    Fried chicken

It had been years since we last dined here. We made the drive and happily nothing much has changed and the food remains as great as ever. They had new to us additions of the blue cheese wedge salad and strawberry spinach salad with hot bacon dressing as options instead of a regular tossed salad. We had one of each. I loved the wedge and could've just had that. It was perfect. The warm bacon dressing had a bit too much vinegar but on the salad it evened out. It all comes as part of the meal in waves so you can enjoy each course. The potatoes with hot and crisp. We had chicken, fish and shrimp. I'm so glad we all could share. I had plenty of fish left to take home and make a fish sandwich the next day. You won't go away disappointed or hungry. Great service and very reasonable prices for the amount of food. The interior is the same as it was over 20 years ago. We did get the famous drink and it was chocolatey.

10oz filet mignon, medium rare with a hint of Worcestershire Sauce (12oz and 14oz available) with homemade potato chip fries at Sam's Place

Don't let the facade fool you. I drove two and a half hours out of my way to have dinner at Sam's Place in Blakeslee, OH. This is an old style, local bar, restaurant in a six building blip on the road map, but oh my heavens, the filet mignon is to die for!!! - A MUST STOP FOR A DELICIOUS MEAL! The bar at Sam's Place is cozy, comfortable, warm and welcoming. A dining room is annexed to the bar area. A veggie plate was presented when I sat down. I ordered a spinach salad. It was served with carrots, onions, strawberries, croutons, Blue Cheese crumbles and warm bacon dressing. - DELICIOUS! My entre was a 10oz filet mignon, medium rare, seasoned with a hint of Worcestershire Sauce (12oz and 14oz cuts available) with fresh cut, homemade potato chip fries. - THE FRIES ARE ADDICTIVE and THE STEAK WAS MOUTHWATERING, TENDER AND DELECTIBLE! For desert, I enjoyed a "Mose Hopper" after dinner ice cream cocktail. - PERFECT ENDING TO AN OUTSTANDING MEAL! Specialty salad, entre and two cocktails - total cost with gracious tip: $52.00. You can eat at the bar, in the bar area, or in the adjoining dining room, too! If you love steak, friendly service in a cozy atmosphere, you have to go out of your way to eat at Sam's Place in Blakeslee, Ohio (near Edon). Highly recommend! Five Star dining hidden in a small town. 5-10 minutes off the Ohio Turnpike at exit 2. @altheonly @theroarshow #samsplace #greatsteak #beststeak #greateats #edon #blakeslee #ohio #steakhouse #familyrestaraunt #neighborhoodbar www.samsplaceblakeslee.com

Bill's is very much out in the middle of nowhere land! ;) It's not at all a "fancy" establishment but does what they do VERY well! Bill's has a sweet family feel, with booths and tables scattered about multiple rooms. We ordered multiple steaks, including the XXL porterhouse, ribeye, and filet! Everyone commented on how tasty their steaks were! My filet was perfection! So tender and cooked just how I asked! The sides are basic but delicious! The only thing we didn't care for were the mashed potatoes with gravy. We also had an order of chicken fingers with the brew-city fries, YUM! And a side of the walleye, fried. Also delicious! My ONLY "complaint" and it's not even a complaint, just something I wish was different... they no longer serve bread/rolls! I asked the waitress about this, as we haven't been to Bills in a few years, she said they ended their bread service after the pandemic, to keep costs low. :( Good bread feels like a staple to a steakhouse, but even without it we will most certainly still be back! The drink menu brings great selection! Our cocktail was great as well as a craft beer! We've always had top notch service here! Very kind! Very attentive! Very helpful if you have questions or concerns! They had people constantly checking for clean up needs! Looking for a great, fresh steak experience? (Plus so many other great options!) Give Bill's a try! Enjoy a lovely car-ride with country scenery and a delicious meal, all in one! :)

Shorty's Steakhouse (Garrett, Indiana) - looking for a unique steakhouse, not too far outside Fort…read moreWayne? Shorty's is one of the Salvatori's Restaurant Group offerings that is located on Main Street in Garrett. Head north on 327 to the downtown area. Shorty's is set in a small and older building located on the east side of the road. You will need to park on the street - which isn't an issue in Garrett. As I said... Shorty's is a smaller venue. The building holds about 10 people at the bar and 90 inside dinners. The outdoor patio appears to seat about 50 people. Shorty's is always busy - especially on Friday/Saturday nights. So, make a reservation via their website. The larger side room can hold bigger groups of 8-14 people. Otherwise you are limited to a table of four. Upon entering the restaurant you will quickly encounter the host stand right at the door. There is no real foyer area to wait for your table. You may feel uncomfortably close to a stranger if things are backed up. The bar area is one of the first things you see. Legend has it that this bar was relocated from a Chicago area business who had it installed in around the time the 1893 World's Fair was in Chicago. The bar wood work, design and finishing are gorgeous! Very inviting. The older part of restaurant retains the decor of the old building - attractive dark wood interiors/fixtures, green plaster ceilings and hardwood floors. All are very comfortable and welcoming. The host and service team were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of help to hustle drink orders, refills and follow up. The kitchen is very small. Food orders may take a bit of time when they are busy. So be prepared to relax, enjoy a bar drink, converse and admire the renovations. Shorty's has a decent variety to offer on their smaller food and drink menus. They are more than just steaks. In general, most items are a bit pricey...but probably normal for most area steakhouses. Here is a run down of the food we ordered: -Table Bread: nothing to special; white bread roll with a firm exterior and soft inside with basic butter; tasted like it was freshly baked -House Salad: nice sized salad with a fresh taste and ingredients; several side vegetables and cheese to dress up/accent the salad; the honey mustard dressing tasted familiar - probably not made in house -Crab Cakes: my wife loved her crab cakes; tender, full of crab and seafood tastes; nicely grilled exterior -Prime Rib & Baked Potato: delicious taste, tender and smaller amounts of fat; my medium rare request seemed to be more medium as I didn't see much pink coloring; the real horseradish lacked the usual bold kick that I except. The potato was baked perfectly and accented with the usual dollops of smooth butter and sour cream. Good steakhouse choice. Overall, Shorty's offers good food & drink selections in a unique setting. Remember, Shorty's is a very popular place and fills up quickly. Therefore, plan ahead and make a reservation. Shorty's is definitely worth a trip to Garrett to give them a try.

We will definitely be back.

Interesting place…read more Let me cover the easy aspects first. The staff was very friendly and very gracious. Upscale atmosphere but they didn't turn me away when I wanted to work on my laptop so points for that!!. I didn't go upstairs but it's possible they have a more casual dining atmosphere there. I had the prime rib vegetable soup and didn't send it back but it was not edible. It was quite heavy with grease. It had tons of potential but something went awry there. I also had the black and bleu salad with beef tips. It was quite good but had way too much dressing for me I should have ordered the dressing on the side anyway so that's on me. The flavor was great! The beef tips had a lot of flavor. I asked for them to be rare to medium rare and they came out medium which was fine I guess. If I were ordering a steak and it came out that way I would have had them redo it. But steak tips are hard to get right and get out to the table while still pink. I enjoyed that salad. Overall the food was excellent. Side note: The attire is more geared toward suits and dresses. But the staff treated every guest very well. I'd definitely return. ACS is filling a much needed gap in Auburn's dining options and they're doing a great job.

A variety of veg,, mayonnaise based salads, toppings like croutons and seeds and a variety of dressings were available. I opted for a steak salad. I was 'hangry' and did not take a photo. The salad was large. Same lettuce mix of iceberg with red cabbage and carrot. Half a dozen grape tomatoes, chopped hard boiled egg, a load of shredded cheese and three 'broasted' potato wedges. This is topped with sliced steak, cooked to your preference with a side of salad dressing. Very filling. We paid by scanning a QR code on our reciept, but the waitress can also cash you out if you prefer. She was very bubbly and kept an eye on us checking in a couple of times The restaurant is clean.
