Seafood Salad: ($18.99) baby shrimp, bay scallops, calamari, grape tomato medley, mixed greens, marinated in a light champagne vinaigrette. We had a really nice, quiet dinner by the bay at CJ's! We were vacationing and staying on Marco Island at the JW and not too far away is CJ's, right up the road. We made a reservation ahead of time, which is a very good idea in-season. We asked for a table with a nice view of the sunset and we were given a front row seat to a beautiful sky as we dined - - the sunset colors changed all throughout. Jaklyn was our server and she really couldn't have been nicer and more efficent. She really helped us with our meal selections and is a pro server! She kept my husband's ice tea glass filled all throughout the evening, which is no easy-feat. I enjoyed the wings and a caesar salad while my husband had a salad with fried scallops which I tasted -- they were delicious. The menu is pretty robust - -i needed a little break from seafood that night! And to top off our meal, we had a very yummy slice of their key lime pie - - you really dont get key lime pie very often in NJ, so we took advantage and had to do taste tests during our vacation. This one was pretty close to the top! So if you're looking for a nice casual restaurant with a great sunset every evening, CJ's By The Bay is a winner. We came here at noon on a Monday. The seating area was available on a first-come, first-served basis. The waiters were immediately there and welcomed us in. We received the menu, and all our questions were answered. The menu had a variety of opinions from seafood lovers to burgers and pasta. The view of the bay was beautiful. We decided to order the seafood sampler appetizer, and it was big enough that we were getting full. So we just ordered a beet salad after that to share. And they kindly split the salad for us, which was very nice. We didn't ask for that. We did say we were going to share it. But we are used to just taking our own portions off the plate. This was a nice restaurant on the water with plenty of TVs since the Super Bowl was starting. We sat at a high top table in the bar area. Good drinks and a friendly and attentive waitress. Don't get me wrong, CJ's on the Bay is in a beautiful location. We docked the boat and were seated pretty quickly, which was nice--especially since the bar area is first come, first serve. The food itself was actually really good. The grouper was amazing... just not what I ordered. I had asked for the mahi mahi wrap, but a grouper sandwich came out instead. I'm not one to complain, so I started eating it, especially since our server didn't check back in for about 10 minutes after the food arrived. When he finally came over, I apologized first and mentioned the mix-up (I accidentally said "ahi tuna wrap" when explaining, but either way--it definitely wasn't a grouper sandwich). Instead of handling it well, he got defensive and insisted he heard me say grouper because "they don't see ahi tuna". That didn't really sit right with me, especially since I clearly said "wrap," not sandwich. It was disappointing because the setting and food had so much potential, but the service and attitude really took away from the experience. read more

Our first day on the island we stopped in to try this place. It didn't disappoint We arrived early they open at 11 and we were there at 1130am. This place is beautiful and setup well. Excellent waitress Lunch was delicious cheeseburger and Salmon BLT was excellent. It was so great our waitress told us about the live music Thursday night so we made a reservation for dinner and went again. Salmon pesto was outstanding. The drinks were delicious and we had a wonderful evening watching the sunset outside on their patio. The live band singer was sensational and the service was some of the best service we've ever experienced at a restaurant. She was absolutely outstanding and I wish I had her name. We had such a great night. We went back a third time on our last day on the island once again we came in when the place opened, but they still welcomed us with open arms. We were literally the only people in the restaurant and again the service was great. This restaurant will become a staple when we visit Marco Island in the future as there's one of the top places we went the whole week. The service really was exceptional. Bummed- we loved this place the first time, this time we made a reservation, it was a good 15 minutes before anyone came to us despite us letting the hostess know twice, and several staff coming to our area. The server was nice and once we got started service was good. Two of us got the skinny margaritas- they were tough, basically just lime juice, I tried! When we asked if we could get something different and told them it was just lime juice, the sever was nice, and the manager was to our face, then turned around and my friend caught her rolling her eyes at us- ouch!! We were nice about it, but wow, what a reaction! After waiting over 20 minutes to get a drink, and were disappointed and you roll your eyes at us?! Yikes, maybe she's in the wrong business. The food was just meh-it was all just fine, nothing of note, I think I got the mahi mahi , something with a brown sugar sauce- so bland! Except maybe the calamari, that was good. I give them 5 stars every time. This is my all time favorite place on Marco Island for casual dining with a water view. One can take in the sun setting behind mega yachts on the water while taking in a mojito. CJs has rotating cocktail specials for each day of the week that I recommend checking out. Very grateful that there are vegan options on the menu but I do miss their blue zone inspired dishes like the crunchy kale salad. Such a great area and pretty views. Our waiter was fantastic! We started with calamari and it was pretty good. The house lemon dressing for the salads was nice. We got the special ahi tuna and it was overcooked and needed some flavor. The French fries with the French dip sandwich is where it's at. Used to be our fav place to go on the island but it's out priced it self for mediocre food. The view is amazing it's a great spot but that alone isn't worth it. Re work the menu, bring prices down and hopefully we will give it another try. read more

This place is very popular and gets busy. We made a reservation for Saturday at 17:30 and I was glad because they just started to get busy with large and small parties.  There is seating inside, outside,  and the gazebo.  There is a large bar inside and a larger bar outside at the gazebo. We had the scallops for an appetizer (very good) and my wife had the Coconut Shrimp with rice & veg for her entree and I had the Pink Shrimp Linguine with peppers.  She swooned over her meal and mine was just as delicious.  We finished with coffee and their award winning Key Lime pie.  It was so good and we were so full that we almost needed a grocery cart ride to our car.
