This is an interesting and cozy rock and roll hotel. The room was really decked out for a swanky party - I think the design was really for couples since the bathtub is not too far from the bed in an open floor plan and doesn't much for privacy (even the toilet and bathroom is closed off by a frosty glass door). There is also a cozy roof top and bar which is a bit small but decorated very nice. The hotel has its own restaurant that is next to the lobby front desk. It provides a decent hot breakfast and their dinner menu is also decent. Their fish & chips, lobster, and lamb was decent as well. They do have a very friendly and helpful staff that were accommodating of a late checkout. The only things that were a miss for me is that hallways were filled with big couches that narrowed the walk path and made it tough to your luggage through. The other concern is that walls seem to be a little thin but it was relatively quiet late at night. The main appeal is that this is a decent eclectic hotel for a reasonable price in the middle of downtown and within reasonable walking distance to the main shopping areas and tourist attractions. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit. read more

I'd stay here again in a heart beat. It's an older building that's received a complete face lift. Yes, the floors may creak a bit, rooms are small and the lift is slow but it's Europe! It reminds me of a W Hotel's stylishness, a little rock, a little zen, lots of glamour. Black wall paper, velvet, leather, chrome, skulls, crystals. I got a great deal on Jetsetter for $200 a night, woot woot! My room faced out back, looking at a modern office building. Not the best view but quiet. The bathroom was a good size, with a free rainfall shower head in one corner. Since there was no shower door or curtain, water pretty much gets all over the floor but they do provide slippers you can use to not get your feet wet after. Be sure to check out the roof top bar. Drinks are pricey at $18 but delicious. Small bites are served too. Location can't be beat. Less than 10 minute walk to Picadilly or Oxford Circus stations. Lots of restaurants, pubs and shopping nearby. Definitely more of a trendy/posh neighborhood. Breakfast was also great. It's a buffet for about $12 or you can order a la carte. They even toasted me some gluten-free bread and cooked me some oatmeal to order. They have several gluten-free vegan cereals to chose from as well as fresh fruit and almond or soy milk. The coconut chia muesli they buy from Whole Foods is tha bomb. I went back for three refills. American coffee is also fantastic. Restaurant was also peaceful and quiet. Nothing worse than starting your day in one of those hectic and noisy hotel breakfast rooms, ugh! You will leave her feeling zen. read more

The only reason we found this place was because they had a stall out on regent street last Sunday at the Regent Street Summer Fest. We had already had a heavy brunch before strolling on this street and none of the food options could entice us to eat anymore but the offer of free cocktails from Karma Sanctum Soho was worth trying. We filled out the form and were told that we would have to walk up to their hotel bar on the next street to have our cocktails. The street the hotel is on is just parallel to regent Street, but an extremely quiet one. The bar was just at the entry. The hotel had a slightly run down feel to it and it looked like most of the customers who had come in, were there to redeem their free cocktails. 2 cocktails & 2 mocktails were on the menu that we could redeem from. I requested the blackberry with egg white one and my cousin asked for the mojito. I loved my drink, but she found hers too sour. The experience didn't induce us to buy anymore drinks. She used the washroom and said it was very fancy, I found the food theme photo shoot on the bar walls interesting, but I don't see myself going back. read more

This is not somewhere you stay if you are being frugal wi the wallet as the hotel is boutique, very funky but also pricey. I've stayed here a couple of times now, the first time I had the benefit of meeting one of the owners ( manager of Iron Maiden ) and ended up drinking up in the rooftop lounge until the small hours which was like being in an extra in a rock documentary. The rooms are exquisitely appointed and priced from 'gulp' to 'omfg' rates. My latest stay we also used their facility for a customer event and it lends a great style and attitude to the day, catering was good, the cinema was big enough for a fair few seats. My personal favorite thing from this is that on room service you can actually order an electric guitar and amp... What the hell is hat all about :-) Anyhow, if you want a special weekend in London and want to stay somewhere with a different twist AND Witt he likelihood of bumping into a celeb or two then this is a highly recommended place to stay. read more

Darling hotel with fantastic central location. We were Warmly greeted by friendly staff. They were very accommodating and helpful. My father recently had knee replacement surgery and the owner Mark went out of his way to switch him to a room that doubles as a disabled room. This way my Dad can sit while showering - courting are electric and room is larger for him to get around more easily. Mark was beyond kind and empathetic to the situation and you can tell customer service is the priority at this hotel. They have a very hip rooftop bar and jacuzzi as well as a restaurant where hotel patrons receive a 20% discount. The rooms are miserably decorated and the linens are good quality. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is very nice. I would absolutely stay here again. I appreciated the personal attention and special interest that comes with a smaller hotel where the owner takes pride in his customer service. read more

I'm not sure about some of the other reviews because this has been hands down one of my favorite hotels out of the last 16 countries I've visited these last 18 months! The ambiance is super unique!! It's quaint, different, jazzy and an all around great experience. It has an old school kind of feel with a new world elegance sprinkled on top. Amazing artwork strategically and thoughtfully placed throughout all the hall ways and an all around great vibe. Once you enter the hotel room (albeit small but a very decent size for a European hotel!) you feel like a bit of a rock star! Really nice bathroom, cute furnishings and a very comfy bed. It's like a perfect mix between a quintessential rocker musician from anywhere between the late 60s to the mid 90s with a perfect balance of elegance and flare. The price was very very reasonable as well. I cannot comment on the restaurant however they seemed to have a good brunch deal for the weekend. Excellent location, good staff, amazing ambiance and outstanding rooms. As a Canadian traveller on a budget I was able to afford it and I would absolutely recommend it (as well as stay again!). read more

Wonderful hotel and very expensive - but I wasn't paying. Great location, so near all the major tube stops and a short walk to Berkley square. The bar area is as some have mentioned very rockstar, but sometimes that description is lost on me... Some rockstars smell of vomit and have poor bowels due to excessive toxin use. Some rockstars are now sober and still very cool, so I will go for the latter rockstar with this place, the Eric Clapton of hotels if you will. Staff are professional and efficient. Food is very impressive too. If you can afford it, stay here. read more

Went for gentlemens afternoon tea with 3 friends. Service was poor. Exceptionally overpriced. Food was ok. For £50 (+12.5%) per head (+ any drinks) for afternoon tea. You have relatively high expectations. Which were not even nearly met. My friend was late, so they offered to not bring the food until they came. Great! We ordered beers (no offer of any tea... Which was on the menu, gentleman to drink tea!!), but one friend ordered a water to which our waitress said "really!?" And smirked. Then my friend came. But our food didn't. We waited 15 minutes before asking a different waiter for it. He then brought it the 1 metre walk from the pass to our table. Food was ok. Nothing special. Then we got our "tankard of jack Daniels", which was in actuality, a glass of jd. No offer of tea or coffee. Then we got given our bill and cigars. No attempt to sell us the nicer cigars. We were offered to be shown upstairs. We say yes. She the. Walked off and started chatting to colleagues behind the bar. We waited but then just found our own way (the lift needed a card to make it work. Thanks reception guy!) Roof terrace was super busy. We found two tables inside (with ashtrays) but were told we can't sit there. Despite the reservation not starting for an hour. So we stood outside. The left. All in all it was £65 for a beer, a jack Daniels, a poor cigar and not enough food that has the "lets make portion sizes small and charge more" feel about it. There are lots of afternoon teas on London. I've done several and this was by far the worst. Huge waste of money. Don't bother read more

The service at the bar is terrible as needed to serve myself. Perhaps understaffed? The drinks were good however. The snacks described were not what was served. The Happy Hour apparently depends on the bartender to recognize the time when a drink is ordered versus when he actually gets around to making it and billing it out. Not friendly staff. Mixed feelings about this one. Stayed here for three days, wasn't that great but there were some positives too. Some positive things: - Bed was really comfy and big; - Nice rock & roll decor (if you're into that, otherwise you might find it too dark) which is different and I thought was cool; - Staff was very friendly; - Great neighborhood in London - tons of restaurants, bars and shops including the big shopping streets around the corner. We skipped the metro and just walked mostly; The not so great: - WiFi didn't work on most occasions; - TV would only work if you were holding the remote up to a foot away from it - so no switching channels or adjusting the volume from the bed or anywhere else besides standing in front of it; - Decor started to look a little worn out here and there, such as stains on the carpet, chips in the bathroom door, cracks in the sink and the bathroom floor really needed a good scrub; - The last thing which was most annoying to me but not the hotel's fault was that all night there was noise coming from the streets - people partying and drinking until 3AM and then until 4AM the people who work at the bars closing up and yelling at each other. I maybe only got about 3 hours of sleep every night between 5-8AM. So I think that if you're looking for something different, love rock music and go out yourself until 3/4 AM then this hotel will be great for you (I should add the hotel also has a rooftop bar open at night). Already booked this hotel? Get yourself some earplugs, hope you get a room where the WiFi and TV works and enjoy the great location of this hotel. I don't think I'll be back because I think I paid too much for the annoyances that I got, but overall I do like the hotel and its staff. read more

They call it London's rock n' roll hotel. Who is they? I think the Sanctum itself. I don't know if I would agree, really. But, that said, I do really like this hotel. I've stayed in two different room types here, over the course of 4-5 stays overall. The crash pad is tiny - it is a giant king bed and a tiny bathroom, and really, that is about it. If you're staying for more than a couple of days you might feel a little cramped. The Deluxe room is much nicer and well worth it. The rooftop bar is fun and nice and private. I was once told that the hot tub is open for 23 hours a day. Never ate at the restaurant, but the jelly belly jelly beans from the mini bar are well worth the £3! read more

Second Vist even better than the first with the fabulous Tatum Shaun & kate My daughter and stayed at the Sanctum as we had an action packed 2 days. We already knew that the hotel would be fabulous as we have stayed previously; but this time we were lucky enough to VIP treatment from the Sanctum family Shaun, Tatum, and Kate. There was much activity 'Totem Adornments jewellery presentation by the lovely Paddy Dickinson and we got invited to a music extravaganza in the cinema room (not to be missed) The food is delicious and really do feel that the hotel is your home with a caring professional thrown in for good measure. Make sure you visit; you won't be disappointed we are there again late December with our much-loved friends. read more

This is a very small and quaint hotel. I think like 30 rooms. There isn't many amenities, but they did have a rooftop jacuzzi. I was the only person using it, so they had to have someone get it ready and set up because it was covered. My room didn't have wifi so I had to switch rooms, and the beds were very uncomfortable. It did have a cool vibe, and the location was the best part about the hotel. I wouldn't stay here again, but if you like an old grunge rock and roll vibe, you'd love it. read more

We have had the best stay here at Karma Sanctum! The hotel is small and the floors and bed to creak a bit but it adds to the adorable, funky charm that this hotel has! The location has by far been our favorite part!! It's right in the middle of soho and next door to some amazing bars, restaurants, and shopping! Gabriella checked us in and was SO sweet she even upgraded our rooms. We will definitely stay here again during our next trip! read more

Came here for pre-comedy drinks - it's a really random place, but lovely at the same time. How so? I here you ask. Well upon entering the bar (which is part of the Hotel) it looks very grand and has lovely decor...but, on closer inspection, the wallpaper was decorated with skulls and there was even a skull on display. Although it didn't seem to fit the with the decor...it actually works - giving it a rather quirky feel to the fancy hotel bar. The drinks are pricey, but a nice bar to pop into when you feel like splashing the cash (or want to go for pre-drinks before going to the Amused Moose comedy downstairs). read more

Didn't see any rock stars but did see a strange guy in 30s clothes with a hat who open the old style gated elevator. Slowly worked our way to bar at the top of the hotel. Small cosy bar with even smaller outside seating and smoking area. They sell cigars ( add a star). Decent drinks and service but nothing super special read more

I stayed here for two weeks recently, the decor and feeling of the hotel is very prominent throughout every part of it. Emily and Sophia, as well as the entire staff at the restaurant were always on top of everything they needed to be, the food is amazing, and I enjoyed my stay. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST. My husband and I travel a great deal and I will say this hotel had the worst hospitality I have experienced anywhere in the world. In the middle of the night we were waken up by the front desk clerk yelling and accusing us of "setting off alarms" and disturbing someone staying in the room next to us. We did no such thing, and my husband explained that, only to have the women on the phone continue yelling before my husband simply apologized so that we could go back to sleep. It was a bizarre exchange and very upsetting. When we were in the lobby the next day, I discussed what happened with the clerk. She gave no apology, but rather continued to make smug accusations and treat us like criminals. It was so strange and offensive. Also, the bed was too firm and the pillows were too soft. You honestly would be better off sleeping on the floor. Do not stay here, they do not deserve your money. London has plenty of other hotels with better staff and amenities to choose from. read more

Ok, we didn't actually stay at this hotel. We decided to leave Paris and head for London a day early and our hotel was booked. I found this hotel and made a reservation and took a cab there. When we got there I realized I had made it for the wrong day and they had no rooms available! The guy at the front desk and the manager were SO NICE! They called around to try and help us find a place and let us use their phone and were so helpful. Plus in the hour+ time we were there I heard them interact with other clients and they were amazingly gracious and helpful. I will definitely go back here when they have a room available! The issue that I have surrounds the online reservation system for their restaurant. I made my reservation for afternoon tea using their online system. I received a confirmation that all was confirmed. 2 days before the event I received an email asking for my credit card information and menu choice. I replied back saying I was not comfortable transmitting my CC info via email. On the menu items I had to ask for them to be sent to me so I can choose. This was done over various emails. Never was I told that my reservation was at risk of being canceled. On the day of the event we showed up promptly at the reserved time and were told they tried to contact me via email and phone. I did receive emails but never a phone call. Then the person goes onto tell me about the mistakes I made in THEIR SYSTEM. Their flawed system is not a concern or fault of mine. I am not judging the quality of the meal as we didn't have one. The place looks and feels miss-managed. Hopefully they will get their act together. I will never know as I will never be heading back. Too many quality places in Soho to accept the treatment given by this place. read more

I am surprised to be the first to leave a review for this hotel- it is in one of the best areas of London and extremely hip. I stayed there since it was very close to my clients UK office- I would only stay there again for its proximity to the office. If you are travelling for pleasure, I would recommend about 10 other 5 star hotels besides the Sanctum Soho. I did give it three stars because the bed was comfy, the chocolate (for purchase) was delicious, and the concierge as well as one guy at the front desk were great. The downsides- The room was expensive/super small, and overall it was a bit snobby. read more
