The only reason that this isn't a 5 star (yet), is because I've only been there once. I want to make sure their greatness is repeatable, but wow, what a great mexican meal. Located on the main strip on Haddon Ave, we wound up here quite by accident. When we walked in, and it was funeral parlor empty. The inside is nice, spacious and super clean, but zero customers had us feeling "uh oh." But our server came around the corner and ushered us into an adjoining room, equally as nice, that had a few other patrons dining. Fears alleviated, we sat down and got to ordering. The menu is great, with something from everyone. We got the birria burrito for me, lobster tacos for the Misses, mac and cheese for the Little One, and a side of Sweet Plantains for everyone. FIRST, god lord almighty....them sweet plantains are MAGICAL! They taste like French Toast. OMG......SOOO good. The rest of the food had an extremely high bar to live up to, and it did. Everything was fast, fresh and delicious. Even the price was tolerable. Our server was extremely nice, though I wish he would have written stuff down, as we had to remind him a couple of times about our requests. No biggie. We will, 100% be back, and if it's anything like last time, I have a feeling Paloma will be moving onto the 5-Star list quickly. read more

Visited the establishment on Sunday morning for the first time after seeing a few reviews online. The restaurant was not busy but the service was very slow. Took a long time for the food to arrive and then we still had to wait for chicken tenders to come out for my daughter. The food was okay. But not really worth the wait. I did notice a table walk out and kind of wish we would've too. The chilaquiles were ok the tomatillo sauce was too bitter. The tacos were okay but nothing special. read more

For brunch at Paloma Restaurante I got the Huevos Rancheros and a started of Yucas Fritas. The two sunny side up eggs paired delightfully with the ranchera sauce and pico de gallo. A very filling meal, I did wish to have a couple more pieces of avocado to more evenly spread across each bite. The yuca frites were nice and thick, and tasted great with the chipotle aioli. I really enjoyed the large open windows framing the restaurant. On a nice day the extra sun was delightful. Bryon brought us into the street side dining area and it is very nice. Wife Just needed a snack to hold her over till late lunch. So she ended up with avocado and chips which were terrific. Fresh and delicious Me, my snack was the farmers omelette with bacon on the side. Well I certainly enjoyed it and it came with breakfast potatoes and I would have ordered them by themselves they were so good. My omelette was equally delicious . Paloma is a great little spot right in the main strip of Collingswood. I love a classic Mexican joint, but I appreciate that Paloma ISN'T that. It offers a casual yet elevated boho desert feel inside, almost like something you would find in Philly. The atmosphere truly sets it apart from other places in the area. They have a solid menu, with classics like birria tacos and guacamole, but also with nice additions like ahi tuna guacamole (which is unexpectedly delicious!). They also have delicious margarita mixes (BYO tequila) - I thoroughly enjoyed both the prickly pear and the Paloma. Service is always attentive and friendly as well. My only issue with this place is that while the atmosphere is cute, when you dine in the evenings, they keep the lighting too bright. Get some dimmers on the lights and it'll be 10/10! Also I've always had good meals here, but last time I was here my go-to (the veggie enchiladas) were a bit hard - almost seemed like maybe the tortilla was stale? The ends were inedible which was disappointing as I'd had a great meal every other time. I wish the best for this place, as it can be pretty empty sometimes in there, so I hope they do well! read more

Friendly staff that sat us quickly. Food came out incredibly fast, and we were here for Cinco De Mayo so that was a pleasant surprise. The spicy tuna guac was really good, not the BEST spicy tuna I've ever had but still good. I got the birria tacos and was a little disappointed I think u would've liked them more with some extra cheese and salt but the dipping sauce was great. My boyfriend go the green salsa enchiladas and those were delicious. The seats were a bit close together but it was cute and i really liked how they have all the windows propped open and fresh air came in. Super cute spot! My friends and I met here for dinner when we were all in town and had a great meal. We loved the assortment of $5 nonalcoholic margaritas and how nicely they were presented (we each tried a different flavor). The guac was delicious and a very large serving! PALOMA, COLLINGSWOOD, NJ I had planned to host a dinner party for 6, with a Spanish Seafood Paella as the main course. Due to fatigue from a recuperated illness, I realized that while I was not up for cooking this dish, I could certainly host my friends at a restaurant. I looked locally for a restaurant with good reviews that listed paella on the menu, and found Paloma's in Collingswood, NJ. I called on a Thurs for Sat. dinner reservations, and spoke with the manager/amazing chef Ernesto. He was willing to take our reservation, where I pre-ordered the Paella for 6, and asked him to choose 4 appetizers. We had an AMAZING meal! First, we didn't have to make choices, though that was an option. The appetizers included cauliflower, wonderful, shrimp ceviche, yum, guacamole and steak nachos...they were all devoured! Second, Ernesto prepared the food himself and everything was so fresh tasting, shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, and the saffron flavor in the rice was perfect. I don't personally eat clams and mussels, but I did that Sat night, they looked and tasted so good and had just the right texture! We had their flan for dessert, again, delicious! Due to my greediness with the appetizers, I took some Paella leftovers home, and they reheated perfectly. All in all, we had a wonderful meal at a reasonable price. This would have cost more than double the price at a city restaurant and would not have tasted as good!. We will certainly be back, I encourage you to try it! read more

Was torn between a 3 and 4 star review...Maybe went in with too high of expectations. The restaurant itself is very nice, bright and inviting and large. I would recommend reservations. The service was great, there are plenty of servers and helpers to make sure you're happy. The food had some highs and lows. The chicken eggroll was very good. Flavorful and crunchy with great spice. The tuna and guacamole was another star. Very good, fresh and delicious. The fried cauliflower was good except for the occasional piece that was overly salted. Steak fajitas were good. The enchiladas were fine, and the carnitas steak all good. Not mind blowing, but good. The paella was huge! We were told afterwards that it is usually for 2 or 3 people. I came here with high hopes, as I do love Mexican cuisine and while all forty seven of Collingswood's Italian restaurants are lovely, there is a bit of a gap in terms of other types of food along this stretch of Haddon Avenue. Paloma is a nice looking place, seemed very clean, everything on the menu was spelled correctly (I'm trying to think of nice things to say), and the menu has a reasonably array of choices. The food was very meh. Nothing was bad or particularly good. Very average, the quality of stuff you could probably find at basically any restaurant. Nothing was bad - so you're not going to refuse to eat anything and start contemplating your life choices. But it's a very forgettable place. Service was average to slightly above average. My wife and I agreed that it's the kind of place you would come back to if your friends were already going there and you wanted to join them. Absolutely fantastic! My husband and I go to Philly a lot for gourmet Mexican: Condessa, Cafe y chocolate and Nemi. This place is closer and well deserved of a gourmet rating. Huge pocket doors were opened for a nice view and felt like we ate outside. The waiter was fantastic. I wish I got his name. We started off with him making us a homemade lemonade with actually fresh strawberries! Great drink. Cesar salad was huge for the price. It includes shaved cheese, cherry tomatoes, avocado and tortilla strips. Romaine was very fresh and crunchy. Guacamole with fresh raw tuna was great and a big size. Fried cauliflower florets were the bomb. Great spicy sauce sprinkled on top. Corn on the cob was delicious. The steak with corn purée was killer good. Sliced sautéed peppers in that dish were amazing. Homemade Très Leche cake was soaked in sweet cream and was one of the highlights; a must get. My girlfriend and I were very excited to see this restaurant opening in our neighborhood and decided to set a reservation for a busy Friday night. We were late for our reservation but the hostess promptly sat us. The restaurant was especially busy and we were placed in a corner table that was easy to overlook. The ambiance was enjoyable, at one point we noted it was a bit bright and a few minutes the lights in the dining area were dimmed which was nice. We got our appetizers placed and our wine glasses for our BYOB wine and the appetizers came out at a good pace. However, we ended waiting for a bit after finishing our appetizers before our server came back to take entree orders. We asked the hostess who sat us if our server was available to take our entree order and given how long we had already been sat, she profusely apologized and promptly had our server over to order and said the order would be on the house. We expressed there was no need for this but she insisted. Our order included the calamari appetizer and elote corn, both of which were excellent. For entrees we ordered enchiladas and pollo a la brass which came quick, fresh, and phenomenal. To top off the evening we were given a dulce de leche desert which was to die for. As it is their first week, we expected some hiccups on the service side until they hit their stride, but the food exceeded our expectations, especially for the price point. We will be back for dinner and look forward to trying their brunch. The hostess/part-owner Aurora was excellent and very accommodating. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The service was alright but server tried to upsell in every item, I will say most of the tacos were good but the sides that were outrageously expensive lacked flavor. We came for a friend's birthday and told the wait staff it was their birthday and were given churros, which was very nice. Food was average and overpriced. Not tons of options either. Portions were somewhat small especially for the price. No chips and salsa included. My fiancé ordered the chicken fajitas and the accompanying sides were served in plastic containers on a metal tray. It felt as if the food was from a chain restaurant and not a local business. Service wasn't the best. I ordered birria tacos and el pastor tacos were brought out instead by mistake. No problem accidents happen. The waiter said he would take the tacos off the bill all together which was very nice and unexpected. When it came time for the bill to come out, he brought out a bill for the wrong table and charged our card for it. He then took about 15 minutes to return with a new receipt and needed to void the charge. The tacos were never taken off the bill on the receipt. I ended up not saying anything since it had already taken up so much time getting a receipt. Lots of other great options in the area that offer things Paloma does not. He brung out true authentic Mexican flavor, a Mexican can be proud of. The barria tacos, the mole chicken, and the steak fajitas are fundamental plates in a Mexican restaurant, but here at Palmoa, I promise they have a flavor you'll want to come back over and over again. The aquas frescas are also made traditionally, not the easy way. Real rice and cinnamon, grinded to a fine powder and juiced to a delicious true horchata drink. The aqua de jamaica is also made with real hibiscus flowers and very refreshing, not too sweet. The new owner, also brings out bold plates such at the salmon with a succotash that will blow your mind. As well as the lobster tacos, the fried cauliflower appetizer, and Gluten Free plates, such as the chicken Tinga! The ambiance has a relaxing music/color scheme along with a cozy lighting. The service here is phenomenal, much respect towards the customer needs.
