They'll take your money and try and get you to pay for extras you don't need but when it comes time to do what needs to be done they will refuse I have an aggressive dog who sent someone to urgent care attacked 3 other dogs sending one to the vet. I emailed and called over 150 shelters rescues sanctuaries Facebook and instagram rescues etc and NO ONE would take him. I have little children at home and they are in danger. I had no choice so I called 15 vets to ask if they did behavioral euthanasia. This place said they did. But it was a 2 appointment set up. So I brought him in last week and explained the whole story. The doctor had a terrible attitude made me feel like I'm a bad person. She wanted to run blood tests... aka make me pay more money. She said I had to provide proof I had exhausted all efforts to save him and she made me get him drugs more $ and I had to pay for the visit. I was told to bring back the proof next week (today) and they would put him down. I brought over 30 pages of documents showing rescues I had emailed and submitted to Facebook posts and a multitude of groups I reached out too. I even told them that the dog had nipped at me last night. The awful doctor came in with her poor attitude and said she wasn't comfortable putting him down. Used to be a 5 The service here has gone downhill since ownership changed!! Loved the previous doctors, flexibility and hours. That was the reason I switched here from my previous vet of 8 years. Now appointments are scheduled over a week out even if your pet is illl(or take the 24 hour pet hospital)fees are ridiculous as well! I used to recommend them since they were affordable and flexible. This is my second time reviewing this vet after a few years, I see nothing has changed. I made an appointment for my dog who was throwing up because they were the ONLY vet in the area with a same-day appointment available. (telling?) After the exam, they gave me an estimate for $1200 for X-rays, fluids and an anti-nausea injection. The price was literally three times what my normal vet would be, so I took my chances and left with just an exam. Two days later, my dog got super sick again in the middle of the night, so I took him to the ER vet, knowing it was going to be very expensive. To my surprise, the ER vet suggested the exact same treatment, but $475 CHEAPER than San Dimas Pet Clinic. In what world is an ER visit less than a normal vets office?? That is bad practice, and predatory of pet owners who don't know any better but just want the best for their pets. It's wrong. To show that this isn't "inflation"...about four years ago my last dog had a tumor growing on his stomach and I went to San Dimas Pet Clinic (who at the time was my normal vet) and they told me multiple times over several visits not to worry about it. Then one day they tell me it was a mast cell tumor and he needed surgery right away, that it was an emergency. The estimate was close to $6,000. I knew that couldn't be right. I called the rescue where I got my dog and they agreed that was insane, and referred me to a different vet, who did the same surgery for $1,100. That's a big difference. Not only did they do the surgery, but cared about me and my pet and became partners with me over the following three years of cancer treatment, educating me on the type of cancer, the doctor called me frequently to check in, and worked to find the most cost-effective treatments. Something San Dimas Vet Clinic never even offered. They just said, "this is what it is, here's the number, take it or leave it." No compassion, no willingness to work with me, the less I knew the better. Every time I've been in San Dimas pet clinic, I'm paying a premium to see kids who look like they just graduated vet school, and the cost is absolutely criminal. I still can't believe the ER was so much less for the *exact* same thing. Avoid this place. They are greedy, and don't care about you or your pet. I should have learned the first time, but this second time has me pretty furious. Places like this give good small animal vets a bad name. read more

I came to this location today to make my 1st Exam appointment for my 10 week old puppy in order to participate in their online advertisement of $15 off New Customer. VET Dr. POPP refused to honor their advertised NEW CLIENT SAVINGS OF $15, refused to speak with me when I questioned WHY, kept having the front desk girl do his bidding and stayed behind, closed doors like a coward. It is tasteless to be in an industry where you are supposed to be of service and solutions for the well-being of living things and behave as he choose to do today, then teach his staff that same toxic culture. When I said that I would stay in the office and wait to speak to him because I do not want a call back they said that they would charge me for an office visit if I wanted to talk to him . I'm a human you're going to charge me an office visit at Vets when you're not providing my pet a service in order to talk to you about your false advertising and lack of honor in practice? There's so many other good quality vets, and we need to take our dollars to better businesses maybe places like this will then learn through losing money how to better be a better member of the community and servicer to animals. 2 stars because they failed to remove all the staples from my dog after she was spayed - not sure what I was expecting from them after this was brought to their attention, but the "I'm sorry," fell short. As others reviewers have commented, this place is more costly than other vets in the area. As such, one expects a different level of care, and this place failed to deliver. I've also had to inform staff of blood on the floor, and I witnessed a staff member step in fecal matter outside, attempt to clean it off, walk through the clinic, but then never returned to clean or sanitize. Niko our Maltese has environmental allergies & has a vaccine every 3-6 months for discomfort.. last week we went in to have his next regimen & we're shocked to have been told, ' we have been under charged' for along time & now the injection will be $135.00 instead of the $78.00 we have been paying for a few years now.. WHAT??? are you kidding me!!! As I look around & then notice, they have remodeled or re-structured & a complete new staff I've never seen, what in the heck is going on here!!! This place is a literal life saver! After trying 3 other veterinarians we were referred by a friend to this office and they almost immediately knew what the issue was. ALL OF THE OTHER VETS were too busy thinking about the patients age and breed that they ignored VERY OBVIOUS VERY PAINFUL symptoms. I am thankful we found this place. Both vets are friendly enough and knowledgeable, the lady veterinarian has a much better "bedside manner". The only gripe I have is the cost of some services: a little on the high side. But you definitely get what you pay for. While waiting in lobby you will hear stuff like: " well they figured it out and saved my kitty but it was sooo much" (or something similar). [also i do understand the cost of laboratory work is expensive now and am not including things San Dimas pets has no control over] They are very responsive to email and phone calls and even work well with other offices. MARIA in the front is always SUPER FRIENDLY AND UNDERSTANDING and gets stuff done. She really does get stuff done. She displays genuine compassion for paw parents in pain while somehow dealing with pets needs and phone and paperwork and .... The other technician (younger dude from Philippines) is also nice as well as efficient. I say this Only because I am being asked: ONE AREA FOR IMPROVEMENT would be incision length and stitches. Stitches are hard but taking an extra minute and closing fascia layers independently and finally closing dermis would cut down on heal time and infection risk. parapreputial/midline-paramedian incision took a long time to heal. These vets saved "my" cat's life! I had no idea what was going on with my outdoor community cat, but his nose was in bad shape. Thankfully, the doctors here were able to quickly assess and test for CRYPTOCOCCUS. It's a fungus that lives in pigeon feces. We got the results, and we found out from the doctors that it's pretty common in our area for cats that live outdoors. Long story short, our cat got taken in by a foster/adopter and got antifungal medications. See the pictures for his transformation after just 5 weeks of treatment. Thank you, Dr. D for loving on this sweet boy, for answering all of our neurotic questions, and for assisting in changing this boy's destiny and stars. Staff was kind. Very stringent Covid protocol. With each visit I have left completely satisfied and confident that the doctors and staff are more than capable of providing the care my pet needs. They are thorough in their examinations and demonstrate a profound knowledge of veterinary medicine that not many veterinarians have. My dog has been treated here by different doctors and each time she has gotten better in a number of days. I attribute their success to their willingness to get to the root of the problem and not just treating symptoms blindly. One thing I cannot stress enough is that you get what you pay for. In my opinion, their pricing is more than fair considering the excellent service they provide. I received a call from the clinic to discuss my previous review. I called at 2:30pm on 1/17/2022. Melanie was not there. The person who answered said that she would tell her I called. She got my name but no contact information. Before I could say anything, she hung up. This is an example of the service I received previously. Inattentive staff. My dog was misdiagnosed. She was seen on 12/23/2021 by this clinic. By 12/31/2021, I was in an emergency hospital, where they found a bleeding internal tumor. I lost her that day. Dr Dhillon was the one who saw my dog at the San Dimas Clinic. At least that it the Doctors name on her prescription bottles. He brought it up on the computer screen to show she had pancreatitis and an intestinal infection. I cannot even be sure that was my dog. I was charged nearly $800 for the visit/mis-diagnosis. I had to pay more later for my beloved dog to be put down. In short, my dog had cancer. She suffered a week longer than she needed to because this clinic failed in their duty/diagnosis. However, they did all the necessary work to figure out what was wrong with her and gave me my options within an hour. I then decided to keep her there for two days and while she was in their care they kept me updated daily. The facility is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. I needed to write this around a Month ago! I brought my older dog cause her ear was bothering her, when I got there they wanted to do all kinds of test and I agreed! They were saying that she might have cancer! I agreed to do the the test they were playing me cause they knew I would do anything for my dog! After all the test she was fine no cancer. Never did anything about her ear? It's still bothering her to this day! Even they gave me a prescription for flees and ticks needless to say that did not work! I soon found out by their ever increasing prices that they make up by overcharging for everything else. I liked the doctors and the clinic, but can't afford to keep going there, especially right now. My dog was exerting concerning symptoms and I was able to get an appointment easily and ASAP for the next day. They respond to my appointment request in a timely manner and were very kind and informative in taking her in and assessing her condition. She was diagnosed with diabetes, and Dr. Daman was very detailed in what to expect with her condition and gave me detailed instructions on the management, and a technician also taught me how to properly administer her daily insulin injections. Dr. Daman and the technicians were very kind and helpful when treating my Nala, and were very helpful and informative during each check up. Ever since her first visit and beginning insulin therapy, she's doing much better now. Even while waiting in the lobby during our appointments, I noticed how empathetic and sweet the employees were in treating/handling other pets and returning them to their owners. Advice for other pet owners: Please invest in pet insurance. Pet care is very costly, no matter where you go, and unexpected emergencies/health risks can happen at any time. Compassionate, loving and caring, I can't express how truly thankful we are for such amazing care. I have an 11yr old Yorkshire terrier, at age 2 he got pancreatitis and these past 8 yrs other than teeth extractions he's been pretty healthy. Just last week he had a mild pancreatitis flare, I was crushed, he was vomiting for over 24hrs, highly dehydrated and my little guy felt weightless, I was frustrated and a crying mess, called several places and they wouldn't take walk ins. I called this clinic the receptionist was beyond helpful and got Dr. Daman on the phone which he instructed to bring my pet in. We came in and they were very quick to diagnose and discuss treatment. My dog was not well almost at kidney failure, I truly thought I was going to loose him. He was hospitalized and the staff was kind enough to call us and give us updates every day while he was under their care. Upon discharge I was given all the paperwork my pets insurance company required to file a claim. I read a lot of negative reviews on here by previous customers and we did not have a negative experience nor we were over charged. I think the price was fair and for us it wasn't really a problem since I have insurance for my pet. When I spoke to Dr. Daman I felt I could trust leaving my pet under their care, upon discharge the tech was so helpful and made sure we understood the continuous treatment at home. I can't thank everyone enough for their hard work, my dog is now home with us, he's exactly 1 week post hospitalization and doing much better. And they sent us home with $156 worth of charcoal in two syringes which we didn't use or need to use. Then the Dr insisted that we bring.our dog back for a blood test the following day. If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely horrible service. Took in five puppies for their first shots. When I called they said the exam fee would be waived. Get to the vet they take the pups after 20 min come back and say it's X amount including exam fee. So first line of communication down. We ask them to waive it and they say they will ask their manager. They can't. Ok. So we only want two puppies to get their shots with exam. We sign paperwork for two ONLY. They come back and say they they did the exam for all of them and we have to pay for it. LOL!! Like literally "unfortunately you will have to pay for it." First off we only signed paperwork for two and had clear communication on what we wanted. I told the tech they need to waive it because that's their error and we are not paying for it. He then proceeds to take us to private room so that his lead can speak with us. They had us waiting in this room for 15 minutes. The lead come in and says "Yeah so that we don't have any issues we're going to the waive the fees and not perform any services and you can leave." THE ARROGANCE of this place. We literally even talked about giving in and just getting everything done, but they didn't even try to save the business or take CARE of the CUSTOMER. They mess up and we have to pay for it. Wasted our time coming here. Not 1 but 2 instances of error on their end and we are asked to leave? What a joke! As an FYI we went from 5 dogs to 2 dogs getting shots because they wanted to charge us $1200 for all 5. Way too expensive here. Should have listened to other yelp reviews. Because they couldn't get their way they thought they were going to bully us into paying that fee. I will tell all my friends and family never to come here. The disrespect, miscommunication and business handling AWFUL! In response to the below comment from the Manager that wasn't even there sounds like she needs to train her staff. For CLARIFICATION total was coming out to $220 per puppy so $1100 total. And they did not state once the exam fee goes toward services. Not even the lead we spoke to after. Major gap in training. Also to clarify I am not a breeder. This was unexpected hence $1100 being too much for me to spend and why we requested the services we did. So (1) manager doesn't know full background and (2) staff obviously didn't listen. All I have read is excuses which seems to be the culture at this animal hospital. I stand by my original comments. So now I will advise friends and family not to go here and this was potentially 5 new customers (5 new puppy parents) I will advise not come here.
