Friendly staff greeted me when I got there and helped me choose the tires I wanted. I had made an appointment previously so I got right in upon arrival. The time estimate for the work was perfect and the DirecTV in the waiting area helped keep me occupied. Great work, good experience. Prices are on the high side but that is to be expected for the corporate nature of the repair facility. I travel a lot and like to know that when I go to another city, on the other side of the nation, there is going to be a repair shop under the same name that I can go to if I have an issue with the repair. So, I often use the larger corporate owned facilities for that reason. Go elsewhere, these folks will scam you. I was charged over $100 for a check engine light diagnostic fee. They said the code was an O2 sensor but that the O2 sensor was fine and then they cleared the code. 20 minutes later the check engine light is back on. I get to a dealership a few days later and they say your sensor is definitely bad and they replace it. Over $100 at Firestone for them to say nothing is wrong when something was wrong! read more

Unfortunately, our last three visits here were less than stellar. In June I posted a review on Facebook in the group the 411 on 518. Several front office employees did not wear masks and argued with customers who asked them to wear masks Evidently, the corporation provides disposable masks, posted distance markers on the floor, and posted several notices of company policies in accordance with state rules (masks, social distancing etc ). Today my husband dropped his car in the morning, and asked the front desk employee where his mask was. The answer was "we have them somewhere" This afternoon I joined my husband to pick up.his car. All three employees in the front office were working without masks. I loudly announced that this was my third strike with them, and I was reporting them to the state. Supernaturally horrible. You will be amazed. Based on multiple visits with 3 different vehicles: Incredibly dishonest. Will say anything to get you in. Even employee on the down low confided service coupons are frauds. Incompetent repairs. AC failed. Brakes failed. Charged for testing the AC compressor which had been removed from the vehicle years prior to visiting Firestone. Non-responsive corporate management. Apparently the only objective of Firestone customer service to to close the ticket if you have called to ask for help. Extremely poor customer service. Went in today for scheduled 10:00 appt. I was told that I would have to leave it or wait several hours since their were 4 cars ahead of me already. My front right car tire needed to be fixed after a flat tire. Since Firestone was so close to me, I decided going there. After waiting three hours, I finally got my car back and was told that the car warning light would be fixed after 20 minutes of driving. That was not the case. After 20 minutes of driving the "low tire pressure" light switched to an alarming "Immediately get your car serviced" light. I called Firestone the next day and explained what happened. They said they would schedule me in for an appointment and it would be fixed right away. Silly me, thinking they would own up to their word. After waiting an hour for my "scheduled appointment," I looked out the window to see my car still not serviced. I'm upset with their service for two reasons: 1. Not having the issue fixed when it was supposed to be fixed 2. Keeping me waiting for an hour when I was supposed to have an appointment. Went to Latham FireStone in Albany NY for NY State Inspection on 29th Oct at 5:15 pm and they said it takes approx 45 mins to 1 hr. Waited till 6:30 pm when I went and asked about the status they told me they are working on it and if you want me to backup the vehicle they can do it. I never expected this answer from them after waiting for such long time. I asked them to backup and went home with out inspection. They close at 7:00 pm wasted my 2 hrs of time. Actually I went on 28th Oct but they said they are overbooked they asked me to come on next day. Person over the counter said you don't have an appointment for state inspection and looked at me as stranger. This is the first time some one asked me for state inspection they need an appointment. I needed a vehicle inspection, because my car was emitting odd metallic sounds. And the dashboard light was going on and off sporadically. I also told Keehan(the store manager), that I had a long 9 hour drive ahead of me that week, visiting my elderly father. So it was especially important for the car to be properly checked. At the end of the visit, I was told that they cannot find the reason for the noise and said I should change the rear brakes, as that could be the reason. I listened and believed and paid $400 to get that done. Then he said that the noise was due to catalytic converters. He said to get rid of the noise I would have to replace the converters and the cost would be $700. When I was hesitant to agree to that, he said it can wait and that it was completely fine to drive the car as is. The next day with the rear brakes change of $400, the same persistent metallic noise was still there. I went to another mechanic for a second opinion (East Coast Tire and Service). Within hours, the professional mechanics at this shop discovered the reason for the noise: "No measurable oil on dipstick" Let that sink in. Keehan and the rest of the Firestone team failed to check for one of the most basic and rudimentary car inspection fundamentals. My car could have been severely damaged. My oil light never went on. I took my car to Firestone for service and they failed to do one of the most easiest fluid checks. This is beyond amateur. This is negligence. This is total disregard for customer care and service. This is especially horrendous, given that I told Firestone's store manager Keehan, that I had a long trip planned and was worried about the noise and wanted everything to be ok. To look at your customer and assure them a proper maintenance check would be done and to not check for OIL! So unprofessional. So outrageous. And shamefully casts into doubt, if I even needed a rear brakes change. We now all know I did not need the catalytic converters changed. After discovering this, by being forced to go to a second mechanic (and pay again, but at least this time to people who actually did the work that Firestone and Keehan never did) I went back to Latham Firestone. At Firestone, I spoke to Keehan to try and understand how he could have mismanaged the care of my car so severely. He offered not a single apology, no explanation, worse he was dismissive and within minutes became aggressive, hostile and began threatening me. His repetitive responses were in the following order: "What do you want me to do about it now?" "I heard you, please leave, there is nothing I can do about it now" "Get out of here, Ma'am!" "Leave now!!!!!!" "Im calling the police" At one point another "associate" of his ganged up on me with him and he chimed in as well: "We don't want your business" "We have thousands of customers" "We're calling the police" Looking back on the nightmare scene of being yelled directly to my face by an ill-mannered & foul-breathed unprofessional, I think I was too shocked to leave. I felt humiliated and so upset that I was being treated like this by this supposed car shop manager. I have been a customer for many years and have spent thousand of dollars at this Firestone location for brakes, battery and other expensive car parts. I of course even paid for this failure of service via a $400 bill. So I could not believe that instead of apologizing to me and offering me some kind of customer service. Keehan was yelling for me to go away and when I was asking him to not berate me in such a rude manner, he elevated his threats to calling the police on me. I was improperly serviced, I had to go to a second mechanic, and when I notified Keehan of the incompetence and obvious gross negligence that my car was treated with, he became defensive and yelled at me. A customer. A recurring customer. A 60-year-old woman with limited income. Who went to Firestone with a car that was making noise and had no oil; And left Firestone with a car that was making noise and had no oil. As for the claim that this customer's business is no longer needed and there being thousands of customers. You will have zero customers if that's how you treat your customers. I have reached out to corporate and better business bureau. And I have told my friends and family about this. Because I wouldn't want anyone to go through the type of bullying and ill treatment of both their person and property that I did. I would suggest training classes for Keehan Saxton and the rest of the staff at Latham Firestone, however I'm not sure if there are any training classes for having a shred of decency. read more

My car was in there for an estimate. The estimate was too high to make fixing the car worthwhile. I have bought another car. I was told that there was no charge. Some time later, I just happened to open what appeared to be an ad for Firestone, only to find that it was a bill from an unused - for 4 years - Firestone credit card which I was not aware I still had. I did not authorize this charge, and was I told that there was no charge whatsoever for my visit. If this is not illegal, it is highly unethical. Sounding like a fishy story...I brought it to another mechanic and I asked him if he had to do a front end alignment to get my alternator in. I went in there for a tune-up after just buying new car only has 46,000 miles on it and otherwise was in good shape. They tried to tell me I needed all four new tires or wasn't going to pass inspection for NYS. The tires we're basically brand-new so I was skeptical and took it to Valvoline where they have always been 100% times better than Firestone and they good no problems and said don't go to Firestone they're dishonest and try to charge you for stuff you don't need will not go again. I literally created this account so i could warn people of this place. Too many times have i had issues with Firestone in Latham, NY that i can no longer ignore. There are a number of items which i can say about the customer service at this location but let me list things that have occurred... number 4 & 5 are ones that made me decide never to return... 1. i had oil changes performed at firestone... i got a call telling me about other issues with my car when i declined to have those issues worked on i received a call back saying that they could not remove my oil filter cap without potentially breaking it because my car uses a different type of oil filter cap and if they tried to remove it theres a chance it would break and they have no repleacements. This is true about my scion having a different cap but they should have replacements aince all toyotas use that cap. This happened 3 straight times so finally i stopped getting my oil changed there. I have changed the oil myself 5 times since never had an issue with the oil folter cap. 2. I had my tires changed there a bunch of times because it is walking distance from my apartment. Now you get free tire rotations when you get forestone tires. When it was time for a tire rotation i went to fire stone and asked for one ... they called me to tell me that i need new shocks and when i told them i could not afford it i was called back and told they could not rotate my tires because they are damaged on the sides and rotating them will cause a blow out?? 3. i've had many inspections done there and each time i miraculously needed My license plate light changed because it was burnt out... this last time before i dropped the car off i checked the bulb and it was good. When i got the call about other issues i had with my car they also included the bulb. I waited till i was there to pay and brought up this same item to them they told me it must be faulty wiring.... which is BS 4. This one really got me pissed... I got my brakes changed there... be weary when you get your brakes changed at fire stone they also mean your rotors as well but do not tell you this until you are ready to pay.... i was very angry about this since i wasnt expecting to pay $480. Fine Rotor are done and made me angry i wasnt told about price but then next year i got to get my breaks done and they basically refused to do my rear brakes without changing my rotors as well... i brought my car to someone else and they changed my rear brakes without any issue when i said i could not afford to do the rotors at this time. 5. about a month ago i changed my oil... I know how to change my oil and at this point i trust no one but myself to use the correct type of oil in my car.... 2 weeks ago i had new tires put on my car....last night my check engine light went on... today i checked my oil and i have none... i go to check under my car and what do you know my oil cap is loosened ever so slightly... this has happened to me before but i never connected it... i am making a wild accusation but i just have the intuition of the situation to know my oil cap was loosened by firestone. In fact when i had my tires put on i declined to have them change my oil because i did not have a sticker since i do it myself, which is exactly what i said to them... ironically my oil cap is loose.... customer service was great! But their mechanics might need better training and to To be more careful with the mechanical work. First I was 4 hours away from home on a trip. I take my care to Firestone (which I do often back home in Jersey) to see why I could smell rubber burning. The sales person calls me to tell me I need a PCV valve and an oil change. So I said sure fix it. I pick my car up and the engine like comes on 15 minutes after getting to my destination. I call the shop and they tell me to bring it back, so i waited the next day. I take the care back the sales person who said my oil cap is loose and that they would fix it. I said ok, and please do because I need my car fixed for when I go home to Jersey. He said don't worry. The whole time also I could smell gas or oil burning but the mechanic said that'll be for a while because of what they fixed. I get things ready for my ride home, a few hours into my ride home my engine light come on, I called the shop and said my light is on should I get to the nearest firestone because I don't need my car to blow up!? He said yes.. so I did just that before getting to the nearest firestone My car started smoking. I pull over and lift the hood there was oil everywhere under my hood because there was no oil cap where it belonged. Bout time I got to a firestone they were closed, so I went to the nearest advance auto to ask them what should I do. They told me and I was able to drive home. It's sad that They have people working and not caring for the safety of their customers. I spend tons of money with firestone because I trust them but they are not to he trusted. I asked my girlfriend to take my car in for a standard alignment/wheel balance while I was at work (car was starting to vibrate pretty badly at speed). They tried to hard-sell her new tires. She refused and asked just for the services specified. While she waited, they were rude and continued the hard-sell her new tires. They even claimed that one of the rims was bent and said we needed a new one --- the rim was not bent and even if it was, rims can be bent back into shape much more cheaply than replacing them. Car came back and and it still vibrated --- and my girlfriend was practically in tears. Needless to say, I was not happy. I ended up taking the car to the Mavis Discount Tire just down the road. They were courteous and did a proper alignment/balance --- had us out of there in less than an hour. read more

I went in to get my tires rotated and to have a screw removed. I first talked to a manager named Sean and got great service. Once i had given needed information I was told I could take a seat seen that it wouldn't take that long. I wondered over near the tires and was looking at them in curiosity. A few moments later I over heard laughing so being my self I listened in on the conversation and heard racial comments being made in assuming against myself. I am sharing my terrible experience at store 2844 at Latham, NY on July 29, 2021. I have also formally logged case#2555415 with firestone corporate customer complaints. I have also given statements to Police ( Town of Colonie) and my legal adviser. Briefly, here is the outline. I am based at Greater Boston, MA from Friday- Monday. But I work in Schenectady, NY from Monday- Thursday. On July 26 (Monday), I really needed to get overdue oil change on my honda civic. I have always gone to a firestone for all my car servicing. I was in Schenectady, NY and decided to call firestone, scotia for an appointment. I have had good experience with them overall. They were booked for appointments all through the week. They ( Manager Lance) knew from servicing my car often that I drive to-fro Massachusetts often and suggested I call other firestones in the area to see if they have appointments. I called Firestone Latham (store#2844) on July 26 ( Monday) to get an appointment for July 29 (2.30pm Thursday) for basic oil change service and tire rotation. I also explained I will wait at the store and then, drive back to Boston after they have serviced. The service person on the phone assured me that I have an appointment booked and it should not be a problem, since they are open from Wednesday (July 28) onwards. On July 29 ( ~ 1pm ; 1 hour ahead of the appointment), I called the store to confirm that my appointment was still valid. The service person confirmed and added that they are running 10-15 mins behind schedule. I asked if I should delay coming since I will be waiting and then have a long drive home.He replied that I can come near about the time and no extra-ordinary delay should happen. I reached and entered store at 2.31pm, July 29 ( Thursday) for my appointment. The person at the desk was eating pizza and I waited couple minute or so, while he finished chewing and looked up at me. I said I had an appointment for oil change/ tire rotation and I had called sometime back to confirm. He immediately said my car will be waiting till 7pm. I said I will be waiting as I have been telling you and you did not give me that impression when I called. He did not let me finish my sentence and just said we are busy. He then said do you want to drop your keys. I said sorry I cannot wait that long and asked is this your firestone service. He said this is standard firestone service. I started walking away. He asked for my name as I was walking away. I replied that, you just said my appointment was confirmed, then you should be able to find my name there. I walked out, but then as soon as I walked back to ask the service person at the desk his full name and store manager name. This was to formally give customer feedback. The service person just said his name is Mike and he is the manager. I asked for the store manager business card ( and/or his business card). He said we don't have any. I said all other firestone stores have a business card, how does he not have any. He said this is standard firestone. I asked, how do I formally log a customer complaint. He said you can google. He said feel free to sue me and laughed. I went outside the store to google for firestone customer care support phone number, dialed and got connected to customer care agent. As soon as the call connected, I walked up near to the service manager desk and started narrating my experience with customer care. As soon as the service manager (Mike) heard me logging a complaint with corporate customer care, he loudly told me, he is calling police. I said, good, I can talk to police as well. I finished logging my complaint and got my case number. The customer care agent said the case will be followed-up by firestone area manager. I asked customer agent that service manager told me he has called police and is it okay if I wait for 3 more minutes ( total 20mins with the call, etc. included). The customer care (Tim) said sure, that is fine. I waited 3 minutes, then walked to service manager ( Mike) to ask if the police are there yet. He said yes, police is already here. I asked, Where? He said we have 'firestone police' and then called out a rough looking, very rude mechanic from the back of the store. Also, as I had been logging my phone complaint, the service manager kept trying to interrupt me by making jokes about me to other customers and fellow workers, including this 'firestone police' joke. The mechanic asked me what is the problem. Just as I utterd cwords, he started using crude language and rudely asked me to leave store. He threatened that I cannot record any of this incident by law. I walked out of the store. I drove out of firestone premises and parked next door to the coffee shop. I again called customer care phone number and added the details about the 'firestone police' and implicit threat of violence from their staff. We are in the military we travel a lot so I have visited Firestone across the country from Virginia California and now New York I'm so happy I stopped by the Latham store today! Marcel was approachable and friendly and asked me for my keys for my oil change. Got there at 8:30 am on time for my appointment and then car was taken back by 8:40. I usually expect away anywhere between 50 minutes to an hour they called me up at 9:10 saying my oil change was done! Now on to my many other Saturday errands. Marcel was was a pleasure to talk to and he was very professional which is what Firestone is all about. They honored my oil change coupon\voucher and he did it with a smile. Kevin was the person who carried out the oil change and my car is running beautifully! If I could give them zero stars I would. We went in thinking we needed a tire patched. They called saying we also needed a rotation, and so we agreed. Before the rotation there was no shimmy now there is a bad one, feeling like something was off I contacted a friend of mine who works at a different shop. He told them the shimmy was caused when they put the older more worn tires in the front. They knew it would mean we would come back for more work. Livid, I took the car to my friends shop to have it fixed because I did not want to give FireStone money when they did something so sketchy. ( we live near FireStone and my friends shop is about 20 min away) my friend looked at the font tires and couldn't believe they even let us drive away, they are actually splitting and incredibly dangerous. They could blow any moment putting me and my 2 children in danger. He said he would have highly advised any customer, especially one with a carseat in it, to drive away. We are actually headed on a trip this weekend and the people at firestone put us all in danger because they clearly cared more about the getting is in for work and upselling us instead of their actual customer. THis shop went out of their way to help me. I came in with a car that wouldn't start, after purchasing a battery from them just 5 months prior. They tested the battery and told me it not the battery but an electric drain associated with a common problem on my vehicle, and told me to go to the dealer. They did not even charge me for the test they ran on my car, even though the problem was not their battery. Then after the dealer told me that I now needed another new battery,I called Firestone back. Marcel not only agreed to replace my battery for free, under warranty, he arranged for the new battery to be delivered to my dealer to be installed! I can not tell you how that wow'd me and it also inspired my dealership to match the excellent customer service, as they reversed my diagnosis charge as well. SO thank you for being a shining example of excellent customer service, going above and beyond. You will have my business for a longtime! read more

As soon as the weather started getting cold, I left work to find I had a dead battery. I brought it into the Latham Firestone hoping they would be able to fit me in just before they closed and they took pity on me and said "No problem, we can get that done for you." I was so relieved, both for them fitting me in and Josh's great attitude about it. I thought the battery cost was a little high, so I looked online and that is what batteries for my particular vehicle go for. A week later I called and tried to make an appointment to get my snow tires installed that morning, and again, they not only fit me in, when they asked when I last had an alignment, I said "I did not know, but if it needs it, do it", and I was happily surprised that it did not. And that price was less than what I was paying at Tire Warehouse each season. It is great to know that your mechanic will not leave you stranded, will not try to get you to approve unnecessary work just to increase your bill and that the price you pay is fair. I would give them zero stars...Went in the the Latham Firestone to have my snow tires put on which I purchased there a year ago and while I was waiting It was called to my attention that my vehicle need roughly $1,200.00 worth of repair including new brakes and rotors, brake fluid, coolant, and new spark plugs. Once I was informed of these repairs I immediately responded and said I just had new brake pads installed a month ago and they could not be bad. The gentleman working with me went on to say per the technician they are bad and all of the other items listed needs immediate attention. As I was disagreeing with him he brought me back to speak to the technician and he explained none of the items listed were necessary as he only was recommending them based on my mileage. Well that's a big difference compared to what I was told. If I had just agreed to them and not just had my breaks done they would of done work that was not needed.
