I recently got my roof re-roofed through Sam and co. I obtained approximately five total bids. Although Sam's wasn't the lowest, I felt the most comfortable with them because of the upfront honesty and straight-to-point personality of his wife Laurie. From start to finish, Sam came in to look at the roof. He took his time and was fairly thorough (especially on a really hot day). Told me Laurie would give me a quote once he sent her all the images and such. Laurie gave me the quote and explained it from start to finish, additionally, she answered any question I had and was extremely knowledgeable about the requirements of the city I lived in. She stated how long the project would take from start to finish and they stayed on it. They were really clean and on top of everything. Explained everything and never pressured me to go with them. My wife and I purchased our home in Long Beach about 2 years ago. Ever since, we've naturally spent quite a bit of time working with various contractors and companies in town to repair issues left by the prior owners (there were many). The prior owners of our home left the roof in really bad shape. This caused a ton of boards to rot and our entry eve to be unusable. Furthermore, the prior owner had enlisted the help of a solar company that installed panels incorrectly, causing more potential damage to the home. Simply put, our roof was in terrible shape. Enter Sam and Laurie from Sam's roofing. Not only did they replace ALL of the rotted boards in the area, but they also reconstructed our entire eve at the entrance of our house. Even more, they PERSONALLY contacted our solar company, had individuals come out to remove the incorrect installation, AND reinstall our entire solar system properly AT NO ADDED CHARGE. Did I mention that this ENTIRE process (from start to finish) only took THREE DAYS?!? Oh, and that the final bill was STILL less than a standard reroof from the other companies in the area?! My roof was passed due for getting reroofed. Due to Covid issues I had to post pone getting a new roof. We had some major rains tail end of December 2021. My roof leaked in my kitchen and bedroom. While waiting for Insurance coverage approval Sam's Roofing came out Monday after New Year's Eve weekend with barely a notice. Surveyed the issue and offered temporary coverings until my insurance finalize the claim. Luckily being in California after that storm we didn't have any hard rains that penetrated the damaged areas of my roof. My Homeowners insurance Company ( Bamboo Insurance) ended up denying the claim. Sam came out over a month the ago to look at our roof for an estimate. He said the estimate would be emailed to us. I have called his office several times for the estimate to be emailed to me, there is never a live voice, always an answering machine. No one ever calls me back. I understand they are probably busy due to the recent heavy rains in our area, but come on, at least call your customers back with a time frame for the estimate. I usually prefer to do business with local business owners, but these people have left a bad taste in my mouth. I've had other roofers that are much further away that came by, and gave me an estimate within a week of inspecting my roof. read more

I've put off starting up a Yelp review, but it can be so helpful to read varied reviews. It's very important to get multiple estimates! The first estimate I received upset me because I knew the project manager from ABRC had WAY overshot what needed to be done. I had an issue with only one pipe on my roof, but he said they all needed to be redone, and to bring out a team for a half day would cost $1,300 - ! Of course I have insurance but I don't believe in abusing the system. Then after that proposal was faxed in I called a few other roofing companies. In under 24 hours with Sam's Roofing Company I had an inspection appointment, diagnosis for the specific problem (I had only one flashing pipe to be sealed and to have a cap replaced). Charles came out early and it only cost $100. and it was taken care of quickly. Compare $1,300 of work that mostly didn't need to be done, to isolating the problem and fixing it quickly for $100. Had a New Roof put on by Sam's roofing 12 years ago and it rained pretty hard Wednesday I noticed a yellow stain in my dining room I called Sams Roofing,( I was so happy that he was still in businesss!!!) Thursday and he came out today Firday, he didn"t find anything damaged he did some glueing down just to see if that would help checked the roof I have a 30 year warenty on it that covers the shingles! Sam did an excellent job on my roof. Very cooperative and paid attention to details. He found an A/C vent that was improperly installed and fixed it. We had a situation where we wanted to fumigate after the shingles were removed. Sam worked the schedule perfectly with us to minimize the time the roof was uncovered as we expected rain. He worked extra hard to get the roof done due to the rain coming that night. I pointed out an area where the rain tumbled down to a porch roof and the wood was a grey tone indicating water seepage. Sam went out and got special black paper with a plastic lining to protect that area. Also, his price was better. At the end, the Long Beach roofing inspector showed up to sign off the inspection sheet. He said "Well, I will go up there but I don't expect to find anything. This is Sams Roofing and they have been in the business a long time. His work is excellent!" Makes you think you chose the right guy! read more

We watched Sam's Roofing do a roof for our neighbor. We were impressed that Sam was present and that the workers kept the job site as clean as you can while roofing. We got a card and later called them for a bid. The bid was thorough, but they did not give a hard sales pitch and actually worked up several bids based on differing roof materials. We made a deal and hired them to do the job in late December. We knew weather could be a factor, and in fact we did have rain. Laurie did a great job of re-scheduling and finding a time that worked for everyone. The tear off was quick, and they replaced plywood and some termite damaged wood all in 1 day. They left our house and our neighbors yards clean. After the city inspection, they got to work and did a great job. They are very nice people and its great to do business with a local family. Our job was just before Christmas, and they actually brought in additional help so that they could finish early on the 24th. This was great for us and the neighbors. In fact none of our neighbors had any complaints about the job. Sam's Roofing was on time, friendly, did good work, and charged a fair price for the job they did.
