That's a little pricey but it's OK to go once in a while because it's so excellent. I recommend the filet mignon and the chicken cause I don't like seafood or sushi or anything like that but other people do and that's fine, but it is very, very good. read more

Fantastic sushi rolls but be warned, the Eureka is insanely spicy. The sushi chef warned us that it was really spicy and I said good because we like spicy but holy crap! That little Thai chili chopped in there is no joke! The flavor was amazing and between the crunchy tempura and chili powder, it actually tasted like flaming hot cheetos. It was delicious despite my mouth being on fire. I wasn't so sure about ordering the Yum Yum roll at first because I've had other rolls with lemon slices and wasn't a fan but the other ingredients sounded so good, I just had to give it a try. So glad I did! The balance of that roll was spot on. The flavors, textures, everything. Just amazing. We'll definitely be back. read more

This used to be my real go to place. My last visit was a disappointment. I can understand price increases but quality issues at the same time were a disappointment. The teppanyaki shoe was a disappointment and the food quality was barely average and disappointing. I spent $350. On our dinners and wondered if Del Taco might be better. For this Mesquite Nevada town, it is pretty great. Nice atmosphere, everyone seems happy, and the food is awesome. Stopped to try this restaurant for lunch while waiting the traffic jam on the way to St. George, Utah. The restaurant was mostly empty but it took so long to get seated. Server didn't seem friendly and was not a pleasant experience service-wise. The decor of the restaurant is decent. We ordered some rolls (salmon, yellowtail and tuna). The sushi/roll cuts were tiny and the fish wasn't spectacular. Too pricy for the quality and the service you get. Strike #2 for Father's Day dinner. We went out Saturday night to avoid the crowds. First restaurant closed early so we came here. They give a whole new meaning to fast food. It took awhile for server to take our order. Then when he brought the soup and salad, they wanted to clear our bowls within 2 minutes. Same thing with main course but they gave us about 10 minutes to eat. It was not crowded and restaurant was open for another 2 hrs. If I want to rush through dinner, I can go to Panda Express for 1/4 the price. read more

Service is HORRIBLE, if the service was better it may make the experience is tad bit better. The older guy server is rude, does not care about you and if you ask for something it's a huge inconvenience for him. Does not provide and straws, spams items on the table, does not offer other options, rolls his eyes, questioned me when I told him I asked for a hand roll and not a roll, EXCUSE me??? Maybe listen and write down my order instead of just looking at me impatiently like i'm bothering you l. Dude get another job if you hate your life. BTW came here two time to check out the vibe and food again, but yes he's still rude and food does not make up for his lack of customer service and poor serving skills. What a beautiful restaurant! I love the entrance, the little bridge and pond, it's a very fun touch. We dined in for lunch, and we were seated quickly, all sorts of different table types, some with benches and fun pillows. They also have hibachi on certain nights which looks like it could be really fun! I ordered a sushi roll, the tempura appetizer and a miso soup. Everything was really fresh and delicious, the sushi roll was very good! Great and quick service, delicious food and lovely interiors, I will definitely be back next time I am in town. read more

We arrived and requested a table in the dining area that was mostly empty. The hostess said she would let us know when a table was available and walked off. We stood there (the only people waiting) for 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes, a man walked up to the hostess station and asked if we had been helped. My wife replied, "kind of, we have been waiting for a table for some time now". The man replied "well if you have been helped already I can't help you". We thought the guy was joking but he was not and left us standing there. We left and I will never go back! read more

This is based on several actual experiences with Samurai 21. The place has been remodeled since we last visited, a lot of the decor is elaborate but the theme doesn't really fit in. The food here is still the best sushi in Mesquite however the portions are still tiny. It's still expensive and the wait times are hit and miss. read more

Great little restaurant with delicious options! We ordered vegetable tempura and then the chicken and steak combination plate with fried rice and chow mein noodles. So much food!! My husband and I should have shared everything! The combo plates come with the traditional salads and soups. Delicious. The bench seating and wood chairs make the restaurant side comfortable when they add all the comfy pillows. The teppanyaki or hibachi section was super excited and they were all clearly having a great time. The staff was very friendly and attentive even on a busy Saturday night. Great service all around. Came into town for a friends birthday and figured we would have hibachi. Found out the place doesn't take reservations, no biggie. We called ahead just to simply ask about how long the wait was and we were told sorry we can't tell you that over the phone. Hmm seems like a lets get you here and when the wait is long, hopefully you will stick around. Interesting trap and great business plan all in one. We got there and were told it would be about a 30-35 minute wait. We stuck around and waited. We get seated and start to order only to then find out they don't have any filet. Love that this isn't mentioned prior to sitting down. Again another great business plan, have you wait all this time and find out no filet as you are ordering. Alrighty regular steak it is. Our order for appetizers was the ahi tuna and some egg rolls, they were good, however the tuna was a pretty small serving overall. Roughly 4 little thin slices for $10. Plate was mostly filled of pickles to make it look like more food. For dinner we order various combinations of steak with shrimp, chicken, or salmon. Meal was pretty good and no concerns there. Service was good, chef was good as well. My major issues were can't tell us ahead of time how long the wait is, as well as on a Saturday night at 7pm or so you have no filet and don't say anything about it. That's not good. read more

Great place to eat in Mesquite. The presentation was fun and entertaining. I ordered the chicken and shrimp and Taku sushi. The Taku was not that great it was pretty rubbery. The chicken and shrimp was delicious and the fried rice was kind of meh and lacked flavor if I had to compare it to the rice I had ad Benihana. We got to sit with a very nice family that was from Utah too so that was nice. I recommend checking this place out when In Mesquite. read more

Took a little spa trip out of Vegas for a mother/daughter getaway; we always stay at the Casablanca. Planned to go to Katherine's one night and Samurai 21 the first night. After reading the recent YELP reviews for Samurai 21, we were a little worried. However, all the spa techs we spoke to during the day recommended the Habachi here. The inside was much nicer than I expected; guests are greeted with an indoor Koi pond and bridge over it. The restrooms are beautiful, the place is clean, at least on the sushi side. Didn't get to see the hibachi side, this trip. Well, once we arrived, we liked the look of their fresh fish...beautiful. Their fish looked A++ in the sushi display. So, we sat down at the sushi bar and so began our Fun Samurai 21 experience!! The server (I think also the manager/owner) stopped by to grab our drink order. We ended up talking with her a having some good laughs. She suggested their sake martini for mom and I had hot sake. It was the normal hot sake and a good size for the price. The Saketini had a wine flavor to it. We watched the sushi chef Sunny at his art, he was into his work and not into our questions but he did quickly warm up to our questions once his station died down. We watched him make a Samurai 21 sashimi platter special. Our mouths were watering at the yellowtail tuna and the white tuna. Oh my! He then made a Samurai 21 roll that looked amazing. We settled in on a roll with lobster tempura & avocado. It was crispy, cooled just enough. It was expertly rolled & sliced. It was tender! Oh so yum! We had to try that yellowtail tuna, so,we had the sashimi, 2 pieces. Served with daikon. It was succulent and beyond fresh. By this time I was impressed by this restaurant. This was beyond sushi experiences I am used to even in Vegas. The only thing I can compare that lobster roll to was the lobster roll that Little Buddha had, before they closed. Last, Sunny suggested the basic California Roll, and we tried it with cream cheese, no cucumber for an allergy. It was rich with the cream cheese, good way to end the meal. We bought Sunny a drink for later, one difference than the Vegas places- no buying the Sushi chef drinks on the line! I was supposed, but respected their professionalism, the manager explained, no cutting off fingers during service! LOL. Anyway, we sat and talked with them for a long time, laughing and telling stories. It was a great time. The funniest part of Mesquite businesses...closing time. "When we are no longer busy." It's a great concept! But arrive by 8pm for dinner so you don't miss this gem Being from Vegas, we have the best restaurants in the world, best chefs, freshest flown in fish. The experience we had was better than at most sushi houses in Vegas. Their sushi rolls are creative and just loved reading the flavor combos. They've really worked hard on making a menu of appetizing rolls. It was hard to pick just a couple, but we were full from 2 rolls and one sashimi each! Bill was $60 including a drink we bought for the chef after work. So really, just $50 for the two of us, including alcohol, the FRESHEST sashimi, delicious rolls, and seriously good hospitality, the kind you find in small towns but not in Vegas. We left very happy...and will be back next time! Hey, maybe even drive up from Vegas for dinner! For these reasons and the fact that there was NOTHING I could find to take a star away, 5 stars. read more
