I would give 4.5 stars if I could! But I can't and I'm the kind of person who saves my 5 star ratings for pure magic, so 4 it is. I found Deniez via a yelp search for Brazilian blowout deals after looking in the mirror on an extra frizzy hairday. She ended up convincing me to go for the global keratin treatment in the end, which is looking good so far! My hair is totally smooth for a change - I'll have to see how it holds up with humidity over time. I had an eclectic assortment of randomly placed red and blonde highlights when I went in. Deniez transformed it into something that not only looks intentional, but pretty damn amazing! I can't stop looking at my hair :) The overall experience was really great. Evian has that modern, chic vibe you expect from a nice salon - and any stylist that offers me mimosas (garnished with strawberries!) throughout my appointment is a winner in my book ;) Deniez is really sweet and funny. Deniez is the best person to go to for hair. I first found Deniez a year and a half ago when I needed a quick fix on a botched color job from a totally different salon. She was able to make a dramatic turnaround that left me getting compliments for weeks. Not only did she immediately find time to accommodate my situation, she was spot-on with her mastery of color and technique. I've been happily coming back to Deniez every 8-9 weeks ever since, excited every time I leave to see the new gradations of color shine (I've been changing it from dark to light and back again this past year). I found Deniez through the Groupon deal for Global Keratin. I've always wanted to try it, so I went in for an appointment. My first red flag was the fact that it's $50 for a haircut, and I was told "that was including a discount." The keratin did not even last me 2 WEEKS, and when I went to another salon to get it fixed I was told that the keratin was poorly applied, and there was hardly any product applied at all. Plus, I asked Deniez to just give me a trim. She kept chatting while cutting and before I knew it, she cut 3 INCHES off of my hair, which I've been trying to grow out for a long time. Again, when I went to another salon they asked me if I tried cutting my own hair! Not only did I pay $150 for a poorly applied keratin treatment, but I can't believe I spent $50 on an awful haircut. It was the worst and most expensive haircut I've ever had. I felt totally ripped off. =( read more

Deniez is simply amazing. When I first saw her, my blond hair had been turned dark brown by a woman at another salon and all I wanted was my beautiful light hair back. Well, Deniez took on the challenge and matched the color in the photo I gave her perfectly, in one sitting. She didn't try to give me a line about how difficult it would be or try to extend the change into several visits, she just knew what needed to be done, and made it happen. Since then, she has done an ombre red...which also turned out exactly as the photo and a Keratin treatment. I am seriously in love with my hair after every visit and always get tons of compliments. My husband bought me a deal through livingsocial as I had mentioned that I wanted a trim. The deal was a haircut and style through Daniz at TRU hair salon. I called her and booked an appointment. I try to get a hair trim at least once a year, but it's been a good 2 years, so I thought I was due. When I arrived, I was greeted by Daniz and we discussed what I wanted and what I did not want. Now, I know my hair was long and it typically costs a little bit more for longer hair. The length of my hair was just above my waist line and I had mentioned that I only wanted 2 inches removed from the bottom, as I wanted to keep it a little long, because I had a couple of weddings I was attending. I showed her visually with my hands at how much I would like removed and she said she understood. As she was cutting my hair, we talked about how long she been in the business. She mentioned that she was in the business for a couple of years, so I believed I was in good hands. We talked a bit more and I began browsing through my phone as she did her thing. As soon as she finished, I looked up and noticed she removed more than I wanted. She cut more than 2 inches off. My hair now falls a little below my shoulders- right above my bra line. I was in shock! I asked her why she removed that much, and her response was, "it looks good that way." Now, I don't really know if she really meant, "I cut off all the dead hair." I didn't want to make a scene, because what can be done at this point? She started to clean up. The voucher was worth $65, but she didn't remember how much it was for. She overcharged me another $30 and I paid. When I got home, I asked my husband how much the voucher was for, and he said, "$65." I contacted Daniz to dispute the difference and she realized the error she made. She was nice enough to give it to me back and was even willing to leave it for me, just in case I wasn't able to make it to her shop on time. Now, I would recommend her, she was very nice and upfront. Her prices are reasonable. I just believe she should pay attention to what her client/customer wants. It takes a long time for hair to grow and I would have loved to have longer hair to style for the weddings, but I'll have to make-do with what I have. read more

I didn't actually get my hair done by Daniz, so this is more for the experience involved. I saw the offer for the Global Keratin that Daniz was offering on Groupon so I called to find out more about it. Since I have long thick curly hair I am used to salons upcharging me, when I get this treatment, so I like to call and find out what the range of the upcharge will be. Daniz was very friendly on the phone and suggested I get a Brazillian blowout instead because it works better for curly thick hair. She said she would give me discount pricing so I could try her out and because I had seen her offer on groupon. We made an appointment for a consultation and agreed that after she saw me, and told me the price, we would decided if I would do the treatment then or not. I showed up for our appointment and Daniz was still styling her previous clients hair. She didn't really acknowledge me or let me know when she would be done. I ended up waiting 30 minutes while she finished her clients hair. When she was done she did greet me and apologize, but I do not really appreciate being kept waiting. I have a lot of hair and it takes forever to have it done. Having to wait 30 extra minutes will just add to what would have been an already long appointment. After seeing my hair Daniz asked a bit about what I'd had done in the past (I have been getting Brazillian Blowouts and Keratin treatments for the last 4 years) and what my experiences have been. I asked what the price would be for the Brazillian Blowout (keep in mind that the groupon deal I called about was for $119 dollars). She had said she would give me discount pricing on the phone and when I got there she quoted me $250.00. I reminded her of our conversation, and that I had seen the groupon for the Keratin treatment, to which she responded that in the fine print it says depending on length and thickness of hair. I completely understand that, however the most I have ever been upcharged was between 20-40 dollars on a Groupon deal. I think telling someone you will honor a groupon deal, and then charging them an extra 130 dollars, is completely ridiculous regardless of whether my hair is thick or not. If I am trying you out, because I saw your deal on groupon, I can't understand how you think charging more than double is a good idea. If I ended up liking your work, and I know it's good quality, I will be happy to pay. Because of the way that all went down I ended up leaving after my consultation and I definitely will not ever go back. I have paid full price for Keratin Treatments before, and once I know the person I am going to does good work, I have no problem with that. The reason I go on Groupon is so I can try out a new stylist at a lower price and see how their work is. read more

It looks like I'm the only guy writing a review so far, but I'm usually very picky with haircuts and she knew exactly how to push the envelope in style. I found Deniez through Groupon Now several months ago and am back today for my second cut with her. Let me tell you Deniez has skills and gives a great artisinal haircut! The salon is very clean, they carry (and she uses) quality Kerastase products, and she gave me the best hair of my life last visit. I've always had hair that underperformed IMHO, and Deniez made layers just in the right places to give my hair a bounce while somehow keeping the deadly frizz under control. I moved to San Diego over a year ago and since then, I have tried three different hair stylists and salons. At the beginning of my appointment, Daniz listened to my concerns about my hair color and listened to what I wanted. I wanted beautiful highlighted hair that didn't appear yellow; she was honest in a professional way. I've been getting my hair done by Deniez for the past year! Her consultation when I first came in was great, you could tell she was really listening and wanted to find out what I wanted done. First appointment we did a color and cut, we went a few shades darker and it looked beautiful! I have long hair and I'm always worried about a trim turning into a few inches, this didn't happen, she cleaned up the ends and I still had long hair! Second time I came in, I told her I wanted to do something different with my hair but I didn't know what. I told her I wanted something that was easy to maintain, she suggested the Ombre. Deniez is amazing! I have struggled with my curly hair since relocating to humid San Diego nearly two years ago and finally feel that I found someone excellent at cutting curls. Previous to meeting Deniez, I was spending a fortune on cuts and despite using a "curly hair technique" to cut my hair, my previous stylist's cuts left my hair so dry and shapeless. It's been a few weeks since my cut with Deniez and I really feel like you need to let your hair grow out to see someone's work; I am still amazed at how healthy and soft my hair feels and the curls look great! She cut my hair both wet and dry (and the dry cut is so important for curls), took the time to really listen to my frustrations with my hair, recommended a great product to use to keep the frizzies in check, and is super reasonable in pricing. Not only was I in awe, but so were my friends and coworkers when they saw my hair.
