Had lunch here recently and was surprised that, other than four takeout customers, I was the only customer during the hour and a half I was there. Of course this gave me the advantage of my choice of a any table in the dining room. Further, I got the full attention of the server. But the best was that the chef was able to concentrate on making my order and the Chicken Parmagion sub was excellent. And the French fries were hot and great as well. And the portion size was huge. It took me awhile, but I finished it all. And the server kept my glass full of iced tea. I look forward to going back to try a number of other choices from the menu that made my selection tough. We met here for lunch! Two bites into my Calzone, I jumped up and thanked them for creating a culinary masterpiece! I ordered the Meat Lovers Calzone with an extra side of hot marinara sauce! I love sauce! The pepperoni, sausage, and ham all had individually amazing flavors! The meat was swimming in the ricotta and mozzarella cheese. The bread was toasted enough to be a bit crispy so it did not get soggy! I brought half home and enjoyed it for supper. It heated up perfectly without losing and flavor or crispy texture! I have hesitated ordering here for several years...yep, the reviews were that bad. On a cold and rainy night, I decided to take a leap of faith. I placed my order when I was 24 minutes out, thought about how bad it will be when I arrive home to a hungry family with subpar pizza. As the lids were lifted, I felt a sense of relief, the pizza actually looked good. Everyone settled in at the table, not a word for 5 minutes...that means it was good. I have been to Village Pizza about a dozen times. Only at in once, all the rest take out. If I did this review based on just the taste of the pizza, it would be a 4 star review. The pizza is pretty good, especially for that area. I normally order the Pizza and Garlic Knots. Prices are high. And the size of the pizza has gone down. Their regular large used to be bigger, but price is the same. Disappointing. The pizza is a little greasy, but it still tastes good. Garlic knots are way to greasy. There is literally a pool of grease at the bottom of the garlic knots container. Customer service is somewhat sketchy. There is always a different girl behind the counter. When I go in the employees are always talking, chit chat. And when I go up to the counter I get the feeling like I am interrupting them. It is an odd atmosphere. read more

We've had a difficult time out here finding what we consider edible pizza. When we decided to try Village Pizza I did not have high expectations but in an effort to support our local businesses during the COVID-19 lock downs we crossed our fingers and gave it a whirl. Wow! Was I surprised. It was good pizza, not too cheesy & the crust was nice and crunchy on the outside and chewy in the inside. The toppings were a nice variety and very fresh. Garlic knots were perfect. We like to try a variety of things so some fried zucchini seemed like a good idea. It was also a pleasant surprise. We will be back for sure. I've given this place 2 tries thinking the first baffling experience must have been a fluke. I LOVE leaving good reviews but Village Pizza in Stokesdale leaves me no choice but to warn others. Staff (not all) was rude and cared nothing for us for the second time. Gave us a terrible sandwich with hardly any meat and it sat there doe some time and he never asked us how it was (they knew it wasn't any good). Fix these issues guys...there's a thousand other Italian restaurants we could go and each one I've been to is better than this one (food and service). First time we went it took forever AND they tried to charge us twice. Needs new and caring staff. read more

Recently I ordered the largest pizza they had, only to find out they changed the sizes on me and I got less pizza for the same price as the previous larger pizza. I questioned it, and they could care less. Pizza when done right is still very good, but we have had a couple of duds. We used to order here a lot but the kids don't like it anymore. I have ate there several times - The food is always hot and fresh. The service is great. The cost is average compared to other Italian-like establishments. I have tried a few different items off the menu and not really found one that stands out. The Cheese Steak is probably the best item I've had; although a little dry sometimes. I've had friends tell me that the pizza if excellent and has a real Italian taste; however, I have not ventured down that road yet. First off, this is not a fancy place. It is a place for pizza so don't expect a fancy restaurant. But the food....Very Good! Buffalo Wings.....Excellent. Crispy, perfectly cooked (and freshly cooked) great sauce. Really, the best I have had in the Triad. Pizza. Since there are so many styles and opinions.... Chicago Style, NY Style,..... Personally I like pizza more like NY Style. I really dislike places that precook the pizza and throw a couple of toppings on and put it in the oven to reheat. This pizza was made to order. This pizza was very close to NY Style. Crust was thin, but not too thin. Cooked perfectly, crisp no soggy. They also had real Pizza Ovens! No impingers here. Lots of good sauce and not too much cheese. Pizza should be a blend of crust, sauce and cheese and some places just use too much cheese. This was a good blend. The staff was VERY friendly and I was my usual PITA and asked for things to come out in a certain order. The complied and did an excellent job. This place has gone downhill from what it used to be. The size of the pizza has become an absolute disgrace. A slice from the large pie is slightly larger than an ink pen.....seriously ?? I ordered a large calzone, paid $14.00 for it, and it was mostly air, no ricotta. It used to be the closest thing to a true NY Pizza, no longer the case, it's just not that good anymore. The taste of the pizza is not what it used to either. We're done with this place...Burke St. , Mario's or Elizabeths on Battleground, in Greensboro, is where we will go from now on. read more

I had the misfortune of eating at Village Pizza today at lunch. I had never eaten there before and should have taken note that at 12 noon there were no other cars in the parking lot and no one inside the restaurant. My grandson ordered the lunch pizza special. The quantity was huge, but the crust was burned and crispy. My son ordered the roasted 1/4 chicken special. His chicken was overcooked and dry and had so much rosemary that the flavor of chicken was undetectable. His Zucchini side dish was burned. I ordered the lunch chef salad special. It had a peculiar taste, like frozen lettuce. I actually had a huge lettuce core in my scrimpy salad. I must note that neither my son nor I are fussy eaters. I walked into this place for the first time today and the first thing I saw was a dirty pile of dishes at the sink in the back of the restraunt. I was tempted just to turn around and walk out but I chose to stay and try the food. The food was good but I still couldn't get over how all the boss and cook do is play on their phone they should really be interacting with their customers, but I still can't get over that dirty pile of dishes they should really have somebody washing the dishes during the day to keep that unappealing pile of dishes away. read more
