I placed a to-go order and ended up waiting about 45 minutes for a semita and two orders of tostadas. Unfortunately, the food was cold by the time I received it. I also noticed that the semita was unusually small, especially considering these sandwiches are typically known for being generously sized. I initially thought it may have just been an off day, but I've consistently heard similar experiences from friends and family as well. For dessert we had the tres leches cake, which was nothing to really right home about but wrapped up the night well. Ambiance - Its great for small or big groups and its definitely a casual environment. Big room with several tables, at the front you can check out their beverage selection (get yourself some sugar cane sodas PLEASE) and their desserts. Its got a bit of a cheesy vibe but they make it work. Plenty of street parking in the area! Price - $ - Food is pretty cheap here and the quantity is HUGEEEE. No one else makes this quantity of food. If you really like flavorful Mexican food, you will love this place. They bring out the "nachos" with the refried beans and fresh cheese on top while you're waiting for your main meal to come out. They have red and green sauces - I really liked the spicy green sauce. We tried out a few things - lots of tacos (pork, lamb, and chorizo). The pork was my favorite. I'm glad we tried the lamb, but it was too fatty and chewy. The chicken enchiladas with the mole were sooo good. I would go back just for the smoky and delicious mole sauce. The rice and beans served with it were pretty good. The torta was a little disappointing. It was served on a baguette instead of a torta roll. I'm glad we tried it, but I wouldn't get it again. The food is good, but don't expect your food to come out really hot. Despite some misses in the food, I think overall, this place had some dishes that are worth coming back for. Unrelated, but in terms of location , this place is located in a not so great part of NJ (Camden). You can park right on the main road or a side street and not be too far from the restaurant. This place is such a gem in the city of Camden. I stopped going to Chipotle in favor of the burritos at San Lucas. I usually get either the chicken quesadillas or the chicken burritos. The burrito here is my ultimate favorite. It comes with pico de gallo, green salsa, and red salsa. With price and size of the portions you end up leaving very satisfied. Everything is fresh, from the soft& savory chicken to the vegetables - i always enjoy getting burritos here. Recently I opted to try the carne asade especial which was also very tasty, but I prefer their chicken dishes to their beef. The parking around here is also a bit more accessible than other places in Camden. read more

Tacos again... this time Al pastor Tacos! And street corn... so coming here was a bit of an adventure... it's a place I've passed before but wouldn't have thought anything of it... we didn't come to sit in we ordered from outside the restaurant... we went strictly for the Al Pastor tacos... while we were waiting to order decided to get some corn which is opposite the grill. It was hands down the best corn I have in recent memory period... as I write this, I think I'm going to take the drive to get some now... luckily it's not too far... I'm seriously considering it... so as we were waiting to order not only did I get to see them change the meat which is a definite sight to see but we also saw them making a sandwich which looked amazing... we looked at each other and knew we had to add that to our order... we probably waited a while but honestly it didn't seem like that long because I was mesmerized by just everything going on back there... the huge spiral of pork, pineapple & lime... the Tortas and tacos being made... the tortIllas being prepped... loved it... on and the smell of it all... so once we ordered and watched our food get prepared we kind of both look at each other with excitement... we got our food and it's one of those orders where you are like ok so some had to hold the food the entire way how and guard it with their life... luckily it's a straight shot home... meanwhile the car is being filled with all the goodness that's too come... so first the tacos... they are no frills all flavor... spritz with some lime and top with some sauce and it's a party come to life in your mouth... I thought I was at peak... that is until I tried the sandwich now this bread is like a roll/cross iant/pretzel... it's so soft and sweet and crisp... it's seeded I don't even like seeded buns in my experience they add nothing... in this instance it adds everything... then the meat the same meat as the taco meat we stuck with the Al Pastor all the way so it's the same flavor, but it's not, it's perfected! I ate it plain and in silence... nothing need to be said but wow... and on that note.. I'm heading to San Lucas... maybe I'll catch a flick this time but no promises :) read more

I really can't give San Lucas any fewer than five stars. As annoyingly superlative as this will sound, it's simply the best Mexican food I've ever had. Their bright, picture-filled bilingual menu is full of amazing dishes. It's hard to choose, there're so many things to pick from.
