Had a bunch of people come out and give me estimates for a leak in our nursery. They all sound very knowledgeable and climbed up on the roof to look around. All told me I had to fix the entire area over the nursery and an adjoining area because of the valleys where the roofs came together. Trent came, listened to what I had to say about the leak, looked around inside at where the water damage was and wasn't and told me there was a small area that had a leak and he'd fix that area. He didn't even climb up on the roof. Because he was fixing a much smaller area, his quote was a 1/3 of everyone else's. My wife was especially skeptical but the reviews were good so we gave it a shot. The guys came out to fix it, lifted up the tiles and showed us exactly where the leak was and proceeded to make the repairs. Well, we just had those heavy rains and that was going to be the litmus test. No water no leak! Hopefully this holds up through the rainy season. I wrote this review 3 years ago and never posted it. No leaks at all since then so kudos. Actually called them to check on my parents house a few months back, which had some kind of leak. They came out, took a look and said it wasn't a roof leak. I contacted this place and few other roofing contractors in late December 2022 due to a small leak in our kitchen from all the heavy rain this past winter. Given it was during Holiday season, it was hard to get anyone to come out to our house. This was the first place that was able to come out to inspect the problem. Brian showed up promptly and gave me a decent quote to fix the problem. It took three attempts to fix the problem, but Brian was diligent in getting the problem fixed correctly. He never deviated from original quote either, even though it required extra material and time to fix it. It was a fairly small leak, and could've come from many different parts of the roof, so I don't want to be too critical. Given the age of our roof and potential crazy weather we may have next season, I decided to replace the entire roof. I definitely considered this place as a potential option, but ended up going with another contractor because of the price. If I wasn't so tight on my budget, I might have used this place, but the price was much higher than other three companies I contacted. I can sort of understand the high price because this is an established company that's been around since the 80s. This is the first time I have ever needed to call a roofing company for diagnostic and repair work. We had evidence of a minor leak in our front room after all the rains. Mr. Tom Byer himself came out to take a look at the issue and to provide an estimate. He checked inside and outside, took some photos, and told me what he thought the issue was. He told me that he would have his team review the pictures and provide an estimate. Both Tom and his office staff were completely up front with me every time I talked to them about how busy they were, and how long they thought it would take to, first, get me an estimate; and then to actually do the work, if we decided to use them. And in every case, they were either on time or ahead of their own schedule with their performance. The team that came to do the work was polite, efficient, careful, and did some creative problem-solving when it came to figuring out how to actually access the section of the roof that needed the repair. They confirmed what the issue was, showed me pictures, and had it repaired in an hour. The cost was very reasonable and was exactly what had been estimated. Our experience with Tom Byer Roofing Service (TBRS) was excellent and I am very pleased to give them a top rating. If there was any rating higher than 5-stars, they would get it! We needed a roof, and we had a lot of visible dry rot wood damage on the fascias, but talking with several roofing companies was annoying. Some seemed sloppy. Others came in with a high number but said the sales manager could "work with us," and they wanted to be sure my wife would be home. I'm sure that was so they could pressure us into signing a contract on the spot, which wasn't going to happen. I was frustrated at the expense and the process until I called Tom Byer Roofing Service, whom I found through their excellent reviews on Yelp. When I called for a quote in early March, I told the receptionist that my wife could not be here. She said, "no problem," and set up the appointment anyway. Brian Wolsky, VP, came out. No pressure, no hassle--at all!!! He gave me several pages of referrals, organized by color and type of roof, so I could see actual installations and compare them with the color brochures. Brian didn't give me a quote on the spot; he emailed it later, so there was no sales pressure. His quote was about half the price of the highest one, but he pointed out that could not include the cost for all the wood that would need to be replaced until they could see the old wood after removing the roof. That seemed fair, so I said, "let's do it right away." Brian said thanks, but they wouldn't be able to start for about five months because they had so many orders in their pipeline. Everything in the process was professional and very buttoned-up. The contract was clear and very easy to understand. When we got on the calendar, we had a good idea of when the work could begin. Brian worked with us on a couple of extra requests and he never pushed at all. The TBRS crew members were always friendly, and there was always an experienced, helpful foreman on site, who made sure all my questions were answered and who took care of a couple special issues as they cropped up. They showed me all the bad wood as it was removed so there were no surprises. The site was cleaned every evening. The new roof looks great and the attic is cooler because we took Brian's suggestion and replaced the cooling "whirlybird" turbines with a ridge vent system. I have had Tom Byer Roofing fix a couple of problems in the past, a leak in the roof and some fixing after having our house bagged was for termite control. Both experiences were very positive. We developed a leak by our chimney, so this time I decided to have them redo the entire tile roof which is over 50 years old. They said the tiles still looked good so they removed them, redid the base and put back most of the tiles. It took a little over one week because we had to dance around a little bit of rain, but the roof was sealed before the rain came. Overall they do quality work, they protected the heater in the attic, A/C outside and the contents of the garage with sheeting. They cleaned up everyday. I highly recommend Byer Roofing. read more

Worked with Trent to diagnose a leak under a flat roof at my home after some heavy rain. These guys are honest professionals. Two of their competitors diagnosed the same issues and quoted me for a partial roof replacement.
