Placed an order for two of their one pound rib tips special and they were the worse rib tips we have ever had. The tips were burned and extremely dry. Seemed like they were cooked more than once. We kept spitting each piece out of our mouths because the next piece was worse than the prior one. Called Sam's to complain and was told I needed to call DoorDash. For a short while they were our go-to in Edgewater Beach for ribs and chicken. Tonight, our double order (16 pieces) of mix broasted chicken arrived burned to a crisp, hard enough you could use them as doorstops, and completely inedible. It was an Uber eats order but we tried to call the store, which is three blocks away, to have them correct what they sent us. They never, ever would answer their phone. This is the first time I have given a review for this place but I must after my experience today, October 2, 2024 at 3:28pm. The first complaint is that the person that was frying the chicken I saw without a glove on the hand he was putting the chicken in to the grease with. I mentioned it to the cashier/server (Naran) according to my receipt. He denied it and pointed out that the guy had on a glove. I let it go. The second complaint is that I drove at least 45-minutes to 1 hour one way, paid to park and waited 20 minutes. This would have been okay had it been worth my time. After all of this I got home and there are barely any fries underneath the wings. So, I called back after arriving home to share my experience. The person on the phone stated " The fries are complimentary". I said,"What!?" I continued to say that it's not what your menu says. I asked, "Are you saying I paid $15.00 dollars for six wings"!? He continued with the ridiculous justification for cheating me out of french fries. I did say to him this is (false) advertisement as the menu never mentions fries being "complimentary". I think this is justification for the behavior. I told him, I would not be coming back. He did not seem to care. Finally, it's sad because I really do like the food. Two stars because maybe some food tastes better than it looks or smells. Giving them the benefit of the doubt. Recently saw someone's fries and they were beyond greasy. The bag was actually dripping with oil. That's just bad food prep. Someone doesn't know or doesn't care when they should take things out of the fryer. Was going to eat here last year but walked in to the overwhelming smell of rancid oil. Since the guys at the counter preferred to continue their conversation instead of taking my order, I had time to reconsider and leave. Great place for any type of food you would want. They have burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings and seafood. They even have a limited variety of Indian food. The mutton curry is my favorite. Food is freshly made. Fries standard cut with a moderate of salt & are delicious. The place was surprisingly packed after 10pm so you there's a chance it's a hidden gem. It is kind of dive looking though. With your standard hood restaurant decor minus the bullet proof glass. They got my order out in less than 15 minutes. Philly steak has the works. There's peppers, mushrooms, steak & provolone cheese. It has a black pepper flavor to it & the crunchiness of the seasoning creates an interesting texture. On its' own merit it qualifies as a higher-tier cheesesteak, but it's the seasoning is a bit underwhelming so it doesn't put it over the edge. Price wise everything is surprisingly standard. With the neighborhood it's in I thought it would easily be $12-14, but the total for the entire combo came out just under $10. They also have a huge selection of drinks, specifically sodas. I live down the street and decided to pick up for once instead of doing Uber eats.... I sat in the chair and next thing you know I have a bleach stain from the back of the chair. I called to let them know their chairs aren't being whipped down all the way and my $400 coat is ruined. The man tells me THEY DONT CLEAN THEIR CHAIRS EVER AND IT WASNT THEM! Great food but if you're not paying with cash, make sure you write in the total amount cause one of their employees won't hesitate to make a small, one dollar extra charge, thinking you won't notice. I ordered samosas from them through Uber eats. I called and spoke to the manager, he said he knew that only 1 one of the samosa is burnt. But infact 2 of them were. First time trying Sams Rib tips! Ordered a pound of the tips that came with fries and two slices of white bread as well as a cheeseburger well done. The cheeseburger was good! Nothing too different but had good flavor. The rib tips had a good amount of BBQ with them as well as a good cook. Crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. My favorite was definitely the sauce. Not too thick not too runny with just the right amount of spicy. The only reason it got a four was the fries. They were good but way to soggy for my liking. The prices were fair and delivery was prompt and in time. First time experience and will most likely order again. read more

Our experience last night, 06.04.2020, at Sam's Chicken & Ribs in Edgewater on Granville... This was our FIRST meal ordered out since the COVID hit back in March. My wife and I were looking forward to trying their food, especially since they are located right across the street. We placed our order at 930p over the phone. They were open until 11p. I was told the order would be ready in 10 minutes. Our order considered of a jumbo cheeseburger with fries, and 1lb rib tip dinner with fries. My wife stated the cheeseburger was really good. I on the other hand was disappointed with the rib tips. Out of the pound of rib tips, there was ONLY two pieces that were tender and good. The remaining pieces of meat were dry and hard as the bones in the pieces. I don't know if they microwaved the meat and just poured sauce on them or what??!! Even the fries were cold! In regards to the french fries, I noticed while the clerk was ringing up our order, they already had quite a few fries already cooked, but they weren't cooking any orders. As a matter of fact, when I arrived, the two people were filling up the beverage coolers. No other customers inside the store. The bulk of my food went right into the garbage!! Complete WASTE of money for my dinner!! This was the WORST rib tip dinner I've ever had!! What a disappointed from a BBQ place!! Maybe I should have ordered a cheeseburger or hotdog??!! IF we decide to try them again, I definitely will NOT order the rib tips, possibility nothing BBQ. I do NOT recommend anyone trying the rib tips!! To be honest from the reviews I expected a lot more from this place than I got. I think I ended up paying 20 dollars for myself and did not get the quality of food I could have gotten for that price. Paying 20 dollars could have gotten me a decent meal at a nice restaurant but what I got was frozen onion rings and rubbery chicken wings. The onion rings I got were all the same size. I am no scientist but I am pretty sure an onion is a sphere so all the pieces should be different sizes. I could see past the counter the fries were also frozen and they threw them in the fryer. If I wanted frozen food I could have stayed home and made it myself. My brother ordered a chicken sandwich. For the price probably could have gotten better at McDonalds. Also, besides the food, the tables and chairs were all fold out tables that looked like they would fall apart if I breathed too hard. The TLDR: You are better off going to mcdonalds. Drunk food open late (4am everyday) near where I live now... extremely dangerous for my health. If you're coming off the Granville el stop at 3am and starving and too tired to find food, Sam's is literally staring at you in the face waiting to rescue you... with fried chicken wings. The menu covers most late night greasy drunk food, and if the Loyola student clientele I've seen in here is any indication... it's pretty reliable drunk food. Cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, tacos, indian food... If I go now, I opt for the 4 fried chicken wings, which are small whole wings that come with fries and bread and hot sauce. They have buffalo wings (which is what I thought these were) too these chicken wings are my go to order here now (but jeeze, the fact that I even repeatedly come here...) I've tried the Indian side of the menu as well, and I'll say that its definitely a harder kind of late night food to do well. Dry reheated tandoori chicken is typical. I had the lamb biryani for a late dinner, and it was quite the bountiful portion!! The rice and lamb chunks were quite tender and delicious, and at a great price too. You can make this into two meals if you do not eat very much. Sam is located right by the Granville stop on the Red Line, if you sit in the right position you can watch the trains arriving and departing.
