When I give the ultimate rating (5 stars) I do it because the business I am reviewing provided an exceptional product/service, at a fair value and/or provided tremendous customer service. I contacted San Diego Motoring Accessories (along with 4-5 additional businesses) to inquire about the possibility of repairing a bent rim that was a result of a pothole. This was a high end 20" rim on a late model Volvo which required (as I found out) specialized equipment and handling. A couple businesses never bothered reply, 2 more were vague but Don (the owner) even though initially he told me (after I provided pictures) that he couldn't do the repair on that wheel, he came back with a suggestion that he would be contacting a few people he knew to see if they could repair it. He didn't give up and true to his words he came back a few days later with a solution. Due to my heavy work and personal travel schedule, I couldn't go through with it and I let it go but it was always in the back of my mind since the rim was a bit unsightly and was also slowly leaking a bit of air. 3 weeks later, Don followed up with a note asking if I would still be interested. I replied that I was but I was still traveling. Fast forward, right before Christmas, I contacted him and arrangements were made for me to drop off the car for the 2-3 day repair time. I was a bit apprehensive as to how the wheel would come out but I trusted the good Yelp reviews I had read about his company. Here is where I became even more impressed. After I dropped off the car, and into the evening, my car's app notified me that the driver's window was open; I was certain that I hadn't left it open since it was raining and that got me worried especially since it had started raining harder and the forecast called for the rain to fall all night. I was afraid that if the car was left outside the interior would be damaged by next day. We had just sat down for dinner so my only solution (after I called the store but it had already closed) was to drive there and see if the car was outside. In the meantime, I sent a message through Yelp letting Don know what I was notified on and whether or not he knew the car was Inside. I didn't have any high hopes someone would get back to me due to the after hours situation. However, within 10 min, I received a text from Don's personal cell phone with a note assuring me that the car was inside his shop and he attached a picture from the security cameras showing my car inside. It goes without saying that I felt a huge relief and I was impressed by Don's super prompt reply. He didn't have to do this, after hours, but his conscientious reply allowed me to continue having dinner with my family vs driving in the rain to his place to verify whether or not my car was indoor. 2 days later, I got a message from Don that the car was ready, within the promised time frame. The wheel looked perfect, priced as agreed upon before I dropped it off and the car feels great! I would highly recommend Don and his company if you need wheel repairs, tires or similar services. A gentleman from Oceanside Motorsports took a quick look at the wheels, and recommended San Diego Motoring. I wanted new rims for my Pontiac G5 because the stock were worn out. I messaged them and Don replied back very quickly, asking for more info on the tire sizing. After giving him the details he compiled a few pictures of different rims to choose from and sent them to me.
