We stopped in to get the kids some ice cream from their cafe so can't comment on the FULL store but the cafe experience was great. First off, ordering on the app and not having to wait in line was nice. (Though there wasn't much of a line at 7pm). Prices are amazing! Cheaper than Costco's cafe. Plain cup is $1. Brownie sundaes are only $1.58! Kids LOVED the treats. A bit big for the younger kids but at $1.58, throwing a bit out was ok. Guy helping us was ok. Definitely will come back! read more

I give it a solid 4.5 stars. Sam's truly has a lot going for them. I feel like the ease and efficiency to get in and out is something that Costco should take note on. Now they do lose half a star because I did do drive up one time and I literally waited for 30 minutes for stuff to be brought. Honestly It looked like one person running it but not sure if that's the norm or a one off. I think the book selection is so much better here! I'm not a fan of warehouse stores. Not only are shoppers cajoled into buying stuff that they would never have otherwise thought about -- such as a 5 lb. bag of toffee or a case of marinated mushrooms -- these places all have the same weird smell of tires and plastic. And the parking lots are always mass pandemonium. That said, I came here with my elderly father so that he could buy a case of diced tomatoes (as if he couldn't buy 10 cans of tomatoes at the supermarket), and I was impressed at the cleanliness and organization. The store was very well stocked, and the employees also seemed friendly and very busy. If I never enter a warehouse store again, it won't be soon enough. But if I need an 8 lb. can of tuna, this place would be my destination for sure. read more

So tired of the lack of open checkout lanes. Self checkout registers on pharmacy side are always closed. Usually only 3 or 4 main checkout lanes open with 6 or 8 people in line at each lane. 20 or more other lanes and registers are closed. Plenty of Walmart employees walking around doing nothing. Customer service here is terrible. The bigger problem is that this is becoming common at Target and many similar stores as well. How about thinking about your customers and help us compete our shopping experience without having to wait in line. Watch the amount of people waiting to checkout and open more lanes so customers don't have to wait in line. read more

I don't know why, but the thought of warehouse shopping makes me giddy lol. I came here with my mom and sister in preparation for Thanksgiving, and when it comes preparing for a big dinner or an event, they've got you covered. I absolutely did not feel like we spent over an hour here... but we did. There are free samples (of course) which just makes you want to buy things you didn't even plan on getting, and can I just tell you, I recommend their pies. If you need a pie for the holidays, and you don't want to make it yourself, the pies we got were pretty tasty, and not overly expensive. I particularly liked the pecan pie. I was excited about trying the pumpkin, but it was gone before I got the chance... so it was probably good. I did take off a star because they didn't have much as far as Christmas decorations go. They had a couple aisles of gift ideas, but I wanted decor. Anywho, I'm looking forward to my next trip. Yes, seriously! read more

As a long-time member of Sam's Club, I was deeply shocked and disturbed by the utter disrespect and unprofessionalism I received over this past weekend. I have a family of 5 and have always had two dollies worth of groceries. As I went into the checkout lane, I was treated with the utmost disrespect and unprofessional by the two checkout ladies. I was literally told that it was my job to unload the dollies, scan the items, and put the items back on the dollies. I responded that I pay for a membership, and with that membership, I should receive some customer service and customer satisfaction. Boy, oh boy, these two ladies got extremely rude and sarcastic. As a matter of fact, they were literally slamming my groceries onto the checkout lane and just piling them up. They acted as though I was bothering them to do their jobs. As I was finally being checked out, I caught them charging me several times for multiple items that I did not have, and had to bring it to their attention. They were extremely disgusted that I caught them cheating and overcharging the customer. That is beyond disgraceful. Bottomline, if I have to check myself out with $1,800 worth of groceries, then why am I paying for a membership? I most certainly spoke to the manager regarding this issue, but Sam's Club should take a good look at their policies and whom they are hiring. Members are what keeps Sam's Club in business. Webster Sam's Club is starting to get stingy on their Berry Sundaes. They're trying to say this is 16oz... look and my hand compared to that cup. That's also a pack of 300 plates, and you can see the sundae is about a 1/3 of the stack. That serving is a joke. The cup FULL is 16oz. The moron at the gas pumps. Some lady broke down at the pumps. It happens, nobody was upset even though it was packed. The attendant for whatever reason lets her stay at the pump. My glasses broke in an accident and we just went to the optical department trying to get my glasses fixed luckily they are under warranty however due to the optical prescription being expired and with Covid-19 still very active we are very reluctant to go get this done. Scan and Go was a great feature till the Friendswood club started holding up the process and started touching all my items and food again. . Now every time we try to leave the store the door checker scans the receipt and EVERY ITEM in the cart. This causes long lines to exit the store, where I'm having to be in proximity of other people. And then all of my purchase get touched in the process. I get scanning the receipt and one item, but every item in the cart is a bit much. read more

This was a MAD DASH event! We thought Sam's closed at 9pm but when I checked Yelp, it said, "closing in 13 minutes!" Holy cow! There were 3 of us and we had a list a mile long with items needed for our 4th of July river trip to the Comal. We raced around like "bats outta hell" to fill 3 carts full of food and booze for 6 adults and 3 teen boys who eat like raccoons! Unbelievably, we finished within 20 minutes! "We are professionals, do not try this at home..." As we were walking out the door, the elderly "checker" looked over our receipt and said, "you have 103 items here..." And then started counting the items in our "buggy" (yes, I said "buggy," I'm from the South, peeps) I'm still not sure if he was joking or serious. We had so much fun on this little adventure- I think we should try out for that tv show where you run up and down the aisles of the grocery store and have to fill your "buggy" within so many minutes! read more

Overall impression: SAMs club is just a great example of how to run a terribly inefficient store. 180 contrast compared to costco. And the products aren't that great either. Positives: -$30 headlight restoration -$1.29 slurpee -cheap gas -that might be about it Negatives: -everything is inefficient and slow -they have worse products than Costco and some of them are more expensive -generally bad customer service -the membership services are a joke and they try to scam you SAMs club could be so much better. But instead, they run things terribly and when compared to Costco, it just makes the store look even worse. There is a line for everything and they are always really slow. That's likely because they always have too few people working at any given job. At membership services, they try to scam you into buying the upper tier membership, which is $100 compared to $45/year. All you get is this stupid coupon book that Costco provides for free for all their customers. When my wife tried to get membership, they almost immediately signed her up for the $100 one and didn't tell her about the regular membership until she asked for it. This location is about the same as any other. I gave it one more star because there was a guy at the auto section who was really nice and helpful. But he's an exception. This place competes on price; boy does it compete on price. All the food is big packages here; 2 lbs of cashews, 2 lbs of colby jack cheese, 6 lbs of chicken breasts; 2 lbs of lunchmeat. Etc. But I've got 4 kids and a chest freezer, so I'm here every Saturday. Most of what I get here is 10-30% below the price at the local chain groceries. Quality is pretty high. Sam's also has a lot of higher-ticket items: Big screen TVs, refrigerators, tires; I haven't bought much of these, but again, they compete on price. Signage and lighting are adequate; it's a warehouse store but it's kept clean. There's always somebody to help you find something back in the meat / cheese / wine area and up in pharmacy; harder to find help in the rest of the store. Lines can be a bit slow, esp on Saturdays. Today we tried to renew our membership but we had to get everything done new since we were expired over 2 years ago. The customer service women were very friendly not only with the renewal process but also in pointing out the sales that ending today. We are having a dessert get together pre-Thanksgiving so this is the place to shop. 4 pies that are 3 pounds each, a big box of colorful macaroons, 4 tubs of cream topping, and all for under $80. I happen to be one of those people who have both memberships (at the moment). I moved from the Heights to Clear Lake a few months ago. It was in my interest to get the Sams Club membership for the gas discount alone. I HATED...let me state that again...HATED...HATED...the parking lot at the Richmond Costco, there were times I had murder on my brain...MURDER...and I find myself to be a fairly reasonable calm fun loving person. Costco made me a horrible person :( Sure their Kirkland brands kick Sams Club brands in a heartbeat. But by and large, Sams is cheaper all around. Membership costs, tires, brand stuff (Tide, Coke, etc.). That's the whole reason you purchase one of these memberships, is to save money people. Not to just tell others, you shop at a certain store, just because...makes no sense to me. The staff is friendly, there is never a crowd, even on weekends...and I don't want to MURDER anyone, ever...its awesome!!! Like their counterpart across the street, Walmart, this location could use a few more cashiers on the floor but it's no where as long as the lines I waited in that went for miles at the Costco. This particular Sams has an Optical center. The lady was really friendly and setup my vision insurance allowance in a way that I only had to pay $25 for an entire year's worth of contacts. Costco doesn't carry my brand of contacts and the tech there had no idea if they accept insurance plans or not (at least at the time I asked). There are a couple of things that are better at Costco than at Sams (meats, greek yogurt and dog food brand) but the savings through Sams far outweighs the murderous rage I feel when taking an outing to Costco on a weekend. This Sams is not busy, the cashier's are friendly and helpful, and the prices can't be beat. You folks who give Sams a bad rap, you can keep your ulcer inducing Costco, I'll stick with Sams. read more

I gave up my Sam's membership years ago, when Costco opened up in my neighborhood. However, for some reason my company has still latched on to their Sam's card and I decided to go for a look. The main reason I switched to Costco years ago was that Costco's products are generally superior to those of Sam's club - but more importantly I frequently used to get home after a shopping trip at Sam's only to find that the food products had expired. Once again I decided to give Sam's a try and bought some pecan crusted Salmon that looked really good. I should have known better Sam's quality of foods is always of an inferior quality - the salmon is dry and is tasteless. Now while I understand that Sam's does not actually make the product they still carry it - I have never had to throw anything away that I bought from the frozen section of Costo - or in any section for that matter. At the end of the day Costco just has a better quality control than Sam's. read more

We get a huge container of mixed field greens & baby spinach for just about the same price as a bag at the grocery store. It's organic too. I try not to go to this location as it is further from my home and prefer the one that is north of the beltway. I did like the mix of patrons that frequent this location and did not feel out of place. The selection was average and the prices were the same. I do save money on formula, wipes, organic spinach and some meats here. My savings in formula pays for the price of membership. The sams brand diapers are not good at all. Some of the produce is the same or more expensive than grocery stores. Saturday is busy and you will wait in line. I also had to wait for Butcher to package more meat. They had a health event to get free blood pressure, body fat, etc. I purposely went on Saturday for this. But when I went they said that they were done because they only have a certain number they can do. I was not happy because I would not go on a Saturday if not for this. Not impressed. read more

So, this is Sam's Club. I'm not impressed! I already miss Costco! Sam's Club is a membership warehouse store in the same vein as Costco but definitely lacking as far as the Costco experience goes. They do have a big warehouse, it's organized much the same way (everything still on pallets for you to grab and buy), they have samples to taste around the store (only not as many as Costco puts out), but it's still not the same. Yes, you can get your tires there, your eyes worked on, buy big screen TV's and whatnot, but Sam's Club seems to be less than Costco all of the way around. And by that I mean, they just don't measure up to what Costco offers. Less people shopping there means less stuff to buy overall so it's not the same experience. I didn't realize that I would actually miss the carts clashing together that you get at Costco, or the mobs of people around the tiny sample booths at the intersection of every aisle. But, I do. The crowds at Costco made it the experience that it was. You had to get up front to see what everyone else was getting because, let's face it; you might miss something! Not here at Sam's. No crowds, no carts clashing, hardly any samples and no waiting to get them. Okay but what about the shopping? They have lots of stuff to buy at discounted prices and the memberships are not expensive so it's a good deal. But, I expected to walk in there yesterday and see Halloween all over the place. Heck, I know Costco has had Halloween out since July and they have now put out Christmas. Well, I could hardly find the Halloween fare at this Sam's club, It was not featured prominently up front as it should be at this time of year. It was way in back and then; not much of it. A few costumes, some door wreaths, lights and candy bowls pretty much made up the offerings. Lame. I did purchase some vitamins, baby sleepers (they have clothes here too like at Costco, but not much to choose from), and some white wine but not much else. I also heard that Costco might be building a new store in the area. That would be good. I never thought I'd say it, but I miss the crazy Costco crowd, the hellish parking lot situation and the good, cheap eats. It just doesn't seem like warehouse shopping without it. This locations has the worst customer service and lazy workers especially those that work as an attendant in the fuel department. Didn't know Sam's club pay you to sit your butt in the little booth of yours and stare out the window. Like why are you even there? Pointless to even get gas and can't get help and get scolded because you have a virtual card on your phone. As I recall Sam's policy never said I can't use my virtual card but apparently the workers there are lazy to walk to the pump and wants to argue with you on why you you need a card. Well duh if no one was working there obviously I can't get gas but if someone is at the booth I figured I can use my virtual card but that's not the case at this locations. Please hire better people or better yet what is the point of having people at that booth. Definitely will be cancelling my membership and taking my business to Costco. I Shopped at your Friendswood Sam's today, I must say with your new floor set, remodel and selection of merchandise, you are close to hurting the new nearby Costco. For the past five years my Restaurant (Chasin' Tails Sports bar and Cajun cuisine) have been spending at least 50k per year. You're employees are obviously being well managed and rewarded to offer great member service and your buyers are really stepping outside the box to find the "diamond in the rough, treasure hunt items". There are still many opportunities that are not being taken advantage of to catch up to the Costco success, but I must say you are on your way! I must admit that I was an employee of Costco for 34 years (started at age 16), advancing my career to opening many stores, as the General Manager. I actually fought and won the battle to be the first Costco to sell diesel fuel at the Gypsum, Colorado location. Due to the success of diesel, Costco now carries it in hundreds of locations. My last venture with the Company was to open the Sugar Land location, which I was able to show 1.5 million on the BL versus a budget in the red. As an innovator of many of the Costco merchandising secrets and ideas, I would volunteer and consult with your executives to help Sam's become the chased by Costco.
