I've boarded my dog here 3 times and I will continue to do so. It has the best rates around plus her behavior with other dogs improves. I was scared my dog wouldn't do well in boarding because she doesn't like other dogs. However, the staff is well trained and my dog didn't have any problems. This was my first time taking my little pup to American Pet Resort and Spa! I called for a reservation and they got me in the next morning! I signed my Beau in and they took him back immediately! I got the Silver package + a $10 teeth brush! Ever since I got my pup, the breeders made sure they gave him weekly baths, nail trimming (if needed) and teeth brushing! So I want to make sure that I always get his teeth brushed so he stays used to it! I left got some errands done and before you know it I got a call at 12:30 to come pick up my Beau! It was only a 3hr drop off and when I got there he was so happy to see me and in such good spirits! The lady that cut his hair let me know that he did great and was such a good pup! He looks so great and smells even better! I'm overall very happy with how Beau looks and the overall experience! I did read the reviews before calling and was a bit skeptical. My sister used to take her husky/german shepherd mix before she moved out of state and she never had an issue and was always happy with the way her pup turned out! I was worried so I checked in with my dogs mid day and they had put my dogs in a little 2 x 4 area, And had no explanation . I paid for daycare and they were in a small confined space. They allow their staff to argue with the customers . A lot of turnovers with staff and they don't seem to love pets . A bunch of miserable staff . No thank you ! The groomer cut my dogs ear, and we didn't receive a phone call or anything. They let us know during pick up, which to me is extremely unprofessional. I was then told the Owner would be giving me a call...it's been around two weeks and I never received a call. I'm aware mistakes happen, however we should have been notified immediately so we could have picked her up so she's not sitting there in discomfort in the hands of someone irresponsible. Excellent grooming job on our almost 14 year old cat Wiillow. She's getting old, her kidneys aren't doing well, and she's not as able or interested in keeping herself as well groomed as in the past. Jose, who I later learned is the owner, and his staff, did a fantastic job in trimming her nails, bathing her, and cutting off some matting that was forming on her flanks. Simply magical on what they were able to do to our old girl. It was obvious when we got her home that she was feeling much better from the process. I do not normally write bad reviews but I am making an exception because of my concern and love for our fur babies. Do not take your precious family to the man that answers the phone, and grooms the cats. He is rude and hateful. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE? He made me feel like I was interrupting his day when I asked him questions about their services. The rudeness started when I called to try to make an appointment. I had several questions and did not understand what the man on the phone ( Im assuming he's the owner) was telling me about the costs. He was very snappy and bordering on hateful when I was just trying to make an appointment. He was so short with me that I hesitated to schedule but I ignored my instincts and did it anyway. Unfortunately, he was just as bitter and vicious when I got there to drop off my cats. I really should have turned around and left but I needed them groomed before I left town. So I ignored my gut and took them in anyway. I thought he was negative on the phone but.... Much to my dismay, his attitude got even worse ! When I went to pick them up he was so incredibly vile with me about one of my cats. She had scratched him and torn his pants when he tried to groom her. When I spoke to him the first time on the phone I told him she was really sensitive to hair dryers and shavers, so I had asked him not to use them. He was so angry at me because he said I did not warn him about her. BUT, she had never gotten so upset she bit groomers or vets before. He was mad cuz she scratched him but that seems to be an occupational hazard as a groomer ! IF, and im sure this is true, he treated her with the same energy as he treated me, Im sure he upset her. She has PTSD from when she was young because of an abuser and unfortunately, this man had the energy of a bully because he tried to bully me. I'm sure she did not feel safe with him. I feel terrible that she had such an horrific experience. I don't know how the other groomers at American pet grooming are with pets but this man is just a bitter, heinous, boorish, human being that should NEVER have a job in customer service. Yes, my cat scratched him and made it difficult to groom her and for that I am sorry. However, grooming even difficult animals is part of your job ! The writing was on the wall that going to American Pet grooming was not going to be a good experience for me or my cats... I just didn't read it. read more

I took my dog for a grooming Friday. Usually my husband takes her and picks her up. They charged me before bringing her out to me which my husband said isn't their normal protocol. When he takes her and licks her up they bring her out for him to see her and then charge. My dog was cut on her tail, throat and random spots on her body. Little Sprite needed a haircut like, really badly. His hair was much too long and super matted. Took him here and they did a FANTASTIC job! He looks like a puppy again! His fur was so soft and not tangled, and he seemed like he was in a better mood because of his fresh cut. I took my dog to this place for the first time and boy do I regret it. I was okay with my dog staying there the 3-4 hours even with an appointment. Not only did they not cut my dog's hair evenly, she came stumbling, not eating or drinking water. She just wanted to lay down in her bed. We tried to hold her and would cry to the touch of her neck area. For my dog not to want to eat or be wanting to play it is not normal. I called this place back the next day to ask if they drugged up my dog since I did not authorized them to do so. They denied giving my dog anything but I have no proof of them doing so but the one thing I know is that my dog was fine before going there and not the same once she returned. I truly regret not taking some of the bad reviews for them seriously and that's on me. If you are reading this and you are on the fence, go somewhere else. These people are out of their minds. We just recently moved here and I was looking for a groomer. My Australian Shepherd gets groomed once a month ... so I was looking for another groomer well took him to this place and they proceeded to tell me my dog had to be shaved because he was matted.... Not true at all so I decided to take him to another groomer and told her what had happened... she thought they were NUTS. I told her they used a very small comb to show the mats. She then stated that you can't use a cat comb on a dog. She worked on his beautiful coat and stated he wasn't matted at all... his grooming was great... I was gifted a yorkie and his breath was awful! He is the cutest thing but couldn't go by his mouth because of the smell. I took him in to the American Pet Grooming and they took him a bath, had a haircut, and a deep cleaning! After we picked him up his breath did not smell! We are extremely disappointed with the service during our pet's latest visit. The groomer appeared to be very careless while cutting our little guy's fur and there were several nicks on his belly near his private parts. Our usually happy guy is very uncomfortable now and is having trouble even eating because of the discomfort from the cuts. The worst part was how unapologetic the owner was when we complained, saying that yes, cuts happen sometimes. I'm sorry but no, not to that extent. We've taken him to several other groomers and he's never been hurt as much.
