An absolutely pleasant sit down restaurant inside Sam's at the top of Snowmass. This is an Italian restaurant and we ordered a salad to share for the table. It was huge! We went here during our ski trip in aspen snowmass. I love how you can take off your ski boots and gear in the changing room and put on a nice pair of slippers. Also the food is so so good. We got the salad and honestly one of the best salads and had really large portions. Views were spectacular of the Colorado mountains in the back. The pastas were really good to. We came here again the day after lol and got one of each. 10/10 read more

Sam's really sets the bar for an on-mountain dining experience. After a morning of skiing, it's such a treat to step into a refined and cozy space. The views are outstanding, of course, and the food is even better. The pastas are freshly made and worth a trip to experience. I enjoyed the cavatelli which came with a mushroom gorgonzola sauce topped with walnuts. I ordered the large which was enough for two people but ate it all anyway. I loved this place so much I made a reservation to return in two days. Insider's Tip: Reservations are available as are walk-ins. First come, first served seating at the bar. read more

I don't understand why the place got a low rating. This is probably one of the most unique places I've been. The view from the restaurant was incredible. The place was amazing with an upscale feeling. To be able to take off the ski boots and wear the comfortable slippers was amazing. What surprised me the most was the food. The food was super delicious with great presentation. The price wasn't bad at all. Honestly if they opened this in nyc, it would be a big hit for the food. Great place to eat and rest on the mountain. The restaurant gives you the feeling at home with many details: designated storage area for helmets and outfits, slippers to wear during lunch. The most famous pizza sold out around 1:30pm every day. The other dishes are also very delicious. read more

I went here with my family for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the food. They have a slipper room where you can take off ski clothes and your boots too. We enjoyed their cocktails, apps, and mains. My daughters (7,9) both enjoyed their meals. I'll book a reservation here again next time I ski snowmass. read more

Gorgeous place, but we had a very rude waiter - Hugo . He kind of ruined our experience. The hostesses were delightful, and the atmosphere was very nice. Classy place with great views! Just be careful which waiter you get. Hugo acted like he didn't have time for us, and we were annoying him. We ordered water, but never got it. I had to ask the hostess for water after waiting 10-15 minutes and not getting anything. We told our waiter that we knew Chef Sean, who worked there. Hugo said there wasn't anyone there by that name. However, we could see him working back in the kitchen. Later, our waiter admitted Sean worked there, but then made fun of him. It was just as hard to get the bill as it was getting everything else. I had to leave right from there to catch a flight back home, so I was getting quite anxious. I did make it, though. I will go back, but I will refuse to sit in Hugo's section. read more

The wife and I came here for lunch on our ski date and we were not disappointed. From the bread to the Tuscan bean soup, to the Brussel sprouts, to the rigatoni, everything was delicious. Was told five minutes for our table and waited 25 mins for our reservation and when I asked if it's ready she goes oh it's been ready! The transformation of Sam's Smokehouse on Snowmass mountain into Italian restaurant Sam's opened this season. The atmosphere is more like high end restaurant with panoramic views of the mountains than the stereotypical on-mountain catering. Nice touches include a locker room with helmet storage and their secret weapon - slippers - highly dangerous insofar as do you risk not wanting to put your boots on after lunch and tough it out or go for comfy at lunch. I was not brave enough to risk it. Drinks include a mixture with some cocktails - I tried a Casa amigos tequila driven cocktail which was Functional. Food was hot, served quickly and tasty after skiing. It seems most of the menu items all include cheese - great for fans of fromage - am ordering headache for others - I would recommend this unreservedly for on-mountain dining at least once in your visit. read more

In general, a nice place with amazing atmosphere at 3000 meters. The pasta with classic was dry but everything else was great.

My favorite restaurant on the mountain and one of my favorites in town. I love coming here for Heidi's chai white russain and the warm ricotta is to die for! Pizza is good too, I love that they serve the pizza with scissors. I always have a phenomenal experience here. read more

It's a high-end Italian Restaurant on the top of the Sam's Knob. Well decorated interiors with gorgeous view of Snowmass Mountain. Fortunately, Aspen stepped back to Orange- Restriction so that we can dine in the The home-made pasta and pizza are top-notch flavored. Cocktails are great as well. You would think they would have a system down pat after the smoke house which had great service. A bit chaotic upon walking in with no Rez. Found a table at the bar yet no one came to clean it off for at least 10 minutes. The. Someone came by took our order removed the dirty plates but never wiped the table. Order came out and I asked for utensils which were never brought so I wandered up to the bar and grabbed my own. The food is tasty-an arugula salad with currants and radish was really fresh.. a pizza of the day came with shears to cut it, and while it was good it was never really warmed up. Luke warm pizza! Cavatelli with mushroom and walnuts was delicious. Seems to have some growing pains. read more

I'm a local. We went to Sam's with some out of town friends i was looking forward to it I ordered the linguine and clam sauce. It was awful. I was hoping for al dente pasta. Instead, it was mushy. The sauce was watery with barely any hints of wine, butter or garlic. A little clam flavor was present. How does an "Italian Restaurant" serve such terrible food? Honestly, it couldn't have been worse. Some of the food, such as the steak and salmon, that others in the party ordered, were good. My takeaway: Don't order Italian here. Go to Il Poggio in the Mall. Food was great, service was great, views are amazing, but...I was there with a party of six so they charged us a 21% service charge/tip and TAXED me on the tip! So it was an extra $8. They're not supposed to collect tax on a tip and I'll bet that extra $8 isn't going to the State. read more

The food is expensive but decent. What's sketchy are the the drink specials, which are generally advertised but only apply to the bar. The sign out front does not specify bar only, so we ordered a shot and a beer apiece at the table we reserved while planning to pay $10 a person. We ended up paying $25 apiece (not including food). When we asked about the extra charge, the waitress was defensive, which makes me think she knew it would be an issue. I'm ok with the price; it just seems like a unnecessarily dishonest way to make more money. It makes ownership seem kind of desperate, and it definitely seems to make the staff feel uncomfortable. Next time we'll stick with Woody's Tavern or Capital Brewing. read more

Most of the other restaurants that the Ski Company operates have good vegan healthy options. Sam's needs to follow suit. read more

We were loyal patrons of Gwynn's High Alpine and were hopeful this would be a worthy replacement. Sadly, it disappoints. The view is spectacular and the pasta perfectly al dente but everything else is...well, lacking. The atmosphere is not fine dining, the Chardonnay turned out to be Chablis, the house glass of Cab I requested with my pasta was a $40 glass of Duckhorn (which I know and love and was surprised to learn the glass I drank was Duckhorn) and the lunch portion of pasta I ordered was full sized. Just, very unfortunately, really not worth it. Better to eat at the base!! read more
