Our group of five was promptly seated and orders taken in a timely fashion by the friendly servers. Food was delivered quickly on a busy Saturday night. Even the owner, Sam, came by for a visit. I had the Texas Burger. A 1/2 pound, freshly ground burger, served with bacon, grilled onions, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and a special ranch sauce on Texas Toast. A delicious and filling burger. Regular cheese burgers were also fresh and flavorful. Served with your choice of toppings. There is a chicken wrap that is also very good. A pretty large wrap that could be shared. Sides included crispy, house cut fries of house cut, fresh chips. Prices are quite reasonable. Five of us dined for $55 plus tip. We can recommend Sam's for a quick sandwich or pizza. I've been going to Sam's pretty regularly for about a year, and I'm surprised I haven't left a review yet! Don't let the name fool you. While their pizza is amazing, there's so much more on their menu that's worth trying. I usually go for the chicken tender plate (definitely get the tenders covered in wing sauce) with their potato wedges, or the buffalo chicken wrap with their addictive homemade ranch. Also, if you're there don't skip their rotating homemade desserts; their cakes are delicious. I usually grab my food to go, but every time I stop by it's packed. This was my first time to Sam's. My family ate dinner here with another family. Despite the trunk or treat happening on Main, we actually were sat quickly. Our waitress was Haden, and she was great! It was a busy nice, and they've packed everyone into the room. It's a pretty normal looking restaurant on the inside. As far as the food goes, I had an order of garlic parmesan wings, which were really good. My wife had a buffalo chicken sandwich, which was okay. The chicken had a spice to it and was red but it was just missing something. We had some chicken tenders and a plan burger along with fries and onion rings. All of that was decent. There was also a cheese pizza and cheesy breadsticks for the other family. I didn't try any of it, but the kids inhaled it. This local pizza joint offers so much more than pizza! Their wings are amazing, sandwiches are hearty, salad bar is jam packed, oh and the pizza is good too! During our most recent visit, we ordered the Buffalo wings and toast as an appetizer. It had the perfect amount of spicy heat and the wings and toast came out piping hot! My Man ordered the Hamburger Steak; it was juicy and not over done! I ordered the Chicken Wrap. I had them throw it back on the grill after they wrapped it up just to seal in the flavors. This place is very well know in the Cove and stays pretty busy. They have good pizza and the tater wedges are amazing!! Local owners, locals work there so that's a big plus for me. They have a buffet on Tuesday nights a great choice especially with kids. Bathrooms and restaurant is always clean which is hard to find nowadays. I work not far from there and we often place to go orders with them and we've never had an issue. Really nothing special about this place. If you live close, go, but don't drive a ways to visit. Food took forever, and was not that good. Pictures are Teriyaki wings, we also got a sub and pizza. I've been gluten free for almost a year and one of the foods I miss the most is pizza. My family and I stopped in at Sams after a ballgame. I ordered the all meat pizza on gluten free crust. I usually don't expect much, but this was amazing!! It was so crunchy and it had the best flavor. It was just as good when I ate the leftovers 2 days later. Thanks for a great experience. Burger and fries were adequate but their pizza is horrifyingly bad. I don't get it. Making great pizza isn't that hard. I know this because that is what I've resorted to since there isn't an edible pizza to be found in this area. It's a shame that we have to drive 25-30 minutes away to get edible Italian food. I'm leaving 2-stars because my partner grew up here and thinks it's fine lol. Also, if you like country style food, it's probably okay. I don't, so I wouldn't know. I know this is not a fancy tablecloth and fine china place, but I'm giving this a 5 star review because the pizza is so delicious! I am picky about my pizza crust - I don't like thick doughy crusts- and this crust is fabulous!! Thin, but not paper thin- crunchy and chewy at the same time. I visited tonight for dinner and had takeout last week - delicious pizza both times! My husband ordered the Thai chili sauce wings that he enjoyed. Went to this place tonight Thursday 7-23-20 for dinner. I live between Walnut Cove and Madison. There are not many good places around to eat. We have not been to Sam's in a year or two and we saw they had an updated menu so I thought we would try them out again. We got pizza for the kids and I tried a piece. It was ok at best. It reminded me of a frozen pizza. They never really had good pizza in the past. The pizza is a little better than it used to be, but I wouldn't go just for the pizza. I got the Pimento Cheese burger. It was pretty good. The pimento cheese was a little watery, I'm used to the thicker pimento cheese. We got the cheese fries for appetizer, and it was good, cheese and bacon on the fries. Whole family like it. Wife got the Buffalo Chick wrap. She like that, no complaints at all. Over all good place. I would just not order pizza there, which is ironic because it's call Sam's Pizza, LOL. Order something else off the menu. read more

We went last Sunday for lunch & had a terrible experience to the point we have decided we will not go back. We have never said that about any other restaurant before and we travel all over the world but the experience we had last Sunday was the WORST! They brought our appetizer & our main course out at the same time. BOTH WERE COLD. The waitress forgot to bring me my salad & so I told her to just not worry about it since we had already got our appetizer and main course. She still brought it & charged us for it. This place is terrible now since Johnny sold it. When my husband went to pay, the waitress asked how everything was.. I told her that it was the worst experience we had ever had there. Her reply was "Sorry we got busy". I was a waitress for 5 years so I know what it's like to be "busy" I worked at a restaurant that stayed busy from the time we opened until closing time. That was no excuse for our food being cold & receiving all of our food at once. Oh and having to ask multiple times for a refill. Do not waste your money on eating at this restaurant. This place has great service and a nice variety of food choices. Also on Tuesday nights they have a buffet of fries, spaghetti, pizza, buffalo boneless wings and salad which is amazing. If you like good food at a fair price this is a great place to eat! They are open Tuesday thru Sunday and on most days they have there buffet during the morning time from around 10 to 2 and Tuesday night from 5 to 9.
