best bang for the buck. not the prettiest facility, but it gets the job done. really hope this place stays open past summer.

Since my last review in 2023, there was plans on closing this spot, but that date keeps getting pushed, and this spot is going to remain open for the time being. Being so close to my house, this should be a no-brainer for me to come more often, but the quality of the range looks like it's about a close, and honestly I rather play than practice. The putting and chipping green areas are not even worth putting on. Can't get much practice in because the greens are so bumpy and showing its age. I hate hitting off driving range mats, so I decided to pay an additional fee of $5 to use the grass hitting area. Medium bucket is $13. I wish I would've looked at the area before paying the fee, because it was torn up and full of divots. The ground is uneven and either they don't rotate the spots enough or it's probably because the majority of folks who hit on grass here don't know the proper etiquette of practicing off a grass range. Either way, not worth it IMO. It's a range that I'll go to if I want to get a few shots up, but honestly I'd rather drive further for something of better quality. read more

Amazing place to practice! The mats are in pretty good condition. There are a few that could use some updating, but most are solid. There are plenty of stalls and it's rarely crowded, which makes it easy to get in a relaxed session. Plus, 144 balls for $17 is a great deal. The only downside is the putting area. It's not well maintained and tends to be pretty bumpy. Other than that, it's a great spot to work on your game. read more

As of August 2025, the sign says they are closing in summer of 2026. This sign has been changing ever since ~2021. I guess they are still alive. The place is pretty run down from what it used to be, maybe because they keep expecting to close down. The cloths between the stalls are all torn, so watch out for those hosel rockets. There's two small practice greens in OK shape and a grass area to hit from for an extra $5. Parking is plenty, though lots of buses are starting to take over the lot. There's a few flag targets, but no yardage markers. I wouldn't trust the plaque on the stalls, it doesn't seem right. All in all, a quiet place to hit balls with plenty of stalls to spread apart from one another. They open early and close later than most ranges in the area. It's a good place to take the kids on Saturday mornings since there's plenty of stalls. Even though this range and Mariners in Foster City are owned by the same company, their range cards are not compatible with each other. read more

This place has a lot of potential but desperately needs maintenance. As it stands it's 2.5 at best really, and most of those stars are for having a grass range. They were slated to close in October 2023, but as of June 2024 I saw a sign that says they'll stay "open until at least October 2024". The main range area is passable - mat quality is inconsistent but there are enough decent ones. The short game area is unusable, with holes across the green and surrounding areas. Grateful to have a grass range but like the rest of the range it is in pretty poor shape (see pic) and even placing tees is difficult. Grass range costs an extra $5/person as well. Hopefully they can fix their maintenance woes because it really does have a lot of potential to be the best practice area in the SF area. read more

This place is great if you have low expectations. You can hit off grass for an extra $5 and the grass area is available all day. The ground won't be perfect, just like the rough you normally play out of. If you want to practice chipping and putting on real course conditions, go to mariners point and pay $7. If all you want is to hit a bucket off a mat, or get some practice hitting off grass under imperfect conditions, your expectations are at the right level. Who knows when this place will actually close. In the meantime, it is great for what it is. read more

Kind of hard to find it at night since there are no lights or signs posted. Once you get to the lower lot, you have to keep going towards the right and there is more parking. Go to the pro shop to purchase a bucket size from small, medium or large. The large bucket at $17 has 144 balls which seems like a better value than small/medium. First time here on a Monday afternoon. Pay for balls in the clubhouse and take the ticket to the ball machine. There's a big parking lot and about 20-30 bays. I didn't see a practice putting green but there might be one around the corner. Driving range faces the side of the hill with the cemetery on either side, so it's quite quiet. Ball prices are fair. Only wish they stayed open later; open til 730 even though the sign posted says 7pm. read more

We have been going here for years and are sad to see it developed into something else. It is easy to park and find a stall. It is a little dry during the day, but beautiful in the evening. There is a lot less glare here during sunset than at other ranges I've hit balls at in area. I've come here a few times and I really like it. There are 2 floors of stalls and I always stay on the 2nd floor because it's not covered and I get to feel the sun on me. The 1st floor is shady and cooler if you want to get away from the heat on a sunny day. The rates for golf balls are pretty good: $15 cash for a large basket which has 150 balls. The grass in the field is mostly dead and brown. It doesn't matter that much to me. I'm having fun trying to hit the balls as far as I can. I would have given this a two or three star because I like going here out of convenience. I accidentally left a wedge in the chipping area and when I called to see if someone turned it in the customer service was poor. A man in his probably late teens or early twenties answered the phone and didn't quite understand the concern and panic one gets when misplacing a club. This was 100% my fault but when I asked if he or someone else could go look to see if it was there or turned in he said maintenance would check in the morning for it. I drove back to do my due diligence and the young man didn't seem to care. He sat in his chair eating Cheetos but did hand out a token "sorry". I know I sound disgruntled but show a little enthusiasm! I guess you can't really expect much...I miss the old Burlingame Practice Center. read more

A no frills type driving range. This place isn't the best but it will serve its purpose A good amount of mats need to be changed out due to wear. Dividers between booth needs some attention and repaired. The "grass" on the range pretty much doesn't exist. Due to the lack of grass, when the wind picks up, it'll bring up a good amount of dust Get yourself a range card if you plan to play. Save yourself some money and spend it elsewhere or just buy more buckets. The more you load up on the card, the more "bonus credit" you'll get. Never had an issue with parking here. Always plenty and everyone knows how to park and doesn't take 2 spots There is always a decent/good driving booth empty each time I come. Decided to bring my younger brother and little cousin to hit some balls, and got harassed. Checking into the store, bought two yellow buckets for two grass stalls to hit from, I stated there's three of us and the first guy said two stalls will be fine. About an hour into hitting a different man was yelling at us from the office through a loud speaker that we need yellow buckets, I lift up both yellow buckets to show and he stopped yelling. Mind you, we weren't bothering anyone, we were all the way on the last stalls out of the way. Upon returning the buckets the man continued to yell that I owe them $5 because there were three of us and mentioned people complain, although he clarified no one complained about us. We will not be returning here even though I've golfed here since I was a child. I'm sure it was out of his ordinary being brown folks golfing, but should come and talk to us before assuming we shouldn't be there and harassing us infront of a full range. read more

Much enjoyed our first experience at the driving range. We were going to rent golf clubs since we don't really golf but they said they didn't have any more because people didn't return them. Had to pick up a couple clubs from Goodwill. Got a large bucket of 144 balls for $16 which was very reasonable and enough for my wife and I to split. I'm honestly not really sure why this place was so crowded considering how poor my experience was here. This place has a lot of stalls: they have 2 stories of stalls with mats and around 10 grass stalls. We wanted to play in the grass, which was $5 extra, but when we went out to the stalls the grass was super dead and there were too many divets in it. They should move the stalls around more often so that players can play on nicer grass, especially when they're paying $5 extra for it. Another thing that stood out to me was the range itself. It didn't have any grass, which is fine on its own, but it also means that when it's windy a lot of dust flies around. We were hit by dust multiple times while we were playing. Another (minor) thing about the range that bothered me is that it doesn't have any distance markers. The last thing that I found really odd here was that they ask for collateral when you buy a bucket of balls. The collateral was literally for returning the basket, which no one really takes home at most they just leave them in their stalls. They were also SUPER strict about only accepting keys as collateral. My friend and I didn't have keys on us, and we asked if we could give glasses, a card, or anything else and they said no (again, this is collateral for a cheap basket). Honestly, I think they were literally not going to let us get balls; luckily another friend of ours who showed up later had keys. It felt really odd to me that they were willing to turn away PAYING customers because they couldn't produce keys as a collateral for a cheap golf ball basket. Anyway, I probably won't be coming back here, even if that means traveling further to a different driving range. read more

It was the early 90s, and my job with the Feds--where management were weekend golfers. Hence, I had to learn...and between the driving range in the city off 3rd street when it was a really dumpy area before the new Giants ball park infused capital, cash, and high-rise residential towers; and this place by the Veterans' cemetery in San Bruno, is this driving range where I "tried" to learn how to hit a little white ball. Anyway, it didn't take....and so, 27 years later, when I stopped by here again for the first time since; I really enjoyed it. Especially the putting and ground level driving range. It might just be me, but I feel weird hitting off the second floor upper deck. Very nice and fun pro shop where you can pick up ball markers that say "hit it, you ass", and golf hats, etc accessories wise. read more

These are some of the questions I ask myself when I'm here. Overall, it's a good place to work on your swing. Cons: -- It gets so crowded that you'll have to go to the second deck, and it gets really windy on the second deck. -- The idiots who honk their horn as they drive by to try to distract you. Might need start looking elsewhere. Range is ok but good luck figuring out ur distance. Be nice if they take the $ they get from range and reinvest. The putting greens are horrible. Tons of divots, bumpy surface, and maybe other things from possibly people using to hit balls, not sure but not a great putting surface. I like it because it's close. Prices are about avg, and they do at least have the rubber tees for $1 each. They also have a grass driving range area which of course is more expensive but usually available since most people just do the mats. It would be nice, since they are open late, if the lights that they do have you could actually see your ball once you hit it. Almost no point going once it gets close to dusk. Either better lights or like other places where they have light going upward so can see ball. There are definitely other places, further away, that you have better light at night. I am definitely NOT a golfer but this is a chill place for noobs and experienced players to hit some balls. Choose the upper level and get some sun or stay in the shade on the lower level. There's also a grass area and a short game area, but I have no idea what that is. Probably putting and such. Yes, I most definitely lean towards the noobish side. You can rent clubs if you don't have your own and the little shop you walk through to get to the range has snacks, drinks, and golf related stuff. Prices aren't bad no matter what size basket of balls you get. Get a range card and you'll save a few dollars. There's no time limit (that I'm aware of) but when it's crowded, and because I don't really know what I'm doing, I hurry so others can get in there. Before you start whacking away a la Rory McWhat'shisname or Happy Gilmore, rules of common sense ettiquet apply. Just because it's an open area, that doesn't mean you can act a fool. It's bad form to blast music, be rowdy, or bother people near you with loud, raucous stories of last night's shenanigans. Common sensical stuff. Try to bring a friend who knows something about golf or sign up for their classes. Lastly, as a smoker (don't judge me), I appreciate that this place is smoker friendly. When I first came to this driving range a few years ago it was a great experience. I came with a group of friends who were seasoned golfers and usually came here just to relax. The fares were pretty cheap and very affordable. Although I had to rent clubs, they were only a couple of dollars and were definitely worth it. Years later I see nothing has changed here. The staff is still friendly and very helpful when it comes to questions or anything that you may need Weather your professional golfer or just someone who likes to go to the range for fun. Unfortunately, that means that the main area that most people go for (the driving range) has not changed. It definitely needs upkeep because a lot of the grounds are shabby and falling by the wayside. But for the prices it's a pretty good price point. For small bucket of balls you pay $8 for 60 balls. For a medium bucket you get 105 balls for only $12. And for a large bucket of balls you pay $14 for 165 balls. It's way more than anyone could possibly need, which is why it's such a great value here. Whoever The short game areas are in fantastic shape and definitely worth the money. I also love the putting green area behind the driving range. It's small but it definitely helps you to Perfect your game. In my opinion those areas are the best kept areas on the property. Just as a reminder you should always bring sunglasses because it can get pretty sunny despite the fact that it does get windy here. So if you wanna be able to see, make sure you bring a pair so your able to see despite the odd weather here. read more

Not a 4 star experience trust me - place hasn't seen an ounce of maintenance or a facelift since opening 15 years ago. Landing areas mimic a dry dusty west Texas landscape with erosion at the back that they placed plywood over the ditches so the balls wouldn't get stuck. Price for balls is decent but like many ranges this has become a insert credit card, grab a bucket and pound them into a dirt patch where you can not see the ball land not get any scope on your distance. read more

Facilities are a little aged, but perfectly playable. Dude at the register? Not cool. I was new, I asked a few questions, you gave a few half-assed answers. Come on, I know you don't love your job, but let's try to feign some friendliness, mmmkay? Oh and why do you have to buy rubber tee nipples? (I said nipple!) Every other driving range I've been to provides those gratis. No biggie since it was only a buck, but weird. A large bucket was $13, kept us busy for just long enough. Was roaming around the city for somewhere to hit some golf balls. First, we hit up our usual location at Presidio golf first.... but all the stations were full and there was a slight queue for the next. We bounced to golden gate park golf course to find theirs was lame because you're pretty much hitting the balls to a net. We then managed to drive all the way to san bruno to his isolated golf course where I always drive by on the high way 280. Pulling into the parking lot... there was so much room to park. You enter through the golf shed mini store where restrooms were seen and golf equipment was present for rental and purchase. The set up of the golf range is similar to san jose's municipal Golf Course'. There's a line of upper stations and a line of lower stations. The grassland here is not as pretty as i would like because it looks more like a mine field than a grass golf course. It just doesn't seem fitting to the eye when golfing but i can't complain... everything else is set up properly and better than Presidio and Golden Gate Park. Got the 165 balls deal for $14 (cash/card accepted) which is the largest bucket of golf balls you can purchase at one time. (Pretty fair price) It seemed pretty filled up on a Sunday so my best suggestion is coming in at an earlier time or a later time in the evening. I feel like i will be coming here more often now that i know how it is.. compared to the other golf courses are the city. San Jose Municipal still beats here tho! Will be back on my weekends in SF!! read more

At San Bruno Golf, there's no experience needed to have some fun! Setting up on the driving range is quick and easy. Visit the main building to rent a golf club for $1 if you don't already have your own, then head over to the ball machine in the middle of the range platform. The machines are cash only, but the main building has an ATM to help. You can purchase small, medium, or large baskets of balls priced between $8-$14. My boyfriend and I usually get the large basket of 165 balls, which takes us about half an hour to go through. With over 60 practice stalls on the driving range, there's always an open spot to swing. Pick a spot on either the top or bottom deck and have at it! Maybe you'll spend several swings hitting just air and missing the ball entirely. Maybe you'll accidentally whack the ground instead of the ball. (I may or may not be speaking from experience.) These blunders are all part of the fun, especially when you're watching your date or friends also fail badly. My boyfriend and I were terrible on our first few visits, but we had a blast laughing at ourselves and each other. Don't let inexperience hold you back from a great time! Fun and games aside, the driving range can also be a cathartic release when life gets busy or frustrating. Blow off steam by hitting balls with all your might and sending them skyrocketing across the green. At night, the balls seem like shooting stars streaking across the air. Just being on the upper deck in the open air and open range before you is an invigorating feeling. The mountains in the background only add to the serenity. Whether you're a beginner or veteran looking for fun or relaxation, you're sure to have a great time here! read more

Sorry Beyonce, it's not really "to the left" but more like... "Mmmm...to the right, to the right. All these balls keep slicing to the right..." As frustrating as it can be to not get the ball to lie straight consistently, launching a bucket of balls down the range can still be pretty therapeutic. Practically everything about SB Golf Center is convenient. It's easy to get to (right off the Sneath exit on 280 South) and they have a HUGE parking lot.. Prices are pretty decent for buckets as well, and the range has two levels to swing off of - the ground level, which is covered but smaller, and an upper level, which is larger and relatively quieter but is exposed and doesn't have the same feel. They also have an area past the main range where you can tee off on the grass, but I think you have to be a member and/or pay a higher price for that. Beyond the driving range, SB Golf Center also offers areas to practice putting and chip shots, as well as instructors on site for golf lessons (group or individual, I believe). The one thing that does suck about coming here is that it can get pretty windy and the weather can turn rather quickly. A couple of times, my friends and I arrived to warm and sunny weather, but ended up leaving under cloudy and windy conditions. Considering how ranges further down the peninsula offer nicer weather with the same rates, those definitely have an advantage in that regard. However, SB Golf Center is still good enough, and a lot closer to SF. Now, if only I could get the ball to stop slicing... read more

Golf Range Not bad for a hidden away gem such as this. I use to drive by this one all the time and cannot believe it stayed hidden from my eyeballs stuck on the road before me. I came here with it about a good month before I had to dump him, but the setup here is clean, efficient and green. The mats were well maintained as were the grounds. There was a separate area for putting and the day we were there, Taylor-Made was offering a free fitting event. My drives were not that good that day but my pitching shots were great. In addition to the driving range, they also offer classes that I was thinking of tinkering with. Now it looks like I'm just going to have to wait a little longer :) read more

I'm definitely a fan of this driving range, I think it's great because there is plenty of parking, a buttload of stalls - both covered and uncovered, they stay open pretty late, and the bathrooms are clean. HOWEVER, I am DEFINITELY NOT a fan of unethical business. Please read on, there is a lesson to be learned. I got talked into signing up for a range card to get a discount on balls by the older Filipino-looking man who was working the evening shift. I don't come here regularly, but I figured that in the long run this $20 card will pay off. So a few months later, I lose my card, and find myself at the range again. Initially, I'm thinking forget about it - not a big deal. But at the last minute while I'm getting change, I tell the attendant that I've lost my range card. He says he can reissue it, for a $5 fee, all he needs is my ID. I hand him my ID, and he tells me I'm not in the system. He asks if it's under any other name, and I tell him I gave the guy that EXACT SAME ID when I bought the card. He shrugs, and says he can't help me in front of the 4 impatient people who have gathered behind me in the meantime. So I'm standing there like an idiot, trying to get a card reissued that was never processed, and I'm going to go ahead and assume that the money I paid was pocketed. This is unethical, a waste of time, and quite frankly a scam. My gripe is not over the $20 ($15, if you will), but over the fact that the range could TOTALLY use the money people are paying for range cards to maintain the facilities etc. So if you MUST get a range card, don't get it from the older guy. He'll totally take your money and you'll be in for a surprise if you ever want a new one. While this doesn't entirely deter me from returning when I'm desperate for a driving range, this has definitely left me with a bad taste in my mouth. No one likes a bad taste. P.S. The driving range at Crystal Springs has the same rates for golf balls, and San Mateo generally has much nicer weather. Plus, you won't get scammed by the golf shop attendants and you don't run into some of the heathen gangbangers that show up at San Bruno Golf Center - it might be worth the extra drive. read more

I've been out of the game for 15yrs. Recently came back bcuz if Covid19. I visited SBDR bcuz it was my go to spot when I was learning to play golf. What a shame of what has happened to once was formerly the best practice areas in the bay. Putting green is soggy and overrun with moss, weeds are everywhere which has become a sanctuary for mosquitoes, most stalls have broken dividers, 3/4 of all their Matt's have rips and holes, the grass range looks more like first cut of rough, and the targets on the range battered. Fees for balls aren't cheap and assuming the ball quality is poor. They used to have 6-10 teaching pros, but now none are there. The facility smelled very bad too, as if the Porto-potties haven't been changed in months. Sad to see one of my root places become a POS. Turns out the range will be closing down next summer. Not many places to go as one day cypress will end up closing too. read more

The ownership and management should be embarrassed with this facility. What a waste of a what could be a glorious practice facility. The "grass" range is truly pathetic. High thin grass over a soft muddy base. Even in the middle of a 5-year drought, the grass was always a soft soggy mess. The range balls are a joke. Maybe 5% of your bucket can be called golf balls. The practice greens do not allow chipping. Why? They are by far the worst greens around. If you're playing Sharp Park, come here, these greens roll at 6 on the stimp meter and are soft and bumpy. Their short game area offers no lights and is another pathetic example of a practice area. The bunkers basically are sloppy shovel dug pits. I strongly believe they utilize the native dirt and sand from the beach to fill them. Crystal Springs and Mariner's dorf this facility in the quality of balls, putting greens, and short game practice areas. It's such a shame. I would love the opportunity to turn this facility into a world class practice destination. read more
