We love our new deck. We went to J&W Redwood in Chula Vista CA and spoke with Junior. He was very patient with all of our questions and was extremely helpful and friendly. Junior went over the various options of price, decking, colors, patio cover, railing, everything. We discussed which products he had in stock and which would have to be special ordered. We ended up going with Havana Gold Trex, Duralom insulated patio cover, and the Deckor rail system. Junior and his team delivered everything within the week except for the patio cover which took about two weeks because we special ordered a specific color. No problem on that end. We are disabled seniors unfortunate enough to deal with Larry K license # 1081042. here are pictures of the lumber Larry purchased from J&W a year later (we applied 2-4 coats of high-quality stain on each side.) when we were able to persuade Larry to look at eh fence, he said, It's the wood. You can't do anything about the wood." I don't think he would have come out as he did not return my texts or calls but my neighbor was having her fence done and mentioned he was giving her a bid. As he says he can do nothing, I recommend you consider hiring a professional who guarantees that their work. read more

After going to Lowes and only finding moldy/mildew boards, I contacted J&W. They were very helpful and went over all the details for me and set aside the wood I needed. Robert made sure the boards looked good, cut them to size, and helped me load it in my car. Their customer service was friendly and so much better than Lowes. I had a fence project and I went in there on a Saturday with a draft and measurements of my project, guy took a look and typed up all my materials needed and gave me a price, I bought it on the spot and he scheduled a delivery for the following Thursday. Crew arrived and used a forklift to put all the material exactly where i needed and took off. I was missing a small item that i added late in the order and they had to custom order it and their dispatcher Hector went above and beyond out of his way to drop it off at my house late in the day. I have to add, since I am reading other reviews of people complaining, these guys seem legit trying to help but they are also are running a business and I suggest not to go in there completed cluesless of what you are doing because they may not have the time to turn you into a contractor or professional installer on the spot so I dont blame them from being short and to the point. This is by far the best lumber yard in town. Very knowledgeable crew, always happy to help. Prices are comprable to the big box stores, but service is light years ahead. It's very easy to get in and out quickly, I've been coming here since they opened many years ago. Unsatisfactory! I requested appt for quote via yelp. Then Ken called me, we scheduled an appointment for Saturday 9am for him to come take measurements for the quote. On Saturday morning 7:30am, he sent a text saying he can't make the 9am appointment and that he might be down south for something else and MIGHT be available. Very unprofessional! I had a most amazing experience that I never expected. I was calling around looking for a certain type of deck clip that was needed immediately. I explained my plight to Junior (I hope I have his name right) who let me know they could order them in. But we needed them right away and my husband was going to drive out to their distributor to get them. Just before he left, Junior called me back to say that he found them - but at a competitor! He had called around for me and provided my name to this other shop and they were holding the clips for me! I could not believe he would help me out at their own expense.
