We've been going to the Sand Bar on and off for decades and it's consistently good. We went twice on our most recent vacation. The first day I took advantage of their crab legs special (Sundays and Mondays) which came with melted butter and fries and was delicious! The second time, we went for lunch again, and brought the fish we had caught on an excursion that morning (snapper, trout, whiting, I think). They can prepare it in multiple ways and we chose to do half fried and half grilled. It was delicious! Note that whenever we have visited, it has been for lunch so I can't speak to the evening atmosphere, but during the day it's very laid back, and often mostly locals. My husband declares it's the best grouper sandwich he's had, and he says that on every trip, even though we go to other restaurants. read more

This place was great - had a great sports bar feel and the food and service was great! We were able to watch the bowl games while eating and the atmosphere was lively! Seems like a nice local spot too. Grouper sandwich was fantastic and my wife had the buffalo chicken fingers. Chicken was fresh and not something like out of the freezer if you know what I mean. My husband and I had lunch today at the Sand Bar Marco Island Fl. The service was great. I had the special: Grouper Piccata which was delicious and a huge portion. My husband had the soup special beef vegetable, it had the biggest pieces of roast beef I have ever seen in a soup. He said it was delicious. He also had the cheese steak wrap which he also enjoyed. Came with a large group, there's was 12 of us during the busiest week of the year, Dec 28th, on a Wednesday. We waited just under an hour for a table, not too bad. It was very busy as expected. This is the only place I believe on the island that is open till 2:00 everyday. Our server was clearly swamped but focused on doing his job. Took our drink orders right away. The menu is pretty good sized, I'd say just right. Not too big with stuff people won't eat anyway. The food was good, except for maybe the bbq chix sandwich, which wasn't bad, just nothing special. Someone in our group had a filet, they said it was good, someone had frog legs and they said they were good too. They were good sized. I had the Philly cheesesteak, and was very good for a bar. Karaoke was happening in the back area, but we weren't sitting there. I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

Heard about the Sand Bar from family members and when we saw they had trivia, we thought we would give it a try. This is as close to a "dive bar" in the area with some of the more friendlier prices you will find. However, we were quite disappointed in our food. Boasting "award winning" wings on the menu, I figured I had to try them and ordered a basket of garlic parm. The wings were dry with hardly any garlic parm flavor. In all honesty, I could have probably dipped them into BBQ sauce and not even taste the garlic. I didn't even bother finishing them. The wife had Buffalo chicken strips which were tough in texture and again, had no flavor to them. She did not finish them either. Beer was cheap so that made me feel a little better. For what it's worth, the trivia was "adult trivia" which was fun and would be great with friends, but not family friendly so just double check before sitting down. read more

This review is still under construction. I had a lunch at the Sand Bar recently. My first time there. The jury is still out so to speak. I saw some good dishes come out of the kitchen that looked very worthy of coming back to try. I had ordered the Cuban sandwich with coleslaw. I just was not impressed enough. I was rather disappointed in what I ordered since I saw some delicious plates going to other tables. The waitress/bartender was kind of curt at first. She did not make a friendly first impression. Though she did seem to be friendly when she left me the check. The menu looked good. Prices and portions seemed reasonable considering the seasonal nature of the business in the area. The bathroom appeared clean and sanitary. I will be back to try more off the menu. The Sand Bar is worth giving a try. read more

The server came up to the table saying that we are not getting the best service from her that night. You shouldn't have come to work with a bad attitude mopping around the whole night. There was basically no service. Our food was brought out at the same time as the apps and when the food was taken away we didn't see her again until 20 minutes later when we finally got the check after having to go up to one of the bus boys to ask for it. I think this is the only eatery/bar open on the island past 10pm. They have live music. Well at least when we went. A lot of locals are here. They have pool tables, bar and food. After 10pm the menu is limited. We were looking for oysters, however arrived at 10:05pm not knowing the menu was limited. We had drinks, and tried the fish tenders which were good, and calamari which was good too. Fried.. so could only eat so much fried, however good. Oh the fries were crispy and thin which were good too. I will definitely be back, however this time I will get here earlier to have a broader menu selection. Happy Hour on Marco Island starts at 2:00pm, which is nice. I love dive bars but not this one. What got us was on their website they post one price and then in person it is another by ($3.00). We questioned the waitress when ordering and she turned around and went to the bartender. The bartender told her "we'll go ahead and give it to her". Now we order the fish tacos what a mistake. As you will see there is allot of lettuce and cheese and I'm not sure that what that sauce was but it tasted nasty. Needless to say we enjoyed our beer and left. Wanted to update my review after the most recent experience. We stopped by here for Monday Night Football and had a great time. This is the epitome of a sports bar, with TV's on essentially every visible wall, including MULTIPLE behind the bar. The drinks are fairly priced, and they have the typical variety of bar food. We tried the 'hot garlic teriyaki' wings and the sauce was exceptional with just the right amount of kick, which was actually quite a bit -- not for the faint of heart! The Sand Bar is where the locals go! It's the epitome of a dive bar. It's not much to look at inside, and their few outdoor tables look at a parking lot and the back of some industrial buildings, so it's not a tourist scene at all. But the food is sure delicious! And pretty affordable, especially for Marco Island. I love the fried shrimp and their French fries are awesome. They also have a lot of live music to keep everyone entertained and happy, buying more drinks. read more

We've been coming to Marco for years but this was our first time to the Sand Bar - we were looking for "Jack's outlook" which was a very casual bar on the pier but was wiped out by the hurricane. So we checked out Sand Bar on a rainy Saturday afternoon - Steven took EXCELLENT care of us at the bar - he made great recommendations and was very attentive and nice. We had the oyster rockefeller and 1/2 lb u peel shrimp hot - very good. We liked it so much we came back the next day to watch the Bears/Packer game. Luckily got a spot with a GREAT server - I'll add her name in later. We loved our visit and will be back every time we are in town. read more
