Really loved this spot! The bikes are a little rusty but then again this location is by the beach and with water, comes rust. It was $15 bucks for an hour which in my opinion should be cheaper for renting a rusty bike but this is California haha. I guess I'm helping to pay that top tier space rent. I'd pay it again and love riding down here by the coast! There is always going to be loads of people down here and if you're not a confident rider, I wouldn't come here to ride a bike. There is so much going on, from kids riding, skating, blowing bubbles, adults riding, skating, and blowing bubbles. It's such a magical spot, it's always brought a huge smile to my face walking or riding down here! I use to come when you could ride scooters lol and one time a friend of mine collided with a bicyclist and she broke some bones. Needless to say, just be careful and if you're not advanced, a helmet would definitely be recommended. read more

Had a great time with the whole rental process- rented online and our bikes were ready before we arrived. They even threw in a basket for us! We rode all over the bay and did 15 miles! We locked our bikes (locks were an additional $3-but so worth it) and stopped for lunch. I will definitely rent from Ray's Rentals again when I am back visiting my daughters. read more

We made some last minute plans to catch the sunset and bike around mission beach. This place was the only nearby place opened until 7pm in March. The check out and return process was quick and easy and the price seemed reasonable ($10 per hour). However, the bikes can be better maintained, the breaks on mine weren't great. Overall, a positive experience though. read more

I'm so glad that I was able to stop by this place. It's located right around the corner from Starbucks a block away from the beach decided to rent some skates and the service was amazing. They even offer military discount so make sure to ask. They have a wide selection of bikes, skates surfboards you mean that they got it. They must place for rentals. They have other locations as well. read more

Stoked to rent bikes here for the week at good rates - bikes are in good shape (other places rent out rust buckets) these were in good condition, stylish, easy to adjust seats etc - came with a lock - use it! We were happy to have these bikes the whole week of our stay for only like $70. Sure it's a block off of the boardwalk, but the quality and waitstaff are worth it. Easy checkout process on your phone and you're done! read more

Rented cruiser bikes from Rays on a recommendation. Great people to deal with and very friendly. We mentioned the location we were staying and got a discount. Bikes are in very good condition and I know that's hard due to the weather and salt water. We generally bring our own bikes but didn't this trip but glad we found Rays. Thumbs up. read more

A group of three of us rented e-bikes. Upon the recommendation of the manager, we went to Torrey Pines. Two of the three bikes batteries died. Calling the store resulted in no help saying, "I never said Torrey Pines". Manager refused to assist us. After a two hour pedal fest and return of the bikes to the store, the manager gave us a partial refund and said that he probably gave us bikes that had dead batteries. I would not recommend this store/chain read more

So they were able to to accommodate all of 4 bikes with a tag a long, and 3 single bike if you check in with Yelp you get a free basket. They took along time to get all the bikes ready because they had to put the tag a long together and one of them was not right during the ride it was slanted to one side so it was kind of funny. They provide helmets for the kids $10 a bike for an hour is not bad read more

I had rented beach cruisers from Ray's about 10 years ago for a dear friend's 30th birthday trip and had such a blast. Lo and behold, it's about 10 years later and I'm with my 8-year-old desert kid who'd been looking forward to biking the boardwalk since we'd planned the trip. We walked to Ray's from our rental when they opened and the two employees were super helpful. My son was a bit trepidatious about getting the right size and fit as he's still kind of new to the bike life. They have a variety of sizes and we quickly found ours. We packed our own helmets in anticipation, but Ray's has them available to rent, too. It took my son a minute to get comfortable with the beach cruiser style as he's only been on a mountain bike. I set my alarm for 30 minutes and we happily headed out for an hour. The whole process to rent a bike was super easy and fast and kid-friendly. They have all kinds of other items to rent, also. It was absolutely worth the money! read more

Visiting from Pennsylvania and found this off a Google search. Walked in not knowing anything, not even where the beach was! The worker Tim, was quick to greet me and struck up conversation like we've known each other forever. He couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Everything down to recommendations where to go, where to eat..and letting me know if I go past my time not to worry, he'll figure it all out when I get back. My two hours, turned to almost 5...he told me to check out the bayside and cut down alleys to get to the beach. When I returned he asked how everything was and thanked me for coming in. Good prices, and easy to book online. However, some of their equipment could use some upgrades. It took us about 4 bikes to have one that would even work. Some had no pedals to not having a chain. It was odd that those weren't thrown in the back. The staff was nice and he was uncomfortable about all the broken equipment so I would just get rid of that stuff if possible. read more

Never rent a surfboard from here!!! I was practically robbed. I never write reviews on here, but I'm here in San Diego on vacation and wanted to surf and decided to rent a board from here and it was the worst decision ever. They gave me a dinged up old board to use and I was out on the water for maybe an hour and a half (which is nothing compared to my usual 3 hour surf sessions) and the whole fucking board fell apart! I would have been fine paying like $50 for damages but $250 was a total rip off. I can buy this exact board good condition used on Facebook Marketplace for $100. They told me they "couldn't repair it" but I'm most certainly positive you could, they were just ignorant about surfboards. I have never seen a fiberglass board fall apart like that - it just shows you how old and beat up the board was to begin with (probably a sign you shouldn't rent these out to people). Not sure how I was supposed to know it was gonna crumble like that, I mean it looked perfectly fine on the outside. So if you want to be robbed of $250, rent here. PS. The two guys working were pretty nice, I just wish I could've talked to management or something. read more

They have everything to rent for the area. Only one person was working on July 8, 2025 in the morning and it took about 1/2 hour to rent bikes. A family before us said it took an hour to rent four bikes. read more

Granted I didn't need anything super complicated, the associate was awesome wish I knew his name I'd make a shoutout. It's a great place to rent a beach cruiser. You can either ride along Mission Bay which is what I recommend (it's way less crowded and you are still on a path right by the ocean) or ride along Mission Beach to Pacific Beach boardwalk which is super busy. It's was only $8 /hour for the beach cruiser read more

Background: I rented a beach cruiser bike with a couple of others at Ray's Mission Beach location Pros: 1) Professional/good service. They patiently answered all my questions over the phone a few days before I came in and when I was in the store the day of. 2) Location. A couple minutes from free parking lots and only a block away from the beach where you can go north and south on the boardwalk. 3) Cheap. A bike cruiser for an hour is $10, $3 helmet, and an optional front basket for your things is $3 all day. Can't beat that! Cons: 1) Didn't encourage us to get helmets - they told us that wearing a helmet is up to us. You ought to wear helmets for your own safety and for the community - I don't want to see your brain splattered on the sidewalk and neither do people you're close to! They should be encouraging everyone to wear a helmet, if not make it policy. Tips: 1) On the weekend, the free parking lots close to the beach fill up fast. We got there at 9:45 am and there was ample free parking, but the lots fill up by about 10:45 am. 2) To go the entirety of the boardwalk (all the way north and south and back to the shop) takes about an hour. The staff also recommend a route that is much longer that's not too far away. 3) The boardwalk was super busy when we went, so if you ride on it expect to weave in and out and dodge people 4) Biking with the bike cruisers is a lot of fun and to stop you pedal in reverse. There's no hand breaks. The bikes are called "cruisers" for a reason. On the flat boardwalk, you can pedal a bit and then stop and the bike will coast for some time. If you want a leisurely experience you can bike with less intensity and slowly, and that way it's not demanding on the quads. read more

I saw a lot of bike rental places in San Diego, so when I was ready to rent a couple of bikes I went to the first place that showed up in my google search. I wish I had looked around a little more before stopping here. The bikes were old and seemed a little rickety. I hated being nickled and dimed to death for everything. Locks were extra. Baskets were extra. You'd think a bike lock would be included so they could protect their property. I checked out other places later and saw that the prices were inclusive of accessories and the bikes looked nicer. The guys working were friendly though. read more

Need a ride? We took the littles for some bike riding around Mission Bay. Great place for kids but mom and dad don't have bikes. Solution! We made our reservation on rays and got a cart for our youngest daughter. It was easy and our Ray's dude was helpful and chill. He set us up for a great day and drop off was a breeze. We'll def be back! Minor downside was that the three tagalongs they had were broken. read more

One star too many! Bikes were in horrible condition. They took a HUGE deposit that took a few days to be returned. We couldn't end our hour bike ride fast enough. It was a terrible experience from start to finish. The actual boardwalk path on mission beach was NOT family friendly. Rude people, so many dogs off leashes, drugs, loud music and people not following the rules on the path. I don't recommend cruising the boardwalk with kids. I certainly don't recommend doing it on a bike from Ray's. They were clunky, heavy, dirty and hard to ride. We are big bike riders, we ride bikes nearly daily on a wash trail near our house. These bikes were terrible. The man working was rude. The music playing inside was horrible, the language was terrible, and we were there with little kids. It was dirty and run down. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Ray's Rentals. read more

These guys were great, needed an arrangement for longer term rental as my daughter is an athlete and needs to run about 8-10 miles while on vacation, and my fat but can't keep up with her except on a bike. They set me up and were great. Bikes are beaters, so don't expect a new race bike , but were safe and gave me trouble free use. read more

We looked up beach bike rentals and Ray's was top-rated, so we stopped in to rent bikes for a sunny beach day ride. The location is off a main road - you do have to cross either the main major road or the road Ray's is on to access the beach, but we navigated this fairly easily and were quickly on our way. Overall easy, positive experience - would recommend as an easy stop for rentals. read more

Affordable, easy to rent, good location. We reserved bikes the night before, but decided to go in earlier and there was no problem with that. The location doesn't have much parking around, but there are a few lots in the area that allow for free parking, which was convienent. Good location to start a ride along the path. read more

I bought a used bike at a very fair price. Tim was fantastic - he let me test ride it without any hassles after I told Tim that I will not buy the bike on that day. This bike rental shop is located right in front of beach. It's only $10 for one hour rental. I guess we went there at the best time thought we didn't plan anything, turns out we were there for the best moment, and had amazing view of the sunset. Apparently, San Diego has the prettiest sunset view around this time of the year (November, between 4:00-5:00pm) I strongly recommend doing it for outsiders and even for locals!!!! read more

They had several Torqs surfboards to rent so my boyfriend and I tried 2. You can rent up to like 3 boards same day for price of $10 per person which is a steal. Last time I tried before I buyed was like a $35 rental and although I did end up getting that board and love it, $10 is so cheap in comparison. All you need is to leave a credit card or ID for your rental, and just one per party. You also sign some paperwork and you're good to go. They answered all of our newbie questions and pointed us in the right direction to try and surf. We each rented wetsuits ($15 for half-day) and a soft top surfboard ($10/hr) and we were on our way! The rentals were great quality and we enjoyed surfing for 2 hours by the dog beach (just north of lifeguard tower 5). Will definitely be back again whenever we have visitors that want to surf!!

I sell jewelry (about half is made by me), it has no competition with his business. I have videos of him not being nice to me and then running away when he is recorded. The amount of time he spends working to get rid of me (and I am sure all of us vendors, but this is my review) is sad. He calls the city almost everyday that I am there. He takes pictures of my 1 table set up to complain about me and then goes into the printing business actually located on the street to cry about me on a regular basis and then they come out to take more pictures of me. He takes pictures of my table when I am standing next to it instead of behind it to make it look like I left my table alone. He has even accused me of damaging his car and leaving bad reviews under different names. Neither of which I have ever done. Obviously he is so disrespectful enough to other people as to have these things done. For a while he would constantly say hello to me or wave at me from his car like a ridiculous dramatic child that wants attention and wants to feel like a big man, but needs to grow up, move on, focus on his own business and life. I intentionally avoid eye contact with him because he will see it as an open to say hello to me. You are not my friend. You actively work against my ability to feed to myself. Your phony baloney is obvious. If you were smart, Alan, you would have made good with me and then I would have recommended your business to people passing by.
