Two things about what we normally regard as a fairly banal establishment. 1. Over the weekend I was doing chores that required looking down and noticed my eyeglasses were too easily slipping off my face. I happened to be in to pick up a few household items, saw the optician was in, and asked if he could help. He did immediately, checked how they were sitting behind my ears, and went to make the adjustments. Swapped in new nose pads while he was at it. Excellent service. 2. They have really stepped it up with their "scan and go" feature. The last couple of times I've been there I didn't even have to stop on the way out to have a few items scanned for their stop-loss process. It's so convenient. read more

I just love sams. It's worth the drive for me. I've really come to make it a weekly stop. There are so many unqiue food offerings, and slightly less products which is great if you're not feeding a family of 5. At C*stco, everything is $10+ and I think Sams has great variety of foo under $10 and a lot of fresh food. Their sushi is 5/5 amazing. I love the scan and go aspect as well. ALSO when they mark things down, the deals are epic! clothing for kids for less than $3 for an outfit?! You can also get food from the cafe on your phone and skip the line. read more

This business may have easily accessible entrance, but unless you bring your own mobility cart or you can walk, you ain't getting in. The carts are mostly uncharged in various areas of the parking lot. This is the third time recently it has occurred. Out of the two Sam's Club locations, I usually go to this one more often. The product selection and stock availability is pretty good. The lines are usually long here, so I strongly recommend using Scan And Go to be out quicker. But overall, the staff is pretty helpful and friendly. read more

Ehhhh.... It's okay. That really sums it up. Their gas lines, which is why we normally stop by, isn't terribly long so that's a bonus. They often have issues with the card readers and on multiple occasions we've had to have the employee scan her card since ours magically doesn't work. The parking lot kinda sucks with how it's laid out. Inside it's your basic Sam's Club. This location really has some quality control issues with their produce though. It also feels like they have issues keeping stuff stocked. I appreciate the family bathroom with the toddler potty though. I wish more stores still had these. It's rarely clean though so that's a bummer. Check out takes FOREVER if you need to use self check or the regular lines so do yourself a favor and use scan and go with the sam's club app. Checkout can take a long time so you've been warned. Overall If someone asks me Sam's Club vs Costco I always say Sams is like the ghetto cousin of Costco. This location really lives up to that statement. read more

This review is strictly for the gas pump area at the Millard (Omaha) Sam's, although not just about this specific location, but also the Papillion (Omaha) location. - Background: I have Sam's and Costco memberships and get gas at Sam's about 50% of the time and Costco 50% of the time (in the Omaha area as well as elsewhere around the country when I'm traveling). Locally (Omaha), I get gas at two different Costco and two different Sam's locations. The point is I can compare Sam's vs. the competition (Costco) and Sams's vs. Sam's. - Observation 1: despite nice, large, bright, obvious yellow [one-way] arrows painted on the ground, and One Way/Do Not Enter signs at both ends of the pumps, people are always pulling in the wrong way, particularly at this Millard/L St location. This is, in part, due to Sam's customers who either can't read or don't care. However, it's also due to pump attendants who don't have the guts or the care to speak to these people and ask them to turn their vehicles around and not pull in the wrong direction in the future. - Observation 2: The Millard location is worse about this than the Papillion location, but I have seen it there, too. - Observation 3: I have honestly never seen people ignoring arrows and one way/do not enter signs at either Costco location in Omaha. And the pump attendants at Costco seem to be more willing to tell people to shut off their engines, etc. So I don't know if Sam's pump attendants are apathetic, gutless, or told not to ever confront customers. If that's the case, I may start pulling in the wrong direction, leaving my engine running, and lighting up a cigar while I'm talking on my phone as I'm gassing up my big truck. - Observation 3a: Today I was obeying the signs and arrows and entering from the appropriate direction...and trying to pull up to the forward pump. Some other guy entered from the wrong direction and cut me off at that pump, so I confronted him and asked if he could see the bright yellow arrows and read the "Do Not Enter" sign, both of which were within a few feet of his vehicle. This guy got butthurt and went over to the attendant and asked if it was ok if he pulled in that way (i.e., the wrong way). The pump attendant said, verbatim, "Sure, that's fine", hence my previous statement that maybe I'll enter the wrong way, smoke, talk on the phone, and leave the engine running...see if they say anything then. -- Bottom line: in the grand scheme of things, this is extremely minor. However, why bother having arrows and signs if people are going to ignore them and the pump attendants just stand there and watch (and say it's ok when some other mean customer dares speak up)? Why bother? And why isn't this an issue at Costco? I have my theories... Anyway, there's nothing wrong with this Sam's Club...I shop there often (about as often as the La Vista (Omaha) Costco. But the stupidity at the pumps drives me nuts, and it would be nice if Sam's addressed the matter...or got rid of the arrows and signs and made it a free-for-all. read more

Sam's Club is very similar to Costco, with a twist of Walmart. I maintain memberships with both Sam's and Costco because they often have very different inventory. Their prices are usually the same on most items, but sometimes one or the other will be cheaper for certain things. Like Costco, Sam's selection tends to be extremely limited. They don't accept manufacturers coupons and unlike Costco, they don't mail out coupons to their members, however Plus members will receive automatic discounts on certain items when they make their purchase. Sam's generally has fresher produce than Costco. They have a gas station out front which usually has competitive prices, though Costco is usually a bit cheaper. Unlike Costco, Sam's gas allows you to use other credit cards. This particular location has a pharmacy, one-hour photo, bakery, optical department, tire center and a food court. Membership is required to shop at Sam's Club, which costs $35 per year for business or $40 for a personal membership. There's also a "Plus" membership for $100 a year. Unlike Costco's Executive Membership, which offers a 2% rebate on purchases, Sam's Plus membership doesn't offer as much for the money. Sam's offers their own credit card through Discover. Business and personal members get up to 1% cash back, Plus members get 2% back. Note that you only get these rebate levels if you spend more than a certain amount of money per year; rebate levels start at 1/4%. They also offer a Sam's Club credit card which can only be used at Sam's or Walmart. Sam's Club does NOT accept Visa or American Express. You can also purchase items online and they will pull and hold them for pickup so you can get in and out in a jiffy. This particular location also has a covered loading area, which is great for when it's raining outside. Unfortunately, there's no roof between the exit and the loading zone, so you're still going to get a little wet. read more

Update: This month our order was ready on time and it went a lot smoother. Happy about the improvement hoping it stays that way. Me and some girls from work went here to get a food order for our after school program. We come here once a month and spend A LOT of money here, there are two other schools in the program that do as well. We did a pick and pull order online on Wednesday and came to pick it up on Friday. It was supposed to be ready at 7am. We got there at 8:30 am and it hadn't even been picked yet. We did not get our order until close to 10am. When we first arrived and were told that our order was not ready, we were then ignored and they moved onto the next customers. After the next customers left they finally spoke to us again and said to sit at the tables by the registers and that they would come get us when they were ready. They never even apologized. I understand things happen and I sympathize, but when you can't even act like you care a little bit then that's when I lose sympathy. There was also a woman there that seemed to be of a higher position that was being quite rude and obnoxious to the other employees and customers. Very loud and rude and not very appropriate behavior to display especially in front of customers. This is not the first time this has happened recently. I hope they can turn it around and appreciate their loyal customers and treat them with respect. read more

I know where everything I want is located and the seasonal and fun items are fabulous. If I'm in the mood to grab a birthday present or a Christmas present there's always have fun selection. Recently received a free Sams Club Card so decided to give it a try . On this particular day as we walked in there was a sewer smell . One Person was behind a set of tables fairly overwhelmed of the line waiting for customer service . They had zero carts to take and people were standing around waiting . After finally getting a cart I noticed that had a huge line of them they were using managing how people walked around . Off to a bad start . I definitely noticed that the store was not organized , And it was not clean .my son and I saw a 1/2 eating package of donuts , many items misplaced and saw not one employee out on the floor . Sams seems to cater more to the fundraisers as the candy section was huge . Scan and go was the highlight of the trip as checkout lines were so long but we were able to walk out , without dealing with it . I'm glad I didn't pay for the card, and once it expires we won't go back . I will stick to the Other Warehouse store we have . read more

I would be on the interstate headed back to Lincoln, so I called to see what the member price on gas was, since Omaha is regularly less than Lincoln and I didn't want to diverge from my route if the savings weren't warranted. I was informed this information isn't given out. WHAT?? It's on a sign for any driver to see as they pass by. Since I would be hitting rush hour, I was wisely calling ahead, so that I could make an informed decision. Well, I did make that decision. I decided to never return to this location. I've been trying to find out about a purchase for over three weeks now and have tried multiple times online contacting them and have not received any response. I called customer service at the store they said they had no idea how to resolve my issue and to call Sam's online customer service. I did that and waited on hold for over 25 minutes only to hear we can't help either. It is Very apparent why Costco is taking over and Sam's is going downhill in my city and surrounding areas. Careful They have no intention of making cancellation simple. Transferred 5 times trying to cancel auto-renew of membership. Deliberately difficult!! Then there is the promise that they will refund your membership if you are not satisfied. I could not accomplish that at all. I finally told them to keep the $100 and I would consider it a lesson learned. I was on the fence when I called to cancel but will now avoid anything to do with Sam's or it's parent company. If Wal-Mart were to go Super-Size, you'd get Sam's Club. Both are owned by the same company and both occupy a monstrous area of land in SW Omaha when combined. Sam's Club is not surprisingly similar to Wal-Mart. At both stores: the greeters give you creepy stares, there are unkempt and obnoxious customers in the snack section (it's ALWAYS the snack section), most of the employees despise you as much as they despise their job, and items are always very cheap. Unlike Wal-Mart, Sam's Club asks that you obtain a membership for $40. It's important to keep in mind that they will check for a card during checkout, so sneaking in hoping it will go undetected is not wise. Once inside, everything has gone Super-Size - they even make you buy Sun Chips in pairs! Their selection is hit-and-miss. Obviously not everything in Wal-Mart will come in a larger size, so Sam's Club doesn't carry items that I would otherwise purchase. Also to note is the wait. Unless I happen to visit on particularly busy dates and times by accident, expect the checkout to take longer than your actual grocery shopping. Every line will be full of people purchasing dozens of items like there was going to be a nuclear war tomorrow. Sometimes an employee will come around and scan your items whilst you wait in line so that all you have to do at the register is pay. read more

Again Sam's astounds me. A Their lack of customer service and willingness to go the extra mile to please a customer and make a sale great is ridiculous. Rather than getting an item for me, one of their mid management made me get out of line to retrieve an item myself, thus prolonging my transaction and inconveniencing several shoppers behind me. Absolutely the WORST place to shop from a customer service standpoint. I had an issue with them about $ owed me on my account. I talked to probably 10 different people over the course of a month and got NoWhere. They kept telling me that someone would get back to me, and I heard from noone. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing there. I couldn't even get a Manager to call me back- not once. Chain of command??? After One Month of talking with their customer service personnel, someone gave me an 800 number to call. I would tell you it's a great place to shop if you don't happen to have a problem. Worst customer service ever! I had to call 4 times. Each time I was put on hold from 17 minutes to 9 minutes; until I would call back again. Finally, someone didn't put me on hold. I placed an order for a $1600 order. I even informed my bank of this purchase so that there was no issues. Sam's Club processed my order, took the money out of my bank, then later in the afternoon Sam's Club CANCELLED my order. They did not have the product. & rather than say this, the lady proceeded to tell me that the bank cancelled the order due to the address not matching the card. Which obviously was a lie considering we've used the same bank for 20+ years & had just spoken to our banker 5 minutes previous. All she had to do was say that she messed up & that they didn't have the product instead of trying to place the blame elsewhere. We knew she was lying the moment she tried to blame our banker. We called him & he said, NO, we did not cancel the order, Sam's Club did. Exactly, bc they didn't have the product. I do not recommend this Sam's Club to anyone. Each month I pay my Sams Club Discover card in full and on time. Last month I mailed my check in on the 25th for a payment that was due the following month on the 7th. This month i received a statement with a $25 late charge. I called to dispute and asked for them to reverse this and was told unfortunately they could not. Sams Club is now dead to me.
