Went here for a quick lunch yesterday and got their roasted garlic chicken vegetable soup. Wow, the soup was so delicious. It was not super salty and had tons of flavor. The soup had tons of vegetables--potatoes, celery, peppers, tomatoes--so yummy!! I got the medium size with a slice of bread and it just cost $5! I ended up eating some for lunch and the rest for dinner. I love that they rotate their soups daily and have fresh sandwiches available too. I have esophageal damage. I ordered a sub from Sammy's with pickles. It was made with hot peppers. Spicy food causes me physical pain. I called, was respectful, and asked for it to be remade. A second trip was made to pick up the remade sandwich. A manager was notified of the error and said "shit happens." Yes. It does. But that's also a completely inappropriate response. I called and spoke with another manager who was more understanding, which was appreciated. Errors with food can significantly harm someone with sensitivities, allergies, or digestive damage. "Shit happens" but it can be avoided with caution. This is NOT an establishment you want to visit if you have any food allergies or aversions. I have ordered from here for years and this was a big disappointment. I will not return and encourage others to reconsider ordering here. read more

Normally I would give this place a 5 star rating. But unfortunately I have to give it 4. My coworker was very excited for the hot and sour oriental chicken soup. It said on the website it was on the menu, but when he got there...not only was there no soup, it turns out it wasn't even an option for that day! He was so distraught that he came back to the office and couldn't work. Sitting in his cubicle, head down, defeated. He felt like he got jerked around, as if we don't get jerked around as SDRs enough. The one time where he can dissociate from reality is our lunch break and he couldn't even escape it for his 1 hour lunch break with a cup of hot and sour oriental chicken soup. This place is NOT vegan friendly and barely even vegetarian friendly! And forget if it you're gluten intolerant. Somehow in 2022 this place doesn't have gluten free bread for sandwiches. I asked if they had a single soup with no meat in it and got looked at sideways. There was literally nothing I could eat in the entire place except for potato chips. Unreal. I went next door to Domino's for a salad instead. Get with the times!!! - why does a place like this have NO veg friendly or GF options when you make everything from scratch? Fabulous sandwiches with generously loade helpings, super FRESH bread --Delicious soups--seating areas to eat--great take out--nice, friendly service. And completely spic and span clean!!! Wow! What a find! This place rocks. A real deli with Boston style. I found this place on my way to the new Subway on Winn St. and then read all the great reviews and decided to stop by. A huge surprise indeed! A large room filled with an abundance of basic lunch to take home gourmet specialties. So much to see and EAT! For starter: A soup station (Italian wedding, chicken noodle, corn chowder, and chili), order at the counter deli which offers Boar's Head meats and cheeses, fresh breads and made on site salads. The cold case is chock full of take home meals and dinners in large and small portion sizes (mac and cheese, shrimp & pasta in garlic & oil). One can get a half sandwich with a soup purchase for only $2.99! a SUPER DEAL. In fact, all Sammy's prices are so reasonable and the quality great with a good amount of food. Sandwich specials daily. Dear Carl, " More free food" would imply that there was free food. All we asked for was a refund for just 1 of the 2 salads that were an hour late by gift card not cash ($6.95?). Free food was never asked for and no compensation of any kind was given to us even though 2 out of 3 items order were completely wrong. There was one missing salad, and one salad you completely messed up on. We even gave you back the wrong salad, so no free items there. Yes, you tried to "fix it" twice by delivering the items twice after we had to call you twice. For an order of 3 things: Soup and 2 salads you made 3 trips. You were working at 34% accuracy for our order. I feel you imply that out of "500 lunch" orders our order was not important to you. One star for customer service 3 stars for food if they deliver it right. read more

I had to stop at Sammy's one morning because I forgot my daughters school lunch at home. We live 15 minutes in the opposite direction so I ran over on her preschool teachers recommendation. They were amazingly understanding and helpful. They went out of their way to put together a lunch bag appropriate for a little one. Whatever you do, don't even think about going here - their sandwiches are gross and a huge disappointment. I got a buffalo chicken sub and I wanted to throw it in the garbage before I even tried a bite. To start, bright orange buffalo sauce everywhere, and I mean everywhere: all over the packaging, all over your hands if you try to pick it up, the lettuce on it was inedible considering how it was literally drowning in sauce, the bread was basically one step behind that also drowning in sauce. It was just incredibly sloppy work - honestly it looked like a murder scene. Now I gave them the benefit of the doubt, after this disgusting sight, to actually try and eat a little... I think they make these sandwiches blindfolded, or maybe they make the chicken blindfolded, or maybe they blindfold themselves when they take the chicken out of the package that it comes in - I really don't know. I already said that the lettuce might as well not have been there because it was so drenched, same thing with the tomatoes, and well also the entire sub roll, but I attempted to clean the orange chicken off and try a bite. That didn't happen, the meat was grey. Every single piece I cleaned off had grey ends, grey sides, it was absolutely vile. I threw it in the trash - where it belongs. Complete waste of money, and time, and effort, and just about anything. I honestly don't even know how this place has stayed in business this long. The absolute best Deli around. Not only is this the third day in a row that I have went to Sammy's for lunch but it is the third menu option that I decided to devour and wow ... it time for a nap. Seriously though, the food is incredibly delicious, the service is fast and tentative. The parking is a pain but I would walk a mile up hill to have lunch there. Day #1 Fit and trim Turkey AMAZING. The cranberry horseradish cream an amazing addition! Day #2 Buffalo chicken--- shredded chix breast with tangy hot sauce and the works, bleu cheese, tomatoes, romaine lettuce and onions! Heaven in a whole wheat wrap! Day #3 Beef lentil soup with fresh scali bread!! just the right thing for a cold rainy day! Reasonably priced and a GO TO place for lunch. read more

A coworker of my moms brought her some soup from Sammys earlier this week. So today we stopped in to grab some sandwiches and soup. Sadly they only had two soups available and we weren't interested in them, but we figured we would still get sandwiches. I got the New Orleans, my mom got the Sicilian, and my boyfriend got a buffalo chicken sub. We also got a side loaded baked potato salad, a side buffalo pasta salad, and a side veggie tray. As we were heading to check out we grabbed two cookies and an Oreo cheesecake. Everything we've eaten has been beyond amazing. We order lunch at work from Sammy's at least once a week. They do a great job with most everything. They have fun specials daily and their soups are usually quite good (although the chicken noodle was quite salty the other day, this is not common). Their Italian subs are great, their selection of turkey slices is wonderful and their salads are amazing. I recently ordered my first salad from them (garden salad with chicken salad on top)....it was great! They did not put too much chicken salad on top, so it did not overwhelm the salad. The salad itself was mixed greens (kudos to them for not using iceberg like everyone else) topped with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, roasted red peppers and onions. They did not skimp on any of these ingredients either. I think I have found my new lunch food. The only issue we have ever had was with their pastrami. They had a great sounding pastrami special one day and it was not good. They grilled the pastrami like you would shaved steak, but it turned the pastrami crusty and difficult to eat. They only deserve to lose a half a star for that, but they also have very limited delivery hours and even then will only deliver if your order is $20 or more. So, Sammy's gets 4 stars. read more
