I read all the other reviews and just to be fair, I found my room clean and tighty. The negatives: small rooms, bare bones accommodations for the price, no AC, my room was outdated other than the flat screen tv. The lamp by my bed did not have a knob to turn it on so i grabbed a pair of pliers from my truck to make it work ($.50 purchase for the hotel, or just replace the lamp with a Wal-Mart special for $10). The unfortunate thing is, there are no other hotels other than the new Pier South Resort across the street ( $300 a night). I think they had a monopoly and still do if your looking for a room under $150. Location is fantastic. I guess you can consider that you paid $100 for a crappy room, now you have $200 left over to eat and drink at the Pier South's Sea 180° . Maybe you'll drink enough you won't care about your room.

The only reason it gets one star is because the location was great! Other then that, this was the worst place I could ever imagine staying. It was dirty, smelly and the staff gave me cleaning supplies. There was also spiders! Unfortunately there was no availability across the street to stay, or we would have left. Do not even consider staying here for your family's safety. My daughter got bitten in the face by a spider and because of the dirty room, she got MRSA. Yes, the flesh eating bacteria. There was blood underneath one of the pillow cases, the floors were dirty and I cleaned them. There were also ants all over the bath tub! And the toilet upon arrival, had puke on the lower part of it. Worst of all, the management did not seem to care. I hope they get it together, because this place has a lot of potential. It could be quite charming.

We stayed here for 2 days with my family the penthouse is very big and has a full kitchen. If u plan on apartment type this is it but a full hotel type no. Bring beach towels for sure. Nice staff but very loud neighborhood and lots of transients beach was good right across the motel. No a.c. but lots of Windows

    Corner of room walls.

The walls on the eastern side are very thin . We heard our neighbors in next room fighting all night.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this stay warrants an honest warning to other travelers…read more I booked Pier South Resort because it is marketed as a beachfront Marriott Autograph Collection resort. I specifically wanted a relaxing night on the beach and used 58,000 Bonvoy points expecting a premium experience. What I found instead was one of the most disappointing Marriott stays I've had. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was a strong sewage odor throughout the area. By morning, it became clear why: the beach was posted as closed and unsafe due to contamination. Calling a property a "beach resort" without clearly emphasizing that the beach is unusable is deeply misleading. The property itself felt neglected and under-maintained. The room was acceptable at first glance, but the overall hotel atmosphere suggested deferred upkeep rather than resort standards. The hot tub was closed, the pool area felt lifeless, and many spaces felt tired rather than welcoming. More concerning was the sense of insecurity. Elevators were unrestricted, my room had multiple exterior access points, the balcony door was unlocked on arrival, and there appeared to be non-guests lingering or camping around the property and beach area. As a solo traveler, I did not feel safe. What was supposed to be a premium coastal getaway turned into extra transportation costs so I could leave the area and spend time elsewhere. The "resort's" response was a modest partial-points gesture that did not reflect the seriousness of the experience. This property is not consistent with what travelers expect from Marriott or the Autograph Collection. Until conditions materially improve and marketing becomes more transparent, I would strongly recommend using your points or money elsewhere.

American/mexican hospitality simplicity at its best!…read more Here are some of my top things I loved about this place: - across the street from the beach - this place was very simple to access with enough parking and very clean. - restaurants, liquor stores and other gift shops located right up the street. - All the necessities like soap, shampoo and conditioner were provided in the room. - firm and comfortable beds that got my kids to sleep throughout the night - I felt very safe to be in the area Additions that gave more than expected: - soap and sponge to clean dishes - mini refrigerator - Roku TV - little areas to relax - guest laundry (requires quarters) - guest customer service sms I will continue to recommend this place to family and friends

Sand Castle Inn & Suites ... this place was okay…read more Honestly, when going on vacation, you either want a place where you can spend your whole time relaxing in comfort in lavish surroundings, or you want some place where you can just dump your stuff and sleep the few hours in between eating out and seeing the sights. Sand Castle Inn is definitely in the latter category. Our room was small, but not restrictively so. The decor was in a Santa Fe style, with terracotta tiles with a smell that reminded me of my childhood living in a beach town, spending time at friend's pools. And the furnishing was sparse, but still adequate for our needs for a one night stay. As long as you're not looking for a 5-star experience on the cheap, you should be satisfied. As for any negative impressions, any photos you see on their website are likely not going to be what you get in your standard room. About the only thing that matched expectations was our bathroom (which was quite nice). The exterior was a bit lacking, with most furniture suffering from age and exposure and the walls in need of repairs in many spots. And there's no on-site management team, meaning any issues you might have has to be rectified through phone calls and texts; this can be less than ideal if you have any problem greater than missing towels or soap. Still, for the cost, Sand Castle Inn & Suites was about as good as we could have expected. If you go in knowing the limitations and extent of what you are paying for, you probably won't be too disappointed and come away satisfied.
