I'll be honest, when my girlfriend suggested this, I wasn't that excited about it, but agreed because I went along with the group. You make a reservation for the "experience" and I recommend arriving a few minutes prior to get situated, restroom, etc. The host was very informative and patient with us. It took us 59 minutes and 55 seconds, BUT we escaped! We had SO much fun through the whole experience. It was a test of our fortitude and wits. We laughed so much. A group of colleagues and I recently went to the San Antonio Panic Room for a team building event. None of us knew each other and were meeting for the first time (new to the office). We had a group of 10 participants and selected the Prison Break (medium level) experience. I was the first to arrive from my group, and an employee approached me asking if my entire team was ready to start. I told him I believed I was the only one there, so he told me to have everyone scan a QR code and sign a waiver upon entry. I told him I wouldn't know who was with my group but he didn't seem to care and walked away. I didn't see him again until 30 minutes later when he came back out and asked if our group was not ready. I thought this wasn't the right way to deal with a first time customer. As for the experience itself, it was a lot more physically interactive than I was expecting. We started out being handcuffed to a jail cell that we needed to escape from and the activities only became harder from there. For the purpose of team building, it was great at getting us to brainstorm ideas and work together. With that said, I wouldn't call this a "fun" activity and really didn't like the handcuffs... I'd prefer a less hands on experience. All in all, this is good for team building but isn't something I would voluntarily do again. read more

Completely different experience than I had at a different local Escape Room which was amazing! First of all, we had a difficult time finding it for our evening appt. The place was dark and looked abandoned. The host was not friendly at all. It was the first time for my 3 grandsons and hubby. Disappointed not able to take phone in the room for pictures, or that an explanation wasn't given for how close we were to escaping. I had only been to another escape room-type of a place once before with family as part of our staycation a few years back. Today, I was with coworkers for a team event and we split into 2 teams - the group I was with went into Phase III room and the other team went into Cabin Fever. When we were being briefed, I already thought it was interesting that we go in through one door and would be expected to exit out of a different door. Already looked more complex than the other escape room I've been to! My team took some time to get going and was getting stuck at the very first problem. Once we got into the next room, we seemed to have found our rhythm, using the hints just at the right times. We ended up escaping Phase III with 2 minutes to spare and using 4 out of 5 hints. Reserved the Prison Escape to celebrate our friend's birthday. We had an awesome time. The room had great clues - not too easy. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. The only down side was their polaroid camera was broken but the staff was accommodating and offered to take as many pics with our camera as we wanted. ESCAPETHEROOMers visited this location back in August 2019. This location was located a little bit outside of the busy downtown area so there's plenty of parking outside. The lobby is very cute with a Hall of Fame polaroid's photo wall so if you escape, you'll be able to display your victory there. If you ever go, try and see if you can find us! They also have a party room incase you like to do an event there. We attempted their "Prison Break" room which is their hardest room according to their escape percentage. As we entered, we were put into two separate jail cells and handcuffed to the wall. The set design and props used were great and the handcuffs felt so authentic they even left a little red marking as I stretched out to look for clues. One certain prop was also quite "entertaining" in the jail cell. There was one code there that I was a bit confused as to why that was the code to open the door as the amount of numbers needed didn't really match up. We also encountered a code that needed to be use twice which is pretty rare in escape rooms so we suggest that you take note of this unless they change it after, but you should definitely ask this question prior to your game. As we progressed into the story, it was great to see that the set design "developed" with it. The flow was nice, and the puzzles weren't too difficult to interpret but it was definitely more on the linear side. Later on, there was one puzzle that was a bit confusing from a visual aspect which we also couldn't get a direct answer from the game master even after the game on why it was designed that way. It didn't really hinder us from solving the puzzle, but we got the answer from another way of thinking which was interesting. Despite some of the confusing puzzle aspects, this room was definitely fun to play. We did get out with just the two of us with a good amount of time left. Currently, this location has 3 games total and "Phase III: Human Trials" feels like their largest in terms of size. This place is great! I organized a work retreat for 12 folks from 3 different cities, including SA. We did a panic room at their Austin location a couple of years ago so we knew what to expect. There are lots puzzle rooms all over town but I like this one because it's not overly theatrical, trying to scare you or overpriced. This location was a bit hard to find for out of towners only because it's in a strip mall set back just a little bit. Ricardo was our operator and he was great! So patient, friendly, and accommodating. The puzzle room we played was Prison break and I loved how it got everyone involved! It was challenging but fun! Many of the first steps where already opened so we couldn't follow the story and all of us where so confused, after we asked for hands they gave us the solution and toke 35 minutes to open only 3 steps and escape. I have been in many other places which so fun and at least have 10 to 15 puzzles to solve and escape. This room was Worse experience we had. They ruined my daughter 's BD party. We arrived tonight for a 9pm appointment. The guy inside opened the door and said "sorry we don't have any more rooms". We said we had an appointment and he yelled at us, "Are you f******* serious?". Then he closed the door and yelled at us from inside to come in. We came in and after some dialogue figured out we had mistakenly made the reservation for wrong day. Our mistake. He told us to come back next day but honestly none us wanted to come back to be greeted by expletives and rude behavior experienced tonight. It was ok but slightly disappointing. Several things were broken in our room (such as the tv) and the operator had to keep coming into the room to show us the videos that were supposed to be playing and the new clues that popped up- really ruined the whole "locked in a room" experience, if the room wasn't in top shape to be played in why make people spend top dollar on a $25 a ticket to go into it??? Also, the operator forgot to shut and lock some of the modules so we had the answers before even trying to solve anything which took away a lot of fun. In the middle of the experience we all stopped and contemplated just leaving and getting our money back, we pressed forward and it was an "ok" time. I will update my review if I have a better experience next time we try to escape a room. read more

So we did and no one answered the three times we tired to call. We ended up just driving there and we stood inside for approximately 20 minutes with no help, no workers, nothing. My friends and I came with a groupon for 6 people. Priced at $12 per person, which was a very good deal for the experience. We wanted to do an escape room that would be fun for us but not terrifying so we decided on the museum escape room. This was my first escape room experience and I was very impressed with how well and thought out the whole puzzle was. Maybe 20-30 locks and puzzles in the whole room to get through before solving the mystery and getting out. Their attention to detail was amazing when setting up the room. The only weird part is that you can tell it was just a conference room with a bunch of locks, the room could have been decorated better to be more realistic. Overall, my friends and I had a really great time and would definitely come back again to try another escape room here. read more

I had been dying to try an escape room for some time and my friend gifted me with the panic room through groupon. We brought our nephew along since he had also never participated in an escape experience. We got the about 20 minutes early. Our guy, Eddie, was very hospitable and helpful. We were grouped with 3 other people and we tried the Human Trials room. It was really fun! We escaped with 1 second to spare! I was hoping for a more intensive experience, but it was still quite enjoyable. I will definitely visit again and try the prison break room. read more

We went with a group of 6. 3 adults and 3 teens. We have done many other "escape" games. Admitedly I prefer the high tech ones but putting that aside. The groupon price made this one. If i had paid full price i would have been upset. I found this one very frustrating. I can't imagine squeezing 10 people in this room. There were boxes with locks that were labeled do not touch, not part of the game, and fragile contents. Then why were they in the room? The cabin number was a key clue however we never found anything that told us the cabin number for sure (inside the room). The recording that was a clue was so full of static we each had to take turns listening to try and get the whole message and even then we were kind of iffy. When we radioed for a clue it wasn't really a clue as much as it was instructions. read more

I've done many panic rooms before and this one is one of the better ones San Antonio has to offer. My family and I were the first to try the Human Trials room. The story seemed random and the puzzles came off as very disconnected. All the puzzles had to be solved in a certain order but there was nothing to tell you the order so you had to rely on your hints. Due to having to go in order, multiple puzzles couldn't be solved at once so there is no reason to bring a big group because everyone will be standing around for most of the time while a couple of you solve the puzzle. Overall I think the price is too high. $10-15/person would be a more fair price. The best part of this place was actually our guide. She was very nice and funny. Great customer service. We'll stick to the great room escape downtown but this one is not horrible. read more

The staff was helpful but unorganized. There were 7 of us and a group of 4 people was leaving who were drinking beers in the waiting area while another group of 4 was arriving behind us. We were all packed into a little waiting area trying to fill out waivers so social distancing was out the window. Many of the electronic switches and doors didn't work in the room we completed but we weren't informed until after. Also the handheld radio was broken and the volume didn't work so we could barely hear the clues when we asked for help. The only other positive is the clues were challenging which made us to have to think and work together to solve the challenges. For the price paid we would expect a fully functioning escape room. Compared to a few other escape rooms I've been to in the area, I wouldn't recommend this until they reinvest and try to fix the broken items. read more
