We had our dog so we got it to go and sat outside. There are a couple of tables there. There is a separate to go order area, which is nice. The food was phenomenal! We got brisket, chicken and sausage. And some spicy burnt ends! The chicken was the star. But everything was great. Including the sides. Odd experience. we ordered fairly quickly and the staff were nice. however, the food took a very long time and we never got our appetizer. once the food finally came out, the brisket looked like a soggy bandaid & was tough, and the ribs smelled like fish. the sweet potato soufflé was really good, the pulled chicken was fine, and the mac and cheese was meh. the waitress did offer to remove the ribs from our ticket, so that was fine. everything was either mediocre or disgusting. sorry :/ read more

We LOVE Smokin Pig's pulled pork! Living in the Tampa Bay area, we try to time our trips to Atlanta so that we can stop on the way up or back. Yesterday's visit was again spectacular. Their pulled pork is truly mouthwatering and delicious! My husband even ordered a sandwich to go so he can eat that today. On this visit, service from Natalie was outstanding. The pork and the brisket were both tender, marbled, and moist. The meal came with two sides and we opted to upgrade to two salad and dessert bars. The salad bar was loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, ham, peppers, prepared salads, and a variety of dressings. The dessert bar had banana pudding, cobbler, and soft serve ice cream. I went with the 1/2 rack of St. Louis style ribs, a sweet potato, collard greens, and an extra side of fried okra. All the sides were outstanding but those ribs were the star of the show - smoked perfectly, tender, with just a slight pull off the bone. The only reason I can give this place one star is the burnt ends. They were good. Very good. Service was also good. Then there was the brisket. $20 worth of meat that I literally fed to my dog. It was the worst I've ever had in a lifetime of eating barbecue. See attached pictures. I asked for moist. I got the kind of brisket that probably will go to Mars because it's desiccated. The good news is you get a lot. The bad news is it's like eating the unholy union of jerky and cardboard. Additionally, whatever high school kid in the back is cutting the brisket doesn't know you're supposed to cut your dry nasty brisket AGAINST the grain. I got takeout while I was in Valdosta and only discovered the food was terrible after the restaurant had closed. They opened later than I needed to leave in the morning or I would've brought it back for the manager to sample. I spent a lot of time in the restaurant business. We stopped in on a trip down to Jacksonville. It was packed but we still got a table without any wait. Food was really good. We got a variety of items and all hit the mark. On top of the good food, the pricing and amount you get makes this a solid stop for those on a budget but wanting some good BBQ. Our waitress, Hannah, was super friendly and stopped in several times to make sure we had everything we needed. Also, don't skip out on the salad bar. It had a horrible taste and smell so we did not continue drinking it. We asked what type of smoker they used but the waitress didn't know and had to ask. She returned and stated they use a wood smoker. Back home you see smoke rolling from pellet smokers so we were curious if they were using an electric smoker. The food was good but didn't have that traditional smoky flavor. We were so excited to try the sweet potato waffle fries only to find out they don't have them anymore. Salad bar was fresh with good options. Chicken and ribs were so dry we couldn't get them down without water. Sides were meh except for sweet potato soufflé. Corn bread served dry without any butter. It was obvious the meat was prepared at some point in the past and then sat in a warming tray for however long...maybe microwaved to warm up as chicken was cool to the touch? Service was good and atmosphere was nice. Price point very reasonable. If you want salad and dessert, go for it. Cobbler was delicious. So glad we stayed nearby on our road trip. The hotel clerk recommended it, and I will come back every time I am in the area. Brisket and pork were so tender, bbq beans were so delicious, and the cornbread was perfect. Brunswick stew was good, but I would try the collards or slaw next time. The restaurant is also large, but they seem to get the people in fairly fast. I was short on time, so I called ahead to get some of the smoked wings and a side salad. I was surprised at how good this food was, and the price was reasonable. I love that they have a salad bar which I haven't seen before in a barbecue restaurant. We have eaten here for years. When we got there tonight, the first thing we saw was that the salad bar and dessert no longer comes with your meal anymore you have to pay $4. When we got our food, the meat was good as usual. However the bbq beans tasted like they had just opened a can and heated them up, not even any bbq sauce. The okra was hard, crusty and cold.
