Most of the bad reviews here seem irrelevant or very outdated. I'm a new Sam's Club member and very pleased so far with my shopping experience. For a small town like Plattsburgh that does not have a Costco, well Sam's club is a great option to buy things in bulk or a cheaper price. In recent years I believe the store has undergone a rebranding, as I use to come shop using a visitor's day pass, but this is no longer available. I've noticed the renovated customer service counter as well as new features in the app like Scan & Go which is super convenient. Very few stores will offer this feature where you can just scan items as you shop, place them in your cart, then pay on your phone and just go. No need to wait in line for the cashier! This is a sign of the times! Being from Montreal, Canada, I love the selection of goods here and pricing that cannot be matched to what I find back home. Things to look out for, good priced clothing, frozen goods like appetizers and ready made meals, cheese, baked good - the brownies are divine!! - as well as children's toys. These are all great value. The in house Member's Mark brand is also a good choice for anything they make, it seems on par with Kirkland products at Costco. Sam's Club has overall more selection of items compares to Costco, but at this location, I noticed less ready made food items compared to Costco in Vermont. For example, if you want premade large salads, party platters, chicken pot pie, pasta dishes or other meals that are already cooked, Sam's offers a bit less in this department. Still worth checking out and even we don't come often, the membership is worth the thrill of just shopping and finding new items. Plus having lunch at the food court is such good value, the pizza and ice cream are amazing. Make sure you try the brownie sundae. It is loaded with brownies and huge cup for less than 2 bucks! Anyone considering getting a membership or renewing, well we were able to get a great deal on Groupon, they often have yearly memberships for as low as 15$ or 20$ so make sure you sign up online. As a Canadian, I didn't have any issues signing up online this way and then just asking for a real membership card in stores. read more

The woman who was on checkout duty today was cold, unfriendly and rude. Didn't say two words, not even to tell us we were good to go after checking out purchase. Wished her a good day and got an ugly scowl from her. She should not be customer facing, but rather in the warehouse away from customers. read more

This was one of the poorest equipped Sam's Club we have been in. Many items were missing. The choice for bread was very few. The fruit was poor and not well stocked. The layout to get in and out of the parking lot defied common sense. read more

When I go to Sam's Club it is 65% busy. I have only eaten there once and it was awful! The employees are very helpful and kind. I use the store sometimes because I really don't need "big items". I can't go to Sam's Club without buying a whole bag of something. The self- check- out works very well, I have never had problems with it! I would definitely come here again. This review is for the food court only. I don't know what happened in the past few months but the food use to be good and now it is horrible. We ate pizza there several times a week because it was delicious and a value. Not any more. Now the pizza is pretty much a combination of raw, doughy undercooked crust and burnt dry toppings. And it has no flavor. I hope management looks into this. It even looks awful but we gave it the benefit of the doubt twice only to find out it tastes as horrible as it looks. read more

There tire department is the worst! No organization and the biggest one --- associates don't care. There is never anyone at the customer counter to assist the customer when they arrive for service or information in that area. read more

The rules at this store change every day. Last time I went shopping here they asked me if I wanted to use my reward points to take money off from my purchase and I declined in order to use the saved points at a later date on the shared account that my wife and I share. Today I did my shopping as I usually do and at checkout I wanted to use my saved points to take money off from my final total. They told me that because my wife is the "primary card holder" that I couldn't use my points. Wasted an hour of my time shopping. Needed to use those points this shopping trip due to tight times for christmas. Guess I will have to stretch things this week. Thanks a lot Sams club and Merry Christmas to you and yours. read more

Was in your store today with my mom around 1:30pm . I came to buy a watermelon. I was looking out of the box that was in the front entrance and while I was looking one of your associates who had a box of watermelons on a pallet jack was coming towards me he then motioned with his hand to my mom to move over and then said move!!! I was absolutely mortified!!! He was rude, disrespectful and absolutely no courtesy whatsoever. I said something to him and he proceeded to act like I wasn't there. Now this isn't the first time I have encountered a rude associate from your store. It seems like every time I visit your store I have a bad experience. Apparently customer service nor courtesy towards customers isn't a top priority anymore. I will no longer be shopping at your store. read more

The store seems to drop items and use the "corporate excuse" every time they can't tell If an item is returning... In the last three years at least seven items that we purchased on a routine basis has been discontinued... Costco is right across the lake much better store much better prices they keep a consistent inventory and they can always tell you when the item will be returning. No one at Sam's can tell you anything and they really don't care if you can find your items are not. We have the membership which cost more so we can get in early but there's no point in having any membership because the items that we need are slowing evaporating read more

Oh my goodness! The sales pressure never stopped! This is the typical big box Sam's Club with the usual merchandise. My husband and I have belonged to Costco for years, but we are spending some months in the area of this store (no nearby Costco) so we went in and joined Sam's Club. We wanted a basic membership, but the woman helping us REALLY wanted to sell us the premium membership. She would NOT give up! My husband finally had to be very firm about what we wanted; it was either that or walk away. Okay...so then we did our shopping only to have the woman at the register do the same thing!! Again, she wouldn't take "No, thank you. Really!!" for an answer. Again, my husband had to be VERY firm that we did NOT want the premium membership, only to have a third woman who was putting our items back in the basket start in on us with her sales pitch!! Enough already!! I mean this was so offensive that we do not intend to go back. We will drive the extra distance to Costco instead! Sam's Club, I know you want to sell your higher priced memberships, but learn to take no for an answer! read more
