It's hidden and tucked back from the Main Street in a rather industrial area, but it's a beautiful oasis. There were tons of park benches and big tees for shade, and it's also close to a tennis or marina club that has a restaurant, but I don't know if it's members only. There is also a dog park. I used to live nearby, and this would be my go-to place for jogging, skating, and/or just enjoying the peaceful environment surrounded by nature. This was my first time back after at least a decade, unless you count our unsuccessful attempt at taking my bf's boat out from the Wes McClure Boat Launch several years ago when the tide was too low. Not much has changed with this place. Went for a run on Sunday, and took in the sunset views on this beautiful evening, while making my way around the small lagoon at the park. The trail connects to the SF Bay Trail, so there's plenty of options for getting your steps in. The marina was busy as expected on the weekend but not as crowded as it gets during the spring and summer. I like that there are exercise stations along the pathway, as well as a few benches situated among the rocky shoreline. Parking and restrooms are conveniently available on site, too. The place isn't perfect, but it's one of the nicest spots in the San Leandro area. read more

I have been here countless amount of times. I don't know why I'm just now doing a review but here we go. This marina is my go‑to reset. Easy parking most days, wide paths with room to move, and views that hit every time. Late afternoon is magic when the sun throws a bright trail across the water and little planes skim the glow. I do brisk power walks here with a weighted vest, loop the bluff above the rocks, then drop to the flats for a calm cooldown. It feels safe, friendly crowd, and the tide shifts make it look different every visit. Insider tip: skip the public restroom and use the golf course bathrooms across the street. Have been going to the SL Marina since my boys were little. We would take a lunch, have a picnic and fly a kite, play soccer or ride bikes along the loop trail. It was always a good time, usually clean and a great place to cool off on hot summer days. Now, without my littles I go with my husband to walk. Again, usually clean, people enjoying BBQs, walking, biking, relaxing and just enjoying the views. read more

Quality/Quantity - Not sure how the reviews are so high?? Or probably before they stopped dredging...? Only 4 boats today. 3 of which just got put in the water and only one docked in the Marina. In summary, the Marina is closed... No dredging and low tide = NO boats, at least none that will float... The parks, shoreline, community center, golf course, restaurants, parks, trails, "water" views, etc. are all still good. I have been taking my walks here. Atmosphere - See above. Service - Self service. Price - Free. Owner Comment - City of SL is looking into developing 75 of their 950 acres into housing, hotels, restaurants, retail space and hopefully more trails. I grew up here, and have since moved to Elk Grove but have family here so I still come here, the only difference is the marina gone, which is horrible, I remember the Blue dolphin restaurant and fishing out there as a kid, but the Park itself is still great, two parks for families and a mile workout walk course, BBQ, concerts, take your dogs, play golf or just relax under the trees and watch the planes come into the Oakland airport. read more

Big thanks to the San Leandro mayor for not dredging. Boats are now not able to utilize the docks. Really the name should be changed - there is no 'marina' about this place. Probably one of the best parts of San Leandro is no more. I'm not sure it was a good idea - and I didn't vote for that woman responsible for this choice. Mismanagement of all things government 'ist zum kotzen.' Police, city council, mayors - you name it. How did we get here? Twenty years ago this was such a pleasant place. The bay wasn't brown and I enjoyed looking at all the boats. As a kid I was often at the Marina Green with all the boats around too. It adds a little ambiance. Good place to fly a kite. There probably could have been many different ways to save the marina. One idea off the top of my head would be to allow more expensive docks zoned for people to live on their boats for more than whatever the current few days per year is. I'm sure it would have helped chip away at the huge dredging cost. Homeless seemed to be chased out of this general area. Was recently here and saw almost no RVs or boats. Just today happened to notice the Center Street 580 overpass in Castro Valley get cleared of RVs and homeless. Five sherriff were present on my way to Rudys at around 9am with two 'specialty' tow trucks hoovering eagerly off in the distance. As I finished my donut and coffee I went back downtown and noticed the RVs getting towed down B. I've noticed at the docks in LA some people who lived on boats with special permits. These were not junky people - they were adventure seekers who liked to rough it. Not people who need to get towed. I think the solution to the marina was to close it down and build houses. I think that was the tentative plan. I'm not convinced that boats and housing could have been the solution without building houses... But as far as I know all this comes from CA mandates. read more

I know, who doesn't know about San Leandro Marina!?? It's older than most of us, it's something to do with decent views and a nice breeze most days. It's a closer place to enjoy the water outside of the ocean and water is calming. It's a large area that includes some walking trails, several parks, picnic areas, and some long established restaurants. You can even fish here (I don't know anyone that eats the fish or that you can). I'm not big on fishing, but my very first time fishing was here and I caught a small shark of some kind. Good times! Most people come here to walk "The cement ring" as I call it. It's just a cement walking trail that goes in a large circle and everyone walks, skates or moves across/around it one way or another. I generally avoid this area because of all the people. There are several areas at the Marina less populated with great views and that's where I prefer to be. There's a lot to love about San Leandro Marina. 1. A dedicated trail along the shoreline, both for walking/running/cycling (there's even benches along this trail too). 2. Integrated outdoor exercise stations (woot-woot) 3. Dedicated gated, dog park (two - separated by small/med, and large/Xlarge on the other. 4. Tons of free BBQ station with a dedicated table and bench seats and included, your very own trash can, all in the center of the green plush grass. 5. You can play soccer in the middle or volleyball. 6. There's parking all over, both in the lot and on the sidewalk. 7. Dedicated area for private parties near the public restrooms (I was told you will need to make RSVP in advance for this). Note however, weekends this place gets packed but overall, a lot of fun and I recommend you come here to unwind, spend time with family and friends, bring your pets too and enjoy the beautiful sunrise/sunset. If you want to BBQ here on the weekends, you have to reserve a grilling place, and you still have to get here early just to park. But there is plenty of parking here if you don't mind walking. The most popular area is around Marina Park. Kids area, soccer, volleyball, a paved walking/running path that leads all over and eventually to the Heron Bay Nature Trail. This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places to go in San Leandro. I like coming here during the week when it's less crowded and more subdued, when it's more of a laid back vibe. Encourage early risers to get to the park early to enjoy the calmness that is the San Leandro Marina. You can walk the round mile or the longer routes by taking the other trail. There are benches along the way for those to sit and I appreciate the garbage cans along the trails. I usually walk with my morning coffee. The later the day gets - the busier the park gets. It has trails for those on bikes or walkers/runners/joggers. You can go pretty far into Hayward by taking the straight trail. It has a dog park for those with fur babies. It has exercise stations for those that way a little extra workout. The park is wonderful for kids and lots of tables (believe you have to rent through city) Lots of people tend to come to play on the grassy areas. It's kept pretty clean and mostly there is some available parking. Makes for beautiful walks and pictures. read more

Went bike riding at the Marina. Had a great time riding. I saw families enjoying the park area with their kids. I saw people running and walking their dogs. People playing soccer and some people just sitting on a bench enjoying the day taking in the breathtaking views. It's a nice, clean, family friendly and dog friendly area to spend the day. I can't wait to go back and ride again Beware of the ice cream truck/man. I got 2 ice creams and a bottled water and I was charged $8.50. I'm still trying to figure out how that is. The park is kept nice and clean! Lots of trees for shade on a hot summer's day. Located near OAK airport so you'll see tons of planes landing. We used to walk the dog weekly at the end on Pescadero Road until the city turned curb parking there into a red zone. Oh well. 2-3 weeks ago, I found barricades placed to block off vehicle access to much of Mulford Point, but we could still park and walk to there. Yesterday, all vehicle assess to Mulford Point Road and Pescadero Road is blocked off. What gives???? read more

Great views. The San Leandro Marina provides activities of all kind. Plenty of parking lines the entire drive down the full marina area. They provide Pavilion party areas for bbqing and such things. There is aslo a full park for kids to play. The grass is Plush and green for a pic-nic, just watch out for the occasional lazy owner who didn't feel like picking up after her dog. There are plenty of signs that locate waste bags for pets available to which some people ignore. Walking the Marina is a good activity when you just feel like walking. All along the Marina approx. every 1/4 of a mile is an exercise activity the park provides to keep the walk extra interesting, instructions included. I love walking and seeing all the squirrels, it's so many of them everywhere. The views are lovely. When the tide is low enough you can walk out onto a sand marsh connected to the Marina just for exploring and such. Plenty of active fishers line the water's edge hoping to score something big. It's always exciting watching them also. The park provides separate sex bathrooms with a hand full of stalls. Pretty standard with most other parks,smelly and not very clean, but appreciated at least. read more

Pretty nice place. My family and I were invited to a party here. It was held at the sea gull picnic area. Picnic area was covered and had plenty of tables and seating. I think it's in the right location. Parking lot, to the kids play area, open grass field, and the bathrooms. I believe there was about 100 folks at this location. I saw this develop as a park (since the 70's) over the years, I used to play in the playground and ride bikes there. Then I hung out as a teen watching the "submarine races" lol. Spent many times watching the planes take off and land from the Oakland airport. The sunsets are incredible from there. It's a great backdrop for photos. Nice soo pointaves for big picnics and barbecues, you name it. There used to be a great restaurant there, The Blue Dolphin, that had live music and hosted many wedding receptions. It's no longer there. There care still a couple decent restaurants there, but I don't know that they get much business anymore . I moved away but still cann mom e to visit my parents snd we would take my kids to play, ride bikes, and feed the ducks. Now, I still find myself coming with my parents or friends who live in the area. It has some great walking trails Ali g the water. My favorite one starts on the side near the dog park. They've recently began renovations here. I've always loved this park. It's therapeutic for me! From the nice walk, the parking lot where I use to drive and just park with my man, look out the sun roof and just talk, vibe. They have 3 total parks. 1, dog park. 2, youth park. 3, toddler park. In between youth & toddler park is a sand box, with 2 sets of volleyball poles (you just need your own volleyball net!) super cool. And the rest is a nice big grass area, where you can play football, soccer, maybe fly a kite! Right before the walk around the water they have a few exercise machines! Nice touch. There's also a golf course! I love bringing my daughter here, and will continue to do so as long as I live in the Bay. read more

Been living in San Leandro for 6 years now. It's funny how it took a pandemic for us to discover this gem. There's a paved and "off-road" path to go around the bay. Good for biking, roller skating or skate-boarding. There are exercise pit stops for those who are there for fitness, but were just really there for a breath of fresh air and take the kids out for some change of view. There are picnic tables, lawn for sports or just hanging out, a sand box for volleyball or for sensory play for toddlers. There's always something for everyone! But my favorite is when it's low tide, we can walk over to the little island, before it gets washed away by the tide. Parking is challenging but if you don't mind walking for a little bit more then it should be fine. read more

There's a paved path for runners, which is where I spend most of my visits; there's a spot for dogs, both big and little; there's a 1-mile loop and then there's the actual Marina Park with tons of green space lined with a paved walk way, picnic spaces and two play structures. The views are absolutely beautiful on every path, there are two parking lots and street parking and the best part is that it's super safe! If you need fresh air and a good walk, this is still a great place. There are some inconsiderate people buzzing by with loud motorized scooters but they are mostly unsupervised youth. The Bay is beautiful with a clear shot at seeing planes land. The squirrels are back and very fat so walkers must be feeding them. I always take walnuts or bread ends for the birds. I'm going back today, I'll add a photo to this review later. You have to search for parking along the street but its worth it. The parking lots are blocked off for now. read more

Beautiful and lively. The San Leandro Marina has pretty much everything you can ask for when it comes to the outdoor enthusiast. Scenic trails right by the water for the daily walker, bike rider, or jogger. A park for the kids and a park for the doggos. There are also enough benches for short breaks on your excursion. Private parking lot makes it easily accessible. Great for the community! We came during sunset on a Saturday in December. It was nice to get some fresh air whilst also admiring the view. I'm not sure how I've lived in the bay my whole life and yet, this was the first time I made my way out. Totally recommend for more than just a casual stroll if you're in the area. Make it part of your routine to visit. Maybe set up shop for a picnic when the weather gets warmer. I totally would. read more
