Needed to kill some time and stumbled across this little cafe. So glad I did, first off, the service? Fantastic. I believe it was the owner or manager who helped me out, and they were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and kind from the moment I walked in. I ordered a chai latte and a breakfast croissant with egg whites, ham, and cheese. After I placed my order, they gave me a number, and I found a quiet little corner table to chill at. Popped in my earbuds, zoned out, and got lost in my own little world, exactly as I needed. When my food was ready, they brought it out to me (another thoughtful touch), and both the croissant sandwich and latte were full of flavor and super satisfying. Thank you, Ruby's Cafe, for the peaceful little escape.

The most lovely morning cafe. I am from out of town and needed to charge my car. It was the best sounding breakfast spot that I could walk to. Super cute spot!! Everything is made to order, so you can make it how you want. Arnold Palmer with homemade lemonade! Yes please!! Barely made it back to the car. I got a sandwich that was on a croissant with chorizo, cheese and eggs. I came home and had to get a car wash from the flakes of croissant that did not make it into my mouth.

Honestly the best coffee and food I found in the area. The coffee is absolutely delicious and the food is always warm and yummy Since the first time I tried this place I have been back almost everyday. The people who work there are also super nice and friendly! 10/10 would recommend

The staff here are super nice and even though they were busy they handed me my order in under 10 minutes which was great since I came during my lunch! So far i've only tried their iced mocha which was good and a side of chorizo I got to add to my lunch bowl and that chorizo is great. I'm excited for come back and try more! I would say the music is a bit too loud for me to want to do work in there but plenty of people didn't seem to mind and had their laptops out. Seems like a great spot to grab a quick bite and coffee with a friend.

Come on over and sandwich my way! I had the veggie half sandwich and it was delicious. Cool and casual inside Ruby's Cafe with outdoor seating in the front. They were quick and friendly. This place is such a positive experience and serves good food.

Sometimes it's good to try something different and a place with some interesting character and characters. I usually get deli sandwiches which have deli meats but this place has fried chicken sandwiches . So I was craving a sandwich so I headed to Crave Subs in Downtown Berkeley next to BART station. They have lots of sandwiches available on the menu. On a Summer stroll getting some sun in Downtown Berkeley I landed at Crave Subs. Inside it's like you stepped into an ice cream parlor with a comic book shop and arcade and a deli all at the same time. You will see sandwiches on the menu called the Pikachu, Ned Flanders, and Bart Simpson. You will see Chewbacca fries along with the Spider-Man fries and the vegan Sailormoon fries. I got the Captain Boom Halal Fried Chicken, Boom Boom Sauce, Cheddar Cheese and Crave Sauce on a roll. It was tasty and a bit crunchy and had lots of flavor. It's one of the best Halal chicken sandwiches I had. If you crave a fried chicken sandwich then Crave Subs is the spot. It will "cost "you an extra 50 cents if you want to "floss" with extra drip "sauce" to show off on social media and during OSL my social media feed was stuck in the" Land of OZ" If you want great fried chicken sandwich you don't need to visit KFC or meet the chicken"commanders" like the late "Colonel Sanders" just get a Captain Boom with "Halal chicken standards" or grab a Pikachu sandwich or a turkey sandwich called the "Ned Flanders "

One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals. If you're ok paying that much for a shrunken sub, more power to you. I l, however, will not be going back there.

We found it very tasty, but paying over $25 for this on DoorDash--certainly not worth the price even though we really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken parm sandwiches were not good. The chicken breast was flabby, and came across like it was one of those frozen cooked Tyson jobs. I would be very surprised if they actually breaded chicken breast, fried it, and made the sandwich with that. It was mushy, and the breading was like paste on the chicken. Pretty awful. They charge extra for sauce, which is a little much, given that we paid $21 for each sandwich. But we figured out pretty quickly why they do this: there was hardly any sauce on the sandwiches. And precious little cheese. We each ate half of our sandwich and figured we doctor the leftovers up the next day with a jar of Rao's and a bag of shredded Italian cheese. That helped, but nothing could save that chicken. The meatballs. We paid $15 for four, and we had high hopes, but they were so mushy that they fell apart in the sauce, and I couldn't tell what was sauce and what was meatballs. The only flavor that came across was fennel. Why any meatball should be so fennel-forward strikes me as bizarre. We got what we thought were pretty basic things, and they were fails. If an Italian place can't make a decent chicken parm sandwich nor a decent meatball, that says something. If you go, try the pinsa.

No sandwich spot ever gave me a pineapple! haha The sandwiches are also very big so you can definitely save the other half for lunch or share it with a friend. I do wish that the bread was toasted and that there was some kind of tasty sauce to go with it. They also charge an extra .75 cents for takeout packaging. But nonetheless I enjoyed it. Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons.
