Grand Slam!
First, in 2014, there was the bathroom remodel.
Then in 2015, the French drain around the entire house.
Also in 2015, the renovation of our master bedroom.
Finally, in 2016, the re-do of the dining/living room along with painting the outside of the house.
Paul Samuels Construction hit it out of the park.
Our house is an old pre-1900's farmhouse. It was showing its age. Paul not only set things right, but added touches that we might not have thought of to make it even better.
No doubt, when you're looking for someone who will treat your house as well as their own, Paul Samuels is the contractor you're looking for. Bids, fair and reasonable; workmanship excellent; communication about what is to be done, possible alternatives and timing of various steps in the process made the whole experience great. All information is spelled out with costs. Paul also provides a list of vendors to make looking for faucets, moulding, windows, fireplaces and other products easier.
Paul Samuels crew and sub-contractors are wonderful.
Victor and Rafael did the demolition, installation of new windows, structural support, insulation, sheetrock, painting, etc. Victor in particular can do it all. When I asked him what is his favorite part of a project, he simply smiled and said, 'All of it.' Victor also has a good sense of design and how the finished project will look when complete.
In keeping with the early era feel, we wanted a smooth finish to the sheetrock mudding; no texture on the walls. Charlie and Hal were able to apply a finish to mimic plaster walls of days gone by. True craftsmen.
Rob Weltz was Paul's electrician. Rob has an eye for electrical design to highlight areas that may have artwork, photos or focus on certain furniture pieces as well as providing just the right amount of light to the room. His right hand man, Angel, did a wonderful job, and always with a smile.
We purchased our gas fireplace insert from Buck Stove Factory Outlet in Benicia. Great people to work with, they accommodated our schedule and installed a stove that fits our design.
Milton, of Hardwood Floors by Milton, gave our 70+ years old solid oak floors the look of newly installed hardwood. When I complimented Milton on his work, he said to thank Paul Samuels because Paul only hires good people. And that's the truth.
Having people in house for several weeks can be a bit disconcerting. But by the time the last coat of paint was applied, saying good-bye to these guys who had been like part of the family was hard to do.
The only drawback to our beautiful living room is that it is a distraction. I may be on my way from one part of the house to another, but get side-tracked when going through the newly remodeled living room; I just stand and stare. Couldn't have hoped for anything better. Love it! read more
