Very good service from Tarryn, my server, and Daniel/"Da Boss" when I whined my gumbo wasn't spicy enough. Tasty though, just add some Tabasco. Stuffed jalapenos REAL GOOD, stuffed with seafood & only touch of cheese, unlike some places loading up on the jack. Crab puffs pretty good too. Came here with laptop hoping to knock out some work. Wi-Fi good signal & of course free. Only drawback is couldn't find an outlet, so walk over to Land of Thousand Hills when battery on fumes. This place sucksssssssssss. I wish I could give it negative stars. Do not waste your money. We keep giving it another chance, but never again. The last two times we went we ordered their overpriced, sub par food. Nothing has any flavor. Service sucks worse than their food. Wife and I had a rare kids free night out so went and got on the waiting list at Ambriza. In the meantime went to Sams Boat. My reasoning was the place sucks and everyone knows this, so we can easily get a few drinks. We go in and sit at the bar. This dude behind the bar and a few waitresses walked past us 3 or 4 times and didn't acknowledge our presence. Finally I flagged down the bartender and he gives us a drink menu. Then he walks to the other end of the bar and proceeds to BS with his friends and never even comes back. We waited probably ten mins. Finally got up and walked out. Again, this place sucksssssssss!!! This was my first visit to this location. I need to disclose upfront that it was the last day of school and the area was packed. Went in for dinner around 7 PM. My group of 4 ordered the shrimp and oyster Poboys. Fish tacos and crab balls. We waited over an hour for dinner and when we received our food it was just OK. The portions were OK except for the onion rings were a little small. The wait staff seemed very busy and our waitress was hard to find most of the evening. All in all we were there almost 2 hours by the time we place orders and received our bill. It's a nice place especially with the lake right there. But I don't think this is some place Ill return to or visit frequently. Overall poor experience. read more

We were hoping for a 30-45 lunch that was easily 1.5 hours and we arrived near 1:00 pm when no one was there. This place was huge! Very open layout and overlooking the lake. Gorgeous by the way. We had stopped by for a quick lunch. Menu was quite overwhelming. Lots to chose from. We just got a boat sampler and a dozen of oysters on the half shell. Oysters were really well cleaned but super white looking. lol that looked odd to me. It tasted fine but wish it was more cold. It was kind of room temperature when we got them. Even though it was on a bed of ice, still think it could of been a lot colder. The boat sampler was tasty. Can't go wrong with anything fried! Calamari was nice and crispy. The crab balls weren't really hot. But it tasted yummy after I had dipped it into the crab queso. The crab queso was my favorite. Literally just dipped all my fried food into it! Haha best idea yet. The place is nice and comfy. I love that they have a tv at each booth! Pretty neat. The first time we ate here was Monday, Aug 12, 2019 around 5-5:30 ish. We sat ourselves at the bar area and our server was Jackie. She wowed is with her wonderful personality, genuine smile and great customer service. She introduced herself clearly as well as the bartender at that time, Denver. I had iced tea, hubby had his vodka, I ordered fried fish tacos which I think is the best fish tacos I've had so far & enjoyed the chips which I dipped in queso blanco. Hubby ordered his burger and fries and he was very pleased. We decided that this Sam's Boat is perfect (I'm not sure if it's the same as the one in the galleria which my in laws liked very much.) Anyway, we went back again the next day. Jackie wasn't there. Our server introduced herself but it we didn't catch her name. She was nice enough though I think she's not big on clearing stuff from the table like empty glasses but at least, the drinks were arriving. We ordered some boneless chicken wings and sliders. It was a lot of food for two people and we really enjoyed it. Our server was about to leave for the day so she informed us that she was handing us over to someone else and took time to get hubby a refill for his drink. This time, we met Denver and he was nice and attentive and made the transition easy. We decided that Sam's Boat is still ok, food is good. We skipped a day and went back on Thursday. Someone was working the bar and we were sure she saw us, we waited for some time but nobody came to even ask if we wanted anything. At the back, i could see the staff having a meeting of sorts, there was someone who served a table in the dining area and another next to the door. After some time, hubby went to the bar and tried to get the bartender's attention who was excellent at avoiding eye contact. When he finally got to speak with her, her reply was "I can help you if you want help." So when he came back to our table, we decided to leave. Just as we stood up, another female server approached us looking clueless. I told her what happened and she apologized. But it was too late so we left. Next door, we found a fun place with great food and excellent service. This experience though made me understand why the rating for this place is so low even when the food is good. read more

Went for a late lunch today since we were in the area. We haven't been there in a while but don't plan to return. Our waitress was rude and very disappointing. Took forever to bring our drinks and appetizers. She totally disregarded our request and when we requested the manager it took him over 10 minutes to come to our table. This was my first time in towne lakes and it was superb. Sam's GM (Grant) was so friendly and so hospitable and was honestly the reason we came in. We got the wings and they were great! I had the snapper with rice and asparagus for my entree and a brownie for dessert. Wished a little more ice cream came with it but other than that no complaints read more

She was so helpful and made sure that I got my drinks really quickly. And honestly, that's the best part of a bar.. lol the drinks. So, the speediness of that was good. I have been here several times, mostly because there isn't really a sports/casual atmosphere any closer to my house. I believe the only reason this place will stay in business is because of the location. The food here is pretty bad. It has somehow gotten worse since they opened back in March. The service is okay. I had pretty terrible service this past weekend but my other trips haven't been so bad. We were ignored most of the time and had to flag our waitress, Ashley B, down multiple times. I would definitely stay away from the calamari which actually used to be good. It's bascially just a tasteless pile of breading, grease, and chewy tentacles. I wanted so much for this to be amazing! The view is awesome , the restaurant looks so good and it just looks like an amazing venue! But no. The service was sooooo slow!! Our waitress was sweet when she did come around but she rarely did . I had to ask 3 times for silverware , ranch and napkins and once even walked to the bar to ask and the Bartender said she would get my server. Still nothing. I ordered the stuffed jalapeños and crawfish The jalapeños were good but cold. The crawfish tasted great but really small -it's early so understandable. I'm going to give it a second chance because I liked the location-surroundings etc ... I really hope it's better! Oh and it wasn't busy at all. Sam's is just a neighborhood/family sports bar. The food isn't spectacular but it isn't horrible. They have really good drink specials and amazing queso....which is the main reason I keep going back. The wait staff is always friendly and it never takes long for them to come and take your order. The place is kind of small, but even at peak times, I've never had to wait more than 20 min for a table. The main negative thing I have to say is that the tables/TV's are always dirty. A quick wipe down would be nice, especially the TV's since the point is for people to look at them. They are filled with dust, greasy fingerprints and crust. I will preface this with the fact that if I could give this place a lower rating, I totally would. I have had multiple years of experience working in kitchens as well as serving tables in fine dining. To begin with, signage. There are literally NO signs to find this place except on the building it's located on to the very far back of the plaza. Then you have to figure out which door is the entrance to the restaurant (there is a kitchen/employee entrance that seems like it should be the main entrance). It seems to me that they opened before they were ready. Staff is not trained very well. Everything from kitchen to servers were sub par. I went with 3 friends while there was maybe 2 other tables for a staff of 6-9 servers, 5 busser and at least 4 kitchen staff. I started out with root beer and waters for the table with popcorn shrimp and cape shark as an app. They forgot to bring out the last glass of water and brought it out with the entrees. Beer was $10 for a corona ($6 is standard at most bars). At about 20min, the server takes our entree orders. We order wings, oyster poboy and a BBQ chicken club I requested a crawfish and shrimp etoufee. Server informs me they're out of etoufee, mind you this is at 4pm with almost no one in the restaurant and I'm trying to wrap my head around how they ran out of etoufee. I opt for the wings. After a full 25 min the cape shark was brought to the table. Overcooked. More of a milk chocolate than a golden brown. Whatever. I wait another 5 minutes and ask about the popcorn shrimp, my server assures me its on its way. At about 35 min from initial seating, server brings out entrees and informs me they ran out of shrimp but it had just arrived and could be made now. I opted out of it since my entree had arrived. After taking a look at all the plates we dig in. Mango habanero wings had a good sauce. The wing pieces were really just frozen chicken chunks. The Parmesan garlic wings were poorly sauced. Ended up with a glob of sauce on one piece and dipped my other wings onto it. Coleslaw on the poboy had to have been very old. It was over seasoned and VERY watery, turned the bun into a sloppy mess before we could fold both halves of the sandwich in. The oyster was very undercooked. Tasted frozen from a plastic bag. Complete mush and no flavor. The BBQ chicken club had NO bacon on it. The entire time this train wreck of food is happening in front of us, neither the server nor manager bother to check how our table is doing. I cannot figure out what their chef is trying to do. Overall, food and service are awful. I would not recommend to anyone. I may visit again in 6 months of they're still around. Pros: at least 40 TVs in the place. Including tables. My husband and I have been here several times. We love to sit outside and enjoy the scenic view. The service and food has always been great without incident except for one time. I'm very surprised to see all the negative reviews. Every business will have it's good days as well as bad days. People are human, sometimes people call in sick and the business is short staffed. Mistakes happen we're all human. I think too many people use online reviews as a way to use the business as a punching bag for their other issues. Went for lunch today and I really liked the setup. Pretty location on the water and it was cool that the booths had TVs. Food wise-not great. It was not busy, but we waited 1 1/2 for cold fish, a grocery store bag of lettuce with a little avocado on top that they called a salad and the worst, most tasteless hamburger I've ever tasted in my life. We came here for dinner on a Friday at 7 (during Lent). There weren't too many people waiting for a table- I guess this should have been the first sign to leave. We were seated and gave the waitress our order. Our app came after we received our meal. Meal was cold. Had to go to the bar for silverware. Our waitress obviously avoided coming to our table. Manager comped the whole meal and we left. For the price and quality of the food I will not be coming back. Such a shame because the outside views are nice.
