse, steam, extractions, mask. At the end I was a little surprised by the pricing. The pulsd deal was for $39, but they asked me for $49, which I didn't argue with but the math didn't make sense to me. They also suggested the tip % to be based on a $150 original price, which I don't think any of their clients pay after reading reviews (since they offer packages that are significantly lower). I also don't think the facial was worth $150, because my skin texture unfortunately returned to normal (flaky and dry) after 2 days :/ read more

I went for a facial here yesterday. First of all, the small bed had blankets that who knows when the last time they've been laundered was. The woman then steamed my face but after that proceeded to massage my face and shoulders. the extractions weren't performed until much later, long after my face had been steamed. as a result the extractions hurt so bad that tears were running down my face. in every facial i've received before, extractions were performed right after steaming. the woman didn't speak english which is fine, however she couldn't tell me what she was doing or what products she was using. at the end, she left for so long while I had a mask on my face because she was busy working on another client in the next room. she went back and forth working on a different client and me without washing hands in between. I was also really disappointed that no SPF was applied at the end, and it was 1pm. overall bad experience. my face was still angry and irritated when I woke up this morning. read more

I loved my last facial with Sammi (and am going back for more) for three reasons: 1) I left totally glowing last time. I came in with dry, dull skin and clogged pores and left with radiant, super SOFT, happy skin! 2) She creates the most relaxing vibe. For the appointment, I had Jessie and it was so soothing when she massaged my face. I haven't gotten extractions before so I didn't know it would be slightly painful, so keep that in mind if you're getting the deep pore facial. I got the Groupon deal and I think you get what you pay for - the ambiance doesn't really feel like a spa but I felt like my facial was decent. She did extractions and put a lot of oils on my face but I didn't feel it was as deep as other facials I've had. However, for the price - a steal! If you want a long facial for $50 - this is the place to go. Would probably go back in a year or so if I was tight on cash and wanted a facial, but if you want the "spa experience" go to a real spa and spot the cash. read more
