I'm an avid Yelp user (which is how I found this shop) but have never taken the time to leave a review. This is my first, because this business went above and beyond for us and they deserve all the love. My 12-year-old son and I drove down from Rancho Bernardo to San Diego Cyclery after reading great reviews about their service and they absolutely lived up to the hype. My son's Rad e-bike had stopped working, and he thought the motor had gone out. He's pretty hands-on with his bike, doing all kinds of mods, changing tires, swapping brakes, etc., so we weren't sure what to expect when we brought it in. Rick, their service tech, kindly explained that they can't work on heavily modified bikes due to liability reasons, but instead of turning us away, he checked with his manager to see if they could still take a look and at least pin point the issue and guide us on how to repair it. To our surprise, they took the time to inspect the bike right then and there. Rick and the shop manager (really nice guy and failed to get his name) checked everything over and even pulled an old motor from the back to troubleshoot. After a few minutes, they figured out it was just a disconnected wire causing the issue, something my son and I totally missed. They didn't charge us, didn't rush us, and treated my son and his bike with genuine care and kindness, even complimenting some of his mods (like his reupholstered seat). They had no obligation to help, but they did anyway, and we truly appreciated it. I came in to get help with a bike repair. I brought my boyfriend's bike in because during assembly of the bike, he dropped the pool that attaches to the seat into the longer stem of the bike. I came in with intention to buy the pool that attaches to the seat. The person I was working with was dan, he said he's seen this happen many times, and he can take the piece out of the bike vs me having to buy a new piece. I brought the bike back in, and with his tools he was able to remove the piece out of the longer stem. Dan was very helpful and informative, explaining other things about the bike for me to be aware of. He also helped carry my bike to my car. Very knowledgeable, service was excellent. I just moved to Mission Beach a few months ago and this will definitely be my go-to bike repair shop from now on! read more

I came in and asked the tech Leon and he responded with some questions to get a better understanding of the situation. He stopped what he was doin and helped me out. New to MTB so I bought a used bike online for staters. The bike looks and rides ok but I don't have much experience with mountain bikes so to be safe I took the bike in SD Cyclery for a tune up service. Easy location to get to and plenty of parking. I arrived around noon on a Friday, I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the store and was helped immediately for service. Took my info and was told I'd get a call same day with a quote after inspection. About 3 hrs later I received a call and was told that my bike was in great working shape and, aside from airing up my tire pressure, no service was needed. I picked up my bike and they didn't even charge me to inspect my bike. Overall great first visit. I'm all about honesty and friendly customer service and I received that at this shop. Recently, the frame broke on my bicycle just outside of the warranty range, and they tried their best talking to the manufacturer about assisting me. Went off the websites specs on height for my sons bike, which was set at 20 in beach cruiser, received it and put it together and my son looked like a bear on a tricycle. Requested A refund and a return label to send back the bike in exchange for a 24 inch beach cruiser, and attached the return email I received from heather, telling me they will charge me a return shipping fee, which I had already paid for the shipping for them to send it, and a restocking fee, And they were out of 24 inch beach cruiser's. This shop Rocks! I've brought both my vintage bike in here a couple of times to restore for better rides and the guys are always helpful and wise about which repairs are needed first. They are fists come first serve which I appreciate and totally get bikes out next day. We've also rented bikes here before we had ours working, they are always solid beach cruisers and they offer baskets. Another small tid bit is the community pump, a small detail that I appreciate.
