A cute neighborhood place that lasted for almost as long as the city it was in. I ordered two sides: roasted seasonal veggie and currant toasts. My hubby got Reuben sandwich. Reuben really stood out. One of the best we had ever had. Excellent home cooking with very fresh ingredients. Price is also good too!

We were seated around 11am and got settled before two other couples who came in after us. A little frustratingly, we weren't brought drinks or silverware while the other tables were taken care of right away and even had a chance to order food. The server did do a great job tending to them almost immediately after they were seated, so the difference in service definitely stood out. That said the food was pretty good. I ordered the trout and eggs and really enjoyed it, especially the side of veggie mix. My boyfriend got the chilaquiles and was actually surprised by how much he liked them. Overall aside from the service, we enjoyed the meal and would still consider coming back. As for the ambiance it definitely had a cabin feel which fits the name. We were seated outdoors and since it wasn't too cold, it was perfect. There was plenty of outdoor seating and the whole place had a very homey comfortable feel.

breakfast never needs to be more than this. SUPER cute patio. solid, you-get-what-you-expect food. good, unfussy service. there is only outdoor seating and i would not say this is a great place to bring a group bigger than 6 people or work on a laptop. this is a place for coffee, toast, eggs, and conversations with people you actually like

From Chula Vista on up to Crescent City this might be the best breakfast spot in all of California and beyond that I've ever been to save for maybe Al's breakfast in Dinkytown/Minneapolis. But, that would be a rather long commute. Housed in a former Sears Roebuck log cabin catalog home. It's a great piece of nostalgia from a precious time gone bye. You know, the predecessor to amazon.com where one could order everything from a clutch pressure plate for a 1959 Ford Galaxy, a new top for a convertible VW Beetle, and even a house! (At one time the Worlds largest seller of home furnishings and top-quality, Craftsman tools.) A lovely outdoor patio with an excellent friendly staff and delicious organic meals. Fantastic ambience !Today I enjoyed "hardly working" with an extra egg over hard and a wonderful corn pancake with REAL maple syrup. This is the Shiznits. There are also wonderful items to go, including delicious scones. This IS the real deal, surprising there's not a line a block long every day . Please note that they actually do special events as well.

The ultimate question is: would I come back? YES, I would! The raspberry almond pancake was perfectly sweetened and paired beautifully with my latte (which was YUM). The side of veggies w/ herbed potatoes was mixed nicely with my side of avocado and scrambled egg. I'll look forward to coming back to try their scones:)

Luckily, we were able to beat the weekend crowd and try this place during the weekday. The check-in desk was on the side of the building which we wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the stranger seeing us attempting to go inside with a stroller. Outdoor is spacious and perfect for the nice weather lately. There's also plenty of shade and some tables in the sun, if that's your preference. They have a self serve station for water and coffee. Don't forget to check out their daily specials board too! The ingredients are fresh and the food quality is there. Some flavor was missing, though. The biscuit was notl toasted which was a bummer and came off as lazy. No butter was served neither on it or on the side. The grits tasted more like oatmeal, it was too chunky than most. The chilaquiles was amazing, esp with the side guac. The chips remained crispy even though they were tossed in some red sauce. The farm roasties had a medley of veggies that were earthy and sweet. The French toast was cool. The scone was good, but I wish they had warmed it up a little. I see why people love this place - the quality is great esp for the prices. More seasoning or flavor profile would get me back here sooner than later.

The food had me at hello! (see my original review). I brought my elderly mom back on a cold morning. I reassured her that we would be ok because they have heat lamps. I signed our name on the waitlist and we stood near the entrance to waiting for a server to see us and get us seated. (this is their procedure). I made eye contact with two servers and neither one acknowledged us (.."be right with you", no smile, nod, nothing) We waited a few more minutes and I stepped into the patio only to see one of the servers who saw us taking a photo of some diners with no regard for us standing in the cold waiting to be seated. So we left. I won't stand for inconsiderate treatment. Being ignored is unacceptable.

Best corn beef hash ever. Large juicy chunks of corn beef that are so tender. This is not the pasty dogfood version of corn beef hash. Wow. Really impressed. Wait here is not fun but the outdoor space with abundant heat lamps is worthwhile. Hate to say it, but of the 5-6 brunch spots in the wider area, this has to be our favorite. Coffee is solid. Pancakes are very fluffy with just the right amount of texture. Lots of daily specials that require you to google unfamiliar words. The scrambles were also excellent. Highly recommend the food, but not the wait.

The outdoor seating is nice and dog friendly. I loved the heat lamps to make it feel cozy. The food was amazing and delicious. Very flavorful. The service was beyond amazing. I will be returning in the future.

It took about 15 minutes to be seated, and parking was a bit of a challenge but eating at Sam's gave the nostalgic feelings of being in my great aunts backyard while her and my gramma enjoyed coffee at the kitchen table. The food was homemade, humble but made with flare.

Can dogs sit on the patio? -- further exploration of the website showed us the answer: YES, "well behaved friendly dogs" can. Ours qualified. And did.

There was a dog on the patio the last time we were there though I am not certain of the rules.

    Is this restaurant wheelchair-friendly?

The path from the sidewalk to the seating is I think wide enough? The bathroom is large enough for wheel chair. The first 2/3 of the seating area would work best for wheelchair. All tables and chairs are moveable so that part is ok.

Most recently I finally was able to give them a try. So glad we did! We came around lunch time and sat at a booth. There were other worker bees grabbing a quick lunch. The service was quick, efficient and friendly, and we ordered the French onion soup to start, and split the fried chicken sandwich and Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The sandwiches come with a side, so one plate we did fries with a house-made aioli and the other plate, their quinoa kale salad. Delicious. Such hearty portions! The bread is so fresh, the meat juicy and ample, and flavors just right. We also ordered beer on tap, shoutout to Oakland United, and tried their house-made hot sauce that they also sell by the bottle. Would love to come back to try brunch here too. I also saw a patron ordering the quinoa kale salad with fried chicken, and yes, that's the vibe! Pricing is fair for the quality and quantity, and street parking available (although the restaurant is located at the bottom of Solano where it tends to be a bit more busy). Women-owned biz, and they also were on Check Please! Bay Area.

Do note: Canelé -- available Friday to Sunday Pastel de nata (Portuguese tarts) -- available Saturday & Sunday What I've tried: Croissant -- Yum, yum, yum! From end to end, it has that perfectly crunchy exterior, and not a hollow bite in sight. Every bite is flaky, buttery, and satisfying. Chocolate Croissant -- A must if you love chocolate. Rich, flaky, and indulgent. Almond Croissant -- Another delicious contender. Nutty, sweet, and absolutely worth it. Apricot Croissant -- Not bad at all. The apricot adds a nice touch without overpowering the pastry. Bostock -- This one was a miss for me. It looked beautiful, but it was missing that little finesse that makes you want another bite. Gâteau au Fromage (Basque Cheesecake) -- A bit pricey, but so worth the splurge because they really know how to nail it. One bite and you won't be able to stop until it's gone. Pastel de Nata -- Crispy edges with a delicate, creamy, and delicious filling. That crunch is everything. Canelé -- These babies sell fast, so make sure to get there when they open. I love the crunchy exterior paired with that soft, custardy inside. Yum, yum, yum! Chocolate Fondant -- Not bad, but not my favorite. I've definitely had better elsewhere. Chocolate Hazelnut Cake -- The flavor was nice, but I found this one just a tad dry. Bottom line: While not everything was a home run, their croissants, canelés, Basque cheesecake, and pastel de nata are absolutely worth coming back for. A hidden gem that delivers big on flavor without the long drive. Definitely worth the visit!

The workers and the owner were all very kind and welcoming. I got there a little after they opened in the morning. As for the food, I ordered the kimchi fried rice along with the chicken and croffle. The fried chicken tasted a bit interesting. I'm not sure if the frying temperature was off or if it had something to do with the condition of the oil, but the texture of the breading wasn't quite right. I used to work at a fried chicken shop in Korea, so it was a texture I recognized--the coating was fully cooked and wasn't necessarily soggy, but there was no real crunch. Instead of being crispy, the breading was soft and kind of gave way when you bit into it. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue eating it. I'd give the chicken a 2/5. As for the kimchi fried rice, I liked the addition of cilantro and beets, which gave it a refreshing touch. My only issue was that the kimchi itself was way too sour for kimchi fried rice. I don't mind fermented or sour kimchi, but in this case, the sourness overpowered the rest of the dish. Overall, the cafe itself is cute and the people working there were genuinely very kind. I just wish the food had been a little better, especially the fried chicken. Will be back next time to try out the coffee!! It is a cafe after all.
