First, I am not a Sam's Club shopper. And I dislike everything about the parent company -- Walmart. Never shop there! However, Sam's Club vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and a yellow cake were served today for my granddaughter's first birthday party. They were delicious! They were moist, perfectly dense, and had a natural tasting vanilla flavor. In addition, the yellow cake sliced nicely into perfectly intact pieces ready to plate. My daughter added the inexpensive Minnie Mouse decorations to the cake and cupcakes to complement the party theme. In the past, they have ordered custom flavor cakes for birthdays from one of three boutique bakeries in the area for approximately $100. a cake. Sometimes not everyone likes the unique cakes, especially the children. My daughter heard from a neighbor about the quality of Sam's Club vanilla, cholate, and marble cupcakes and cakes and decided to give it a try. What a substantial savings; a 10" custom double layer cake is about $17.28. Cupcakes are about $14.48 for a dozen vanilla and/or chocolate cupcakes. A full sheet cake is about $40.98! 1. BEWARE: If you shop at Sam's Club, it's best to go into the store yourself, and pick out your items - than to order curbside pickup. One of the items in my recent orders was a package of Filet Mignon Steaks from the butcher. The cost was $55. I got 3 good steaks and one nasty one, that is mostly just fat and grizzle. To the Butcher: Have some self respect in the work that you produce. I get that it's just a paycheck for you - but remember that you are taking other people's pay checks, in return for your work. DO BETTER. To the In Store Shopper: Shop as if it was your own order. STOP putting the less fresh, and ugly cuts of meats in the orders that come in online (However, if the Butcher took a little pride is his work, you wouldn't have to worry about this). I actually tipped you for this !!!! I don't have time to return this item. I have 4 people 4 dinner, and so I will give myself the nasty ugly streak that nobody can eat. I have always loved Sam's but the last few times i have been there to shop they have had only one person checking out! It's absolutely ridiculous forcing their customers to self check or wait in a line of 10 or more customers waiting to be checked out. It's obvious by looking at the one and only check out line that people want someone to check them out! For a company to not try and accommodate their customers and save money at the customer expense is not acceptable. It also takes jobs away from our citizens. It's just wrong. I don't recommend Sam's at all based on the hassle of checking out. read more

Awful experience, probably will not return. I was singled out amongst many other customers, some with and some without bags. I kindly gave the lady my receipt. I only had two cloth bags, one with two packages of food, the other with pants. This lady stopped me, looked at my receipt, wanted to look through my bags and actually had an employee come over. I grabbed my groceries and left. Did I steal anything?? ABSOLUTEY NOT!! There is nothing worth losing my freedom for. I was professionally dressed and had just came from work. A range of emotions went through me and ultimately I made the choice to just leave. I have been shopping at this location for over 10+ years. To discontinue shopping at this convenient location may not be the wisest idea but because that was such an awful experience I won't ever be in a rush to return there. read more

I am a former worker at Sam's club latham NY. I was a food service worker in the cafe as well as the rotisserie chicken dept. Let me start by saying don't ever buy food in the cafe. Pizza is the main food in the cafe and the pizza has cock roachs all over them in the coolers. The hot dog cookers are never cleaned from the day before and are reused on a regular basis. Food poisoning or botchilism are sure to be a risk for your health. And don't get me started on rotisserie. Let's just say the conditions of the back area where the chickens are prepped would be shut down permanently by the health dept. Just want to give a heads up to all. Be concerned. read more

I just came back from a cross country trip in a motorhome we stopped at Sams club from coast to coast. Latham Sams club is by far the worst Sams Club I have been too. Stood in line for a slice of pizza for about 15 minutes with 1 person ahead of me. Received my greasy pepperoni pizza ( other slices were strewn about the trays) to find out they were out of napkins. I was given balled up tissue from the back. No one bothered to put more napkins out. Check out line out the door was very long with only one employee checking the receipts. I absolutely love shopping at Sam's. The only thing I don't like is that now you have to literally walk into an ice box to get your milk and veggies. As of customer service they're amazing. Elise is in cafe is one of my favorite people there. She's extremely funny and respectful. Sabrina, Nicole and Ian in the front end are also amazing supervisors. Move quick and efficient. I come here at least once a year with a friend when we buy lots of groceries for our long weekend "man trip" to a cabin on the lake. The prices are good... not great, but good. Like all places where you must buy in large quantities, it really comes down to whether you want to pay $3 for a small bottle of mustard at Price Chopper or $8 for a gallon of mustard here. Usually it makes financial sense to shop in these stores only if you know you can use the large amounts of food without them going to waste. What I don't like about the stores is how things are arranged. Take frozen hamburgers, for example. They are sometimes in three different coolers at the same time. Or sausage... is it in the meat section, the breakfast section, or in the novelty section? For most frozen items I find the need to walk through every aisle and search every shelf. And before you ask... yes, I only come here once a year but my friend shops here regularly and still cannot explain their system. You can ask a worker for help but they likely won't know either. We don't usually have a problem at checkout. Yup, it might take you 10 minutes but you are saving money so what's the big deal. Don't be crazy and come here on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Customer service is HORRIBLE!!! After being demanded by Paul for my DL because he does not know how to look up customer info, he went on to accuse us of swapping the tires. We were then told by Paul that they did not have any in stock but when I called in, they told me that they had 5 in stock. Diego (the supervisor) came in and assisted us by waving the cost of the installation which is $15. Keep in mind that we paid over $400 for 4 tires that did not exceed 5K miles and still we walked out paying $200 for new tires. Once I got home, I decided to call BFGOODrich to find out more about the warranty they offered. I was informed that if the store was doing their job when we brought the car in to get the tires rotated, they should have also inspected the tires to make sure the tires were in good condition. After the phone call to BFGOODrich, I called the store to speak to Diego on Monday Nov 19th and was told he was not in and to call the next day. So I called on Tuesday and explained to Jessica (another supervisor) the situation and she told me that she did not want to get in the middle of the situation and that she will have a conversation with Diego and follow up with me. But I was suppose to talk to Diego on Tuesday but apparently he was not available once again! The following day, I had not heard from Jessica so I decided to call to speak to her and she told me that he should be in about an hour and she would talk to him. After a week of not receiving any calls from Jessica or Diego, I decided to place a call to her. Jessica told me that she will get things resolved if I can come to the store and bring the receipt. We got to the store and was told by the rep from the tire and batteries dept that Diego is no longer working there. Jessica was on lunch at the time and we were also told by the rep that she won't be in the department for long since she has had lots of complaints from customers and will be transferring to a new department within 2 weeks. After Jessica talked to her manager Chris, we were told that the best they can do is give us a $20 credit. We refuse to accept that and walked out. Again, keep in mind that we have only used less than 5k miles on the tires that has warranty for 60K. All and all, nothing was done to resolve the issue! Very poor customer service and I would not recommend anyone to use their services. read more

Have definitely frequented this location more now that we have little ones, but there are definitely pros and cons. Pros: - Good pricing on: pool supplies, some beverages, some meat & produce, lawn & leaf bags (LOL), generic baby formula and diapers when there are instant savings - Convenient Latham location - Membership pricing is reasonable if you use it enough - Store is clean - Maria in the jewelry dept./customer service is awesome - Cheap fountain diet coke :) Cons: - Extremely long lines esp. on weekends - Customer service is pretty non existent - Can't use manufacturer coupons - Tire/Auto center customer service is AWFUL Bottom line: there are some deals to be had if you want to go stock up on some items every few months, but these trips usually cost a couple hundred bucks. Many items are cheaper at your local grocery store if you scan sale ads and stock up on coupons. read more

May have bought a box of Hershey's cookies n cream bars a few times... *shameful* - Would like to mention here that they do not take most credit cards. They do take debit cards that can be run as credit though. I use my bank card all the time. - If you have never tried their berry sundae GO get it! I literally go there sometimes just for this! Yum! - They also have a new self checkout area that really helps speed things up. Some of my favorite items I have ought: - salsa - pita chips - coffee maker - tupperware - blender - clothes (yes I find cute/comfy things there for cheap!) - great seasonings (roasted herb garlic, Asian, etc... I call to order a cold cut platter (didn't do online as wanted white vs yellow cheese) no one picks up in deli opt to customer service, a misnomer for sure, who put me on hold then drops my call. Repeat procedure FINALLY get through to deli no customization ok at least a straight answer. Do yourself a favor & order from Market Bistro in Latham. IF you can find what you are looking for & want ginormous amounts of it this is the place. Anything fresh is typically gross & moldy such as fruit & vegetables. The supervisory/mgmt staff is busy on their phones or socializing w @ other while the poor cashiers are swamped-definitely a tactic to download the scan & go app (PS does not work w beer/wine) read more

The day is coming that COSTCO will be here and we will be gone. Sam's has started asking to renew your membership 6 MONTHS ahead(mine is up in MAY). This ploy was done by BJ's and that's how I ended up in their class action lawsuit. Customer service desk always swamped need 2x number of people working there. Question # 1. Why is the Latham, NY store no longer open at 7am. The 7am business member privilege was included in membership fee. How about a rebate. Most business members are at work by 9am and have probably made their purchases at the many local supermarkets that are open at 7am or even 24hrs. Question # 2. Chicken salad in refrigerated cases expired February 2020, my calendar says today is March 6, 2020. Question # 3. 8 pack of cupcakes and strawberry shortcake were both expired. This was in the desert cases at the bakery department. Question # 4. No manager available to voice concerns to. Question # 5. Very convenient to home. I have to agree with Susan and others ... the customer service is, well, there isn't much. Employees walk by you with no greeting or eye contact. Went there a couple of days ago and asked one of the managers for assistance on a self checkout register and she went to a couple of other registers first and never got to us. We figured it out ourselves, which I mentioned to her as we walked to the exit, and she seemed frazzled. I must say that the woman who usually hovers around the self checkout registers is wonderful ... smiles, asks how we are doing, and is tremendously helpful. Prices are very good, which is why we come back once or twice every week. Usually grab bananas, some other fruit, eggs, some toiletries, flavored coffee creamer, Hershey bars, paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels, nuts, lawn bags, and chips. Its great to go here and stock up every 3 or 4 months. I have never been to Costco's or Bj's which are two other whole sale clubs so I can not compare them to Sam's. I have never sat down and compared the prices to the grocery store for things like toilet paper or paper towels. I just like the fact of buying it in bulk throwing it the garage and not worrying about it for a while. I buy a lot including garbage bags, deodorant, household cleaners, body wash, medicine and more. They have food items in bulk which I am sure large family's with big freezers at their homes like to buy that I have no use for. I see a good amount of business owners getting quite a bit of stuff here as well. read more

Got tires on a Monday. $1000. Called us because they couldn't get all the lug nuts off. Went in and my husband asked did they try the manual way? Nope. He had to ask them to try, they found the tool then gave it to my husband to loosen himself after they lowered the car. Since it has been done my car is been shaking uncontrollably. Brought my car back that same week on a Friday night, I was told to come back at eight in the morning. Went back at eight in the morning was told to come back at 11. Came back at 11, the grey haired man did not care that I've come back a total of three times now to have them do the job that was supposed to be originally done. he took the keys, I asked when it would be done and he said he had no idea. $1000 and treated like I'm garbage. Merchandise is good, service sucks. I'd give it five stars, but the customer service is really bad sometimes. The return line is a nightmare - slow, and generally rude. In general, the staff is only interested in talking amongst themselves and not engaging customers, or trying to push the Plus Membership or the Sam's Credit Card. The younger the person is, the worse they seem to be about this. As for the actual products, I love this place. I shop here weekly for pantry staples, fresh produce, and meat. I calculated that last year I saved over $1,000 on groceries by shopping here, so it's well worth the membership fee (I pay $100 for the plus membership). The produce usually lasts longer than comporable items at other stores. There isn't as much variety as you would get else where, but the prices are good and they're incorporating more organic/health options if you're into that lifestyle. I've bought a few clothing items from here too that hold up well. They also have a nice selection of household goods such as appliances, furniture, cleaners, etc, that are usually a good price for the quality. Of note, we bought a 5.1 surround sound system from here for the best price we've ever seen. We've had it for two years with no issues. read more

I placed an online pickup order at Sams Club in Latham. The person who waited on me was very nice and even checked to see if the store had a special item I wanted in stock. When I got home, I saw that one item that cost over $10 was not included but was on my receipt. I called the store and they checked and found the item but would not refund my money unless I went back in person. I explained I live 40 min away, am over 65, and do not want to go back to see customer service during this pandemic. They told me I could not get a refund or even a credit on my account unless I did that. read more

Huge check out lines are horrible, but I shopped there yesterday guess what? Now you can SCAN and GO. You can download an app and scan your items as you shop and pay from SCAN and GO app. It was super easy and convenient. After you are done shopping, just walk to exit and show door men your phone screen. Prices are great, but without scan and go it is terrible. Weekends are crazy crowded and no place to step. I love SCAN and GO. Without scan and go I would give 2 stars. read more

Being a senior citizen; I am not shopping for myself during this pandemic. I order from BJ and they deliver for a fee. Yesterday I went on line to the Sam's Club website and ordered some groceries. I choose a pick up time Friday April 23rd between 3 and 4:00. I arrived around 3:15 with my confirmation number and told the clerk I was here to pick up my order. se asked me for my last name which I gave her she looked in a book and asked me to once again spell my name. she then asked for the confirmation number which I gave her. She told me I have no record of your order, sometimes this happens. Since I was in the store she invited me to go ahead and shop. If I wanted to take the risk and mingle with people, I would have in the first place. I left without groceries very disappointed. read more

Huge selection of toilet paper and paper towels why not any Dog food!! The selection is limited but they have better dog treats than dog food. I will give them that their food cafe is nice and clean and food comes out pretty fast. The membership can come in handy but most of the pricing especially for fruit, veggies, pizza is exactly the same or even more than your average grocery stores. You save money when it comes to bulk Yogurt, razors, cereal, water, bottled drinks, meat, deli, chips.. To name a few. Latham is about ten miles from us near Union college so I know I won't be frequently visiting just because Hannaford and the commissary is not too too far. read more

This location has no business being in the tire business. I have never dealt with a less caring service group. I have tried multiple times to give them another chance so I guess I should have learned earlier. They offer lifetime tire rotations as part of the install but it is impossible to get them to follow through. At least 6 times I have tried to have this done and they always say it will be a minimum of a 3 hour wait to do this service. As I watch all the technicians standing around during the 1/2 hour it takes for somebody to come to the register to talk to me and tell me they are not going to be able to do it again, I wonder why I keep trying. If a manager had the people that were standing around actually working, maybe they would be able to deliver an acceptable level of service. I do not think that will ever be the case at this location. The sad part it that I love SAMs club and these terrible experiences are causing me to seriously dislike this company. Very, very frustrated. They are going to end up losing business from me because it ruins my feeling for the company. read more
