Multiple women's review comments expressed how they could get lost in here. So, unless they all love doing home improvement projects; I had to check it out! I'm definitely not the home DIY or fixer upper kind of gal. That said, the store sucked me in and I was thinking of all kinds of projects I could do at home. Designers talk about updating small things, like the handles on cabinets or drawers. Sign me up! The herb section alone would reel me back in. I purchased lemon thyme, which smelled brightly of lemon in comparison to standard thyme. And, it's still thriving. And, the kitties are enjoying their catnip moments. Every little thing about my visit to this store was wonderful. I had to come into this store to buy a stainless steel sink. I called before going and spoke with melly. She was pleasant and let me know that she was going to be there for the rest of the day and to come see her for assistance. Not only was she available but she remembered my call and what I needed. So I made a complaint about my lock Cantina doors and my sliders be in the wrong size after they came out personally and measured them. We're talking over $50,000 worth of doors now all the windows that they came out and personally measured. Are wrong. They are an inch and 3/8 reveal when they're supposed to be the 1 inch so after the stucco went on all my windows are sticking out a half inch past the Stucco they're supposed to be flush when I called and talked to Jordan. He lied to me and told me they only make one size so I called Milgard myself and Millard confirmed that he is a liar and will say anything to cover his and Dixie line's ass they messed up every single window and every single lock Cantina door and sliding door except for one and will not take responsibility for their mistakes blaming my Contractor blaming my installer blaming me when they are the ones that came out and took the measurements in ordered the stuff. Very rude very condescending. Don't trust Jordan don't trust Woody don't trust Dixieline. They will rip you off and give you the wrong stuff not to mention they sold me two doors that were warped and will not take them back as well. Blamed us again. I've worked construction for over 30 years longer than most of those guys have been Alive. Never go to Dixie line. You're taking a big chance of getting the wrong stuff and not getting a refund and just getting burnt for over $100,000 worth of material worst experience ever. read more

Update:02/23/2020 I had a great time in here today I have to admit because the staff are super friendly and very welcoming. Shout out to Mr Enrique, he assisted me at check out and we had a nice little chat. He was nice, professional and a jolly person. I got a compliment on my smile and gave him one back as well! I asked him about the bamboo toilet seat that I was purchasing and he said it was super easy to put on but I should have no issues and everything was inside the package. He offered me a little bag for the tape even though I didn't need it and I told him it's not a problem I'm gonna continue to wear it on my arm like I did throughout the store and save some plastic = ). On my way out another gentleman thanked me for coming to the store along with the female cashier and he gave me a compliment on the perfume I was wearing. Honestly it had been over seven hours since I put it on and I couldn't smell it but it was kind of cool and refreshing to know that I didn't stink and someone thought I smelled good lol The store literally has everything that I could possibly need home improvement wise. When I'm out of batteries I can come here, when I need tape I can go here, keys made here, when I need a screwdriver I come here and when I need a toilet seat and even plants, I go here!!!! There's always ample parking and it's nice to support a business within my community! Initial review: Every time I come in here I get what I need. From keys to be made with lots of nice designs, potting soil, wood glue, etcthey have it. Sometimes I don't wanna take the few extra mins to hit up others stores because this is my local go to spot when I need advice on things. I get my needs met and they get a local returning customer. I don't see this place as wasted real estate space as someone had mentioned. This is a good store, it not only provides for customers in need but it also provides for their employees and families. Therefore, I've had nothing but positive experiences with all personnel. Today's encounter with Aaron in the gardening Dept and the gentleman at the check were pleasant. On my most recent trip: "We no longer cut plywood". What? What kind of "Lumber Center" doesn't cut plywood. On my previous trip: "we don't carry extra long drill bits". This store is down the street from my house and wouldn't it be nice if they could be my go to home remodeling store. But, this Dixieline is more like a small time hardware store than a major home remodeling center. They get two stars because most of the employees are friendly and helpful. From the onset of planning the design/layout of my new black windows a year ago with Andy V. at Dixieline, to the final walk through with A+C once the installation was complete (in just two days!), the customer service was exemplary. The scope of this project was something I had not ventured into before; but throughout the process, all my questions were answered in easily understood terms. Alan took the lead on behalf of A+C, orchestrating his main crew to include Miguel and Zosimo, to work around the entire house at the same time, with efficiency and attention to detail. I love this store! Unlike the HoneDepot where you can't get any help, these guys are always available to answer questions and tell you how to do things. I bought a patio table and chair set yesterday, and I didn't want to bring a big box home, so I asked them if they could take out the parts from the box and load them into my car. They helped me with that, and I brought all the furniture parts home. Unfortunately, there were two missing parts so I called the store thinking they would probably tell me to contact the manufacturer which would take a long time to get the missing parts. The guy who answered the call said his manager would call me in 5 minutes after he finishes talking to another customer. He actually called me in 5 minutes (!!) but I missed his call. He left me a message and I called him back. He said they have two new boxes and they would open one and give me my missions parts. I got there later,and they actually opened a new box of the same furniture set and gave me the missing parts!!! I couldn't believe it! I bet if it were a bigger stores, they would've said I needed to contact the manufacturer. These guys at the Rancho San Diego Dixieline are genuinely always there to help the customers!!! read more

I love, love, love hardware stores and could visit for hours. This location is not close to where I live, but was recommended by my contractor (since he works with them) and suggested I order a custom front door from them. He specifically told me to call Ethel Kinslowe. Well...I must tell you that without a doubt, she is the most communicative person I've ever met; and that's a compliment coming from me!! I stopped in Dixieline to pick a few sprinkler risers and some succulents for my patio. Finding the risers were easy enough because they were in the aisle with all the pipes and such. They keep the plants outside in front of the store, so I left my risers at the front with the nice cashier. They had a descent selection of succulents, and I was happy they had some not to aggressive in the way of spines to choose from. He showed us what we needed, how things worked, and he was also super transparent about how we needed to b careful with some of the new products that he wasn't sure about. He also helped us pick new plants and veggies and how to protect our garden during the colder days. I visited the La Mesa Avocado store to get a quote for 8 x 8 x 20ft pressure treated beams. The employee there was very helpful and gave me the written quote and said the wood was in stock. Two days later I returned to the store to order the twelve of the beams but the worker was not there. A part time manager named John told me that he couldn't sell me the beams for that price and wanted about $160.00 more per piece or about $2000.00. John said he wasn't sure when the wood would be delivered. He promised to call me the next morning. He did not call. So I ordered the wood elsewhere. Two days later John called and said he would sell the wood at the quoted price. He was hoping I would take the bait and call him the day before and pay him $2000.00 more. I am not an attorney but this looks to me like a case of bait and switch. I will be writing a letter to the State Attorney General. I would like to mention that I am a state licensed civil engineer and have work in construction in the San Diego area for 50 years. read more

We went to Dixieline to buy some wood and hinges and dealt with Tyler in the lumber section. He was friendly and very helpful, even carrying the 3 pieces of wood to our car. Home Depot El Cajon or Lemon Grove is MUCH more cost effective to drive to given the disparity in pricing , especially if you are elderly and or on a fixed budget like half my clients on Mt .Helix . Cross referencing by using Home Depot's HomeDepot.com takes 5 minutes and might literally SAVE YOU HUNDREDS OF $$$. P.s. One of those mysterious places that has been around for ever, takes up a huge amount of valuable real estate, employs a ton of completely idle, know nothing, mumbling and down cast employees, is always a ghost town inside, yet has been around forever-they've been here since I was a child and probably decades before that, and if there's a zombie apocalypse in the future, they will probably remain- you certainly won't notice a difference in the customer service then, anyhow. The prices are higher than other stores, items hard to find, and often odd: unusual substandard brands and poor quality. And all of that is supplemented with the off putting store and customer service described above. One of those huge empty stores, where you have to go to some middle of the store station and wait for customer service, and wait. There is even one of those number dispenser things-which is funny since I don't know if I have ever seen another person there. If you don't give up and go home, you eventually get someone who looks like they're in high school, can't make eye contact or speak clearly, and disappears for an even longer time, and then reemerges to act put out to take you to another end of the store in order to find something, and then resentfully disappears again. This place has been clogging my parents' mail with junk mail for maybe thirty years or longer. I actually gave in and decided to take a look, not too long ago, and called about something advertised. Well, their phone service is the same: after being on hold, I got a screaming old man who couldn't understand me and then hung up on me. The advertised price was wrong too, shipping ludicrous. My mother is one of those nice old people from another generation who believed in supporting local businesses, even if they didn't deserve it. I would watch her wade through their abysmal service for some useless over priced item that took forever to find, only to have them treat her like a thief at the door by checking her receipt, no matter how many times/years she had loyally shopped here. The Project Center people are useless, they should be working at HD where product knowledge is not a requirement. I've been shopping here for decades and have learned who to turn to for advice, and they have been invaluable to my success in home improvement. But today, I ran in to the Project Center morons who have seen me many times per week for decades - and they acted as if I'm a stranger and a dufus. The store is okay but small. I only go in there once in a while in a good day before Covid but I refuse to go into Home Depot now. So Dixieline it is. Every time I have been, there is a clerk at the checkout booth With a mask that doesn't fit so it's down around the mouth. I always ask them to pull it up. This is not week one of the mask requirements how hard is it. No that little 2ft wide plastic barrier is not good enough when she's scanning large items. You're a hardware store, even I could make a better barrier. Now after months of mask wearing your mask should fit. I now understand why this location has a three star rating. Wanting to purchase windows through our general contractor but also wanting to see them in person, our general contractor told us to come here. Despite making an appointment, their staff member was late. She had nothing from our general contractor and couldn't give us answers to almost all of our detailed questions. I asked for a follow up measurement and was given incorrect information. Instead of accepting responsibility for their error, they denied they said it (even though the information was provided in an email). I will not work with them again in the future. read more

I signed up online to get a quote to replace my home windows. a representative, Tammy, called me and left a voice mail. i tried to call back and left a message twice, but could not get hold of . after 2 days i get a text to let me know that the earliest available time is in 2 weeks. when i asked for an earlier appointment, i was told that they are booked and dont do weekend appointments. i was annoyed with the lack of professionalism. I saw the garden shop crew in the Rancho San Diego deal very firmly but diplomatically with a mask-refuser whose counterfactual assertions were that 'since this is outside masks are not required' and 'I know I'm not sick so I'm not hurting anyone'. He got very irate but the staff kept their cool, got him checked out as quickly as possible and went on with their work.
