i've been in customer for over a decade and I have not once made a complaint. My mother had an estate account with a Visa. My mother passed away recently and I called the call Center to see if I was liable for paying her visa -initially I was told that I was not liable. Then the representative called me back and told me that I am liable for paying her visa and if I don't pay the visa, then I will have to close the Estate account. I was really upset so I sent a message via email. They sent me a letter acknowledging that they had given me incorrect information. I had to talk to an estate attorney to get advice on what to do. I had to go into the branch and move the money so that the money wasn't used on my mom's. I received a letter stating I am not liable for my moms visa account. Then I receive collection notices stating that they would report the information to the credit bureaus under my name and that they do have the right. to take money and apply it towards the visa. I literally still have no idea what the correct answer is, but I do know that calling the contact center was a huge hassle for me because I had to call them back and now I've had to call their collection department as well. Keep in mind my mom has just died. She was a member since the 80s. I'm going to upload pictures to show their many inconsistencies.. I will say I do really like everyone in the Poway branch. They have been really kind to me going through this process and I like that I have a safe deposit box there. However, next week I plan on taking all the money that was in the estate account out and opening a new account with a different CU. Calling the contact center was a mistake. They put me through the ringer for asking a question after my mom dies. read more

They totally messed up a trust account and after they made a mistake they did not have the decency to go out of their way to correct it. Now I have to get an attorney involved. Parked my car and ducked inside to make quick cash withdrawal. Two tellers working and only one guy ahead of me so this will be quick. Or so I thought. Turns out the customers at the tellers are refinancing their mortgage or buying an airplane or God knows what. The two tellers are kabitzing and computering and everyone is having a great time- except for me and the guy ahead of me. Why don't they take that shit to a desk somewhere? Aren't the tellers there for quick transactions? After 15 minutes the guy in front of me is stoic but I'm starting to pace around. Twenty minutes in and I cough loudly to make sure they know we're there. One of them looks up (probably to see if I'm wearing a mask) and then continues to ignore us. More people are lining up behind me. Alright, that's it for me. I don't have unlimited patience. I ask loudly in their general direction, "Can you guys open another window?" I guess it was kinda loud and had an edge to it because the whole place looked at me in shock and fear. But that got them jumping. Two ladies started scurrying around to get another window open. Me and the guy ahead got our business done quickly and got the hell out of there. But man, if look's could kill I'd be laying on their carpet tits up. This could have been avoided if: 1. Any banking transactions that are going to take more than 5-10 minutes should go to a desk somewhere. 2. If people are waiting in line more than 5-10 minutes then add more tellers or cashiers to deal with it. 3. If a long wait is unavoidable then SAY SOMETHING! Acknowledge our existence! Do some triage. Do something! By the way, the guy in front of me was patient and stoic and I can admire that, but you can bet your ass he was grateful I spoke up! Peace. read more

I've been with SDCCU for over 8 years. The Santee division was great to me at first, very helpful. I refinance my auto loan through the poway branch and everything went down hill. I had an auto loan for 5 years with SDCCU. I chose to refinance through poway and found shortly after that they didn't re-enroll me in auto pay or payment protection. I don't use the SDCCU online banking option much because I feel the site is not user friendly. It's ridiculous that important messages go to the online account rather than your personal email on file. Because I though I was taken care of and resigned up for auto pay and payment protection I missed 2 payments without any warning aside from some hidden message on the online banking. I had more than enough in my savings to covers both payments. The payment protection would have pulled from savings if the fins weren't available in my checking. After missing 2 payments the banks sent me to collections. Still no contact from the bank aside from the online banking. By the time I found out what happened my credit score was destroyed, dropped 65 points. Ridiculous for 2 missed payments, and having the funds in my savings?! I called poway and they declined not offering auto pay or payment protection and turned me to their corporate division. I wrote multiple letters to corporate pleading to dismiss my delinquent payment. They gave me a short response refusing to remove the credit penalty. Maybe I am at fault for not being as active online. I only use the app which doesn't allow access to messages. Why won't the app allow it? Either way, a bank that does this to its customers deserves no applaud. Thanks to the poway brand I now have a low credit score and a new bank. Chase bank has been far superior in all aspects and I'm extremely happy I made the switch. read more

Had a San Diego County Credit Union Gift Card with a confirmed balance that was always rejected at point of sale terminals whenever I tried to use it. EMBARRASSING! Finally I got fed up trying to use it and came in to just cash it out, but the manager refused to even do that. Worthless. Thank you to the kind woman who tried her best to help me. read more

Back in the early 2000s, SDCCU was a great place to do banking. Unfortunately, they're among the worst these days. Even B of A and Chase are far superior in every measure. I would avoid SDCCU whenever possible and do business with a more legitimate company. read more

Disappointed in the service from this Credit union. We were trying to get a secured line of credit, both with excellent credit ratings and were denied in a few days without so much as a call. We are now looking to find a better financial institution to combine our accounts into one. read more

worst call center ever! i've waited on hold over an hour (twice today), called a third & left phone# for them to call me back, 2 hours later, got a call only to have rep place me on hold then hang up on me. she had my account info, so easily could have looked up my # and called me back. did she, no! this type of service has been occuring over the past year and i've complained to branch managers who tell me, "were working on it." today i sent a secure email so we'll see if they respond. of course, its christmas, so my needs won't be met until after the holiday read more

The call center waiting times are 30 to 59 minutes. Once they finally pickup the service is terrible. They aren't there to help.

They would not accept a valid power of attorney saying that we had to bring my husbands debilitated elderly mother in to have her sign their power of attorney and have it notarized at the branch office because their policy somehow allows them to go against the law. read more

Love this SDCCU branch, everyone is super friendly and always eager to help. We do most all of our regular banking here, but on Thursday, we spent almost 2hrs at the branch. We were working with Kim on an Auto Loan, there were a few hiccups along the way and she was great at doing everything she could to work around the issues we were having with the original leasing company. It's important to mention that my husband and I had to bring our 18 month along for this (not ideal). She is full of energy and about 30 minutes into the process we couldn't contain her in her stroller any longer; We had to set her free!!! Everyone at the bank was accommodating and attempted at one point or another to keep our girl entertained with friendly smiles, talking with her, giving her stickers etc. We really appreciated their patience with us and our sweet girl. read more

I am leaving my review here even though I called in and it was the main headquarters. I don't know where the headquarters is located. Anyways I dealt with a female named Amanda and she went out of her way to assist me with anything and everything I was looking for. I was requesting to be notified when the GAP coverage pays off my loan and she said she is not sure how the communication works for that, then she said she put a note that you can't miss on my account so when the bank employee pays the the rest of the loan (since my GAP coverage is with SDCCU) they would not miss the note and give me a call. It is hard enough to actually get through to a real person on the other end these days and she jumped in feet first and handled everything like a boss. I went in expecting a typical get in and out of a bank. But this bank was super helpful, there weren't too many staff members so I went in and sat down but got called quickly and was given help by 3 lovely ladies for new cards and mortgage information. I was quite pleased with their assistance and the main woman I spoke to was very helpful and talked to me as if I was just a friend instead of giving me standard run around information in a list. What a horrible experience I had here trying to get an auto loan. Every time I went in, I was given a different excuse why they couldn't conclude the process. The last time I was told the key word is "appointment" and I should schedule an appointment before coming in. After three trips, I closed my account and went elsewhere. This is the best SDCCU branch. There is hardly ever a wait when I go in, unlike Mira Mesa which is chronically backed up. Carla, the manager was ever so helpful when I in needed help with a tax issue and wenr above and beyond for me. Sandra was super efficient with our loan docs on more than one occasion. Yes, you may need an appointment for certain things but I wouldn't fault the branch for that. I think they are appropriately staffed for their volume of traffic. Okay, finally shaved some time to get in to this bank branch to transfer my accounts from a credit union far away where I used to live. Rushed through my day to cut out that little bit early to do it; drove extra fast to get my daughter and get to this location. So I walk in to the bank and it's huge - extremely high ceilings, 2 tellers working with people, but no line waiting, and roughly 7 desks with people sitting behind them around the really large room, one has a client sitting in front of them. So the employee to client ratio is surprisingly high (about 3 employees per customer). I'm told to sit in the middle of the lobby and someone will come help me. I sit there with my daughter getting increasingly ansy for 15 minutes. I sat there watching the 6 people behind desks doing .... not much. I guess I was waiting for the 1 person who was already working with another client. When I asked if they were backed up I was told it would be at least 5 more minutes. When I said I was going to leave she asked if I wanted to make an appointment ... to open an account! I'm blown away by how poorly resources are aparently managed there. I'm don't want to put my money in a bank that would use it so poorly. Looks like a cushy place to work though! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CREDIT UNION!! I've been a SDCCU customer for 30 years and they have developed into the WORST bank ever! Their new website is terrible! I tried to open a CD and move funds from my MM to the CD to fund it, but their new website won't allow that. Their old website did! I tried to call their 877 number and was on hold for over 2 hours and still no one answered. I left instructions for a call back and no one has yet called back (4 hours ago). Their voice message after the initial selection says that I can request a call back after the prompt....but there is never any prompt given! Customer service has really deteriorated over the last 4-5 years. Now just really pathetic. I never received my year end bank statement from them. When I asked for it to be send, they were going to charge me a fee for that statement! A 30 year customer doesn't get a statement, you'd think they would send it without charge, but not so at SDCCU. Check the other reviews of SDCCU. I agree with all of them! Their CD rates use to be some of the best around, but now are much lower than other banks. So, bad customer service, low CD and savings rates, and a terrible NEW website.....reasons enough for me to end my 30 year relationship with this bank! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! read more
