I regret not listening to the other 1-star reviews I read beforehand. The staff doesn't speak English, so you can't properly communicate with your stylist about what you want or need--and they don't ask either. Here's a summary of my experience over three visits and why I would recommend trying somewhere else: Consultation: They take you into a room full of hair, which looks promising. But you can't choose the hair you want. It's around $850 for 100 grams of hair, including installation. This was the selling point for me because the hair they showed me seemed nice and the price was less than other places. Day of Installation: They take me back to the hair room, and I asked for curly hair since mine is wavy. They only had one shade of brown to choose from, which was super warm/red-toned (exactly what I said I didn't want). There were plenty of other colors, but it's all for show. They didn't let me pick out the good hair--they gave me the worst quality. The stylist picked a reddish brown and said it would blend, but I'm not even sure she understood me, as she didn't speak English. She also chose a blonde color, which was a standard yellow blonde with no variation. When they installed the hair, it was wavy but nice. However, they didn't blend the colors at all. I looked like a zebra. I told them it looked bad and asked for the colors to be blended. They said it looked fine and just swapped out a few brown pieces for blonde. I was extremely disappointed with the color. They're not real stylists--they're just people who glue in hair. When I told them I was unhappy, they told me to come in, but insisted that it "matched" and there was nothing more they could do but trim it a little. If you ever have an issue, they'll just blame you instead of trying to make things right. Post-Installation: I ended up dyeing my hair to make it look less crazy, but after washing it, the curls looked horrible, nothing like they did when it was first installed. After all of this, I decided to have them reinstall the hair because I didn't want to take it to another salon. I went in to have them remove it and returned the next day for the reinstall since I couldn't get everything done in one visit. When they installed the hair, it was literally half of what I had the day before. Either they steal the hair to resell it or simply don't bother reinstalling everything, so I ended up losing half of the hair I paid for, which was supposed to last a year. When I complained, they blamed it on improper brushing, but I came in with more hair the day before--so how could that be my fault? I'm beyond disappointed with this place. Every time I've asked for help, they blame me and never take responsibility. If you want a cheap install and have a solid brown or blond color, this place could work for you. But beware- they might loose half of your hair on the reinstall. read more

WARNING! This company sells poor-quality hair and ignores requests for proof it's 100% virgin Slavic human hair. I had extensions installed June 11 by a student who used too much product, leaving my hair oily, stringy, and unwearable. Even after multiple washes and 2 return visits, the problem never went away--my hair was cut unevenly and still looked greasy. Less than two months later, I was told I'd need to pay $850+ for new hair because the texture was "wrong." They chose the texture for me at our consultation so if it was 'wrong' then obviously it was their fault not mine. Update: After 2 1/2 months, many extensions had fallen out, leaving bald patches. Another professional confirmed they were installed improperly, causing damage and breakage. I lost a significant amount of hair and had to pay $250 just to have them removed by a professional. WOW! So I visited Maryana at SD Hair Extensions Studio after doing a lottt of research and could not be happier that I did! This salon is the real deal!!! I've had every hair color under the sun and various types of extensions from different stylists but this is by far the best color and extensions I've ever had and the whole experience from beginning to end was very pleasant and enjoyable. The ladies working here are so, so sweet and genuinely care about you and your hair and want you to be happy! Like I said, I've had multiple types of extensions before from clip-in to sew-in, but the clip-ins were annoying because they took so long to put in and take out and usually ended up falling out anyways and the sew-in wefts just felt way too bulky and heavy and really limited my ability to wear my hair up and feel comfortable working out (which is extremely important to me and a huge downside that caused me to take them out). Both methods also made me concerned about hair damage/loss. I can say now having tried the keratin micro fusion method, it is definitely the way to go! Attaching lots of small and light bundles of gorgeous extension hair to your natural hair, they achieve a much lighter feel and more natural look than just one chunky weft. I can easily put my hair up in the highest ponytail/bun without any pulling/discomfort or the extensions or keratin bonds showing AT ALL. Night and day from what I had before. Not only are the extensions amazing, but my color transformation was beautiful too! I came in with medium length brown hair with caramel highlights and left with the most beautiful sandy blonde, super long hair (see photos for before and after). Maryana saw my inspo picture and brought my dream to life while still respecting the integrity of my hair and avoiding damage to it. If you're considering extensions, I highly recommend SD Hair Extensions. Take it from someone who's tried it all - they really know what they are doing and will not let you down! My friends got me into extensions and I stumbled upon the studio. I have always had very damaged and bleached hair so I was nervous when I saw that the K tip extensions required heat. I didn't have a big budget since I am still a student so I decided to only do 100 g of hair for $650. However, when I got Brittany, I was shocked to hear that she was a "student." She managed to make my hair full and long even with only 100 grams. She took great care and had amazing precision to make sure I felt my best. The blend of my extensions and the trimming she did of the hair is beautiful. She assured me that K tips are safe and created a comfortable and warming environment. IMPROPER INSTALLATION RESULTING IN INJURY - SALON IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY. Avoid this place....seriously. I had a very disappointing experience at this salon. Initially, I was considering not having any extensions at all, but the consultation here convinced me otherwise. The person I had the consult with assured me their K-tip extensions would be a great option for me because they are pain-free, which was addressing my main concern which was pain. I've realized that this consultation was just a sales pitch and nothing that they said was actually true, i was deceived. My first clue something wasn't right at this salon the day of the installation, the hairdresser skipped their own "essential" preparation steps and went directly from coloring and conditioning to installing the extensions. Immediately after the installation, I experienced severe pain on my scalp and extensions were falling out. When I reached out, they for the first time told me it was actually normal for the first two weeks to be in pain. After two weeks, the pain persisted and got worse which they said was not normal and based off research one reason is due to improper installation. Another reason could be the hair they sold and installed on me was was way too heavy in volume. They acknowledged there might be an issue but refused any refund, citing a contract I signed without verbally explaining the terms. During the removal appointment, I was in tears as I lost a significant amount of hair, and my scalp was left with welts that bled. I also felt like the staff here was being extremely defensive and unresponsive. I strongly advise against this business due to their misleading practices and lack of accountability. I am just left with damage done to my hair and scalp and unusable extensions. Even though they state the extensions are "reusable", they are the ones who have to reinstall as no other salon even reuses k tips, they offered to reinstall them and i have to decline, i do not trust that the same issue won't just happen again and i don't really trust a place that doesn't seem concerned about fixing a problem. They never mentioned they could reduce the volume/weight of the extensions, however they claim to have a lot of experience with thin hair, so if you do have thin hair, note this place may not the be place for you despite their claims. Since the installation this has caused me weeks of SEVERE pain, actually needed to be seen by a doctor. They were very cold, dismissive and defensive over the topic of me being in such severe pain, which made me actually kind of uncomfortable. Salons usually care about their work and take pride in it, this place from the outside may seem like that but i really think they are just after your money. Based off the other negative reviews, improper installation DOES Seem to be happening for a long time at this salon and based off their responses I wouldn't be surprised to see a very rude response from the business too. read more

Alena is truly an artist! She did an amazing job of matching my current hair color. I had my hair highlighted about six months ago and she was able to piece together a few colors of extensions to complement my natural color and my old highlights. She did a beautiful job of blending it all and even created a subtle ombre effect. I'm so glad I found this place!!! TBH, I was really skeptic due its broad name LOL. But I went in for a free consultation and she answered my bajillion and one questions about hair extensions. I had so many concerns about hair extensions, and they're the first place that made me feel really good about it. My biggest concerns were: 1) maintenance, how often do I have to go in to move these extensions up 2) color - my hair has a lot of dimension, so I was scared color would not match up well 3) cost 4) my thin hair - will ppl see bumps from my extensions 5) hair damage A miracle happened and I was somehow able to get an appt 2 days later to get my hair done. I was a bit nervous bc my roots are pretty grown out from a balayage coloring, but she seemed confident with doing my hair. Iulia was my stylist. She had actually matched up color quite well using different strands of color! I was so surprised with how well it looked. For me, the extensions felt SO light. You can barely tell that they're in your hair. The technique they use is great bc you can still style your hair in most ways. I can still put my hair up and style it as needed as well! Cost wise - I really think it beats the other salons. Your hair can last 3 months before having to go back and getting them moved up. The only con is that it's not a full service salon. So it's really just hair + install. they don't touch up your roots or anything, but its still all good bc I can just go to my regular guy for that!
