Suuchh a tasty sandwich, good latte too, sweet waiters, good service, and love the outdoor cabin vibe.

The food had me at hello! (see my original review). I brought my elderly mom back on a cold morning. I reassured her that we would be ok because they have heat lamps. I signed our name on the waitlist and we stood near the entrance to waiting for a server to see us and get us seated. (this is their procedure). I made eye contact with two servers and neither one acknowledged us (.."be right with you", no smile, nod, nothing) We waited a few more minutes and I stepped into the patio only to see one of the servers who saw us taking a photo of some diners with no regard for us standing in the cold waiting to be seated. So we left. I won't stand for inconsiderate treatment. Being ignored is unacceptable.

The ultimate question is: would I come back? YES, I would! The raspberry almond pancake was perfectly sweetened and paired beautifully with my latte (which was YUM). The side of veggies w/ herbed potatoes was mixed nicely with my side of avocado and scrambled egg. I'll look forward to coming back to try their scones:)

Luckily, we were able to beat the weekend crowd and try this place during the weekday. The check-in desk was on the side of the building which we wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the stranger seeing us attempting to go inside with a stroller. Outdoor is spacious and perfect for the nice weather lately. There's also plenty of shade and some tables in the sun, if that's your preference. They have a self serve station for water and coffee. Don't forget to check out their daily specials board too! The ingredients are fresh and the food quality is there. Some flavor was missing, though. The biscuit was notl toasted which was a bummer and came off as lazy. No butter was served neither on it or on the side. The grits tasted more like oatmeal, it was too chunky than most. The chilaquiles was amazing, esp with the side guac. The chips remained crispy even though they were tossed in some red sauce. The farm roasties had a medley of veggies that were earthy and sweet. The French toast was cool. The scone was good, but I wish they had warmed it up a little. I see why people love this place - the quality is great esp for the prices. More seasoning or flavor profile would get me back here sooner than later.

The outdoor seating is nice and dog friendly. I loved the heat lamps to make it feel cozy. The food was amazing and delicious. Very flavorful. The service was beyond amazing. I will be returning in the future.

Best corn beef hash ever. Large juicy chunks of corn beef that are so tender. This is not the pasty dogfood version of corn beef hash. Wow. Really impressed. Wait here is not fun but the outdoor space with abundant heat lamps is worthwhile. Hate to say it, but of the 5-6 brunch spots in the wider area, this has to be our favorite. Coffee is solid. Pancakes are very fluffy with just the right amount of texture. Lots of daily specials that require you to google unfamiliar words. The scrambles were also excellent. Highly recommend the food, but not the wait.

It took about 15 minutes to be seated, and parking was a bit of a challenge but eating at Sam's gave the nostalgic feelings of being in my great aunts backyard while her and my gramma enjoyed coffee at the kitchen table. The food was homemade, humble but made with flare.

An Albany institution that I just learned about. Seated within 10 minutes on a Friday morning, but seems like it would often be a longer wait. Sign in, wait for a host/ess to call your name and get seated, but your entire party must be there. Behind the log cabin front are indoor tables and a very pleasant outdoor area with mostly covered, spread out tables. I wanted French toast for breakfast and got their unique cinnamon currant version. It came with powdered sugar and strawberry slices on top, plus butter and syrup on the side, which you didn't need because it was already so sweet. It was good and the currants meshed well, but I'd like to try their sourdough version or some other things on the menu next time. Also, got a side of bacon that was good. Also also, the server was very nice.

We have not been to Sam's since before COVID and thought we would try it out again. Upon arriving we found out that they don't seat you inside any longer but have an open patio in the rear with lots of seating and heaters to keep you warm. They also bring your first cup of joe if so desired and you must go to the service counter setup with creamer, sweeteners and more coffee to be refilled at your leisure. The menu hasn't changed much and they are well known for their daily scones which are pretty tasty. I had the homemade corned beef hash and eggs and my wife had the scone (of course) and the home fries potatoes with the pork gravy. Our server was on point checking in and providing us with our check. The back is super cute with nice decorations and pretty flowers. This spot is always busy on Saturday and Sunday so get there early.

This traditional diner had reviews that made it seem one of a kind, but overall, the food was mediocre. Flavors were good tho! The staff are very kind and welcoming, which is a plus. There are no real complaints about this place; however, I wouldn't recommend making more than a 10-minute trip for a meal here.

In the small town of Albany, Sam's Log Cabin is a favored brunch destination. Living within walking distance my entire life, I'm still embarrassed to say this is my first visit--and not my last! Most are familiar with the vintage log cabin exterior. Don't enter inside (only for take-out), instead put your name down for their outdoor patio seating. You're greeted with the smell of home-style cooking and friendly attentive service. Drinks and condiments are self-serve, and food comes out quickly. The Lake Trout and Eggs had my name on it; I opted for eggs over easy. The trout was mild and firm, I enjoyed the sweet and savory balance of the hash, and the eggs were well-cooked. My companion had the Daily Scramble which he liked. It was chorizo, broccolini, and mozzarella but specials rotate daily. We agreed our dishes were well seasoned and very filling. I'm a huge supporter of the sustainable, locally sourced, and organic ingredients used to make our meals. If you're looking for a home-style breakfast or lunch with unique charm, Sam's Log Cabin is a great spot in the East Bay. The restaurant is on San Pablo with street and neighborhood parking. With how close I live to it, it'll be on my brunch rotation!

Now for the best and final eatery of our Bay Area trip, Sam's Log Cabin in Albany @samslogcabin I have a feeling most Albanians walk here because it's walkable and the town is adorable. Make sure to swerve around the roaming wild turkeys as you walk, enjoy or add to the gratitude tree in a resident's yard, and pay the pet toll of a friendly, light caramel Tabby with very long legs. We sat inside to eat when visiting before the year 2020, back when we were young and ran/walked the @baytobreakers in costume with my sis Returning in 2024, we've discovered it's outside seating only, but so very pleasant in a relaxed and cozy backyard feel. There's a coffee and hot sauce bar for customers to use if they prefer. Our waitress turned on a heat lamp near us, just in case we needed it. Restrooms are inside. I passed by the famous scones on the way in. These live up to their hype. I'm in love. Usually a scone is too dry for me. These were moist and bursting with fresh blueberries and lemon. We ordered: - Lake Trout and Eggs x2 Lake Trout with Orange Flannel Hash, Eggs Any Style and Acme Toast - Grits And Eggs Organic Grits With Butter And Pecorino Romano Cheese, Two Eggs Any Style - ADD MEAT TO ANY BREAKFAST Chicken Apple Sausage - Yams n' Eggs Roasted Yams and Two Organic Eggs with Spicy Sriracha Butter and Arugula - Blueberry & Lemon Scone I'm going to be dreaming of the perfectly cooked Lake Trout and two poached eggs dish with that amazing hash and the thick @acmebreadberkeley Sourdough slice for many years to come. We need a return trip soon just for this brunch with my sister.

Can dogs sit on the patio? -- further exploration of the website showed us the answer: YES, "well behaved friendly dogs" can. Ours qualified. And did.

There was a dog on the patio the last time we were there though I am not certain of the rules.

    Is this restaurant wheelchair-friendly?

The path from the sidewalk to the seating is I think wide enough? The bathroom is large enough for wheel chair. The first 2/3 of the seating area would work best for wheelchair. All tables and chairs are moveable so that part is ok.

The sandwiches come with a side, so one plate we did fries with a house-made aioli and the other plate, their quinoa kale salad. Delicious. Such hearty portions! The bread is so fresh, the meat juicy and ample, and flavors just right. We also ordered beer on tap, shoutout to Oakland United, and tried their house-made hot sauce that they also sell by the bottle. Would love to come back to try brunch here too. I also saw a patron ordering the quinoa kale salad with fried chicken, and yes, that's the vibe! Pricing is fair for the quality and quantity, and street parking available (although the restaurant is located at the bottom of Solano where it tends to be a bit more busy). Unfortunately the food was just as bad and overpriced as the first time, I really don't understand how this place is so well reviewed. We both ordered 310 Burgers, one on the regular brioche bun and one on a lettuce wrap. The lettuce wrap came in two steamed, wilted pieces of iceberg, while the brioche bun was untoasted, foamy-textured and soggy. Both medium burgers had the consistency of boiled meatballs. The bacon jam was decent, but the overall experience was wildly unappetizing. We also both got plain fries, which were somehow greasy and dry at the same time, and instantly turned stale as they cooled down. We really hoped for this place because it's conveniently located, and all the other decent burger spots nearby have closed, but sadly we won't be giving 310 Eatery a third try.

Their menu showed items like waffles and croissant French toast, which sounded really promising. I decided to try the croissant French toast and really wanted to like it. The croissant itself had potential, but the egg mixture was very heavy and lacked some of the warm flavors you typically expect in French toast, like cinnamon or vanilla. Even with the berries and syrup, it still leaned very egg-forward. I also ordered a side of bacon for some extra protein, and that was actually cooked really well. For drinks, I tried the strawberry latte with the vanilla bean soft top. I initially expected more of a coffee-forward drink, but it was much sweeter and reminded me more of an elevated strawberry milk. The space itself is cute and gives more of a social, aesthetic hangout vibe than a traditional brunch spot. Parking can also be a bit tricky. There's free parking in the Trader Joe's garage nearby, but it's unclear whether parking there while dining at the café is allowed. Overall, I liked the concept and atmosphere more than the actual food during this visit.
