Called this DRAIN SERVICE.... And asked what would it cost to have my bathroom tub drained. I was told to go to Home Depot and buy some drain-o. I said really, that's our advice? I am merely writing in hopes that Chuck Jones reads this and understands my level of disappointment in his professionalism as a business owner, as well my lack of trust and confidence in both He and his Associate Daniel. I met Chuck in 2004 after contacting his company SDP&D to install our new water heater we purchased. I was looking for an honest plumber that I could call on when I needed a problem fixed big or small. Chuck was knowledgable , personable and educated me on a few common issues. His price was fair as well. We swapped stories as he worked and learned a bit about each other's families. When the job was completed I felt confident this was our plumber. A few issues popped up that needed attention over the last three years and I pulled Chucks card from the door of the water closet. He came to the house and fixed the problems. Approximately a year ago, I contacted him because the pilot light repeatedly went out on that water heater he installed in 2004. He and and Daniel came, got the heater up and running by cleaning out a vent and minor adjustments. Soon after leaving the pilot light went out again. I called Chuck. He gave me Daniels number so he could take the job. I called Daniel and fixed the problem. Things worked great until August 2015 the pilot light went out Danielle walked be through restart via text messages. I got it running again. In December we began using furnace. Pilot light for hw/heater started going out again. I'm thinking it's not leaking so maybe a draft. On 12/21/2015, I sent a text to Daniel explaining the issue in detail, asking him to please contact me. I sent him another text on 12/23 when I had not heard back. I also sent a text to Chuck on 12/23 explaining problem and that I had not heard back from Daniel. We had some conversations back and forth via text about the issue. Chuck told me he would get in touch with Daniel telling him to contact me. I left Daniel a message as well via telephone on12/23. When I didn't hear back, I sent a second text to Chuck on 12/24 letting him know Daniel still had not gotten back to me and asking if he was able to reach Dan....I noticed Chuck blocked my text!! I could not believe a business owner would do this to a long time customer. I was outraged how unprofessional this was. On 12/26 I finally received a call from Dan. I explained that we had no hot water since 12/21 and that I was enraged that Chuck BLOCKED my second message. I asked when he could get here to take a look. He said he had some other things going on so would order part and could be here the following Monday. I didn't hear back on Monday so I called and texted him asking if there was a problem. We spoke in phone and reminded him I have a 93 year old mother living here who is only getting heated water from stovetop. He wrote me on 1/4/16, said he was looking for part. Also said "Holy crap, he would get on it. I texted him next day because I'm really desperate and he writes back he is searching for part. I couldn't figure out how he knew what he needed because he hadn't seen the heater yet.. Few more days passed, said he was "sourcing the part". This went on a few more days and I did tell Dan that I would look for someone else if he couldn't get things done... He was supposedly waiting for his source to find part somewhere on East Coast.... To date, I've not heard back from Daniel. It's a mute point now because I have a new plumber and a new water heater. I'm just thinking that maybe Chuck doesn't need any more business, but if he wants to keep customers, maybe he needs to improve on his customer service skills I will no longer do business with Chuck or Daniel or SDP&D. read more

I own and operate two residential care facilities, and as you can imagine, a clogged kitchen sink is a big problem when you are responsible for providing care for six elderly residents. Preparing food three times a day, and cleaning up afterwards, is much more difficult without a kitchen sink. Can't run the dishwasher either. With nine people living in the house, it doesn't take long to start running out of kitchenware. A recent clog prompted me to call Sandiego Plumbing and Drains to arrange for immediate service. I explained the urgency of the situation to Chuck, and he assured me that since he lived in my area anyway, he could come to my property later that afternoon. Just after 3PM (about three hours after my initial call), Chuck called to inform me that he would be unable to stand behind his original commitment to provide service, but would be willing to contact another plumber to do the job. Before accepting this offer, I merely mentioned that I had hoped to have someone working on this already. I was letting him know, in a very nice, calm manner, that I was disappointed by the delay. Unfortunately, Chuck didn't even let me finish my sentence. He interrupted, rudely spitting out something like "OK, well, I was just trying to help you but if you don't want my help fine" CLICK. Yeah that's right, he hung up on me, for no apparent reason. I was stunned by his lack of professionalism. Unbelievable. I could have called another plumber initially if I had known Chuck wasn't going to be able to accommodate me, as there are literally hundreds of plumbers in San Diego county. But I understand things don't always go as planned. That's not where Chuck blew it. He hung up on me. For no apparent reason. I guess there's plenty of work to go around, since Chuck obviously doesn't need my business. Still can't understand why Chuck thought it would be appropriate to hang up on me, but I can guarantee he'll never get the chance to do that again. read more

Chuck was awesome. We are overseas in Spain and we heard from our guests staying in our Escondido home that the drains were stopped up. Not the kind of situation you want to deal with on vacation nine time zones away. We found Chuck...he actually answered my call (no voice mail to deal with) and re-assured me he would handle it. I first encountered San Diego Plumbing and Drains several years ago when I needed a new water heater put in on an emergency basis over the weekend. The old one had started leaking overnight and had flooded the garage. Chuck was onsite within a few hours of calling and did a great job, and didn't gouge me on the price - which many plumbers would have done for an emergency call on a weekend. I've used them a few times since them for things like replacing valves on toilets, leaking faucets etc. I think they have been here a total of 4 times - always professional and fair pricing. When I got a call from my brother in law yesterday telling me there was a sudden leaking toilet, I asked him to simply turn off the water to the house, and I would take care of it --- knowing when I got home I would call Chuck and have him handle it. I had no question who to call, or that I would get a fair price on another emergency service. While I hope I don't need a plumber again for as long as possible - if I do, I'll call San Diego plumbing and drain. read more
