I had eaten Sam's Bar-B-Q at our downtown cook-off's (which he usually wins), but had never visited his actual business until this past week. Sam waited on me. I ordered a pound of pulled pork, a medium size potato salad, and a medium sized bar-b-que beans. Sam loaded me up! My wife and ate this delicious food for 3-meals! Ribs chicken pulled pork with sausage: along with baked beans and Cole slaw. Spicy mustard sauce was the bomb. Got some to go, along with fried skins. I'll have to sneak some while Mrs isn't looking later. Wall filled with BBQ trophies, well deserved. My husband and I travel all over the country and we love to try local barbecue. This was the perfect place. I got the pulled pork sandwich. It was delicious! Warning, the portions are huge. My husband got the 1/2 slab of ribs. We would recommend getting the sauce on them. We also had the coleslaw. It was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this spot if you love barbecue. While traveling to Valdosta, I visited Sam's BBQ late January 2025 and had such a wonderful experience, I returned twice more on consecutive days!! The food is AMAZING! The BBQ ribs and chicken were cooked to perfection! Sam gave me a bag of his freshly homemade pork-rhines and a jar of his famous sauce... to die for!! I also tried the fried fish and had an order for another guest at my hotel as the delicious smelling food drove everyone crazy! The staff at Sam's is super awesome as well. The price was great compared to what you get. The portions are huge and the food is out of this world. I ordered a rib dinner and my husband ordered a pulled pork dinner. Ok, if you can get over the seedy location this place is wonderful. We had the pulled pork and ribs all of which were really freaking good. This place seems to do lots of business (especially on the weekend) and even sells out of items. When we were there they sold out of some kind of sandwich. Oh and beware, they are closed on Mondays. I haven't eaten here personally, so I can't attest to quality of the food. My son has eaten there and he tells me that it is fantastic. So, why am I writing this review? Because my aforementioned son was strained in Valdosta, hungry and broke. He phoned me (I was over 300 miles away) for help. I began searching on the web for a restaurant where I could give my credit card information to so he could eat. In short, I was having no success until I called Sam's Carry Out. He told me that he didn't have a credit card machine but that he would feed my son and that I could "pay him when I came by". I explained that I was 300 miles away, but he said, "send him over and pay me when you can". When I do get to Valdosta, I will not only pay and tip him, I will will be happy to enjoy a meal myself.
