I love Sam's Club. I also have a Costco membership as well, but Sam's has an edge over Costco (at least at the time of this review). Why Sam's is better. 1) Curbside pickup. Order online and just pick up your order without going in. Why doesn't Costco do this? 2) Scan, pay and go. Use the Sam's App to scan your items, pay then just walk out the freaking door without having to go through the checkouts. This is a great feature. Again, why doesn't Costco do this? This Sam's location has a great selection. Store is clean. It is relatively easy to get in and out (driving I mean). Wilmington is always a little dicey when it comes to traffic. Gas prices are also very good and I try to fill up here when I am in the area. read more

We were in the wilmington.nc sams club, nobody's try to help find the things what we need and lying to us. And the associates lady was accused as we stealing a wine box. We have no idea why she was so upset before us and came so hysterical but come on, we have our business and old enough know about darn box, we could pay if that's what it needs. I love coming to this store when we are in town it always seems to have few things ours doesn't.. found some good deals and have all kinds of stuff from food to clothes to a sit in and eat spot where they serve hot dogs and pizzas and pretzels! Combos are so cheap it's easy grab quick bite before or after shopping! The one day I run into Sam's just to grab something from the café for my kids without buying anything else I go to leave and tell the door attendant that I only went to the café. Yolanda wouldn't let me leave because I didn't have a receipt. I wasn't given one, and honestly I never usually need it. I told her I wasn't sure what she wanted me to do. There are cameras everywhere, and it's not like I'm trying to steal three frozen yogurts and a whole pizza. She insisted it was "new company policy" to have a receipt. I even showed her my bank account, which clearly had today's café transaction along with my grocery purchase from yesterday. She kept acting like she was only seeing yesterday's, and honestly I shouldn't have shown her my bank account to begin with and made them pull up the cameras. She pointed me to a lady at jewelry, who I wish I had gotten the name of because she was so kind. She immediately said they should have given me a receipt and told Yolanda over the walkie that I was good to go. So just a heads-up make sure you keep your café receipt, because Yolanda will hold up the entire line and won't let you leave without it. I guess at least she was following company policy. But she could've helped me figure it out without humiliating me. For now on I will be ordering online from the cafe so I can avoid the hassle and humiliation just in case I don't get or misplace my receipt. Watch out Costco here I come lol read more

We have preparing Christmas gift for our business customers and friend every year in Sam's club. We checked myrtle beach Sam's club and Wilmington location and find out theres no other shipment on Christmas week for flowers. So we stopped by Myrtle beach today and drove to Wilmington, NC Sam's club. The flower shop worker did not even opened flower shipment box, and said "there's no red roses" and "check out next christmas week shipment," he said " its sure new roses." which is lie, we already checked it's no shipment. We turn around picked up some wines on the box( it was on the box). Since we buying wines we thought it would be ok to a box for wine. The lady associate came for check out wine beverage, she looked pretty upset before us some reason. She was jumped out screaming front of people as we are stealing a box and then she sneaking and following to gate. It was obviously not her best day and we are totally surprised by her help. We totally regret why we did not looking for her manager or owner for her misguided behavior. We understand Christmas is stressful, it does not means you should be mean for your customer. This experience is totally ridiculous and rude and not acceptable. I guess 22years of our shopping experience is totally disappointed by this one lady. No cashiers to check you out. Self check out. Then when you leave they have ONE person who rescans your entire order with something similar to an iPhone. Line 20 deep. If they want to scan your items, have cashiers. Also, slaw items ring up 1/2 times. read more

Pretty average for a Sam's club. Love the sale prices. (Look for the yellow price tags! For instance Kraft singles on sale for $6.77 for 72 slices!) Store was clean and stocked. Used Scan & Go on their app and avoided the lines. read more

We have been numerous times and I have to say I'm really impressed with how much diversity there is on the options for pretty much everything you could need in bulk. I'm so sick and tired of businesses who say one thing to your face and then have you sign up for something different. You'll never know unless you read the fine print. It is so dishonest and shameful. So, here's what happened, and my mother can confirm the conversation as she was standing right next to me... I was approached by a Sam's Club employee a couple weeks ago while checking out. She asked if I wanted to be a Sam's Club plus member and get 5% cashback on all purchases. She said it normally cost $55 but that they were running a promotion today and would be at a much cheaper rate. I don't remember the exact cost but it was something like $15-20. She then went on to tell me other benefits, such as longer hours and discounts on optometry, nothing of real benefit to me. I asked her if I could think about it for a moment while I rang up my order in the self checkout. I needed a moment to do some quick calculations, i.e. what would be my 5% cash back for that days purchase, and how often I came. It made sense, if I could get 5% cash back on all my purchases. So, I called her back over and signed up. While she was signing me up I even said how I was surprised at the 5% cash back and what a great deal that was. My membership is due to expire in 4 months, so I asked if this deal would expire with my membership or if it would last from the time I signed up as long as I renewed my membership. She said she didn't know and at this point, potentially with only four months left, I thought it was still a good deal. She then ran and got me a $10 gift card, I had not expected it but, she said that I had qualified for it. Fast forward to today. As I checked out at Sam's I was expecting to see my 5% cash back. When there was nothing I proceeded to ask about it. This cashier now tells me I have to spend $500 in order to get $10 cash back. And I will not be getting that money until two months before my membership is to renew (which is now 3 months away). She then explained that I would not be a plus member when I renewed unless I paid $100 for the year! She said they must have prorated my plus membership. I told her that was not mentioned when I signed up. She apologized and then gave me a brochure that explained all of this. I might mention that I had not seen this brochure previously. In the end I'm only out five dollars. But the principal the first person was trying to be deceitful and I don't appreciate it. I just wish businesses would be more transparent with these sort of memberships. read more

It is a Sam's Club and it is one of the better ones. It is usually pretty well stocked and the staff is usually helpful. Getting there early or going late is usually best. The best way to get in and out of the store quickly and easily is to download the Scan & Go app. This way you can scan your own items, pay for them with a credit card and go straight to the receipt area to leave. They then scan a code on your phone and you are on your way out... read more

Dropping off a college student & decided to add her to our business membership. Cost was $45 plus we can add another person for free. Best thing - they gave her a $15 gift card for joining! If I was a college student, I'd come here on Saturdays to graze the samples. Also, gas is 5-10 cents cheaper than any place around. Beautiful fruits and veggies... I have been to this @SamsClub a couple of times. They have a gas station that is cheaper than most around. Too bad my car does not like their gas. The warehouse is clean, and is the same as all of the other Sam's. I would run into Sam's just for lunch at times. Awful customer service I bought two things forgot my card stood in line at customer service to get my temporary for 30 minutes there was only one lady the store was mostly empty because it was first thing in the morning. No excuses for not sending somebody else over it took me 40 minutes to get two things. Not the workers fault it's all the management and we're just standing around talking to each other as I check out. The member ship cost 45$ a year and will allow up to two people on one membership, each individual of the account will receive their own membership card with their info. Although I could review every department (with varying results), this review is about the Tire Center. I trust it without question. Aside from all the other great things they've helped me and my sweetie with, Thursday 9/17 was exceptional. We were headed out of town for the weekend and wanted to get the slow leak in one of the tires checked. They did everything possible and found nothing. So they did a bunch of tightening and this and that. Rotated the tires. Rebalanced them. And assured us, we should be fine. They had the car - the tire - for an hour and a half. I dreaded hearing the bill for finding no damage but completely servicing all the tires. I braced for it... "How much?" And grimaced. He said there was no charge, for any of it. And added that the tire in question was fine, they suspected it was a loose valve, but no need for a new one because it still had 25k miles left on it based on tread wear. Well, I was in a daze after hearing that news. He was a tall, youngish black man. Very professional. Very polite. And very thorough and attentive. THIS is why I come here for tire issues! Period. But it's also the eternal dichotomy for a consumer. I know this gentleman belongs on an upward career path to management - but I hate the idea of losing him at the tire center. Selfish of me, I know. This gentleman understands quality customer service in an age of no customer service. read more

Great first experience as a member today! Member Services efficiently helped me get my membership card. The staff at the optical center were friendly and helpful. Even an associate went out of her way to double check the availability of a particular item with a coworker. Quick self check out was a breeze. The customer service was great so I think I made the right decision to get a membership here instead of the wholesale club competitor down the street that I've previously had customer service issues with. I'm looking forward to trying their online shopping with free curbside pickup service (something the wholesale club competitor down the street that has a more expensive membership doesn't offer). read more

You definitely get what you pay for. I used their photo department to print an 8x10. I've used them before and they are quality prints at a reasonable price. Today the low print price cost me a 1/2 hour of my time waiting for an associate to show up at the photo desk. A sign had been left out saying contact an Electronics Associate for Assistance. They must have all been on break too - I walked the department and couldn't find anyone. Staffing needs to be adjusted to ensure gaps in Customer Service don't occur. On a positive note, the Greeter was VERY friendly and helpful in tracking down assistance. read more

I called to see if my Christmas cards were in, and the lady was very disrespectful to me and also was unable to help me because she didn't have access to information. This whole company is disjointed and somehow, no one has access to other departments or supervisors. With that being said, I'll be canceling my Sam's Club membership. Dominick in the wireless dept was an absolute Hero in helping my wife & I get our new phones & plans! He went so far above & beyond, it was UNBELIEVABLE! We saved like 60% off of our phones...& we are BUYING them...not leasing them like the retail store was pushing us to do. We came in 30 min b4 closing one night, & he stayed late trying to get our service changed, but the provider wasnt cooperating. So he told us to come bk @ 9am the nxt day. When we got there, we figured out that he had come in early, & had EVERYTHING done! & hes not even on commission!!! What a great guy! I got my membership a couple of months ago and tried them one more time. Not good. It's still Wal-Mart. Bad customer service a few checkers and managment hasn't a clue about anything. So glad I got my Costco membership back. Had to call to cancel and it's been over a week and still no refund. Been a Business member since 1991. The last several times to Sam's Club (Wilmington NC), when checking out, I noticed that I was paying full price on any sale Items purchased. I actually took pictures of sale item, showing it to the checkout associate. They always tell you the price would would be reduced to sale price when finalizing check out. Not so! So today I told the associate that I had 2 items that were on sale. Needless to say, retail price again. When I told her this was not correct, Haley said because it is a business account you no longer get items on sale because Sam's no longer honors business accounts, and in order to get the discount, I would need to apply for a regular membership. By this time, I was getting frustrated, knowing in the past, this was not the case. The associate, Haley was very rude and argumentative. I explained to her that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. She responded that she was right anyway. I am a manager for a large corporation. This kind of response to a customer at our company would be grounds for termination. read more

Is zero stars an option? Had a horrible experience at this club! I opted to have new tires put on my low mile SUV (for the first time ever) and after a pricing issue that I had to argue with them about, I walked out to find all my rims damaged. I approached management who took fault and assured me their claims department would handle it. Weeks later, management changed their story and the claims department decided there was no way the tire shop could have done the damage and suddenly there was "documentation of prior damage to the vehicle". The documentation from the tech on the final paperwork stated "scratches on rims/truck"...The damage to the wheels was literal gouging in the metal where they removed the center cap. My claim was denied, I was basically called a liar, and they told me they refused to reassess. If you value your vehicle don't get tires here! I personally will spend the extra $ at Costco from now on. read more

I've been shopping at Sam's for years. My parents shop here religiously. I really like Sam's everything comes in bulk and I know its a warehouse . there prices are very reasonable. They also have some products that normal grocery stores don't. One thing I do have to complain about is they remodeled back in the summer I believe it was and since then there registers are set up a way that there can be an actually cashier or it can be self check out and almost every time I go there might be one or two registers open and the rest are self check outs I have a few issues with this. One what if you need help you have to go track someone down and two their some people with physical limitations and what are they supposed to do and three this takes away customer service almost completely. I think its a bad idea. I love the products and the store just not the customer service anymore . over all great. read more
