San Marcos remains our favorite Mexican restaurant after living in Danville for nine years. The tortillas are to do for. The menu is huge, and everyone is very friendly. The decor is beautiful, full of bright colors and huge paintings. On our most recent visit my husband had his usual choripollo. I had the pollo Sinaloa, which is absolutely delicious. We came here for lunch and were sat immediately in a booth, which is what we requested. As I was sitting, I put my hands on the table, and it was soaking wet (see photo). It was so gross. I notified the hostess who had someone dry the table. 1 star deduction. Our drinks took a little longer than I expected. But the waiter came back and told us there might be a slight delay and it wasn't too bad. No deductions, It wasn't unreasonable. Our meal arrived quickly and our food was good. Excellent service and excellent quality for take out. I tried this family fix meal special that was recently launched and I highly recommend this as an option for families. I was very impressed, when compared to Texas Roadhouse family meals, San Marcos is the winner. My food was hot and fresh directly from the restaurant to my kitchen table. 10/10 recommended. This was my first restaurant we went to when I moved to Danville. Great food! I love the designs in the outer windows and doors. They have a very comfortable patio. I get migraines from chemicals and their floor cleaner is very strong. So the patio is a great option. They are also my go to restaurant when I get Door Dash to the house. They have amazing home made corn tortillas. They also have a fabulous chicken soup that I always get delivered if I have a cold. read more

I'd like to start by saying the restaurant is in an area of an up an coming casino & was what we found open late & recommendation of Yelp. I appreciate the recommendation, the place is inviting & we did show up about 35-30 min before closing. When we walked in there was a hostess stand but no one there, took a minute for someone to show up. They had beautiful decor on the wall (wish I had taken more pics). The menu was extensive & they had an very nice separate drink menu as well. The waitress started off well, when I wasn't sure what to order to drink, she pointed out the drink special for the day was jumbo margarita for $3.99 on the rocks or frozen & you could get different flavors or even mix flavors. We were served chips & salsa. We ordered our food & it didn't take very long at all. Before that all happened she checked on us a few times & was doing great. Once we received the food, we needed hot sauce & lemon, and she was no where to be found. It took us a while to get someone. Then we wanted more drinks, same kept waiting & waiting & nothing.... We got up & she was just hanging out away from us on her phone & we literally were just standing trying to get her attention for a good 5 minutes & she never looked at us. Once she got off her phone, she walked away towards the kitchen. I then had to walk to the register to see if I could get help, & stood in line. She came out & found me there, I asked for another drink. She advised me the bar was closed although I looked over & there were people still at the bar clearly having drinks. They close at 10 & it was still about 7 minutes to 10. I went back to my seat. She then proceeded to apologize & state she could ask the bartender if he could make it & we said that would be nice. She came back & stated he had already cleaned everything & couldn't. Here's my thing.... Most to make good sales would come and say "would you like another drink, the bar will be closing or last call" more revenue for restaurant right!! Also, better tip for the waitress. All in all this dropped my rating because the service was crappy. Unfortunately, I don't recall her name. I don't have a complaint about the food, as it was delicious. The fish was cooked just right, not dry at all & tasty, with deliciously seasoned veggies. My taquitos dorados were nice & crispy & full of flavor. I wish they would provide some authentic Mexican hot sauces with it. I think management should keep a better eye on employees that are on there phones not tending to customers, she totally missed out on what would have been a very good tip!! read more

One of my favorite Mexican places in Danville. Came with friends on our last night and shared a few different dips: guacamole, queso con chorizo, and plain queso. All were very good, but the chorizo dip was the best. For my entree, I got the Steak San Marcos and it was very good. Not super thick, but seasoned and cooked to order. Came with a bunch of grilled shrimp/veggies and rice; totally satisfying. Service was good too. read more

I'm generally done with Yelp and it's SJW-pandering racism BS, which is racist toward everyone but one select group. However, I had to update my review on this place after yesterday's meal. I took my Mom shopping in Danville and she wanted some Mexican food since we haven't been able to do that together since March. I planned to just get a to-go order but they had an outdoor patio with tables that were well more than 6ft apart, so I thought it would be safe to eat-in, and it was a nice sunny day as well. Our server was prompt with menus, chips and drinks, and he was very engaging, chatty even. He and all other employees we encountered were properly masked. Now the reason for the update. They have added cochinita piblil to the menu, which is pork cooked down in citrus juices, vinegar and achiote inside a banana leaf. I've not seen it on a menu around here before. It normally comes with pickled red onions and habaneros, but they had jalapeno instead which is fine as I imagine habaneros aren't as easy to source in Danville as they are in the Yucatan. They also had house-made thick corn tortillas to go with it. Sides of green, slightly spicy salsa and radishes came with it as well. This is the only American-ized Mexican place I've ever looked forward to going back to because of the handful of authentic dishes sprinkled around the menu like pibil, al pastor, lengua, huaraches and elote street corn. Mom can still have her chicken quesadilla and feel like she's had something exotic past her Southern Food standards and I don't have to suffer thru the usual canned and bland garbage. read more

Your average sit down Mexican restaurant. It's on par with similar restaurants in the city, but not my favorite. I do come here from time to time when others want to, otherwise I'd go to my usual spot. I will say they probably have my favorite Mole Sauce compared to the other similar restaurants. I always order something with it on it! They have pretty good service too. They're just something about San Marcos that doesn't quite live up to a certain Mexican restaurant in town. I came a few months ago, and the salsa tasted like ketchup, the queso tasted like it came from the grocery store, the quesadillas were just meh, and the waiter seemed annoyed by our mere presence. then I dared to try it again today and the food was better, but they got my order wrong (charged me for a whole meal when I specifically asked for one taco, and he even asked for clarification and I mentioned it again when he brought it out), but he wanted to charge me for the whole thing and argue with me that that was what I had ordered and then he kept my leftovers, which is fine because I didn't want 3 tacos to begin with, but he also kept my guacamole that I *did* want and order. I visited San Marcos with some friends last weekend and we shared 3 of the new entrees on the new fusion menu: Pozole, Patitas de cerdo, and the Perro Mayor. I no longer live in Danville but when I'm visiting that area and I was down a couple of weeks ago because my cousin was getting ready to return to college, and I made a point to visit the restaurant while there. Amazing!! And I know we have all eaten Mexican food all over the place! This restaurant is top notch! The Picaguaca - or fresh guacamole is full of chunky guacamole, fresh tomatoes and onions with a splash of lime! The Chimichanga is small but there are two and plenty of fillings! It's my second time coming to this San Marcos and the salsa and tortilla chips are WAY better than the ones in restaurants in Eden. Ive been craving Mexican for a while and got the ACP with zucchini in the dinner portion and it hit the spot completely. The zucchini was cooked to perfection and the chicken and rice was perfect as well. There was a good amount of cheese on it and I honestly have nothing bad about this place. Danville's Mexican food is on point. Reasonably priced. I didn't give it 5 stars bc I still am disappointed with their to-go food. I will update once I order again and see improvement since I know they are usually busy and to-go food can't be "fixed" as easily as food ordered in house. Tip: I will say that we enjoy getting the fajitas and having left overs to make burritos with and stuff them with just about every leftover on our table and it has always been DELISH.
