We arrived early, yet many tables were being saved for people who hadn't even arrived, leaving paying customers who arrived early with nowhere to sit. I asked for a manager's assistance and was told there was no policy against saving seats. Although I was told someone would come help at least find 1 seat so I can sit and enjoy dinner and the game at game time, no one ever did. As the evening went on, people brought in lawn chairs, oversized bags from the grocery store with alcohol, and created their own seating areas with little to no oversight. For a heavily promoted event with a large crowd and alcohol being served, I expected visible management and better crowd control. Instead, I was told the manager had taken the day off to watch the game at home. Leadership sets the tone. When there is a lack of structure, people create their own rules. Structure and set rules can create a more orderly environment that may provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for everyone. The evening ended with the TV glitching out in the final few minutes of the game crowd started chanting and complaining then a large fight. During the fight a gun was drawn, people panicked, running and pushing to get out. It was a frightening and chaotic situation. I hope Rodeo X uses this as an opportunity to strengthen its leadership, crowd management, and planning for future large events. I genuinely felt bad for the relatively young employees. They were polite and appeared to be doing their best while managing a packed venue and a bar with a 45-minute wait just to order a drink. They shouldn't have been put in that position without experienced leadership and adequate support during such a large, heavily promoted event. Lastly, I want to give a heartfelt shout-out to the Ontario police officers who responded so quickly. They were able to detain the gunman and others involved in the fight. Their swift response brought a sense of calm to a frightening situation and allowed me to leave feeling much safer.

Yee haw I went with friends down south county to check out the RMV rodeo had a pretty damn good…read moretime and even saw a couple of my fellow hometown rodeo nuts doing some badass bull riding. My only complaint was that the beer line was way too freaking long and the price for a sip of the suds was way too high. But if you're on the cougar hunt RMV is the place you need to be there are more 40+ something single women and divorcees there than anywhere else on the planet! Our game finished up the rodeo with the catered barbecue event at a friends house had a great time and can't wait to go back again next year.

It was really cool to see all the retro-themed exhibits this year, from the "Retro Row" magazine cover section to the toys, teenage bedroom decor, video stores, typewriters, TVs, and more!! There were so many great photo op spots :) It was also interesting to see how much technology has changed over time and how some items are either no longer used at all or are used very differently now lol. As always, we spent time walking around and checking out the different outdoor booths, and a few of my friends even ended up winning some raffles! I also enjoyed seeing all the decorated tables and was especially happy to find the one my friend had entered into the competition. The other art exhibits were fun to look at too, and it was interesting trying to interpret the different pieces haha. As for food, I got to try the Watermelon Candy Chamoy, which I really enjoyed and would definitely order again!! I also tried the Loaded Cheese Fries with Bacon Bits. They were good, but more of a "try it once" kind of thing for me. Lastly, I got to try some Fried Frog Legs from a friend, and much to my surprise, I actually liked them and could see myself ordering them myself in the future. I enjoy the idea of being able to go to different places and sample an item from everywhere lol That's so fun. I basically did that on my recent visit lol I hit the shrimp shack, sticky mango and the pupusa place. All were great! I would eat the shrimp tacos and sticky mango again. Service was good too. The shrimp tacos too a long time, but that's alright. Ambiance is busy and loud. It's a food court, so people are walking around to different areas. This location is located off Haven Avenue and has a large parking lot. Depending on the events it can get crowded and a bit congested. When it's too busy it's probably awesome for the businesses but it creates long lines and difficulty finding seating and outdoor parking. Many of the restaurants have bright colors and neon signs advertising their products. I like that there's a variety of foods to choose from and that some places offer vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian options, which can sometimes be difficult to locate. Overall it's a nice place to visit with family or friends.
