I had a strange problem and was stumped. I stopped at 3 other bike shops before ending up here. None of them were willing or able to help me... I came in and asked the tech Leon and he responded with some questions to get a better understanding of the situation. He stopped what he was doin and helped me out. He had a specialty tool to fix the issue. You could tell he was experienced and knowledgeable. This is my new go-to bike shop. I appreciated him explaining everything to me. The whole thing probably took no more than 10 minutes. When you stop at several other shops and get blank stares and no help it was refreshing to work with someone who knew exactly what was going on and how to fix it. Thanks again Leon.

Recently, the frame broke on my bicycle just outside of the warranty range, and they tried their best talking to the manufacturer about assisting me. The new bicycle I just bought needed a new front sprocket it was way too small. They did a quick turnaround for me. Awesome! Rick even recommended a pizza place to me and is now my favorite pizza place. Thanks much San Diego Cyclery!

I'm an avid Yelp user (which is how I found this shop) but have never taken the time to leave a review. This is my first, because this business went above and beyond for us and they deserve all the love. My 12-year-old son and I drove down from Rancho Bernardo to San Diego Cyclery after reading great reviews about their service and they absolutely lived up to the hype. My son's Rad e-bike had stopped working, and he thought the motor had gone out. He's pretty hands-on with his bike, doing all kinds of mods, changing tires, swapping brakes, etc., so we weren't sure what to expect when we brought it in. Rick, their service tech, kindly explained that they can't work on heavily modified bikes due to liability reasons, but instead of turning us away, he checked with his manager to see if they could still take a look and at least pin point the issue and guide us on how to repair it. To our surprise, they took the time to inspect the bike right then and there. Rick and the shop manager (really nice guy and failed to get his name) checked everything over and even pulled an old motor from the back to troubleshoot. After a few minutes, they figured out it was just a disconnected wire causing the issue, something my son and I totally missed. They didn't charge us, didn't rush us, and treated my son and his bike with genuine care and kindness, even complimenting some of his mods (like his reupholstered seat). They had no obligation to help, but they did anyway, and we truly appreciated it. My son was thrilled and took his bike for a spin around PB where I showed him my old stomping grounds Thank you San Diego Cyclery. Great people, great service, highly recommend. read more

I came in to get help with a bike repair. I brought my boyfriend's bike in because during assembly of the bike, he dropped the pool that attaches to the seat into the longer stem of the bike. I came in with intention to buy the pool that attaches to the seat. The person I was working with was dan, he said he's seen this happen many times, and he can take the piece out of the bike vs me having to buy a new piece. I brought the bike back in, and with his tools he was able to remove the piece out of the longer stem. Dan was very helpful and informative, explaining other things about the bike for me to be aware of. He also helped carry my bike to my car. Very knowledgeable, service was excellent. I just moved to Mission Beach a few months ago and this will definitely be my go-to bike repair shop from now on! read more

Excellent service and workmanship. I needed a complete brake overhaul on my Rad ebike, and they presented all of my options and associated costs up front. Also needed a new chain and hardware due to exposure to sand and moisture at the beach. Bike was finished on-time and runs better than new now! read more

We were doing a charity ride for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and one of our riders disk brakes decided to explode 10 miles from the finish. Yelp told me the closest shop was 1/2 mile away. We safety made it over to San Diego Cylclery and Rick had it back together in 5 minutes and we were on our way. Can't say enough on how that made our ride a success. These guys are absolutely the best. I took my bike in that hadn't seen the light in a year+ and they hooked me up! In less than a day, they tuned my bike up, checked everything and gave me a fair quote. My bike now rides like new. This is my go to spot for hybrid bike rentals in Mission Bay. Staff always is super friendly. I took my girlfriends bike to a shop so they can do a wheel alignment and they didn't do anything right so I brought it here. Ricky and the team double checked it and realized that the other Shop didn't do it right and they corrected it and only charge me a fraction of the price than the other shop. Tried this shop for repairs for the first time. Long story short. Have a $$$ MTB that needed brake pads and fork adj. They didn't know how to adjust a shock and sold me on un-needed discs w/o my consent. Would not give me back my used parts. Work was good on what the could do. read more

If I could rate this business no stars I would. Went off the websites specs on height for my sons bike, which was set at 20 in beach cruiser, received it and put it together and my son looked like a bear on a tricycle. Requested A refund and a return label to send back the bike in exchange for a 24 inch beach cruiser, and attached the return email I received from heather, telling me they will charge me a return shipping fee, which I had already paid for the shipping for them to send it, and a restocking fee, And they were out of 24 inch beach cruiser's. Completely disappointed in this business. Will never use this business again. read more

This place was top notch! Needed to rent a few bikes to cruise around the bay, but wanted to avoid the typical janky beach cruiser that most bike rental places around the bay offer. Super cool guy named Dan greeted me immediately and brought out some clean, well maintained hybrid cruisers. Location was good, just a block from the ocean and a short ride to the bay. Will make this my go to spot for a bike rental when I visit SD from now on. read more

New to MTB so I bought a used bike online for staters. The bike looks and rides ok but I don't have much experience with mountain bikes so to be safe I took the bike in SD Cyclery for a tune up service. Easy location to get to and plenty of parking. I arrived around noon on a Friday, I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the store and was helped immediately for service. Took my info and was told I'd get a call same day with a quote after inspection. About 3 hrs later I received a call and was told that my bike was in great working shape and, aside from airing up my tire pressure, no service was needed. I picked up my bike and they didn't even charge me to inspect my bike. Overall great first visit. I'm all about honesty and friendly customer service and I received that at this shop. I'll be coming back for all my bike needs. read more

This shop Rocks! I've brought both my vintage bike in here a couple of times to restore for better rides and the guys are always helpful and wise about which repairs are needed first. They are fists come first serve which I appreciate and totally get bikes out next day. We've also rented bikes here before we had ours working, they are always solid beach cruisers and they offer baskets. Another small tid bit is the community pump, a small detail that I appreciate. Nonetheless these guys are the best and always have a great attitude. Fully recommend! read more

My wife and I have been talking about getting bikes and getting outside and enjoying the sun again. We were lucky enough to have made Pacific Beach Bikes our first stop, because it was our only stop and will remain our "go-to" bike shop no matter what. The guys at PB Bikes were amazing at helping us explaining everything throughly, making us feel right at home, and even installed our bike rack right along side us . I cannot say enough about this bike shop and the 5 star staff that works there. Need a bike? Thinking about buying one? This is the place to go! It's been years since I bought a bike for myself and I was in the market for a new one for my little man. Bought two bikes online from here and by the time I left the store the next day to pick them up, I left with three and a baby seat for the tiny human! Great staff, Scott was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the rest of the staff was very friendly and easy going! Great customer service and great bikes! I was in Pacific Beach on vacation when I had an issue with one of my kids' bikes. I've been around bikes forever, and I normally do all of my own bike maintenance, but this problem was just kinda kicking my butt. I took the offending wheel over to Pacific Beach Bikes, and not only were they able to fix it, they jumped on it while I waited, and they showed me the trick for doing it myself next time. It was clearly a bust afternoon in the shop, so I really appreciated the few extra minutes that they took to help me out and make sure that I understood the solution. They're a busy shop for good reason; their service & pricing is fair & it's an honest shop. This place always seems to have what I'm looking for. The people running the place and staff are awesome and super helpful! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable (thanks Kyle and Carly!) and the owner Terry awesome. Years back I was not loving how my Ridge Rider felt. Rather than let me by a new model he convinced me to let him retrofit the Ridge Rider. Through a fancy suspension seat post and seat on it, a taller neck and more comfy handlebars. It's been my favorite for long distance rides ever since. They always keep a huge inventory in stock to choose from, and they're just all around A+ retailers, a pleasure to do business with, and have a killer brand behind them. I'm obv a big fan!

Unfortunately, the overall experience was a bit overshadowed by the owner. He tends to hover around the shop, constantly asking questions that feel unnecessary and, at times, a bit intrusive. It comes off more as a distraction than helpful oversight, and you can sense it affects both customers and the workers. It created a slightly uncomfortable vibe while I was there. If you're going for quality service, the mechanics will absolutely take care of you. I just wish the overal leadership from the owner Mo Karimi matched the level of professionalism as the mechanics.

He noticed this place as we were walking to get lunch earlier. We ended renting a surrey. It's meant for 2, both would need to pedal but the left side had the real steering wheel. Even when it was Gavin's turn to "drive," I still spun the dummy wheel though I knew it served no purpose. It was instincts. The path we took was along the waterfront which is the only path allowed. It was difficult to maneuver because there were a lot of people and a lot of people that are inconsiderate, too. Like a family of 6 walking side by side? Who are your parents that never taught you basic manners?! Service was nice. They hold your ID until the rental is returned. Gavin had fun. A helmet is mandatory for kids under 18 (free). All you pay is the rental for the bike itself. I'm not sure when will be our next cruise but we will definitely try this again but early in the morning so we can bike freely w/o people.

Really turned off by my recent experience here..I have been here a few times before to get work done, but this will be the LAST TIME I step in this shop.. Came in with my wife's bike and 2 new tires to swap out the road tires for some mountain tires on a small electric bike (no wires or extra cables to remove) and was quoted $60 to change tires??? Talk about price gouging during a pandemic! I thought for a moment and then asked.. Maybe they could offer a little discount since I've been there a few times and a local resident---NOPE guy says he has "20 people waiting to get repairs" lol what a lier, there was only 2 people in the shop and 4 bikes getting tune-ups that's it... The manager was trying so hard for the sale he just kept lying to me over and over again. I said at that price I'll just do it myself. Went to a nice big bike shop around the corner and got it done for $18 out the door.. If you want the typical USED CAR SALESMAN pitch bring it here smh... read more

Just now getting around to writeing a review on Pacific Beach Bikes and I still have such a big grin on my face! After a not so pleasant experience looking for beach cruisers in town, we stumbled upon pacific beach bikes by chance through an ad online. Skeptical at first to buy a bike sight unseen, we were quickly assured and put at ease as the owner personally walked us through the process the products, warranty and every detail we needed for the bikes that we were looking at buying. That very same day the owner personally drove a couple of bikes to our home and let us chose the ones we wanted. Bikes delivered the same day we called...and for free! We couldnt believe it! The whole process start to finish was easy and the owner was awesome to work with. He even assembled our baby seat (which we did not buy from him) to the front of our bike for free. He then suggested his top five bikes suited specifically to me, noting the pros and cons of each. He also taught me about bike maintenance, safety, and security (including local neighborhood-specific tips). I searched all over town trying to find a Fixie that was affordable but not a piece of junk like what I had, but couldn't find anything in my price range....until I stumbled across Pacific Beach Bikes online. I'm new to the area and was looking online for a bike shop near the beach and found Pacific Beach Bikes, so I called to get the hours of the store since it was getting late and they told me they would deliver a new bike to my house for only $10 that evening. I checked out there fanpage on facebook and picked out a basic beach cruiser for $140. So 45 minutes later a delivery guy showed up with my bike, I took a quick test ride and they assured me if I had any problems with the bike in the future to just call and they would take care of it. When my friend came into town in January we went to Pacific Beach Bike to rent her a bike for the day. The guy behind the counter was really nice and helpful. Since they close early on weekends he ended up just charging her for a Saturday rental and not for both Saturday and Sunday. He let her pick out the bike she wanted to rent, and made sure her seat was at the right height for her to be comfortable. He also tightened up my seat while we were in the shop, and checked to see if my tire pressure was all right as well. I've gone back there twice to get another U-lock and a bike light. read more

Ordered an Inferno Red Mataro Low on a Tuesday, they had it built and ready to ride out of the store the very next day.
