If you value your money and your items that need repair, DO NOT take anything to this establishment. The owner is disrespectful, rude and does poor quality work. He does not understand customer service. I am actually shocked he is still in business. I took a LV purse to him because the strap was broken. He assured me he would fix it and that I should return for it in 2 days. When I returned, he had a printed sign on his door that said "I will be right back". A week passed by and he still had not returned. I called multiple times and left multiple voicemail and never heard back from him. When I returned to retrieve my purse, I was disappointed to see the quality of work he did. I pointed out the flaws in his work and after muttering to himself and raising his voice at me, he attempted to fix the work. I kindly asked for a discount because his work did not merit the full price. Instead, he berated me in front of my six year old daughter and said he would call the cops on me if I didn't pay the full price. I hope to never see this man again and hope you take your belongings to another establishment worthy of your money. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! I came to this place because it's close to my house. I called before going and the owner said he works on leather and work boots as well. I brought work boots and I asked him specifically if he can fix the holes in the front and he stated he can. The first picture is an example of the leather he would use. I asked if it would be black because that's the example he showed me. He then said no don't worry I can put a brown leather to be similar to the shoe. The next photo is of the finished shoes. The leather just seemed like it was from a piece of scrap he found in the trash, it has written letters on it. He didn't even cut the leather patch to match the hole. He just cut two rectangle boxes and glued it to the shoe. it was not sanded down to match the shoe, and I told him I was not expecting this quality of work. He was so rude to me and threw the shoes back at me and told me to never come here again, he said I was wasting his time. He then was saying how much work it took to fix the shoes and this is the best it's going to get. I told him if he can please just take the patch off because I was not expecting it to look like this. He was recommended but I'm guessing that the people never used his services ever otherwise I honestly don't think they would have recommended such bad workmanship. My suit case handles broke off (both top and side) and needed them replaced. He said he could do it and do a good job (if this is good, I'd hate to see bad and cheap from him) so I decided to use him. Charged me $80 UPFRONT, wouldn't allow me to pay when I picked up. If I had known how he was planning on repairing the suitcase I would have told him to F off big time - he used a leather strap held on by screws on the side that left no real room to slip my fingers into and the top strap really isn't much better (as you can see from the photos). I'd stay as far away as possible from this shop and the guy that runs it. Not the friendliest person on the planet. Trust me shitty job for allot of $$$$. Overpriced is an understatement. read more

So I have been living in Montebello for a very long time off and on and this is my first visit to this shoe repair shop. Both my parents and I have used other vendors in the city and in surrounding cities and this is the first time the prices have made me walk away. So here is the situation with my wife's shoes she has some high heel platform shoes that lost the platform part of both shoes. So all we need is for him to re-glue and maybe re-staple the shoes and those are his words not mine. The little shop keeper then quoted us $18 for that repair and I was like hell no cause my wife only paid $30 for two pairs in downtown. I was like thanks but no thanks and just walked out. So this guy is just the nastiest guy I've ever dealt with. He left a threatening message on my phone because I was late one day picking up my shoes . He leaves a message he's going to sell my shoes if I don't pick them up. Sam is amazing! I took in favorite pair of old boots for a little shine and polish. I also brought along a belt that was a close match in color. Sam convinced me to replace the entire bottom of the shoe because they were high quality. I'm glad I listened. $75 later I feel like I have a brand new pair of boots and a brand new belt. read more

THE WORST customer service, the most DISGUSTING place of business and SLIMY people I dropped of a pair of patented leather shoes- my dog had ruined one of the straps. I had given VERY clear instructions about how I wanted the entire strap replaced so they would look as close to new as I could have them. Needless to say they BUTCHERED and BANGED AROUND one of my favourite pair of heels! I had only worn these ONCE before my dog got to them, now I'll be bringing them up to Ottawa to have my aunt fix them- I learnt my lesson! Been coming to Sams for about 15 years. Never been dissatisfied with his work! Recently brought in a pair of calf high dr marten boots. The boots were huge at the calf and did not look good at all. I almost sent them back. Well, took them to Sam to work his magic--he altered the boots and improved the look by adding a metal zipper to them. they are now perfection. His prices are fair too! I strongly caution against using this establishment's services. My mom dropped off 3 pairs of shoes. She took the shoes to this place for strap repairs. The owner took the shoes, but did not give her a ticket or any type of receipt. She asked the owner for a pick up date and he said "a week or two." My mom returned to pick up her shoes after two weeks and was told by the owner that they "were gone" and had been "donated" to a church because she did not pick them up fast enough. Mind you, the owner refused to give her a specific time in which to pick them up. I am very doubtful that the shoes were donated to a church. Regardless, this is a sad excuse for a business. The owner failed to give my mom a receipt, failed to provide a specific pick up time, sold her property and then dismissed her when she went to pick up her shoes. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The owner of this place seems to have a pattern of bad customer service. However, I filed the complaint and I am writing this review to warn others of this place. Do not come here unless you want your property taken and not returned to you. So many customers and no reviews? I call this guy "magic shoe man" since I don't know his name. He can just about fix and/or repair any shoes or bags. My family and I have been going to him for over 5 years now and have never been let down.. always happy with the results. He has shaved down some of my high heels so I won't stumble, he has repaired my leather carryall and has put new soles on a few of my faves. Prices are good!! He also sells laces and tons of shoe accessories. It's best to park in the plaza lot behind his building, don't let the security guard from the bank see you park in "her" lot.. she will chase you with a broom. Very hot in here but luckily I can run in, drop off my shoes and run out. He closes at 6P during the week, is open Saturdays until noon or 2p and closed Sundays. read more

I had worn this pair of leather boots so much that they basically turned into suede. They are my favorite pair of designer boots so I brought them in to get resoled not expecting too much (the soles were also pretty hopeless) and walked out with a brand new pair. He resoled them, built the stacked wooden heel back up, somehow turned the suede back into leather, and dyed everything to match perfectly. It was done so well I wondered if he had actually replaced the panel that was sueded with a new panel of leather. $45 on a $600 pair of boots isn't too bad. I'm emptying my purse which is even more hopeless and bringing it to him to fix next! Oh and it's really funny how he repeatedly says "It's a good shop. I fix." read more

Gave this place a try because its literally walking distance from my home and the good reviews here. Took 2 pairs of my sandals (not the high end ones) that were falling apart. He put a new soles on them and it cost $50! I could have just bougth a new pair of shoes for that. For $50 the work should have been much neater, it was kinda sloppy. I can see where the glue and heel part come together. Also my husband was told the shoes would be ready the next day and when he showed up to pick them up, the shop was closed. Sam is super nice and will fix your shoes in a flash. I hate that sometimes I forget that a show needs to be repaired and am only reminded when I need the shoe! But not to worry, Sam is down the street and fixes shoe taps in a flash. He also offers a service that extends the life of your shoe sole. Paid $60 to have the entire soles of my shoes replaced. They look very good. I don't know if that's expensive or not but they look very good and the shoes were polished and cleaned too. Cash only so that makes it a little hard to give the 5 stars but I like the place. If they get the red soles, Im taking my wife's $50 shoes from marsalls and turning them into $900 look a like shoes ;-) The guy is also very nice and kind. I will return. read more

He has fixed my shoes, repaired my handbags and, once --when I came in a complete panic because the strap on my husband's fav. briefcase broke and he was leaving town the next day -- did an amazing on-the-spot repair. I went to this place because of the good reviews, but now I think they must have been from his relatives or something. I took in a pair of dressy sandals that had a strap broken in front. I asked him to repair it, but he insisted it would be better to remove it and use a similar fabric to make a new strap. Also I asked for the shoes to be cleaned because they were those fuzzy leopard material. Well when I picked them up there was a totally different shady of bronze leather strap sewn in place, NOT symmetrical to other shoe! And he charged me $38! WTH! Brought in some Sperry boat shoes to get cleaned and let's just say if you want something done right do it yourself, 35 for a shoe clean no thanks. I thought my new leather boots were ruined after a heavy night of drinking. I came to Sam's Shoe Repair hoping there would be a solution that wouldn't bring me over my budget. To my surprise, he repaired the leather on one shoe with no cost because he was unsatisfied with his color matching. He suggested that I dyed the pair for $40 but that was out of my price range and not worth it to me since I was more content than he was with the results. Reading some of these negative reviews below, has me wondering why no one ever asked him his prices before he took on their work. I drive from Gardena to Montebello to have Sam repair my shoes. Yes, it does seem pricey to have a pair of shoes re-soled on the order of $65 per but not if you have favorite shoes that you simply can't part with due to style and comfort and Sam is a skilled craftsman. The reason I am only giving 4 stars is because on one occasion Sam dyed a tan pair of shoes, a very dark (almost black) brown, rather than the correct medium brown. He tried stripping the dye and applied medium brown but they still came out too dark due to absorbtion of the darker dye but we all experience the occasional brain fart. Otherwise, he has worked miracles with near lost causes. read more

This is my 1st review yay! Lol well im not so excited to make this review but here we go. I took a platform boot to be fixed there. Now this place has been here for years ever since I was born & even my family has gone there to have some things to get repaired. The owner is super nice & any leather work that needs some lovin he will do. Feeling confident that he could fix my boot (entire sole of the boot came off), I came back an hour later to pick up my boot & after a day to let the glue set as he recommended , days after the sole was coming off again.
