We had a group of 9 trying to conquer Area 52. The hosts were very welcoming, and were happy to share some insight on escape room games since most of were 1st timers. The game was started with them giving us general rules. And then the fun started! Once in the room, you watch a short video to give you insight into to what your mission is. Once you've started the game, they were in touch via 2-way radio the whole time. And they made clear that anyone could leave the room at any time, and rejoin at any time...which was cool, since we had some people worried about getting claustrophobic. Nobody had to use that option, btw. The clues were hard to find/decipher at times, but they try to lead you in the right direction over the 2 way radio. Plus, they give a certain allotment of clues that you can ask for. Once you get the jist of it, it gets easier......but nothing is simple. To think that Isaac, the owner, came up with the games on his own, is mind blowing! We came within TWO clues of solving the puzzle and escaping......SO CLOSE!!!!! But, we didn't make it :-( 5 more minutes, and would have. If you're looking for a great time with friends,or a team building experience, I would highly recommend! We'll be back for sure! read more

Came here just to check it out while getting my vehicle tinted. My son and I enjoyed it very much. The lady, who registered us was super nice and explained to us all the things that we need to accomplish in order to escape. It was my first time and I was at a loss but with my son and the three clues that we had, we were able to escaped before the bomb went off. Baiting and false advertising. Found The Exit Game Escape here on Yelp. We decided to book the Area 52 escape room based on the "Jackpot" they advertised on their website which is currently "$620" and is playable as a bonus round after the Area 52 room has been escaped from and you get to solve the bonus room with whatever number of minutes you have left of the hour from the previous room. Got my email receipt, no problem. Checked in, no problem. Guide walked us into the room and explained the rules, no mention of the bonus game. We asked and was told that the bonus game was NOT being played or set up for play. This is baiting and false advertising. It was even on the receipt that this room has bonus play. Also, it is a few more dollars to play this particular room because of the bonus. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but this is false advertising. read more

The Exit Game Escape Room - Winners! - Escape Games Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Our experience at Exit Game will forever make us feel very good about ourselves, but this may not be the case for everyone. Manager Amanda informed us that the rooms are purposely very difficult because they want people to get their money's worth. We get this, because it IS a little frustrating to pay good money for a room only to escape with ease 25 minutes later. The flip side is that this may not be the best place for beginners or casual escapists to visit. The building was very easy to find, with big signage to find the specific door in the two-story strip mall. There was plenty of parking. We visited as walk-ins and were very grateful for the efforts of the staff to get us into two rooms before they closed and we left town. The lobby is really nice with plenty of comfortable places to wait. Both rooms that we did were mostly family friendly and accessible to those who are physically disabled. We say "mostly" family friendly because both rooms were undoubtedly creepy, but there are no jump scares or offensive/over-the-top material. Clues are provided through walkie talkies which is sometimes frustrating because static from other channels is distracting and you can't always understand your game master. It's irksome to be thinking deep thoughts about your next clue, only to hear static and have to discuss whether your game-master is trying to tell you something or if the room next door is just asking for a clue. We escaped both Katherine's Asylum and Zodiac Killer: Legacy. Overall, we recommend both...ish. Katherine's Asylum We want to start by saying that this is a really cool theme. The website seems to indicate that this room is part of a larger story, and we hope that is true. It is SO INCREDIBLE to do rooms that are linked by a common narrative, a la Mystery Room in NOLA. So, we enter a creepy asylum room with dirty everything and dim lighting with thunder and lightning effects out the window. Julie asks once again if something is going to jump out at her, and is once again reassured that nothing will. The production design is relatively simple, but very effective. Lots of cool props to fill the room out. But then there's the puzzle design...? *shrug emoji* We had some huge jumps and very confused moments. Logic leaps got very... let's call it... creative. Items DO GET REUSED which we feel is something every escape room should have to clarify because most use the one-use-and-done system. An example of our frustration without using spoilers: We solved all the things we needed to solve to get all the pieces for a complicated puzzle, then found a clue that, logically, must tell us how to utilize our puzzle solution. Nope. Not at all. That clue had nothing to do with that puzzle. We were told we would utilize that puzzle solution later, which begs the question: Then why am I solving it now? The clue we found was related to something completely unrelated. So maybe it's more fair to say that this room TRIES to use linear puzzle design, but there are detours. Overall, it's worth a whirl. Just put your patient pants on. Your straight jacket pair. Zodiac Killer: Legacy Time for a bit of #humblebrag. In almost all cases, we insist on doing at least two rooms before we review a facility. We got to Exit Game late and were running out of time to do a second room. Amanda offered their Zodiac room, but warned us that it had a four person minimum so our two-person likelihood of success was almost non-existing. We checked our pride at the door and entered in hopes of making it as far as we could. We escaped with almost 7 minutes to spare (BOOM!) but mark our words: It wasn't easy. We were in rare form for this room and only recommend it for experienced escape artists. The production design was once again simple but perfectly effective. Exit Game really knows how to use lighting to their advantage, and we wish more people would utilize this life-hack (change your fluorescent bulbs with some weird color... voila... ambiance.) The puzzle design was much stronger than Katherine's Asylum and we think it manages to use every type of puzzle imaginable. Keep in mind the Zodiac was a serial killer, so if that story will disturb your kids, find another room. Otherwise younger folk can still enjoy this room. As is always frustrating about being Escape Room reviewers, we can't tell you much without ruining your experience, but just know that we highly, HIGHLY recommend this room for advanced escape artists. I had really high hopes for this place, but unfortunately I didn't even get in the building. We had a booking for 12:30pm and there was no one there. No one answered the phone. Apparently this has happened before, and there websites advertises slots during closed hours. I'm hoping they take those time slots off their website so that no one shows up to an empty building like we did. read more

The staff was very nice, atleast the male was. The only problem I had was the pens used in the room were out of ink. There was hints still on the laminated papers from other customers. A lot of the stuff was broken and was hard to determine if it was part of the game or if I was going to break it more. read more

NOTE: this was my 25th Escape Room. Did THE ASYLUM at The Exit Game on 2019-06-20. The room, itself, was decent (see: good for San Antonio but not good for other cities that have an abundance of quality Escape Rooms). They had some interesting props and the different clues. But, in the end, the puzzles consisted almost entirely of moving around in a single room opening a series of locks as opposed to having prop-integrated mechanisms. This would have earned them a 4-star rating in my eyes: room wasn't great (single room; puzzles are all a variety of locks)...but at least the puzzles were internally consistent and made sense. The reason my wife and I are giving them a 2-star rating is primarily for our customer service experience. We purchased $65 worth to do this room on Groupon. However, when we tried using the Groupons we were told that they would not accept Groupons purchased on the same-day. We determined later that this limitation was (indeed) buried in the fine-print. Still, we weren't even aware that there were locations of any type that had this sort of restriction since I've never before seen this type of restriction anywhere else for anything else, whether restaurants, museums, or even other Escape Rooms. Further aggravating was the nonchalant "this is your problem not mine" attitude that we received when we informed them of this issue. Since we were standing at the location with guests at the time, we asked if we could use the Groupons since we were standing right there. We were told no. We ended up paying for the room (again) since we were already there. We were also NOT told that this particular Groupon was ONLY for this particular room at The Exit Game...so we found out later that we have $65 worth of access to a room that we've already done. SUMMARY: -room = OK (especially for San Antonio) -customer service = disappointing -Groupon policies = almost deceptive -recommendation: just go to Komnata Escape instead...which has consistently provided us with both quality Escape Room experiences and customer service. read more

Came here last weekend with a group to try Kathryn's Asylum. We arrived and signed waivers, then were briefed on rules of the game. No phones allowed. We started promptly and after a brief video, our timer began....it was fairly challenging to find the clues and we did not make it out but found the keys to the locks. Clues make sense and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We found the tool we needed to escape witb only 10 seconds left so we ran out of time! If we had had another minute, we would have escaped. Definitely a team building experience but in my opinion, more than 6-7 people makes it harder. We definitely have made plans to come back. We knew the locks had significance! read more

We died. We died trying to escape the Zodiac Killer. I don't want to reveal too much, but we were super bummed out to find out the last part we needed was something that wasn't even puzzle based, but something you had to find through observation. We came in a group of 4 - celebrating Valentine's day through a double date and through an escape room! The owner was super helpful. I did bombard him with calls & emails the previous Sunday evening & Monday morning after I realized I had reserved the wrong date. He fixed the reservation with no issue. When you arrive to the address there are large signs that point you to the second floor where the Exit Game Escape Room is located. There you're briefed on what to expect from participating. As another yelper said, the production quality is great, but isn't as high quality as I've seen in other places. However, the puzzles are as challenging and as fun. I really appreciated (at least in the room we did) that there wasn't a person present. I find it annoying when there's a staff member just standing in the corner observing that you don't break anything. At Exit Game Escape Room, we could ask for clues that were portrayed on a mounted tv screen. Overall, I do recommend this for anybody looking to have fun with your compadres. The only thing keeping me from coming sooner would probably be the cost. read more

If the insane asylum is in SA, why are all the patients from around the world? 4. Music is annoying. Find a different song to loop. I get that it is probably supposed to be annoying but still. Walls are so thin, you can't hear instructions from the TV over your neighboring parties. Lots of broken materials/props/clues in the room itself. Trapped doors accidentally being accessible because of being broken/operational issues. I understand parties come in there and can ruin things.. but it makes it less enjoyable when you spend nearly $200 for a half made escape room. Staff was nice and able to give good instructions. This is inexcusable for such an expensive attraction and a mistake that could've been avoided by just taking five minutes to check the locks before the party arrives. My friends and I had a blast at Exit Game! We completed the Asylum Room, and it was super challenging, but so much fun! We were teamed up with another family, and everyone got along and worked together well. Pros: 1. Rules and procedures were clearly explained. 2. The challenge really got us using our problem solving skills! Get ready to THINK! 3. Price was cheaper than other escape rooms. 4. The storyline for the room was neat. 5. Naomi, God love her, was AMAZING!! She was so helpful and knowledgable, answered all of our ridiculous questions, and really wanted to help us succeed! Cons: 1. I wish that the clues built upon each other; with so many people, I think more team building would've occurred if there was a specific order we had to work in. It was extremely frustrating trying to solve multiple clues at one time because with all the locks/codes/numbers, we were really confusing ourselves. (Yes, I agree that was part of the challenge, but everything was really scrambled and it was so easy to get terribly off-track!) With all of that said, everyone in my group already wants to come back to do another room! Overall the exit room was both extremely well done and lacking. The room itsself was very bare. Everyone in our group had done various escape rooms in various cities and this was by far the most spare room with very little theming. It's basically just a large plain room. The puzzles however were very well done and thought out. They used many different types of puzzles, locks, and game elements. We had 8 people in the room and were not able to solve everything. There was enough to do that everyone had something to do and still keep the story line linear. Overall it was a very good room that was both fun and challenging. The staff was also great, the facility was well lit, and the building was clean. If your in San Antonio I highly recommend. We will be back to try the other rooms soon. read more

Super fun exciting outting! Great pricing here compared to everywhere else we've done and the rooms are very hands on! The riddles were not just a bunch of locks but actual puzzles!!! We also liked that the puzzles were very linear so you didn't get lost or confused. The gamers stayed on track with us pretty well which makes keeping up with the clock really easy! This was my first escape room and I loved it! The owner is really passionate about his business and the customer experience and it really shows. The business is tucked away on the second floor of a shopping center so it was a little tricky to find but once we parked we had no problems finding exactly where we needed to go. I tried the room with four others. Three people had done rooms before but it was the first escape room experience for two of us and it was awesome. When we arrived we were seated and explained the rules. Going into the room itself I had a little bit of claustrophobia but it was so exciting working through the room and figuring out the puzzles and discovering the steps. We didn't make it out in an hour but I'm looking forward to a return trip to be able to solve the room and make it out in time! read more

I had an all-around fantastic first experience with escape rooms at the Exit Game tonight. The owner is a psychologist analyst and his passion and expertise made the room extremely well curated. He spent the time to talk to me one-on-one both before and after the one hour in the room and I appreciated his attentive customer service. The room was challenging and had a cohesive story. One hour was the perfect amount of allotted time, as we just barely failed to escape and it kept us engaged the whole time. What an awesome experience. We did the asylum room. We went with a group of 8 and we were celebrating 2 of their birthdays. The owner is super passionate about his business and gave a great explanation on why he decided to open an escape room. We have done other escape rooms but this was the best one yet. We really appreciated the a/c in the room. It was definitely challenging but with great teamwork we were able to escape with time to spare. They have 2 other rooms, one is a head to head room where you compete against another team trying to solve identical rooms to see who can do it first. We are escape room operators and self proclaimed escape room "enthusiasts". While in San Antonio on our family vacation we visited Exit Escape Room. Great experience from beginning to end. Staff was upbeat and welcoming. Room was challenging and unlike some this room "flowed well". Puzzles were well though out. Our teenage daughters were able to be very much involved in the escape process so quality family bonding time was achieved! Definitely worth the visit - go check them out. read more

Steer clear of this business. Website does not accommodate for COVID spacing and shows 10 spots available when really it is only for one group. They double booked us and then refused to give a refund for our additional parties. Isaac and Chasity were the worst representation of customer service that I have ever ran into and even though we were first to book for a time, they accommodated that time slot for a larger group. In addition, they would not answer their phones prior to 3 pm and did not respond to their voicemails or contact emails on website. Better Business Bureau is my next stop. read more
