Im not even a Bbq person but i love it here. True southern hospitality. You can smell the bbq a cooking a mile before even showing up to the place. Hanging out in the rocking chairs with a dessert after a good meal is highly recommended for the full experience

Odd experience. we ordered fairly quickly and the staff were nice. however, the food took a very long time and we never got our appetizer. once the food finally came out, the brisket looked like a soggy bandaid & was tough, and the ribs smelled like fish. the sweet potato soufflé was really good, the pulled chicken was fine, and the mac and cheese was meh. the waitress did offer to remove the ribs from our ticket, so that was fine. everything was either mediocre or disgusting. sorry :/

We LOVE Smokin Pig's pulled pork! Living in the Tampa Bay area, we try to time our trips to Atlanta so that we can stop on the way up or back. Yesterday's visit was again spectacular. Their pulled pork is truly mouthwatering and delicious! My husband even ordered a sandwich to go so he can eat that today. On this visit, service from Natalie was outstanding. She was very friendly and attentive to all our questions and needs. We left with 6 bottles of their delicious barbecue sauce and look forward to our next visit!!

1/2 rack St. Louis style ribs with collard greens and fried okra

I was traveling through Valdosta and found this place on Yelp, so glad I did. The service was top notch, waitress was super friendly and the food came out quickly. I went with the 1/2 rack of St. Louis style ribs, a sweet potato, collard greens, and an extra side of fried okra. All the sides were outstanding but those ribs were the star of the show - smoked perfectly, tender, with just a slight pull off the bone. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could, don't miss it if you are in Valdosta and are looking for authentic BBQ.

The food was tasty. The service was quick, our waitress was pleasant. There were some noisy kids around, so maybe not for a romantic date, but fine for a friends/fun/family meal. The ice cream looked a little weird, but was surprisingly delicious.

The worst brisket I've ever had.

The only reason I can give this place one star is the burnt ends. They were good. Very good. Service was also good. Then there was the brisket. $20 worth of meat that I literally fed to my dog. It was the worst I've ever had in a lifetime of eating barbecue. See attached pictures. I asked for moist. I got the kind of brisket that probably will go to Mars because it's desiccated. The good news is you get a lot. The bad news is it's like eating the unholy union of jerky and cardboard. Additionally, whatever high school kid in the back is cutting the brisket doesn't know you're supposed to cut your dry nasty brisket AGAINST the grain. I got takeout while I was in Valdosta and only discovered the food was terrible after the restaurant had closed. They opened later than I needed to leave in the morning or I would've brought it back for the manager to sample. I spent a lot of time in the restaurant business. How any manager let that go out the door is beyond me.

Cute restaurant. Love the decor. Love the add-ons for salad and dessert bar, however I feel the dessert bar could be better. Our food was good but the water was TERRIBLE! It had a horrible taste and smell so we did not continue drinking it. We asked what type of smoker they used but the waitress didn't know and had to ask. She returned and stated they use a wood smoker. Back home you see smoke rolling from pellet smokers so we were curious if they were using an electric smoker. The food was good but didn't have that traditional smoky flavor. We were so excited to try the sweet potato waffle fries only to find out they don't have them anymore. The Mac and cheese was still cold in the middle of the cup and was very bland.

For openers, if you think the best barbecue is usually found in the worst part of town, in a place…read morewith bars on the windows, and just enough grease on the table to write your initials - then this isn't it. This is a barbecue joint (anyplace that serves barbecue is, by definition, a joint) just off the highway in Valdosta, Georgia... and worth all the confusion created when Waze takes you a block too far, and Yelp says they're about to close their doors for the day, which just wasn't the case. The Woodstack BBQ Tavern came into being in 2015 when three guys bought an old liquor warehouse with a monstrous photo of the Budweiser Clydesdale team pulling their famous wagon spanning the front wall. No deal if the building didn't come with the Budweiser mural. Two of thee three, Justin and Randy are running the place now and about to open another in Thomasville. For a guy who has spent a lifetime in pursuit of the perfect barbecue (read my more than 120 barbecue reviews from across the country on Yelp), this is a jewel worth all the confusion finding them and finding them open. Other reviews touch on the friendliness and they're right on... call for info (are you open, Yelp says you're about to close), to when you come thru the door, place your order and pay the tab, it/'s like your back home neighborhood diner. Lisa seems to be keeping things under control out front while folks in the kitchen keep the great 'cue coming. And at good prices. We had the three meat special (with two sides) for $28, but only after some freshly cooked, well seasoned pork rinds ($11 for a healthy serving)... Burnt ends (started by Arthur Bryant in Kansas City more than 50 years ago) were tender, flush with flavor and a great choice. The ribs were good complete with a validating smoke ring, but the best of the threesome we gorged on was the pulled pork. Some of the best the Brown Shoe Gourmet has enjoyed in some time. We skipped their fries (frozen with seasoning) and had their homemade chips (excellent), slaw (slaw that was just that) and fried Brussel sprouts for the one amongst us who doesn't understand that's not a legitimate barbecue joint side dish. She raved about them and made sure there was some left to take home. Go figure. Turns out we missed out on one of Woodstack's best known sides: homemade onion rings. Who knew? Sauces? Yes, three of them: a thin pepper and vinegar, a mustard based sauce and the traditional very slightly spiced tomato sauce - by far the best and worth buying. And while a lot joints now give you half ounce cups of sauce (or make yu stand in line to choose from too many (City Cue are you listening?) Woodstack puts freshly filled bottles on the table. What a novel idea - sample without holding uo a line- letting the customer decide which sauce and how much? A negative? There was one. No colorful tee shirt to add to the collection of more than 200. The dining area is spotlessly clean as are the rest room; the foods is really good and almost all homemade (they use post oak as is the wood of choice throughout Texas) and the hospitality, led by the smiling ball of energy that is Lisa, is outstanding. Five stars to Valdosta's Woodstack. We'll be back next trip south.

So stopped in here as we were looking for a dog friendly restaurant after a vet visit in the area…read more Super glad we did. The staff was exceptional, with even the one of the owners checking on us. My wife and I love good BBQ and had some of the best around the country. The ribs had a nice bite through while still being tender and juicy. The sliced brisket was moist and had a really nice smoke ring on it. They had three barbecue sauces on the table all mad in house 1) original a sweet and smoky bbq, 2) a mustard based sauce, and a pepper vinegar sauce all of which were very good. Now the sides were some of the best I have had in a long time. 1) roasted brussel sprouts in a maple glaze, 2) braised cabbage with bacon, 3) braised collards, and 4) Cajun fries. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. We will definitely be back on our next trip through.
